Is Asus screwed? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

So I'm sure some of you have heard that the 64gb Transformer Primes have been delayed until Q2 of 2012. My thoughts on this is that Asus screwed up their tablet launch because by the time they get the 64gb models out, their tablet will be outdated. By Q2 the next gen iPad will be out, the Acer A700 will be out along with Lenovo's tablet. Both the Acer and Lenovo tablets will run the Tegra 3 processor and are rumored to have full HD screens. The only reason I was willing to get the Prime in the first place was because I didn't want to wait.
What are everybody else's thoughts on this. Anyone feeling the same I am?

This is news to me. Got a link to this announcement?

Some of this information true! however I don't see any benefit of FULL HD screen with 10" or even 12" just like the HDTV you will not going to enjoy the HD if the Screen not 50"+

*I forgot to mention both of these tablets are supposed to have 2gb of ram.

the next gen iPad is still a rumor.
A rumor started on the back of the announcement of the Prime.
When have Apple ever launched a new product without showing any screens of it.
I bet iPad 3 won't arrive to 4th quarter at best, same as the next gen Galaxy tab.

Still waiting to see how Android with Tegra3 perform on those high definition.
And if the screen looks good (color, contrast ratio, refresh rate, brightness, viewing angle) And the huge battery is surely to handle the more power hungry screen.
And from a general consummer point of view I hardly see someone buy the Acer over the Prime when looking at both of them side by side.

Well there is a rumor of a smaller 7" iPad to be released 1st quarter next year. I don't know if you follow digitimes but there is evidence that apple is working on something because they have stopped ordering ipad 2 displays and new displays are being ordered from LG and Sharp.

Got an e-mail from Amazon about 7 hours ago. They're sending my 64gb on 4th january.
You should check your info before posting
Anyways, i want the prime because with the dock (for the extra battery + usb + sd slot), and because it feels like a real useful thing, and not just like an expensive "toy", which is what i feel are the other tablets. i don't care if they are a bit better (remember that having better specifications also means price will probably be higher), i feel that, just for the dock, the transformer will be way more useful.

I have no doubt the Tegra 3 will perform well. I actually believe there is a benchmark for the T3 on the HD display in my second link. If the Acer and Lenovo tablets are as they are rumored I'm sure they will easily outsells the prime given the price point is good. I really think Tegra 3 ice cream sandwich tablets will definitely benefit from 2gb of ram and I've always had to worry about resource management on all my devices it'd be nice not to worry about it for once.

I did check look at the link. Did your tablet actually ship out or it will be shipping? As for the keyboard dock since the idea is out there now others will definitely follow.

I had already read that (if you look at it, it's 10 days old, it was already posted in this forum). It only says UK 64Gb are being delayed on the original article in slashgear (link in your own link), and everything is based on what one shop has said (nothing official from ASUS... again). In their shop they still say "Release date to be confirmed. Expected Quarter 2 2012". It reminds me of what happened with Amazon and the 32gb gray... and you see, most had it by the 19-20...
My guess is that they're just protecting themselves against the ****storm of having a earlier release date and then changing it. And again, it has only happened in the UK, in that particular shop.
Anyway, my 64GB Gray Prime is expected to be shipped 4th January from Amazon.de. It was a "we will send you an e-mail when we have a confirmed release date" until tonight. I will keep you informed if it ships or not
And about the dock, the original transformer has been out since march/april i think. Acer did something similar, i believe, but no one else. Maybe it's just a patents issue, maybe they don't believe in the format. For me, it's what makes this tablet worth it.

Manufacturers leak specs and info of a prototype often to wet the appetite of consumers and enthusiasts . But when real manufacturing begins, you start to see how the real model differs from the prototype because sacrifices had to be made for mass production. I wouldn't be surprised of the 2 GB ram i reduced to 1GB when real manufacturing begins.

Here's the reality Tegra 3 just does not have a high enough gpu to run a 1900x1200 screen it will not work Acer is going to take a flop

The main benefit I see it you can mirror the device on HD TV without any rescaling. Other than that I think it's useless and will slow down games. I wonder if the delay is related to GPS problem.

