Tested and working on Leedroid's HC rom which can be found here. They should also work on other similar ROMs or tablets with with 1024x600 screen resolution.
To download click on the preview of your desired animation or splash.
To install extract the bootanimation.zip or downanimation.zip from the downloaded archives and manually copy them over your original animation.
/data/local for bootanimation.zip
/system/customize/resource for downanimation.zip
Some ROMs may have both animations in /system/customize/resource e.g. DeSensed - View and ICSSense OneXXL 1.0
Note: For View users the .zip archives need to be renamed as follows;
bootanimation.zip -> Sprint_bootanimation.zip
downanimation.zip -> Sprint_downanimation.zip
Note: For ICSSense OneXXL users the .zip archives need to be renamed as follows;
bootanimation.zip -> htc_bootanimation.zip
downanimation.zip -> htc_downanimation.zip
Make sure to set the permissions as shown below.
To push the splash1.img connect the tablet in USB debug mode and type the follwing into commands;
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
It's been reported by some users that a down animation other than stock can not be used without being unable to power off the Flyer/View resulting in a restart. For this purpose I've attached a stock downanimation.zip. Restoring this to the appropriate directory solves the issue.

Just installed [ with latest Lee's HC ROM ]
got to say its really great !!!
Much appreciated ... thank you
ps. any tips on how to change/replace/mute the boot sound
EDIT: boot sound solved !
Also running Lee's HC. Splash screen has weird colours (pink htc logo etc) and I can't get the boot/down animation's to show. Have been fastboot flashing splash copying boot/down with root explorer (and changing permissions)...
Beautiful stuff btw, checked out your work for DHD, loving it!

Thanks very much! Glad you got it sorted in the end. Just for everyone else's benefit the boot sound is called "andoid_audio.mp3" and can be found in the \data\local folder along with bootanimation.zip.

Thanks for the DHD compliments! What type of Flyer/View do you have? I'm not sure if it's different for all these variations as I assumed something like a boot or down animation would be relatively simple. Have you tried re-pushing the splash screen?
I'll definitely look into it, in the meantime I'll be whipping up flashable .zips for installing via recovery which might rule out some subconscious errors from installing manually. I'll attach a stock splash1.img to this post later as well. Hopefully someone more experienced in the Flyer/View forums will be able to shed some light on the situation

The boot animation is working for me on DesnsedView 1.5. Except it's located in \system\customize\resource\ and should be renamed to Sprint_bootanimation.zip the downanimation goes in the same place and should be named Sprint_downanimation.zip
The bootani is working for me, but I'm still on stock HC rooted/s-off on the View. Another interesting tidbit....the bootani is upside down when it runs...like the "bee" is up at the power button end of the device.

I had this problem when making my own animation - here is a quick rundown of what I was dealing with:
1. after many, many tries getting animations to work properly I *finally* got the right encoding on desc.txt (Mac user) and the right zip compression. Boot ani finally worked, but I wanted to tweak it to a different color.
2. tweaked animation, re-zipped, duplicated zip to use for both boot and down. Down worked perfectly, but boot kept showing my old animation.
3. decided to change folder from /part0 to /custom in an effort to force it to use the new animation. Boot shows correct animation, but down does the reboot loop and kicks me back to my home screen.
4. changed folder back to /part0 for down animation; now it works properly.
Maybe this will help?
Edit: never mind, just saw it's already called /part0. Weird.
Thank you for answering, may I ask what is "store compression", I just placed the data folder back in the zip allowing it to replace the original.
Edit: did a quick google, everything is fine and working, thanks a lot

I can confirm that after signing the downanimation.zip the Flyer can power off as normal. However, the animation itself loops a few times with uneven frame rate despite playing around with the desc.txt file.
Has anyone else had any more luck with the downanimation.zip issue?

it won't be as appealing if it loops... and looping was giving me issues such as the android just disappearing and a black screen staying on till boot. anyone wanna edit the images and add more animations? Maybe a CRT turn off animation similar to the portal boot animation, and then put a text saying Android or something?

you want the original bootanimation.zip file that is supposed to loop? its f*cked since the black screen keeps coming on instead of a loop :S this is actually a evo boot animation tweaked for our device (evo takes sh!t long to boot)
I can edit the images but IDK how to do a crt animation on photoshop using different images
Will this work on myt4g with S=off and stock everything?
Yep it should
Rooted/OC'd/De-bloated
For the boot animation loop you have to edit the text file that is for screen size frame rate and how many times to play each folder.

Nexus prime animations does not have any HTC logo.
1. Check downloaded zip's for error
2. Did you rename the new animation as old
3. Have you copied the animation to the right place
3. Permissions rw-, r--, r-- (are you system have a r/w permission?)
All the animations I have personally tested and all work well.

