[Q] Does anyone have the stock rom in a flashable zip? - HTC EVO 3D

I'm looking for something I can flash through recovery, not the ruu that you have to change to pmg.zip whatever. I've tried doing this and i can't seem to ever get it to work.

When you renamed the zip are you positive you renamed it to just .zip and not .zip.zip? So many people have a problem with this, as windows will not show the file type and they add .zip to the end. In reality the file was already named .zip at the end to begin with.
That being said there are some pretty clean stock-ish ROMS you can flash. Most just have been cleaned up a bit and a few minor tweaks added. I know lots of people like Fresh as his ROM is a cleaned up Stock type ROM.

If I remember in the morning, I'll link to something for you. Go back several pages in the cdma dev section if you're on CDMA. There's a thread for it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I've never done the .zip.zip thing. I have a Mac and I've changed it with Astro and its never worked. Is there something I'm missing?
I always go into recovery, wipe everything, and then boot back into hboot, wait for the pmg.zip to load, it says it was successful, and then when I reboot it gets stuck at the HTC screen. I have to pull the battery and go back into recovery to flash something.

did you not make a stock nandroid?

maybe these

I did.... but I wanted to try starting from scratch again.

go to scottsroms.com and he has all the stock roms like the ruu and zip.
I started over a week ago and I had to relock phone then run the ruu and all went well. I then rerooted to a stock rooted rom. Remember you have to relock before running the .zip stock rom.
i have my unlock code stored on my cpu so all i had to do is half the steps on HTC DEV. There is a walk thru on here somewhere to walk you thru unrooting the htc way.

beastmod and quiksense have stock kernels.
If I go to those and then revert back to rooted stock through cwm will it put back my original kernal. Yes right?

Only if your phone was shipped with S-OFF.
So... probably not.
Before I unlocked and rooted, I did an OTA to 1.3, has no Idea at the time. I then unlocked and rooted and was basically on everything stock, with just a different launcher and widgets. Then I flashed Faux's kernel and worked fine. I tried to go back to stock kernel, boot.img as provided by xboarder, bluetooth and wifi stopped working and phone became unstable. I cannot downgrade to any older rom either, when I relock, it gives me a security warning and gets stuck starting in fastboot everytime. As you know I tried scratched my phone screen and am trying to get a replacement. Went to the t-mobile store to exchange and they told me I needed to go back to stock and relock the bootloader which is impossible at this point. I guess I'm stuck at this point with the kernel and this rom.
I am having trouble making the proper clock speed stick with faux's kernel and fauxclock app. I want a clock speed of about 1.5 and prefer not to undervolt too much. Everything sticks except the clock speed, am I doing something wrong. in fauxclock I did click on the button "set on boot" and still nothing...The screen off clock sticks but not the awake clock...I am on ondemand governor does this have something to do with it, sorry I am not very familiar with kernels as I did not play around with them too much before this.
Any help would be appreciated.

Just use fastboot to flash your roms boot.img file.
Assuming you're using one of xboarders roms like 3.0.0 then use that boot.img file.
With your phone is bootloader mode
fastboot flash boot boot.img and it should push everything over and update your kernel.
Then reboot to recovery and try reflashing the rom. That should do it.

1. Ya, I flashed faux's, that's what I can use at the moment only...I flashed back to stock kernel from the original 1.3 and lost bluetooth and wifi.. (not a biggie since I won't be using the stock anyways but still a problem if anyone ever decides to go back to complete stock
2. my main problem clock frequency will not stick (want to underclock back to 1.5) even with enabling set on boot. I use fauxclock's app. perhpas I should contact him about his one....thanks.

I got the all in one tool kit and got the recovery image on there but every time I try to flash the original tmo usa rom it says it cannot open the zip file. I have tried a few diff zip files that i have even for other roms to see whats going on and it cant open any of the zip files. Need to get this back to tmo as I need to send it back in from my warranty exchange. Any help or advice would be great. Been flashing phones since the old mda was out and this is the first time i have had any issues getting it back to stock. Please help me!! When i use the recovery image provided by the tool kit it never shows me the option to flash a zip file just gives me an install option

Give me a minute and ill edit this post with what to do...
ok. Tmobile ruu is here, its in the third post http://www.android-dev.us/showthread...ver-Error-Fix! but its a torrent so u will need a torrent client such as utorrent to download it. Make sure u name the ph85img.zip and put it on the root of your external sd card. next relock your bootloader, i believe you can use hasoons toolkit to relock. MAKE SURE U PUT THE PH85IMG.zip ON YOUR SD CARD BEFORE RELOCKING. after you relock, boot your phone into bootloader by holding down power+volume down. when it boots into bootloader it will ask if you want to install update, select yes and it will do the rest from there.