Nvidia said they had optimized the Tegra 3 to run at 2560x1440 resolution. You can hear them say this in the early demos for the Kal-El demonstrations.
I feel the Tegra 3 will easily handle the high resolution screens. Only problem that I would want a super IPS+ display as well. No point in having the higher resolutions if the screen is so much dimmer then the Prime.

just because they said it doesn't make it true, it will run that hig of a screen but it wont be as fluid as we would like. The GPU in tegra 3 is enough to run our screen but once you get higher you have to manipulate that many more pixles on every transition which is a gpu hog and ram hog

I think so also. if higher end PC, being more powerful, has issues playing games n such at super high resolutions, what makes people think a tablet can handle it any easier. we won't know till these devices are released. can't wait to see how tegra3 performs with it. I think with the prime, we hit a sweet spot on performance and display quality. even once tegra3 gets put in phones, nvdia already stated they will be downclocked and more optimized.

Remember what the google dev said in her blog.... If you have a 2x higher amount of pixels it needs 2x the cpu power per core to have the same speed as the device with less pixels. For Prime vs Iconia:
Prime: 1280x800 = 1,024,000 pixels on 1.4Ghz per core
Iconia: 1920x1200 = 2,304,000 pixels on probably 1.4GHz too or maybe 1.6Ghz. So it got 2.25x more pixels.
Thus, according to the Google Dev, if you want to have the same performance on the Iconia as on the Prime you'll need each core clocked to 1.4x2.25= 3.15Ghz and I don't think that is gonna happen really soon So Iconia will probably be overall slower than the Prime.

It's worth $400 tops, as it has only minor improvements over the NI Adam or Viewsonic gTablet both of which are around $375.
The only way I could see the Xoom close to $500 would be IF it had a Pixel Qi LCD which would put it in the ballpark of the NI Adam w/PQ LCD.
NONE of these tablets really should be going for more than $500. You can get a more expensive to manufacture w/better featured netbook for c. $350.
Anyways at this point I'd just wait(unless you absolutely need it right now) for Kal El Tegra tablets to start showing up... quad core cortex-a9 (w/NEON now) and a improved GPU(bah! they still didn't go unified shaders!).
At least $539 would be less egregiously overpriced than the Samsung Galaxy Tab, although that's about the best I can say for that price and those specs...

The only problem with waiting is that there is ALWAYS something bigger and better around the corner. At some point you have to just jump in and get something.
I don't know if $539 is too out of line compared to something like the iPad 2 WiFi only model at $499. Although if I could dual boot an iPad2 between iOS and Honeycomb, I would probably get that. LOL
Do I need it? Nah... (see post on some other thread) but I would like something a little more responsive than the 101. I mean it's an awesome tablet as-is, but still...

For $500 I'd still have to say only a Pixel Qi display would make it worth it. iPad2 is still overpriced, as Apple products ALWAYS are for what you get so it's not much of a pricing measuring stick. Personally I think that c. $300 is a fairer price point for most of the Tegra 2 tablets, but it looks for the moment that producers are attempting to cash in on the lukewarm tablet "mania", but I expect that more realistic prices will eventually appear. (Was kind of sad to see even ASUS & MSI cashing in with their pricing as well since they're usually much more reasonable in their pricing...)
As to faster: yep Tegra 2 is no doubt snappier than aany cortex-a8 that I've used, but I'm not so sure that it'll be as much as you expect or worth it.
As to waiting for something: not true IMO. It's looking at the moment that it will be 1+y intervals between nVidia releases and IIRC their next scheduled Tegra chip (after kal el) looks to be more desktop/server oriented. And the rest of the ARM licensee gang are just now starting to release cortex-a9 based SoCs after dragging their heels for almost 2y! (This is why I'm not planning on replacing my gtab for likely 3 or more years as by even then I'm expecting that it'll likely still at least place in the mid-range unless things change drastically or some real tablet "mania" actually appears.)
iPad2: apparently a disappointment. I've read that early benching shows not much improvement over the first one, and is speculated to again be based on cortex-a8 given this...

Acer A700 vs Asus Prime vs Lenovo IdeaPad...FIGHT!!

