Ok it's getting pretty annoying to the point I have to ask.. Is there a little trick or something I don't know about to stop the horrible lag and stuttering when streaming videos like from YouTube or whatnot?
I'm on wi-fi, download speeds arent the issue and I can see the video buffering way ahead so I know it's not an issue with it freezing because it needs to buffer. No matter what while it's playing it stutters and freezes like nuts no matter where I stream video from. It's actually a little embarrassing when I'm trying to show someone a video and it freezes every few seconds.
I know about disabling SRS from the sound options to stop lag in games so I thought there might be a similar fix.
Tell me about it. It is in my case so bad that it after loading for a bit just stops loading and doesn't do anything and basically YouTube is just incapable to play anything. Sometimes low quality works but that's more a gamble as well. But everything else works perfectly streaming like VEVO or so no lag nothing. Its only YouTube. It started for me excatly 3 days ago that it stopped working. Before YouTube worked great. I sadly have no fix for it either. I know it is darn annoying thought.
I have the same problem too... Exactly as described... Very annoying.

Same thing here - since i got the phone. Had a samsung focus for the last year and never had it stutter even once when playing youtube
Mine is the AT&T titan - what about your guys?
could be a problem with the AT&T rom maybe?

Update i just hard reset titan thinking it may be apps - no fix - still freezing. So incase you were thinking about trying that - dont bother :S
No issue here, though I am using an att HTC titan xap updated to 8170

No issue here with my AT&T Titan, though I opted in to the YouTube HTML5 program for videos in the browser and use SuperTube otherwise. Don't even have the YouTube app installed.
jeremyshaw how did you get your ATT Titan to update to 8107? I have tried a ton of different times all giving me the dreaded error message 80070013 no matter what I do I keep getting that error message.
Updated mine to 8107 as well and it seems like html5 youtube video's layback properly - still getting hickups in the metrotube app and other website players though they do seem like their slightly less frequent - though that may just be a placebo
some people are saying it may be a hardware probem or bad flash from the factory?
anyone swap their titans under warranty because of this and find the new one any better?

Here's the link if you want to update to Mango 8107

At least it fixes the keyboard dispearing issue
- Make sure when your push the files you make a backup at the same time - just incase
I got a Clean install on my titan, so shouldn.t be an AT&T problem

this is the kind of thing were having problems with, I had a Samsung focus with a 1ghz processor for the last year and I never had any videos hang like they do on the titan - buffering or not
Also on mine it was at the point where videos made with the built in camera were freezing and hanging as well

Hi. I'm creating this thread because I can't seem to find any solution to this.
HD video recording basically sucks .
No matter what ROM or kernel, when I try to record both 720 and 1080 video, the image keeps stuttering (I think that's the term, but I'm not sure which word I should use to describe this in english) in intervals of a few seconds.
That is, starts working smoothly, then the images start "jumping", then works well again, etc... Like if it recorded at very few FPS at times.
I've thought this could be any number of things. Maybe the phone can't write fast enough on the SD card, but I tried both internal and external, also the external worked fine with my SGS, and also the image behaves exactly the same on both 720 and 1080, and if it was a writing problem 1080 should be worse.
Then I thought "kernel problem"... Exactly the same behaviour on stock, speedmod and siyah. "Schedulers"... the same thing.
I tried on a S2 of a friend. Same terrible recording.
It bugs me that I don't see mny people complaining about this, and seems to be a general problem.
So, is there a solution to this? The first SGS recorded well and the S2 can't? What's up with that?
I do not is the same problem but when start to take a video in 720p the camera begining to blinking. The problem is only in 720p and I have stock version 2.3.4 UHKG7.
That's a weird problem. I haven't bothered with any 1080p recording, but 720p on the stock Camera app at highest bitrate has been smooth as butter. None of the weird stuff you guys are reporting. I guess no one else is complaining because they don't have the same issues?
Can't think of what else you could try other than 1) checking Samsung Apps store for any newer camera firmware or 2) revert to stock ROM, don't install any apps and just run the Camera to see if the issue comes up again. If it does, probably means faulty unit?
You could check this link out from GSMArena.com.It explains about the video capture and the shakiness between the 720 and 1080 being caused by the auto focus and the scaling down of the 8mpx sensor in 1080p mode and the problem of digital noise in 1080p mode. They recomend 720p.

The thing is that I tried to record 720 with another S2, older and from another brand, and behaves exactly the same...
I'll see about that firmware update, and that gsmarena thread. Thanks.
Edit: The updater says I've got the last firmware. Damn...
Edit+: I CAN NOT believe this. I never could record a video without the mentioned problem. All right. I thought I could record a couple to upload here and show the problem.... It didn't happen
I recorded both 720 and 1080 for a minute each, and the problem didn't happen. Nothing has changed since yesterday. I am utterly confused.
i have the same issue what you have did with ??? which camera fw ??? thanks
It happens to me also. I opened a thread here on xda about this problem, but no one answered. I believe it is extremely obvious in lower light, but it can be spotted even outside, in sun. I cannot use 720p/1080p videos, they are terrible. I ordered an usb jig lately, i will take it to warranty and change it.
It is a well known issue! Have a look in the cam thread on here which deals with the red dot and later with the stuttering.
I contacted Samsung about it and they basically said: Send in your device! I only bought it a week ago.
The problem has been known since June and Samsung is giving a sh*t about it and doesn't fix the problem which is said to be a firmware problem.
yes I agree, it just sucks.

