SGS2 Battery problem. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear XDA people,
I got some problems with my SGS2, when I charge my battery, when its on 50%, it gives the message Fully charged and it shows that I got 100% battery, but actually I got only 50% Battery... I had this problem with the stock rom, but Flashed a new rom checkrom. Still the same problem and the Battery calibration app isnt working. Even if I wipe battery data, it still gives the same problems.
Got any ideas how to fix this problem?
Thx in advance,
Kylobayd

Yes, a new battery. It sounds defect

Defective battery. If it's within 3 months/90 days I imagine they'd replace it for you, if not you'll need to buy a new battery.

Nah, thats not the problem since I have a 2nd battery.. Its a software problem I guess but I cant figure it out.. really sucks

First step backup data and factory reset .
Second step install stock rom and test .
Fails then reset rom counter to zero and return under warranty .
jje

Did a factory reset still the same problem.
Probably a hardware problem

[Q] Random freeze, mega drain!!! 60%>0% in 15 minutes

Hi all
My phone freezes randomly, it suddenly starts up driving mode, and Vlingo talk.
After that it freezes and drains the battery form 60% to 0% in like 15 minutes.
Deleted all data, changed rom, firmware and kernel but it still keeps freezing
Anyone knows how to get rid of this problem?
Cant return the phone anymore i think because of flashing.
thanks in advance

have you reset the download counter with a usb download jig? if not buy 1 and reset it, make sure stock firmware is flashed before.
your problem seems more than just software if it drains that fast, it may even be a faulty battery, But i would flash stock and reset download counter with a jig and send it off,
just a thought have u a memory card? ifso have you tryed useing the device without it?

I have the exact same problem as you, today I will be enforcing a replacement under the Sale and Supply of Goods Act, 1994
S 14 (2) (B) states that satisfactory quality includes the following:
Fitness for the purpose
Appearance and finish including any relevant packaging
Freedom from minor defects
Safety and durability
It has no freedom from minor defects or is it fit for purpose, so I expect a replacement.

I think that is my only option,i have try'd so many things now.
I don't have a memory card in my phone so that's not it.good thought anyway
But the battery is not the problem, cause I was on the latest official firmware and battery lasted for almost 24 hours seems pretty resaneble to me.
Thanks allot

[Q] Galaxy S2 - Battery problem

Hello XDA I think this is my first question here so please try not to bully me to much in case I'm asking something that was answered before , although I did search for my problem and I didn't find it here.
So it started like 1 week ago , nothing actually changed to my phone since I started having this problem.
First please take a look at the 2 images i attached to see the odd behavior.
So it first begins when I see a STOP sign at the 3g connectivity icon, indicating me that there is not sim inserted(this is not true i always have my sim inserted) and the first thing i do is try to restart the phone, when it opens again the battery level is 1% and if I leave it like this for a few minutes it closes just like my battery would actually be empty, after I remove the battery and open it again it shows me something like 13% and rapidly discharging, after that drains also I remove the battery again and wait like 5 minutes and then try to open it again,it has more than 45% battery left, also if I try to use it as I would normally do if i really had that much battery left, the 3g connectivity icon turns to "No sim stop sign" and it just does that randomly even if I am not using the data plan at all.
I must mention that I did not charge the phone between the images!
I want to know, could this be from software or is it something physic damaged in my phone ?
I am using ICS 4.0.4 updated with Kies and my phone is not rooted.
Sometime i got the same issue, but I use custom rom and kernel.
Recommend you not to update via Kies, it may cause many problems. You may need boot into stock recovery ( Turn off, then hold Volume Up+Home+ Power, while boot logo appears, unhold Power button). In recovery, clear cache. If it does not resolve, try to download firmware from Sammobile, and flash using Odin, i think that 's better.
In my case, it may happen after flashing other kernel. Just remove battery from phone for 30 min or more, and then place it.
Its a known issue for all galaxy s2 handsets (probably with more, I'm not sure). Its a problem of the fuel gauge in our device which unfortunately cannot be fixed. Wiping battery stats won't help, as acknowledged by Google devs. However, I believe that an option in Siyah kernel is there to reset the fuel gauge, which may work (I haven't tested it personally).