Nice - I looked at the default.xml in CapRomBeta and only had to rename the bootanimation.zip to TMOUS_bootanimation.zip & TMOUS_downanimation.zip because they are in the correct folder, just had those names in the .xml - works now.

Hello fellow Rezounders
Not being satisfied with current boot animation offerings, I fired up Adobe Flash and got to making a new, simple boot animation. It isn't labeled "CyanogenMod" or "Super Ultra Special Hax ROM 8.3". Just the one thing we all use in common: HTC Rezound.
Previews
v1 Black
v1 White
v2 Black
Instructions
First, you'll want to choose which version you want. v1 is larger, but stutters a little (like most boot animations) on the first loop through due to its size. v2 is a lot smaller so it doesn't stutter.
AOSP ROMs (CyanogenMod, AOKP):
1. download file
2. put it on your SD Card
3. copy it to /data/local/ using ES File Explorer or another file manager.
Sense 3.6 ROMs:
1. download Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip
3. put it on your SD Card
4. copy it to /system/customize/resource/
5. rename hTC_bootanimation.zip, found in /system/customize/resource/ to hTC_bootanimation.zip.bak

Vigor_VZW_bootanimation was in /system/customize/resource/ right? I don't use a Sense ROM so it's kinda hard for me to troubleshoot this issue.
EDIT: I looked into it a little more (read: googled it) and came across this post. I've made the corrections to the zip, please try Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip which I just attached to my first post. Also, rename/remove "HTC_bootanimation.zip" from the /system/customize/resource/ directory

Wow.
I didn't even ask you to look into it and you did! You're awesome.
I appreciate the effort, but it still didn't work. I haven't had any luck with any boot animation I've tried on this phone. Either I'm doing something wrong, or my phone doesn't like cooperating.

Are you on Business Sense with Sense 4.0 or 3.6? I didn't realize there were two different versions. I have no idea how to change the boot animation on Sense 4.0. I can't find any relevant information at all.
If anyone wandering by this thread knows how, feel free to drop a note.
Re: ROM-agnostic Boot Animation (now with Black!)
I'm on 3.6.
Downloaded the new files. Followed your exact instructions, still doesn't work. I think it's just something wrong with the phone or the ROM. This is a fresh flash, too.
Could it be because I don't have an SDcard? My phone doesn't read SDcards anymore, so I'm using only the internal storage.
Thanks again!

Very nice...very clean. I like this a lot.
Some users don't always take a look at other threads since we have infinitybillion forums for the HTC ONE... Thought I would share a boot animation I created specifically for our devices. First, a preview:

Hi, is it possible to make request for qmg file or boot animation.zip to be used in samsung s4 w/o the htc one word and the final screen instead of one change to my name? thank you!!:victory:fingers-crossed:
When I try this, the T-Mobile animation keeps coming back...I have only been successful with a custome kernel, which causes other issues...is there any way to flash this on a rooted stock HTC One? Even if I try to manually install it, it doesn't work.
Thanks,
mm0

My one is pretty much stock as well. I install it manually by copying the files to the correct directories and changing their permissions. After that I edit the ".xml" file and point it to use whatever boot animation I want. All you have to do is make sure the naming is correct during your edit. Save the file and reboot.
If that doesn't help, can you be a little more specific on the steps you took to install it manually?
I obviously missed the xml file that needs edited... where is it located?

The full set of directions are near the end of the first post in the link to the boot animation. It's a little more detailed, but all you need to do is navigate to the directory "/system/customize/CID" and find the appropriate .xml file for your boots. then add the lines or information I have written out in the main thread. Hope that helps. :good:

Even when I edit the xml file, that comes back on boot with the original info. It looks like I will have to use a custom kernel, or something...but the only custom kernel I have found has issues with the touch screen. Oh well. I guess I will wait until T-Mobile releases 4.2, so I can have more options.

Upload a copy of the xml file you have. I'll take a look at it and see if I can get something working for you.

It's not a matter of having the XML wrong...I save the changes I make, and even close out, and reload it to verify they are there, but as soon as I reboot the phone, it has reverted back to what it was before I made the change.

I understood. I was wanting you to upload two copies of the xml file (one already edited and one stock or like you have now) and I will package it into a flashable zip. That way you can flash it from recovery and it should stick. Plus I will make a stock flashable zip so you can go back to what it was if you want.

Here you go, try flashing the edited zip xml zip file from recovery and see if that works. If it does not, let me know. I included the stock xml zip just in case, but make sure you got some type of backup to fall back on in case something has gotten buggered.

