I had one pre-ordered until yesterday. I called staples and they still had no official word from asus when their first shipment of transformers was coming in. I saw some of the grey CBIL ones on the FS website and jumped on one of those. It would have been great ti get a champagne transformer but again i don't really care as long as it performs well.

Why do people call it gold? It is silver. It is less gold than the amethyst is purple yet people refer to that as "gray." It looks like brushed aluminum and is why bought it. Looks great and is in perfect working order.
I got one delivered last week from abt.com. No dock yet though.
I also got mine from abt and it does look more silver than gold...I didn't want this color at first but now I'm happy with it

Well.. because it is called champagne gold? I haven't seen it in real life, but on the pictures it appears to be silver yes, strange they called it champagne gold.
My Champagne model from Abt is being delivered today. I also have a Gray from Best Buy, so I'll be comparing colors and will report back in.

Agreed. It's _much_ less gold than the Gray is purple. In comparing the two side-by-side, I'm liking the Champagne much better and can't wait to see the dock. If the Champagne checks out fine (screen bleed, dead pixels, etc.) then the Gray will be going back to Best Buy.
I received my champagne 32GB today. It's a nice brushed silver look.

I got the Gray and my partner got the "Gold" one by accident. (Ebay seller didn't label it correctly). It's really more of a silver with just a tinge of gold just as the gray has only a very light tinge of purple. They are both really beautiful colors in my opinion.
I don't think anyone would go wrong with either one, unless they have their heart set on a particular choice from the beginning.

If only my wifi speeds didn't drop as soon as I walk out of the room the router is in.
though the wifi works well enough that I can get by in my house, though I'm still contemplating returning it, when you pay $500 for a premium tablet it shouldn't be slower
than the companies older model as well as most other tablets out there.

The cover has a hinge on it which keeps it closed. It snaps into the dock connectors then opens and closes similar to a laptop lid. I saw it on one of the reviews, but I have looked at so many videos I can't remember which one it was, but the guy liked it. I wonder how strong it is though.
Any concern that this sleeve doesn't cover the back side?

With the imminent release date for UK stores, I am put off more and more that the Prime has some teething troubles (e.g. GPS and WiFi performance), and am holding back on placing my order until I see the rollout with ICS in full effect. What is really troubling me though is I had my heart set on the Champagne Gold finish, and I see in one store that all the Amethyst Grey editions have been pre-ordered (sold out) whereas there are hardly any orders for the Champagne Gold version. Is there something wrong with Champagne Gold?
Am I missing something obvious here? I rather like the look of the Champagne Gold - even though I have not yet seen it in the flesh, only on computer screen pictures/video reviews. Is this not selling so well because everybody has preconceptions that tablets must be black/grey? Is it some sort of male hormone repression thing preventing people opting for any colour that deviates from the norm? I mean, if I order Champagne Gold should I also have a handbag or something? What shade of lipstick should... no, never mind.
Perhaps there is a physical issue such as the Champagne Gold finish gets scratched more easily or shows up scratches worse? Possibly there is an issue with the case expanding after a couple of weeks and losing its snug fit (as with another device using Champagne Gold)? Is it that accessories for the Prime will need to match the finish, and no third party accessories come in Champagne Gold, only grey? Maybe the link to the grey version was publicised and nobody could find the link to the gold?
This is a small thing to worry about, but in my obsessive world and lust for the Transformer Prime I feel I need answers to be satisfied. Can anybody help please?
I own a champagne gold one. It's more silver than gold and no there is nothing wrong with the color (so far, got it 10 days now). So far i didn't have the urge to buy a matching handbag or apply lipstick. Also nothing changed in my mind or around the genital area

Ahh, thanks. Some good responses on the thread you posted there. Nothing that speaks badly about the Champagne Gold though, so it looks like it is down to a personal choice rather than any defects or problems (seems maybe visible fingerprints could cause a problem though.)
Definitely evidence to back up the overwhelming interest in Amethyst Grey on your post, but so far Gold is the winner here! Choices, choices.
I got the grey because the bezel is black and matches a lot more.