OK, this Acer tab looks decent but tech demo. won't be released till much later in the year.
another upcoming tablet people mentioned waiting on was something from Lenovo. Well I found an article on it and this has no chance of beating the Prime out. This for Barry n others..lmao
The display is inferior
Power/Processor is inferior
the front and back cam inferior
its keyboard dock looks inferior to Prime
from what they stating on battery life, that's also inferior to Prime
Also there is no 2GB of Ram. its only gonna be 1 . lmfao
so all in all looks inferior all around the board, although a decent lower end tablet. Prime users on the High End
I seriously hope this isn't the so called Lenovo tablet I've been hearing so much about that's reason to pass Prime up. Cuz if it is, its been seriously dumbed down in specs from what people been barking. Its gonna have same resolution as prime but lower quality or not as good.
here is a link to the failed Lenovo tablet and it's a very recent article. not some hype article from months ago just speculating on specs. This is more accurate/recent
http://landofdroid.com/2012/lenovo-announce-ideatab-s2-10-inch-tablet-plus-keyboard-combo/
Also, the new Toshiba tablet is inferior also tl Prime..lol. can't believe this tabs are what people was saying are better than prime with higher resolution screens. they all have inferior specs and displays. not sure about that Acer though but I will find out.

I will have to thank E.mote on this thread. In one thread, the 3 most talked about tablets to pass up Prime for has been killed in one thread. The Acer700 isn't even coming out for consumers. The Lenovo tablet had its specs seriously dumbed down and is not having super high resolution screen, has only 1Gb of ram, and an inferior dual core Processor. Same with the new Toshiba tablet coming out. Dumbed down specs and basically inferior all around the board. the later 2 will have same resolution but lower quality being only IPS. Prime has Super IPS+.
That only leaves the Ipad3 left. I'm sure that will be the most interesting out of mentioned tablets that are upcoming. Looks like Prime might be king of Android tablets for majority of 2012 if not the whole year. lol.
Acer said "1st half" for A700, which most took to be Q2. My guess would be May/June, allowing for ramp-up of screen yields. Tegra 2 tabs (excl Xoom) came out in April last year. More interesting would be the price. I'm expecting $500, especially if iPad 3 comes out with QXGA res at same price.
Would have been nice for Sasha bud to comment on screen quality. Guess we'll get that soon enough as CES rolls along.
Would like to see Lenovo LePad in on the dust-up, which also sports fullHD & Teg3. The LePad will be priced higher, since it's for biz segment. Should've called it the ThinkTab. Engadget has a brief hands-on of the LePad. I'd expect this for 2nd half.

Agree about the Tosh Excite. OMAP4 is 2011 stuff, and price isn't competitive.

now this Lenovo one looks decent. Might follow the same fate as prime regarding GPS since back is metal also. He said metallic feel so material of backplate still needs confirming. its said to run tegra3 and higher resolution. if you read further down article into the comments, you will see alot of worries n doubt on it. Main one being that the higher resolution will eat up alot more processing power of tegra3, even of clocked slightly higher. That will make it less powerful on performance. That's why I think Prime n Tegra3 hit the sweet spot when it comes to great processing power and an excellent HD display also. Also they said this is aimed more for the business market. with that display, if specs hold to be true, it will make this device considerably more expensive than the Prime. most people I've seen here posted $500 being the Max they would pay for a tablet, regardless of specs. IF Lenovo could bring this tablet at same range as prime it would be a miracle but I doubt it though.
Something else I noticed, this tablet is thick like the original Toshiba Thrive. Definitely not slim like the Prime. If they going to make it thick like that might as well of added a full size USB port. But it doesn't have it. only looks to have full size SD card slot. That UI looked horrible also as it wasn't optimized yet. The guy also said release date hasn't even been "Officially" said or thought of yet. it will release in China first then internationally. So expect this around May/June earliest for China release. then a month or 2 later for international release. Looks like a very long wait. by then something better will be out or right around the corner..lol
>Might follow the same fate as prime regarding GPS since back is metal also
From the (newly linked) vid, it's faux metal. Regardless, since it's for business, wireless performance will be reliable. Part of the higher cost.
Edit: The guy before the rep says that K2 will be for "$399 for 16GB version, available in Q2." Pretty sure that ain't true.
>if you read further down article into the comments
I don't pay much attention to Youtube comments as a rule. Whatever said at this point is merely speculation. We'll see when it (and the Acer) comes out. Since the Prime can do 1080p via HDMI no problem, I expect same perf for screen res. If UI lags persist with ICS, then it's an OS problem.
>this tablet is thick like the original Toshiba Thrive
Yes, the Prime's thinness and metal back are strong appeals. I wouldn't say K2 is as fat as the Thrive--which is pretty dang fat--but more like the OG TF or Acer A500. However, for business segment, durability counts more than style.
>Will either of those snap into a keyboard dock with a battery and extra ports?
For Android tabs, I think Asus will have exclusive bragging rights on this. Aside from Asus, I don't see much enthusiasm from vendors for Android tabs. For Win8 tabs, I expect many--if not most--setups to be hybrid w/ detachable screen.
Thanks I will keep my prime!