phone is acting funny...need help

ill try and be as concise as possible, any other questions, just ask...ive been running energyrom for a few days now. i decided yesterday that i was going to flash this phone to stock and return it to tmobile (nothing wrong with the phone itself, just cant get used to it). i used the relocker tool and went into hboot where it said "relocked" and "security warning" underneath (never saw that before). so i figured wtf and flashed the stock 1.43 rom to it. well, after boot, **** wouldnt recognize the internal sd or my external one either.
decided to flash the stock rom again, relocked using htc.dev (adb oem relock) and went back to hboot. no more "security warning". flash the stock rom and go into titanium backup to remove bloat and see under "uninstalled" btips, btips_tmp, com.android.htcprofile, cw, and cwtemp. how? i hadnt uninstalled anything and was coming from a fresh flash of the stock rom. anyways, now im having issues with wifi calling not working right. i figured since i flashed nrgz's modified kernel, maybe that had something to do with it, but wouldnt a complete reinstall of the stock rom overwrite the kernel? wtf am i supposed to do now? ive flashed hundreds of times across various devices and never had issues.
I think you may need stock recovery for a reflash of the stock rom to overwrite the kernel. Then again, I may not know wtf I'm talking about.

[Q] Switching between roms?

Hi guys,
Im new to the rezound but flashed several different froyo/GB roms on my DX so I know basics but Im a little lost between flashing between roms on the rezound since there are kernals and other stuff that was rarely messed with on the DX. Not to mention the DX had a linux iso to flash to OTA froyo and GB which would be nice if someone did that for the rezound, would deffinetly be worth a donation!
Im currently on Scotts cleanrom 4.3 standard. I unlocked the bootloader with the htc coded and have the amon ra recovery installed, and when i flashed the rom i installed the patch, then flashed the ph98img file (ph98img is a kernal?). I tried going to rezrom v3.4 earlier today and once I finished setup I would go into a bootloop. It was sense 3.6 so I didnt think there were animations to disable or anything weird, Im not sure I missed a step or used the wrong file. I ended up just flashing back to cleanrom till I figure this stuff out.
So how would I go about switching to other ics roms, what do I need to worry about/look out for in regards to compatability?
Also What do I need to do to go back to stock so I can get the OTA ics when it comes out (if I even want to)? I did do a nand backup and some backups with titanium pro but I just hope I saved the right stuff.
Thanks for any help!!

That is a lot of questions, but I'll answer what I know:
(ph98img is a kernal?): It can be several things, so you just need to know what you are installing. In this case it was probably a firmware patch.
I tried going to rezrom v3.4 earlier today and once I finished setup I would go into a bootloop: You will need to install the RezROM patch after you install the ROM. It will fix the bootloop.
So how would I go about switching to other ics roms, what do I need to worry about/look out for in regards to compatability?: Read the instructions in each ROM's OP. It will tell you what is compatible and what you will need to do to make it work well. There may be issues going back and forth from ICS to GB, but usually the instructions will give you a heads up. In any case, ALWAYS do a nand backup before flashing.
What do I need to do to go back to stock so I can get the OTA ics when it comes out (if I even want to)?: I believe there is a thread on this. I haven't done it, so I can't help on this question.
Good luck!

You can't flash it backwards and you can't go back to a factory-locked bootloader, but other than that the RUUs accomplish the same thing as a DX SBF.

PH98IMG.ZIP is a reserved filename. If you boot to the firmware menu the Rezound will automatically flash anything in a file by that name in the root of the SD card. Apparently HTC uses different numbers in the file name reserved on each phone, and the Rezound is "98". Other than that, there's no telling what's in the file -- it can be a huge ROM or just a tiny kernel patch.

Easiest way is to flash the leaked ICS RUU. I think in your case you have to actually extract the PH98IMG.ZIP file and flash it manually. And while that's supposedly a release candidate, it's still having a few problems with battery life and heat, so you might not want to flash it till the OTA you want is actually released.
Thanks for the help guys, that helped
Ugh... I had those exact same problems and questions and I even came from the DX.. HTC is so complicated. I'm frustrated with not being able to flash any other roms other than Scott's CleanRom.. The Ph98img.zip file always makes me reboot the phone and when I do delete it and get back to recovery, I am always in a bootloop mode with BAMF and RezRom.