Ahh, just as I was afraid... the Champagne Gold does not match whereas black does. But match what exactly?
The colors that matter to me come from the hella fine super ips screen.
At the moment for UK customers all you will find is the Amethyst model available. Because of this the majority of pre-orders will be centred around this particular couloured model.
As such don't get dragged into the belief the darker Prime is the one everyone wishes to own.
I myself have chosen to pre-order the Champagne model, purely because it balances well with both the interior of my vehicle where I will use it a lot and my office. In other words it's simply a cosmetic choice, nothing more and I don't expect either models to differ in any other way.
It seems that here in Australia we are only getting the Gold one!

If it is indeed black then it's not an OEM part. I wonder how the quality would be in that case.
I fully expect to get a blue one, but for $10 shipped its worth trying.
I ordered a black one when they first popped up on ebay. I'll update with pics and info when it gets here. I just plan on using it as a template to see about making alternate material backs so if it's black or actually blue and listed wrong it doesn't matter to me.
Looks like they raised the price. I'll wait to see results. My back has a few weird scuff/wear marks and I'd pay $10 to get a new one to have on hand. They seems like they'd be very easy to replace.
I think it would be awesome if it turned out to be black soft touch even though that isn't original. If the quality was good anyway...

Anyways I like how they also cut out the dimple and put a small logo at the bottom. Just makes it more interesting than just a slab of wood.

I was able to pick up and hold multiple example devices they had at their CES booth, and I absolutely loved the quality. The one I wish they made for the Nexus 6 is the leather. A guy at the booth had the leather on his iPhone for the past few months that he showed me. The wear of the leather made it look absolutely captivating and unique. I loved it.

That's the whole reason I got excited when I approached their booth at CES. Such a simple way to give me the wood back I want, and a bit of protection to keep the actual phone looking nice. I have some 3m film in a roll at the house that I'm tempted to cover the sides since the toast cover doesn't wrap all the way around. It's such a large phone already so I don't want a huge case, but I don't want to run completely naked either. This seems like the perfect way to protect and make it look more gorgeous than it already is.

Surprisingly smooth! It still has that wood, somewhat grainy texture, but very very smooth. So no possibility of splinters!

Just free shipping. They usually don't take too long, this is my third toast (used 2 for previous Moto X's), and they came in fast. I think it's just because this was a brand new product and they released it before the weekend, so they didn't actually start making things till yesterday or today. Did you just stick it directly onto the original back of the phone? I think I read somewhere that someone had removed the back cover of the phone and replaced it with the Toast cover. That's what I can't decide.. Whether to replace the back cover with the Toast, or just stick it directly to the back. Is it raised any at all on the edges to cause a little annoyance when gripping the phone?
Been going back and forth on whether I should have gotten the silver phone. I ordered black. I cannot find many reviews that show a decent picture of the black model like the do the silver and white.

Some good pics of the graphite there.... I myself was on the fence between graphite and aluminum. I eventually went aluminum simply because every other phone i've owned was black. I'm sticking with it but definitely had some second thoughts
My Oneplus and Oneplus 2 are black so I was stuck between the white and silver, went with silver myself because of the shine it has to it. Looks absolutely beautiful in my opinion. Made sure to grab that protect just in case. The wait is unbearable though lol! #silversurfers

I never thought I'd say this, but the white one looks damn good.
The only thing I'd be afraid of is that it might show marks and dirt easier.

I ordered the graphite and then had second thoughts that I should have gone with silver but I've got a delivery date of Oct 27th so not going to cancel. Plus after seeing more of the graphite I'm becoming glad I went with it.
Sooo much darkness with my previous phones so I will go with Silver
Silver looks cheap, especially with the non matching "silver plastic" at the base of the rear. All these people who canceled their graphite will be kicking their selves once they get the silver in person. Just watch