Wait until you guys see the tablet that Razor is introducing at CES alongside their overpriced laptop. I am here at MGM in Vegas gambling my ass off with some tech freaks. The guy who I was talking to at the Craps table asked me what I was here to see and I told him a few things. After I told him I was a gamer and a Android freak, he then said, "wait until you see the tablet that Razor is introducing." I told him I was getting the prime and he said to come back and tell him if I still wanted the prime after seeing the Razor. Bottom Line. Its probably going to cost a arm and a leg.

I'm actually disappointed by Lenovo's quad core tablet. I won't even go into detail on why... Lenovo's dual core Krait tablet is good on CPU (won't know how well it does compared to tegra 3 til we see comparison benchmark) but Adreno GPU is horrendous. But overall, terrible showing by lenovo on tablet front...
Now, Acer's quad core is interesting. Except, it'll be on same 1.3ghz Tegra 3 (according to The Verge & Android Police.. although, i think it is speculation) with 1080p display and must likely, with 2 gig of ram. If it does get released in Q2, the price will most likely be at $500 (for 16g).. I doubt they'll go higher and compete with Apple and Samsung. I personally like the build quality (certainly an upgrade from the ugly Iconia A500).. but...
Is it worth the wait for 1080p resolution and 2 gig of Ram? Considering that android has dearth of dedicated tablet apps, the high resolution and ram will hardly be taken advantage of except GAMES and 1080p movies.
I'll wait and see what Samsung and Asus to offer...
Lenovo IdeaTab S2 10, 7, and 5-inchers
The IdeaPad S2 10 comes closest to the Asus Prime in configuration, with dock that houses an extra 10-hr batt (20-hr total). Would be interesting to see the 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon's bench numbers. Available Q2.

One of the few 5" toys. Comes with GB, but that can be rectified.
Shocker !
The so called "competition" to the Prime won't blow it away in any regard, won't be cheaper and won't come out before god knows when.
Maybe getting the Prime isn't such a bad idea after all.

they aren't sure anymore if the USB can be used for charging.
personally, i'm not blown away by either of those tablets, is 1080p enticing? sure, but i'll take my cost effective, good dock having, in my hands now prime over something that may be out by the middle of this year.
being that toshiba wants to charge 500+ for the 16gb dual core a200, these tablets are going to be priced right out of the market.
I'm too sold on the keyboard dock to have considered either of these new devices. I'd like the 2GB DDR3 that appears to be an option on the Lenovo tablet, I admit... browser tabs are still unloaded more than I'd like on 1GB RAM. I don't value high-resolution screens above the keyboard dock, though; high-res screens are pretty, but the keyboard dock is transformative (no pun intended).

700t= AMAZING!

Interesting article. ASUS is coming out with a TF700T with a higher resolution screen and it looks like they fixed the wireless issues by no longer hiding the antennas behind the aluminum case.
http://www.slashgear.com/asus-transformer-prime-tf700t-revealed-with-1080p-display-09207646/
The article says it uses the same dock as the TF201. It is also built on the same Tegra 3 quadcore 1.3GHz processor.
People are going to get mad that you posted this again.
But we've all seen it.
Stupid resolution for a tablet, they only did it to compete with the others. The battery will suck so hard.
For Example, Galaxy Nexus has one of the worse battery life due to its resolution, it isn't a good thing. The 1280x800 is good enough or perfect for a 10.1", if you want to watch a full hd movie or whatever you use bigger screens.
thats crazy i had no idea that this was even coming out, its only been posted on here 5,000+ times..
Stupid thread.
Get XDA to make a thread for the new TF700.. then you kids can play there..

