working great on the NC!
Drag & drop directly to/from SD on NC (or any android) over wifi!
Search for "samba fileshare" & download from market
Props to developer FunkyFresh!
This sounds awesome!
So if I'm understanding correctly, you can drop movies, music, and data files from your computer to the NC without hooking up the cable? This is something I'd be very interested in when I get my NC.

You got it! Your NC (or any **ROOTED** wifi enabled android device) will show up in your network and you can navigate the SD card and drag and drop, etc. Just like any other computer share. Pretty sweet!

Oh man, I cannot WAIT for this! Still saving my pennies for the NC, but when I get it this'll be the only way I transfer files.
Thanks!
Would have liked to post this in the dev's forum, but as a newbe, I'm unable to.
I hope someone will show the dev this post

Copying files to phone using Nautilus.
The link in the post above does not fix the problem.
sending files via nautilus to the phone works if the file size is under 65kb. If above that size the copying error "invalid argument" is returned. I have also found that the linux dolphin file manager will send any size file to the phone but cannot retrieve them.
I do hope this helps the dev, as I think the app is a superb piece of work.

Another method, if you don't like using the USB cable to transfer, is to download SwiFTP to the NC and then run a client like Filezilla on your host machine. SwiFTP will make your NC a FTP server that you can connect to over WiFi and upload files. That's how I've been transferring a lot of my stuff.

I've been looking for something like this, thank you!!
Runs beautifully
Very nice! Up and running on Nook Color and Droid X in under 5 mins. Working flawlessly to access via explorer in Win7 64bit.
Works on one computer not the other??

I also have Win7 64bit at work and at home. It works great at work - but can't get my home computer to recognize it. Any suggestions?

I have used this all day. I love it. This plus adb wireless has me never plugging my nook into the laptop.
I've been using Awesome drop to do this for a while check it out as well
Great app. Works really well. Previously I was using WiFi File Explorer. The problem was that it worked through web browser, which meant no copying of complete folders or multiple files.
With Samba it is just like browsing another drive on Windows Explorer.

Beat me to it. I was going to recommend Awesome Drop as well. It also works over 3G on your phone to boot.
Was having trouble connecting to my HTC Desire HD due to it not accepting broadcasts. Tried to fix with 'HTC UDP broadcast fix' app but that was useless as it doesn't ask for super user permissions!?!?
easy work around..... a manual arp entry for the Desire HD on my windows machine.
run cmd as admin..... then
C:\Windows\system32>arp -s ip-address-of-phone MAC-address-of-phone
bingo, happy to finally say 'great app!'
thanks!
Can somebody tell me how to use this app? I'm on a mac. Thanks.
Hello,
I am trying to add /mnt/usbhost1 to the shared folders. Is it /etc/smb.conf that I should edit?

For those of the unix persuation, I can recommend DropBear SSH server. Works well with CM10. I use putty (and pscp) on the pc side.
Anybody know of a program to run from a tablet for remote desktop access? Tried a couple, but??

If you're looking for a straight up RDP, the Xtralogic client is good, stable, and fast. Of course, the full one is also expensive, so take that for what it's worth.

+1 for xtralogic... I use it all the time and love the full screen view.
swyped from my Vegan 'flavored' Gtab...
Another +1 for Xtralogic. Use it and PhoneMyPC quite a bit. Both work well, but Xtralogic is a bit more impressive. PMPC will connect to multiple PC's though.

PocketCloud
I've been using PocketCloud Free rom Wyse. Seems to work fine for RDP to Windows machines.
Logmein Ignition,
It's pricey though
TeamViewer is working great for me and it's free for personal use. You get it from their website not the market.
+1 Xtralogic (paid version). Worth every cent.
Remote Desktop App
I'm going to try the Team Viewer and report back....it has worked GREAT for me laptop to other systems and didn't realize that it was available for the tab.
I've been using PC Remote Controller - but you have to be on the same WiFi network to use it.