[Q] Unknown Battery Status

Hi im having a strange issue with my evo 3d.Im using fully stock everything and have never unlocked phone.
I had this issue on both 2.3 and 4.0.3 stock roms.
At first my evo started to shutting down and when i open it i see a gray battery icon.I read something about kernel patch but
i didnt want to lose warranty and send it to technical service. They changed my battery and gave evo to me back.
I used like 1 month without any problem but after 1 month the problem started again and i sent again.
They replaced motherboard this time. But after 2 weeks this thing started to happen again. What should i do ?
They have replaced my motherboard so i cannot even unlock my bootloader.
When i open the battery widget it gives this information Battery status:Unknown.
Sorry about my bad language
It sounds like your battery contacts in the phone along with the hardware that reads the battery stats and displays it on you screen is corrupt. The fact that you have been from gb to ics and had battery and motherboard replaced narrowed it down. Sadly there doesn't seem to be solution unless someone on here is good with fixing hardware. But even then you may not be able to do repair it yourself even if they gave you a guide on how to. Also unlocking your bootloader probably will not fix your problem due to the fact they replaced your board. My suggestion for you is to take it to a repair shop not sprint and explain them your situation and what has been done to it so far. If you don't care about rooting that is. However if you do then your screwed. Then in that case make a claim with asurion and tell them your phone is defective and say that the techs could not fix the problem and wish to get a replacement. Sorry I couldn't help you bro.
Well , all I can suggest is doing a factory reset, a hard factory reset, how long does a battery last? and is the replacement battery a HTC or an after market battery
(My evil evo is snake bitten by venom sense 4.1 rom and also infected with THE kernel, don't ask me for help, as I couldn't care less if you phone explodes)
I was thinking a bad battery, but I find it interesting that it reports the charge remaining to that widget. Still, I'd try a different battery if possible to rule that out (assuming the techs haven't already tried it).

I've already tried factory reset(sorry ive forgotten to mention it.)I resetted it from bootloader so it means hard reset?Battery lasts 2 days.Im playing dead trigger every day about 30 mins.
They replaced stock battery with original stock one.
I understood that i should try my chance again with warranty i hope they completely replace my phone
Have you cleaned the contacts with rubbing alcohol, both on your battery and the phone contacts?
(don't ask me for help, as I couldn't care less if you phone explodes)
Could be the rom itself try a reflash of a different rom

[Q] HELP! phone crashes with massive battery drop.

I've got this issue where, similar to others my phone crashes and when rebooted the battery had dropped significantly. I ran a log service and found these lines just before the phone crashed - see attachment.
It seems to do this until the value is 0 just before the crash.
Could this be the cause?
Sorry if I've pasted too many lines, I'm just new to this forum. I hope someone can help.

just try to calibrate battery once and see
do this
install any custom Rom you want, then charge the phone to full!!!
then go to recovery then go to advanced and then wipe battery stats !!!! remember charge to 100% then only calibrate it

During things that consume a great deal of power the battery calibration might become a bit "off". Should fix itself after a while though.
I had this same problem. Backup. Take ur sd card out. Charge to 100 percent do a format usb storage/factory reset in settings. Go to recovery clean stats. Clear format/cache/dalvich !make sure you have a safe kernel! Put ur sd card in. Never had this problem again. Am running rooted stock 4.0.4 with siyah kernal.

[Q] Galaxy S3 Possible Death?

Hi there,
For a few days now I have been experiencing random reboots of my phone and I've always just thought that it was the ROM I was on (Omega) as I did not update it for a time (Not too long). Now the phone has decided to keep rebooting and I have installed a recovery of a stock ROM. It also won't turn on sometimes and when it does it just shows a picture of a battery when plugged into a charger. Sometimes it shows charge and sometimes it says there is no charge at all. It also turns itself off sometimes when plugged into a charger. I am not sure whether this is SDS? Any ideas to save my S3?
Cheers,
Jon

Try changing the battery. Confirmed to be working by some users.

Flash a full stock firmware with odin and factory reset, if still the same then it's hardware.

Have you even thought about it possibly being your battery? I've had problems with my battery in the past and just replacing it has fixed most issues.

Flashed a stock ROM, unrooted as well. Problems still occurred and now trying a factory reset. If that doesn't work then I will try a new battery. If all else fails it may have to go back to Samsung as I'm still under warranty.
You should have really tried replacing your battery before anything. It seems like that's the problem