The high PPI on the Galaxy Nexus makes it very comfortable to read small text. The lower PPI on the Prime was something I noticed immediately when I got it last week. I welcome the higher resolution.
Let me know how much you like it in 7 or so months, in which you've already bought a tablet that will be obsolete in a few more months later when Tegra 4 is released.
I hate they're not giving these other devices different names. If someone tells me they own a Asus Transformer Prime they could be talking about one of like 3 or 4 different devices. It's almost as bad as saying you own a Galaxy S2, which could refer to like 8-10 different phones, some with drastically different specs.
Will people stop freaking saying 'obsolete'? This new tablet doesn't make the TF201 obsolete, and even the TF101 isn't obsolete. All these tablets still perform magnificently, and just because people feel butthurt for dumb reasons doesn't magically turn a fantastic tablet into a crappy one.

Keep dreaming. Prime will easily kick the 700 a##. we will perform better. that device running higher resolution on same exact chipset n speed. only common since that at the Prime resolution performance will be alot faster n smoother and score higher on benches. with that higher resolution, the chipset has to work twice as hard.
WTF! Luckily I still have the receipt and is only one week old. I haven't even enjoyed it as I was busy catching up on work after the holidays.
I paid $600 for my 32gb and the new one will probably be priced along those lines with better specs. I'm returning mine. These companies are really stupid, no wonder they can't compete with Apple products. They just think sh#t up and dump them into the market, as many as they can make. Forget support or quality just dump it must be their new motto. Revenues is all they care about, to make their earnings report look good for stock holders.
They are just shooting themselves in the foot. Why would I want to pay more for their brand or product when I know they have very little regard for their own product, brand, quality and better yet their customers.
Sooner or later tablets will just be another appliance, so cheap that you can simply dispose of them when your're done with it. But, at current prices I'm not splurging just for a 3-4 month enjoyment tick. I need it for work and for at least 2 years.
Well I guess, Best Buy can take my sale out of their revenues this quarter

Especially since about the only difference is that stupid high resolution which I see as a disadvantage in this circumstance (same chipset). Oh and what sucks the most battery juice on these devices? The display. And double the pixels need double the power.
But i guess higher numbers are always better
At least the Transformer Prime is bullet proof with it's gun metal casing.

Huh? That's only for OLED screens. Both the TF201 and the TF700 have the same backlight tech. Controller transistor count will be higher for the 700, but it won't take any more power.

For me its not the time frame that bus me, as I am trying my best to choose the best possible device for my hard earned bucks. And then keep it for 2 years or till it dies.
As the specs goes, there are very little difference performance wise.
1. 1080p viewing kind of useless unless android starts natively reading ntfs and ext4 formatted sdcards in order to load those large 4 Gig up movie files and play them without lag. Otherwise, you would have to apply hacks and just view your own recorded 1080p video clips.
2. Fixes for wifi and gps issues are pretty strong arguments for someone to wait or choose another brand.
As I mentioned in my previous post, its all about revenues for these tech companies. They don't even bother fixing the problems of POS products they put out. They just build a new model and ask you to pay for it again. Or you can return it now and be willing to wait for 6 months till the new model comes out because you really love their brand. By then, the new model will have new problems as well for sure.
at a higher price n much later into the year first release, its not worth it. by the time theism finally comes out, the New official nvidia tegra chipset will be out. Asus will have a new tablet already with this new nvidia chipset St same time or days after A700 release. you will even be more pissed off cuz u payed more for it than we did for prime. plus prime will be way ahead developement wise. you can have the a700. My Prime is Sick!

New Transformer Pads inc. Glad i have the Prime.

There you go So we'll be having a luxury model, thats more expensive and without tegra3 but 1080p display. And then a low cost one, without IPS+, only 16gb und ugly colored (imho) plastic backs.
Asus also gives slightly less battery life (10h against 12h of the prime) on both "new" tablets. Of course they will be good devices, but with both of them i think "ah its just slightly off from what i'm looking for".
I think the Prime is still the sweet spot, and i'm glad i didnt wait
Does the LTE vertion include WiFi?
Now I'm fully convinced to get my Prime, as soon as Amazon Italy lists it as available again.
There is a Tegra 3 one for the WiFi only version model, that's listed in the article you linked.
I have a feeling the prime will slowly disappear when the 300 is released. The two cannot really exist very well together on store shelves i don't think. Who knows when the 300 will be available though. We will have had our primes for months already.
i just can't see them selling both. I wouldn't be surprised if we never see the prime readily available in stores. It doesn't even fit with their new naming. It would confuse people. It sort of belongs as a 500 series with the premium materials and better screen than the 300.