I don't know about BAMF, but with RezROM, you just need to flash the patch in his post, after getting rid of the PH98IMG file. That will cure your bootloop problem.

Just use the search on this site and type in how to remove ph98img.zip . Only reason I say that is because there are a few threads about the issue and a few different techniques. Easiest, I just used my old OG droid to remove the file if I bootlooped. If you don't have an old phone, using a cheap card reader pop it into that and remove the file. Booting into recovery if you can get into it , then mount the card and remove file.
Like I said , not trying be an ass telling you to search I just can't recall all the different ways.

Also , another way to switch between roms. If you make a nandroid of the roms and use Con's nandroid recovery helper http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547496
Posted here and then follow directions in using it and you can then "swap roms without having to restore the kernel separately.

I've read where there are ways to do this via adb commands, but what I've had to do lately is simply pull the SD card and either put it into a reader or another cell phone, delete the file, then put it back into my phone, boot into recovery, and then flash the patch. I know, it's a PITA, but until we install the new firmware, that's just the way it is.
the way that i do it is hold the battery partially out so you can start it with the sd card partially out... boot into bootloader and click recovery.... then you can push the sd back in... next while in amon ra go to developer menu and select the delete phimg option.
yes this can be tricky but it works when you dont have a sd adapter
This is what I'm running right now and I'm not too happy with it. And also to add that I am unable to launch a few apps and sync contacts pictures to GoSMS.

Evo 3d won't boot past HTC screen

Hello,
I've been all over google and this site for the last two days trying to find a way to get my Evo 3d work! I tried searching the forum and unfortunately i kept getting server errors So i figured I would make a new thread in the hopes of figuring this out!
What happened:
I went through the rooting process, and I went to flash a ROM on to the phone and it would not load pass the HTC screen. I had a ROM on there of the stock version of the Sprint Evo 3d, unfortunately it wasn't the proper version and it did not allow 4G and such. So i tried to place another ROM on to the SD Card and flash it over, and for some dumb reason, I deleted the version of the Stock Rom that atleast enabled me to get the phone to turn all the way on. All I'm able now is to boot up to recovery, but I can't figure out what ROM to download to place on the phone to get me back to square one!!!
Help please!!

Hi jerseybizzle, I can certainly try to help you but you have to help me first.
1. Are you doing a factory reset and wiping dalvik cache before flashing?
2. What hboot version do you have?
3. Is your phone s-on or s-off?
4. Which rom did you try to flash that wouldn't boot?

If it was an ics Rom and you are having bootloops, it is most likely because you are s-on. I recommend getting s-off. The wire trick is easy to do, but you need to be careful.

Did you flash the rom through fastboot? If you just booted into your recovery and attempted to flash the ICS version of that rom coming from GB it won't work since you still have S-ON and that doesn't let you flash certain things like kernels. You can still flash roms but you have to take a couple extra steps or achieve S-OFF.
To get your phone working again...
If you were just coming from a stock rooted rom before attempting to flash a new rom, simply download a stock rooted rom from the dev section, put it on your SD card, boot into recovery, wipe and reflash. Your phone should then boot up again.

I'm guessing it was the ics version of vipermod, and since you're s-on your boot image didn't flash. So you're trying to boot an ics rom with a gingerbread kernel.
If you want to use an ics rom, you have a few choices. My favorite... Put a recovery image in the folder on your computer that has fastboot in it. Put the phone in fastboot mode and type in the command window, fastboot boot recovery.img, make sure that you name the recovery image on your comp. to "recovery.img". It should boot to recovery and you can flash away.
Something that's easier is to use 4ext recovery smart flash. I'm sure it works but I've never used it.
If you want to get back to your stock rom unrooted rom you could run an ruu.
Also, take coals advice and s-off that phone, you won't have nearly as many issues once you s-off, and you can use one of the splash screens in my Sig

Here's an idea, get flash image GUI, its free here at xda, google it. Then use it to flash the kernel from the stock rom that you have running and reboot. This should fix your WiFi. Let me know if I'm not being clear enough.

So, it sounds like wifi turns on just fine, you just get the error when attempting to connect to a network?
Have you tried resetting your router and rebooting your phone? Maybe remove that network from your saved preferences and resign in.