AROMA INSTALLER COMING SOON... This will be a universal install of BOOT ANIMATIONS including "Enable Custom Boot" for Samasung. It will also Have "Samsung QMG Shutdowns" and "Boot Logo" options for Moto Droid RAZR Maxx, RAZR Maxx HD, and Moto Atrix.
This is a small collection of Boot Animations that I have found over the years of cruising around the pages of XDA. Some were created by the creative minds here and some created by myself. Either way I post them here to share with the community that has given me so much. This collection has been ported to fit 1280x720 xhdpi screens. Feel free to check out my original posting for even more bootanimation include flashable installer that includes the fix for the .qmg files Samsung users need.
THE QUICK GUIDE TO CREATING YOUR OWN BOOT ANIMATIONS"because I can feed you fish and you're good for the night or teach you to fish and you'll be good forever!!"
I have enjoyed boot animations since I started messing around with phones. I finally felt comfortable enough to start making my own and this is how i did it:
1 - First is you need an animation such as a video clip or gif whatever. I personally like them to be less than 30 seconds with the main focal part about 10 secs. By that time the phone has started up.
2 - then you need to extract the frames/convert using infanview or similar app, to image format, jpg is smaller, png is better quality and some just plain look better this way. Using Irfanview in the "options" menu click "extract all frames" then you can fine tune using "file" menu "batch conversion/rename" option
3 - download Boot Animation Factory and thank the dev for such a great tool for previewing and creating Boot Animations. From there the app will take you to creating the bootanimation.zip file needed for your phone.
4 - Then it's just a matter of getting it to where it needs to be. You can check my thread here which gives all the the different locations for various phones store the file for manual installs. There is also the "flashable zips" and "the Aroma Installer" for multiple options!
5 - last thing is to give thanks and credit where it's due and share your wonderful new creations with all of us here on XDA!!! Thank you
that is a very quick run down of how I am making Boot Animations today

It sounds like you were able to locate original bootanimation and location? Just make sure the name of the new bootanimation matches exactly what the original says, then you need to make sure permissions are at to rw-r--r--. If you have never changed permissions before use a file manager like es file manager or root Explorer, long press the file and change permissions so the top set of boxes has the first 2 checked and the next two set of boxes down only have the first box
I posted a screenshot.
If that doesn't work must put the stock one back and should be good. Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks stangdriver44 I was able to do all that but my problem is that after I did all that you described I turn it off and turn it on, the animation starts but it get frozen almost at the end and that's it, I can't use the cell
well I wasn't able to fix my problem... I send it to fix with my carrier and they replaced the PCB, so now I have a new IMEI and it was under warranty, anyway just an update...

WOW!! I'm so sorry to hear that something relatively simple as changing the bootanimation turned out to be a nightmare for you. I wish I could've been more help to you. I've just never had or heard of such an issue like this until now. I have had a few here and there for unknown reasons not work over the past few years. Usually it will just show a black screen and then finally boot up though. I forgot to remind people in the OP to make a nandroid backup before trying this. As I would ALWAYS RECOMMEND backup before trying anything new. Again though I'm sorry to hear that it was such a major ordeal. I hope this doesn't scare you way from modding and customizing your android device as to me personally this is one of the greatest joys of an open source device.

I know!! it looked very simple but don't know what happened! then I try to reflash it something else went wrong etc. etc.so I end up using a GSM nokia for a week
In retrospect it was a very nice week! hahahaha that week I only check my email/facebook/etc, etc when I was at home at night and not everyday...anyway this won't scare me, I'll try it again! I want that bootanimation on my phone!! :good::good:
i had the same experience too..
mine was razr maxx hd running stock 9.16.6 trying to run moto x's bootanimation
something wrong happened and got stuck in bootloop
reflash the phone to get it working again... using matt's utility (thx God for matt), fortunately i can still put it in AP fastboot mode
no more changing bootanimation for me though, unless i know how to manipulate maxx HD's internal files from AP fastboot mode

I am really sorry you had this unknown(right now) problem! You may have to grad from the OP that I personally don't have this phone, but my girl does. I will go through each bootanimation myself and find a solution for this. It will help me to know which one you tried and what steps you took? Again in very sorry for this problem. I have used all of these on my current phone (Samsung S2) and have used on my past 3 phones. Keep you all posted. In the mean time you should check out my other CONFIRMED working mod

thx for getting back fast...
i used zooyork's moto x bootanimation and ended up stuck in bootloop. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2393012
strangely, i then used fabio's moto x bootanimation and ended up fine. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390690
dont know what the difference because when i opened up both zip they seemed fine
not much difference between the 2 except for zooyork's has more file and running at 35fps compared to fabio's 30fps
also, the zooyork's use fullscreen while fabio's use 560 x 960px
i dont think those differences matter, dont you ?

Yes
They're like this one.Season themes.I think(i'm not sure)they update accordingly,based on Moto Boot services,which is a crime,although you can download it for free from Store,it's only meant to work for Moto mobiles obviously
Great, works great for me to manual installation.