Snapdragon S4 VS Tegra 3
This is all pretty crazy now haha. There was only 1 original Transformer (TF101) and now there's exactly 7,451 second generation models.
Just a question though, i've seen benchmarks and it seems that the S4 in the LTE prime is better than Tegra 3, does anyone think the extra cores in Tegra 3 could make up for lack of speed in some applications?
No way the dual core a15 snapdragon will smoke the tegra 3 in not only overclocking but all around performance.
Now what we should be looking forward to is the snapdragon s4 pro the one with the adreno 320 gpu that will be a real deal breaker!
Nvidia just wanted to be first to market so they took the tegra 2 and shrunk it down threw in an extra core for battery and got almost all the attention for being first!
Optimization> # of cores

actually as a consumer i dont care at all about cores or potential speed in benchmark xy
I care about battery life and most importantly software. I'm sure all the regular games will run smooth on all the new CPUs thats not an issue. Also UI will be completely smooth thats already possible with a dualcore (galaxy s2).
So what does tegra3 offer? Intelligent design with ninja core for battery life and dedicated games that look better than anything else. That makes it better than any other chip IMHO.

Most definately Its kinda funny i think... This is completely off topic, but i really wonder what phone manufacturers think when they decide on specs for their new phones.
For example HTC, new line of phones. I like 4.3" phones so the One S is for me. Right now i have a DesireHD. If i upgrade i get a new CPU, yay. But only 16gb memory and only 1500mAh battery (the same as my DHD...).
That means i get a potentionally faster chip (yay for psx/n64 emulation, only place where my dhd is at its limits), but it wont even be able to hold my Music library. Guess i should take my ancient ipod with me again... I liked HTC so far but this is just fail.
now back to topic I hope as many phones as possible will use Tegra3. That means more software dedicated to that chip. And more software on our Prime.
Ooh, I've seen this before. HTC did that. They released so many models that it was hard to keep track of. And this led them to a really sad situation where they are now forced to step back.
ASUS is making a mistake by releasing new models this frequently. It upsets buyers who have invested in a 'new tablet' that is outdated by the same company only few months later and leaves an impression of ASUS basically doing HTC, just improving hardware a little and causing absolutely horrible fragmentation. TF201 will likely not even get Android 5.0 officially.
I liked Engadget poking ASUS as well: "No word yet on pricing or availability. In any case, though, we wouldn't be surprised if ASUS gave birth to another tablet between now and then."

Seconded. Was looking forward to the new HTC models, my Desire has been fantastic and I was not considering any other manufacturer, but then they go and announce the One X and S and it turns out they don't have any memory card slots. What the ****? 32GB on the One X I might be able to live with, but it's too big, and the One S does not have anywhere near enough storage.
Will wait and see on the Asus Padphone now. You might want to check that out - I couldn't give a crap about using it as a tablet but it's got a 4.3 inch display same as the One S and between 16-64GB of internal storage as well as a memory card slot.

I think you are wrong. If anything, the original Transformer will be phased out when the TP300 is released, since the 300 will replace the OG Transformer as the budget model tablet. Also Asus has stated that they see a long product life span ahead for the current model Transformer Prime, and I believe them.
So you guys ok with a cheaper tablet with better wifi, gps etc? With Sd card slot, the 16 GB storage is not going to be a problem. Also i highly doubt if we will see Padfone in US. Its head ache to deal with carriers here and Asus may well not do it.
So the new Transformer Pad Infinity is basically the current Transformer Prime but with the following changes:
- Same metallic spun finish but with a plastic strip at the top to fix the GPS/BT/WiFi issues the Prime had.
- Same Tegra 3 CPU as the Prime (WiFi model only) but now clocked at 1.6Ghz.
- Improved display. Now 1920x1800.
- Improved front facing camera. Now 2MP and capable of HD video calls.
- 1hr less battery time compared to Prime. Due to increased resolution and clock speed.
- Available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB configurations and same colours as the Prime.
- Same ports and keyboard dock as the Prime.
I think I might have to wait for this now. Hopefully it fixes all the issues the Prime has.
I personally would gladly trade 16 gigs internal storage for functional wifi/bt. I'll be waiting to see what the rest of the week brings for MWC, but i'm 100% sure now that I wont be buying anything until about a month out to let everyone figure out whats wrong with all these tabs.