Inside the rom that you flashed, just choose that rom with flash image GUI and it'll pull the kernel out for you

The wifi won't turn on period. I'll click the icon for the Wi-Fi to turn on, and it just says error. No option to even try to connect!

If the app that was suggested to didn't do the trick, hit the stickies in the dev section on how to flash a rom with hboot 1.5 S-ON. I recommend the fastboot method, however, if you're so inclined, you can also go the route of getting S-OFF.
Most likely, some problems occurred when you tried to flash that ROM before and broke your wifi. So, if I were you, I'd grab a ROM (that viper ics should be fine if you still got it) and flash it through fastboot using a guide in the dev section. Be sure to read and understand the guide before attempting it.
The guide would be something like this...
1. Install the appropriate drivers and place a recovery on your PC.
2. Boot into your boot loader, select fast boot, and connect your device to your PC via USB.
3. Open a command prompt on your computer, switch to the directory containing drivers/recovery image
4. Type fastboot boot thenameofyourrecovery.img
5. Install the rom as you otherwise normally would using your phone, wiping data, clearing caches, installing zip.
NOTE: The above is not a guide, just an illustration of the guide you're looking for in the dev section.
Flashing a rom by this method allows you to flash roms with non stock kernels, so you can pretty much flash any rom made for your phone. This is the method I have used since day 1 and have never experienced any problems. You may also want to look into getting S-OFF, but I can't say much about that because I haven't done it myself (being content flashing through fastboot).
Hope this helps.

Thanks. I ended up finally finding a ROM (CM) that would load on to the phone. The Wi-Fi is working now!
I just need to find a fix for the camera, neither the regular nor 3D camera will function now.

Which cm rom exactly? I thought the camera works with all the cm roms. It sounds like you still have kernel issues, and until you figure out how to flash a kernel or boot image, you'll always have these types of issues, bootloop, broken WiFi/camera. I know that the instructions that flonker gave you are intimidating but after you've done it once you'll see how simple it is.
One limitation of HTC dev unlocking is that you can't write to the boot partition from recovery, the kernel resides in the boot partition. You can, however, write to boot from within the android system. That's why flash image GUI is so handy for people with s-on and HTC dev unlocked. Just open the app, find the rom you'd like to flash and select it, the GUI will extract the kernel from the rom zip and flash it. Then you just boot into recovery and flash the same rom that you selected with the GUI. It'll flash everything but the boot image, but that's ok because you already flashed the kernel with flash image GUI. Make sure you do a factory reset and wipe the dalvik cache.
When I was s-on I always chose fastbooting to recovery, when you do that it actually loads the recovery onto the boot partition and gives you permission to write to boot, so its like flashing should be. Just wipe, flash, enjoy.
Hope this helps.

I have been flashing roms and kernels and such for awhile on several different phones and literally almost everything you said makes no sense and that goes for the other guy 2 posts above yours. WTF is flash image GUI? Is that an app, you never even say.
The other guy is telling him to flash a rom but describes to him how to flash a recovery image to his phone...have you guys ever done this before or are you just making stuff up as you go?

[Q] Suddenly roaming with full bars and triangle on top

I think i might have got to comfortable with my phone and possibly screwed something up in the process.
I recently have been Installing and Removing various ROMS on my phone so I can find one I am happy with and stick to as a DAILY.
I recently deleted from the SD Card all the folders in it besides DCIM, MUSIC, and my own Media. I figured its just an SD Card even if I removed it the phone should still operate. But I haven't touched anything Internally on the phone itself. Just always making CLEAN installs before installing ROMS under Amon Ra WIPE ALL. Which it skips my SD.
So for some reason now I have no Mobile Network on my phone it says its Disconnected. It also shows Full bars but with a TRIANGLE
over it now. I want to go back to regular data. I have a Nandroid Backup of my HTC Rezounds FACTORY ICS Build. While it help if I reverted to that? and started over with the ROM I like?
Have you tried long pressing on Mobile Network in settings and seeing if you it shows LTE/CDMA?
It does, and it is selected.
Take a look at this.
I found a way to take it off of ROAMING. In system select I switched the CDMA ROAMING MODE from Automatic B (I think it was) to Home.
I have a feeling it has something to do with a rom I installed last night. MIUI it might have change some options in the phone internal system
to thinking its not in the US. Im running stock ICS HTC at the moment from my NAN backup of Amon Ra. But at the moment its showing FULL SIGNAL BARS
& then seconds later no Signal Bars with an X over it. The verizon wireless rep told me that I was connecting to their SERVERS. I can also make calls but only under Automatic B settings in Roaming.
Im not sure what to do at this point. I wish there was someway I could reset the phone SIGNAL OR DATA OR CONNECTION SETTINGS or radio or something. o DEFAULT. I even reset back to my NANDROID Backup and WIPED all before I did that and I was still having the same problem. It doesnt make sense to me unless its a TOWER near by that is Out of order.