Hi there! Which rom are you using. I'm using Calkulin's. I just installed the Pocketcloud and it does allow me to connect. But when I try to login, the keyboard does not pop for me, thus not allowing me to login.
Not sure what I'm missing.
I've got LogMeIn Ignition on my phone, gtab and 2 PCs and its awesome
I dont know about any of the others, but ive been a long time teamviewer supporter, have over 50 names on the list of regular repairs via phone or PC.
seriously, team view is sooooooo useful for me, all the time, everyday.
+1
+1 for LogMeIn Ignition. It's got all the features as TeamViewer and costs $29.99 compared to $749 for a single TeamViewer license.
Of all the ones I've tried, XtraLogic is the best. The only downside is the app crashes frequently if I connect to a VirtualBox VM that has RDP enabled (not via OS, but via VirtualBox). Just letting you know before you shell out $$ for it. Hopefully they fix it soon. It would be nice if they had a trial version, but I can't seem to find one on the market.
Does anyone know if Remote RDP Lite or the paid version ($10) works on the G Tab? I use the free one on my phone and it works pretty well.
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.toremote.serversmanager&feature=search_result
Not only does Remote RDP work on the Gtab, but I use the paid version all the time and have found it to be the best RDP application on Android by a good margin.
That said, I hereby commit to jump ship to the first person who releases a client with RemoteFX.
Splashtop allows 3d and videos to be played.
Works fine here.

My project group for our senior project is developing an Android app. We are pretty much done at this point, but we have to present our app on Friday. We have done a practice presentation with a demo on the emulator, but we would like to present it on my phone.
I was wondering what is the best/easiest way to put my Android display on a PC so we can do our presentation on my phone the way it was meant to be shown.
So it would be my phone connected to a laptop, laptop connected to projector, and laptop displaying my phone's display on the projector.
This way we can also use our GPS location and use the app to take pictures which are both important parts of our presentation.
Do you have a HDMI out port on your Android device? That would work nicely.

And no HDMI port, its a Droid 2.
Since you said you are developing apps, i assume you've done so using eclipse, and if not
then download it. install ADT plugin, make a bogus project,
OR if you already are working in eclipse, open your project, deploy on phone using Ctrl+F11 when your phone is in Debugging mode with ADB daemon running, open DDMS window in eclipse, on the top bar click on "Device" and then on capture screen.
oops, sorry thought you just needed pics for presentation. Remote ADB is your only way then
iDisplay. It works on Mac and PC according to there description. It cost $4.99 though...

Afaik the idisplay was meant to migrate your pc's entire screen onto your Android phones display?wasnt?
as an alternative monitor i say
i remember my LG p970 having a PC app called ' LG on screen phone '(LG OSP) that since i was(am) #### about Smartphones networking solutions, i tried installing it on my low-end toshiba laptop, and it was damn OK and working like a charm likely with 30Fps or more.
then after i ve tried many cross-platform apps like mobo made one for my Htc and sony devices, and neither of them could saticfy me with their stupid qiualities and low frame rate.
i yet have that application. But the question is whether can a dev handle some modification on it to be use on any kinda android devices?
huh... devs are asleep..
I need to remote into my work but there is no RDP APP. The VPN works but what good does that do me if I can't connect into my work PC, or our servers. Anyone know if RDP is being developed for Webos?

From what I can find Splashtop should be releasing a application for WebOS, but it doesn't look like they have. Other then Splashtop, it doesn't look like their is a good way unless you want to VNC into a machine and launch RDP through that machine's session.
I'd hope somebody (devs) sees an opportunity here...

I agree. It's funny that now that I finally have a device with native Cisco AnyConnect support, it doesn't have any RDP application!
Hopefully something will be created soon.
I'm waiting for this as well.

Same here. I'd easily pay 15-20 bucks for an app like Android's Xtralogic RDP client.
I would pay as well.

Should we turn this into a bounty thread? If this had RDP, I'd never go back to my desk again. As is, the Touchpad has already made me 200% more mobile at work.
Seriously, I would pay real money for a VNC (1st choice) or RDP (2nd) client that works. There is a VNC client free on the HP appstore but it doesn't support (or work at all on) the Touchpad. I have emailed the dev but his site is all German and I don't know if he will understand.
This is the main reason I am needing android so badly... At this point no client for RDP exists, as far as I can tell. We desperately need WYSE pocketcloud, which also does VNC, and I doubt they port that app to webOS
iTap works really well for Android and iPad, I wonder if they would develop an app for Webos?
I'm tempted to write one myself lol!
I was able to do it by installing ubuntu on the device and then just installing rdesktop in ubuntu. It should use the existing VPN connection that you have and you should be able to connect. I was able to use the same setup to create a SSH RDP tunnel to my home computer.
There's a bunch of tutorials on how to install ubuntu on the Touchpad.
Gnome-RDP is very nice on Debian Squeeze64. I download Cisco Anyconnect client from Stheir site via CCO login. Very nice.
Now I'm looking for just an RDP client for my HP Touchpad so I can access my work PC. IPSEC using native VPNC (not VNC) works pretty good. It is very nice. Very fast connection viewing our protected web server.
In the meantime I'll look for a way to run a terminal (or xterm), then use telnet or openSSH from the Touchpad.
I got an answer from the guy who wrote the only VNC client for WebOS I know of (current version doesn't work on tablet). He is a very nice German fellow named Bernard Slawik. Here is his answer when I asked if he could update for Touchpad.
Hi,
I don't have a TouchPad, so I can't really develop for it
If it get's available again (I heard something yesterday), I hope it will become available in Europe as well!
Greetings from Munich,
Bernhard
Anybody in Germany/Eastern EU have a Touchpad we can hook Bernhard up with?

I got an e-mail from WYSE today, makers of pocket cloud. No good news though:
Hi David,
With the latest HP announcements we currently have no plans to create a WebOS version.

Hey all,
im trying to run droidmote client on my touchpad to control an android powered tv stick (UG007) running droidmote server.
Both devices run the app fine, the server app broadcasts correctly.
I run the client on the TP and it "appears" to connect however i get no notification on the tv that it has connected. button presses are also unresponsive and i dont get a cursor on the tv screen.
on the TP when bringing up the menu the option to "disconnect" is available which implies it is connected....
Anyway getting to the point, just curious whether anyone else has tried to use the TP as a droidmote client and had any success using it to control another android devices?
Oh and FYI - im running CM10 based off jcsullins ROM however have compiled my own kernel with additional drivers built into it for DVB-T and others. I dont see the kernel being the issue however as its only a lightly modified defconfig for tenderloin.
Thanks
I used my TP as the server with my Xperia T as the control and it worked fine over WiFi (tethering too)

ok you need the uinput.ko module for your kernel. i have 3 different mk802 devices that i use with droidmote and my touchpad. i have the module for kernel 3.0.8+, which kernel version are you running on the androidTV?
if you can build and compile your own modules/drivers then you already will know what to do. if not, and youre running the same kernel version as i am then use mine.
1) Start DroidMote and click with the mouse the ON button. (started well, but does not work do not worry).
2) Download the uinput.ko in the link below.
3) open terminal emulator (If you not have it, download from Google Play).
4) In terminal emulator run the following commands:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
busybox cp /download-folder-of-uinput/uinput.ko /vendor/modules (change "download-folder-of-uinput" with your folder ex. /mnt/sdcard/Download)
busybox mv /vendor/modules/mma7660.ko /vendor/modules/mma7660.ko.bak
busybox mv /vendor/modules/uinput.ko /vendor/modules/mma7660.ko
busybox chmod 644 /vendor/modules/mma7660.ko
busybox cp /data/data/org.videomap.droidmoteserver/files/droidmote.kl /system/usr/keylayout
busybox cp /data/data/org.videomap.droidmoteserver/files/droidmote.kcm /system/usr/keychars
busybox cp /data/data/org.videomap.droidmoteserver/files/droidmotegt.idc /system/usr/idc
busybox cp /data/data/org.videomap.droidmoteserver/files/droidmotemt.idc /system/usr/idc
umount /system
6) restart the MK802
7) open DroidMote Server, go in the settings and enable the options "start on boot".
8) restart the MK802 (If all goes well, after two minutes from the boot, DroidMote open and start automatically,
and is ready to receive connections from your phone).

Same thing happened to me. Both my UG007 with iMito MX1 Finless 1.5 the server is not found. I installed it on my Win8 machine and everything but Netflix Metro app worked but remote control was perfect.... BOUGHT 2 different ones off of Play Store from 2 different TV anroid accounts and UG007's. (I think $2.58 each?) Anyways, it does not work. Any ideas? That uinput.ko is not to be found...
tried
find / -name uinput.ko
and nothing...not sure if that even really needs to exist? Anyways, some light shed this way also please.