Nexus 10 to receive major upgrade

I'm sure this news will be frustrating to hear from many Nexus 10 owners, I am still going through replacements to get a good screen without light bleed and dead pixels and then I hear about this.
Thoughts ??
The popular tablet already features a decently fast 1.7GHz dual-core Exynos processor alongside a Mali-T604 GPU. However, new rumors suggest that it will soon beef up with a quad-core processor and a brand new 8-core Mali-T678 GPU.

Very typical. The problem is the terrible source story is written like Google is going to have a girl in a bikini pop out of a cake and deliver this new device on the shelves of Walmart in a few weeks with a card in the package telling early adopters to eat crap.

^ So much this.
I used to work for Circuit City and I'd have to deal with this constantly. I was there for two years and I saw some of the same few customers two years later still "shopping" for a new TV that I saw shopping for a new TV my first month with the company. It got to the point I didn't even acknowledge them anymore and my boss didn't comprehend they were in the redundant technology chasing black hole. They'd constantly come in with notebooks (the worst customers are notebook customers) full of specs and charts and graphics and comparisons, print outs from the internet of reviews etc etc etc.. Holy crap I'm just annoyed even reminiscing about it.
I truly respect anyone who can make a living selling technology because it's one of the worst sales jobs next to selling mattresses. Which I've also done.

Not going to be that person to brave the waters of this new Nexus 10. It could prove to be disasterous. Take the Transformer Infinity for example. The Transformer Prime was great in terms of processing and smoothness, but Asus messed up the Infinity tablet to the point that it had major I/O / lag issues. I owned the Prime and not the Infinity so I'm basing the Infinity performance on what people has said in these forums.

Doesn't really matter though, both have pitiful I/O performance which has been well documented I'm only going to link a few but man LOL

More recently users have been noticing very poor performance with ASUS Android tablets whenever there's substantial background IO going on, particularly multitasking while writes are taking place (e.g. downloading a torrent and browsing the web). The slowdowns range from multi-second long pauses to sluggish response time.

Such is the technology world. Don't get to upset over rumors of a beefier n10. I'd be inclined to guess that this won't happen until late 2013, if it happens at all. If a new and amazingly better n10 comes out q4 2013, it will be very easy to sell your current n10 and grab the new one. Just my .02.... BC this is what I would do. Could Google be announcing the next Nexus 10 at Mobile World Congress?
CES 2013 has just come to an end and there are already rumors about for Mobile World Congress 2013. Among them is potential news for the next generation of Google’s Nexus 10.
Google did very well in the tablet market in 2012 by producing good tablets at a decent cost. More people could afford them and their specs helped them work well. The Nexus 10 second generation could be a lot more interesting.
The rumor comes from Theo Valich from Bright Side of News. If the rumors prove true, then the Nexus 10 second gen is going to be a beast of a tablet. At a quick glance, here are some of the rumored specs.
Mali T678 GPGPU
2GB RAM
Support for OpenCL 1.1, OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0/3.0, and Google’s Renderscript Compute
As you can see, there isn’t a lot there. However, if these rumors prove to be true, the Nexus 10 2 could be the most powerful tablet produced so far. Things like screen resolution, storage sizes, CPU, and other specs haven’t been mentioned yet, so there is still room for a pitfall or two when the final design comes out.
Are any of these Nexus 10 2 rumors true?
It’s hard to say. Theo Valich has claimed to have played with an unfinished version of the Nexus 10 2. However, the specs so far have been a mix of rumor and speculation. So, as usual, take it as it is since it is an unconfirmed rumor. It’s nice to daydream about such things. However, the 2GB of RAM should prove true as it’s the current standard for Android devices.
One thing for sure is that we’ll know more about it eventually. With Google I/O coming up soon, it’s hard to imagine Google announcing a Nexus device at another tech conference. Do you think MWC 2013 will hold some new Google magic or will Google be saving it for Google I/O? More importantly, are any of these specs believable or possible? Let us know your thoughts.
By Android Authority
What do you think? I just ordering my Nexus 10, should I cancel it? :crying:
