[Q] User Agent String Location - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hello
I have had some issues finding the User Agent string on my Prime.
Can anyone help me out? Trying to make some changes to it. Thanks!
EDIT: I'd like to change is system wide, not just for the stock browser. E.g. some androids have a "values" folder in the framework-res.apk where they have a user agent string.

yup, its in the browser settings.

You can just type - about:useragent and enter in the browser.

Unfortunately, this will not work on the stock browser. For the stock browser, go to setting> advanced> user agent string.

Sorry, to clarify, I wanted to do a system wide UA change to affect everything. Not just the browser, that I can do. Thank you

Bump, any ideas?

[IDEA] User agent customized by page

I was thinking last night: wouldn't be it be awesome if we could customize the browser's user agent so that a certain page would load a specific user agent? There are often pages that I want loaded in desktop mode, and it's a little annoying to constantly have to go back and forth to change it.
I figure the best way would be to have a user-defined database containing domain names and their preferred user agent. The browser would run a quick cross-reference between the input domain and the database to see if it's listed. If it is listed, change the user agent to the defined one. If not, use the currently defined user agent.
I REALLY want to be a part of this mod. I have no Java experience whatsoever but I'm a quick learner and want to try it out. Can someone point me in the right direction? Where can I find the source for the browser/good resources for Java?
Thanks!
No one?
I had this idea a while back and think it would be fairly easy, albeit tedious, to accomplish.
in cyanogenmod, the browser code is at: packages/apps/Browser/src/com/android/browser
you'd have to
build the UI to customize the UA for a given domain & set the prefs in the db
check the URI against the prefs prior to initiating the download
if match is found, use per-site setting; else use general setting

Finally! Thanks for the reply. I'll look it over when I get home.

This is a good place to start: http://github.com/CyanogenMod/android
Started looking around at the code. Looking at BrowserSettings.java and I see where the UA gets selected. The goal is to now figure out where userAgent gets set.

[Q] Browser user agent

Does anybody know if it is possible to chance Hex browser user agent with a custom string?. I tried about: debug with no luck I have also tried to locate some kind of configuration file, but nothing seems to be browser related files.

I managed to find it. I have to insert about:debug into the url and them access settings from the menu, which are extended with the debug settings. There it is possible to change the UAString to iPad etc. (It is only predefined UA strings however)

[Q] Permanently changing default UAstring to desktop view in browser

Hey everyone,
Does anyone know of an .apk for the DX2 that can change the UAstring within the default browser permanently? I know about the 'about:useragent' or 'about:debug' methods but these are not permanent. It gets pretty annoying to have to type everytime I open the browser.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, whenever our browser goes to a website by default it always displays mobile mode. When you set the UAstring you can set the user agent as android, iphone, desktop, whatever.
The stock browser is fast and I really like using it. I just hate that it always goes to mobile view.
I found this hack for the motorola xoom that does this, I don't know how applicable it would be for us since the xoom runs honeycomb. framework-res-uastring.apk is the APK that xoom owners apply to make the UAString change permanent on their device. Perhaps something similar can be done on our phone.

framework-res-uastring.apk
I'd recommend Boat Browser. It's a fast, lightweight web browser but it also allows user agent settings. You can find some of the details in the below link.

Another good one that I found the other day is Dolphin browser. It is also on the marketplace.

[Q] ICS browser PC version

Hi, can I somehow set to permanently view PC version of web pages instead of default mobile? In Honeycomb, there was user agent string selection, but I canĀ“t find it here. I know there is option to request pc version in menu, but it is not permanent, if I revisit same page later it will bu unchecked and loads mobile version instead.
Thanks.
Hmmm, type about:debug in the address bar and press enter (nothing will happen now) but you will have some additional settings in the settings (have dutch language here so can't name the exact names... but you can change the user agent string there somewhere).
Download ics+ browser!

User agent

Hello folks,
I'm trying ti change the user agent of browser, but always come back to the custom agent.
Anybody knows what else I must do?
Thanks in advance

I presume you mean that after changing user agent with about:useragent, it reverts after closing the browser?
[HACK/FIX] Changing useragent string in browser to Desktop (Permanently), [MOD][BROWSER] 5 User agents, Font size, Full screen, 16 tabs [Bounce-Glow][29/12/11]. Also, a less elegant solution is to add about:useragent to your favourites, and just click it when you start the browser, or simply use a different browser (my preferred solution, Opera as it re-flows text on pinch-zoom).
Thanks buddy