You always have the option of flashing a RUU and with that putting your phone back to bone stock.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
i would say start from scratch, flash the global ruu twice, pull the. zip followed by a factory reset. thats what I would do, if I was in your shoes.

Or reflash your ROM. If you can do a dirty flash you can just flash over it and I think you won't lose your set up. That should restore any necessary folders/files if that's the issue.
Oh! What about this... Format it in recovery or via your phone in settings. Since there's that option it should put whatever is needed on there.
If you can't tell, I'm just brainstorming here... I don't know what the files and folders are but seems to me formatting it from within the phone should work or why would you be able to do it?
EDIT: I just reread your post where you posted the pic. I guess you probably have more issues than just the ext sd. Probably best to RUU it and get back to stock and start from scratch. Then you know it's all good and clean.
Thanks

Where can I find the right GLOBAL RUU for my phone?
So I flash the RUU twice one after another. Delete the zip? and Boot and do a factory reset?
I would appreciate any links you can forward me to for the Global RUU!
:victory:Thanks in advanced.
It used to be here:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/
But I just read today that all those mirrors are taken down.
Check the Developer section in the Vigor Shipped RUU thread.

You don't need to factory reset after running the RUU, it puts it all back to factory stock anyway. Relock before you run it:
fastboot oem lock
And after it's done you'll need to unlock again and flash a recovery, root, then flash custom rom.

The funny thing is I have a COMPLETE Nandroid Backup of my phone even before I ever flashed my first ROM! (Before this even happened)
I went into Amon Ra and did a CLEAN WIPE. I wiped everything in the internal storage it was completely blank (I check it under My Computer)
I then restored my Nandroid Backup of my STOCK ICS from Verizon and HTC and Im still getting the same error.

Are you S-On or Off? If S-On, your nandroid may have missed a file that is necessary that can only be replaced by flashing a RUU. Just throwing ideas against the wall.
If I remember correctly, a nandroid from S-On can't touch the kernel and coming from MIUI there may be files that are missing or modified.
In that case, you may be able to pull the stock boot.IMG from the RUU you were on and push that to restore the files.

I am S-On. Its so weird I cant wrap my head around it.
Another funny thing is I've before restored my Nandroid backup when I needed it with a ROM I had that was Unstable and it was working like it should I was back to normal.
Im thinking it has something to do with their towers in my area. But I called a friend that has Verizon as well and he seems to be handling alright.
I just dont get it. Im going to try that RUU flash and see if that works after I eat dinner and possibly relock my phone.

Quoted the wrong post this is for the zip files.
You should only have to shorten the name to PH98IMG. All the RUUs I've seen are some longer name (usually the name of the site hosting them_PH98IMG.)
Then just place it on the root of your external SD and boot into Hboot.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Are you still working on this?
You should be able to RUU from a zip file. Just make sure it's named PH98IMG.zip, put it on your card and then boot into hboot. It should find that file and run it. Let it run through a few times, do its thing and it should reboot when it's done.
I came back here cuz I just ran across this post from another thread:

So that guy is using his phone normally without the external card. What happens if you boot up with the external card out of the phone?
I think it has something to do with the hardware on my phone that started not functioning. I did try going into recovery wiping the whole phone wiping my sd card and then placing the zip file in my sd card. I then booted into H boot and from ADB locked my phone rebooted and then it started to read the zip file and reinstalled to factory reset. I let it reinstall the files let it do its thing it restarted a couple of times reinstalled everything needed went back into the lock screen and was still having the same issue till now. But it's okay because I called Verizon Wireless spoke with him on the phone and I still have my extended warranty on the phone and they concluded that it was a hardware issue so I got to replace my phone for free lol

Although the problem wasnt solved I still appreciate everyone's help on the matter.

Go to phone dialer and put *#*#3646#*#* then go to phone information. Look for a drop down menu and make sure its on CDMA/LTE Only (or anything really with CDMA and LTE in it, that specific one may not show up on your list depending on what ruu your on.) That changes the specifics of how the radio operates incoming connections. Set your data settings back to HOME and turn off roaming. Lemme know if that works.