As spected the joy didn't last long and the problem returned.
I'll have to buy a jig and start the whining to samsung, then...
I picked up my pre-order Nook Tablet from local B&N store right after work today. But unfortunately after playing with it for a while i began noticing some flickering issue with flash streaming videos (most amazon video and youtube video i tried suffer from the same issue to some degree). I took the NT back to to B&N store and talked with a nook specialist, and we try the same video on 2 other demo NT unit on the counter, and they also have the problem.
We agree that this is most likely an Adobe flash player app issue, and can be taken care off with a software update, but there is no telling how long it will take for B&N to release a software fix. So for now i decided to return the NT before my 14 day refund period.
To see the problem yourself, play this following youtube video in 720p, you should notice the video flickering issue within the first 10 second.
http://youtu.be/5n4V3lGEyG4
The good news is that this issue doesn't affect people who does not use the NT as their streaming video player (i have amazon prime instance videos that i stream alot). I also tested MP4 video directly loaded on to the NT, and it doesn't have the same flicker issue.
So i just want to let you guys know about this issue. I still think the NT is a great upgrade for my NC, but i will be holding off on repurchasing it until either B&N work the issue out, or CM7 come to our device.
Just tested the video you posted, with no issue.
No flicker at all.
Telling you, it's something with that batch of Nooks.
No flicker here at all, but the audio seemed to be just off a tad from the movement in their lips.

Ive seen that in a lot of music videos, thats just the effect they use.. slowed down movements..
Hmmmm, I tried that link from My Nook Tablet and it just stuck at "Loading Video..." before it finally give me an error that said:
"Activity Browser (in application Browser) is not responding."
lol.
You have 14 days, and you returned it within 20 hours?
ok.
Hmm so far DarkDvr seem to be the only person that detected a hint of the flickering i am talking about. I guess I am just super sensitive to the video flickering issue, since that is what I use my NC, and the NT mostly for. There is hope that soon as CM7 hits the NT, this issue will be resolved.
Also hopefully the news about the NT having a locked bootloader is not true. I really like the form factor of the NC and NT, having the "n" button next to the screen make turning the screen on for the NC and NT really convenient. But without CM7, NT is no where as useful as a full tablet as it can be.

So we might actually be dealing with 2 separate problem with the NT building in Flash player (10.3.186). Not a good sign, hopefully B&N will release a firmware upgrade very soon to update the flash player to 11.1, and fix the 1GB user storage space issue.

Yeah the storage is kinda dumb, definitely don't like that. But, easily fixed once we have root.
Regarding flash - seriously, I have no issues with flash at all. Maybe you guys are watching some weirdly buggy flash videos somewhere..
I watched like 6-7 20-40 minute vids on youtube in bed last night - all in 720p HD. I didn't see any flickering or sound problems, it was beautiful and as good as it possibly can be.

The interview video - yes, there was very minor flickering there, but if you didn't tell me, maybe I wouldn't even have noticed.
Besides, that was the ONLY flash video that I've seen this happen in, so I'm willing to blame the player or that particular video.
I saw it too.. only noticeable in one area of the screen.. near the top of the video.. not noticeable unless it is full screen.. and only on youtube..
netflix looks perfect..
Every flash video that I have watched (YouTube, FOX and ABC) has had about a 2 second delay on the voices. It did not happen on a video that I have uploaded. Like the rest of you I am hoping that an update will be released in the near future and I REALLY hope that development on this thing starts. I love the form factor and the specs, but the device is really disappointing from an out of the box approach.
Mobile flash is quite disappointing.. there's a reason adobe is dropping it.. I've yet to have a good mobile flash experience on any device..

Hi all, so I purchased the tablet last December, shut Downs haven't been an issue until about 3 weeks ago .this thing went from every shut down every 3 or 4 days to 2 to 3 shut downs a day. If seems every time I have wifi on and use Bluetooth earphone and movie player app it will cause it to freeze and shut down. From what I understand this problem is present on pretty much every single xts, why can't we have a class action on this issue. I know the Nissan 350z owners had one because rare tires wore out too fast, if they can do that, I think the issue of frequent shut downs definitely justify a class action

I started a petition against slow updates and issues not just for xperia tablet s alone but also against smartphones and their issues.
sony often promises to release update shortly after launch which is all marketing BS, then fail to update on time which pissed me off.

I rarely ever have this issue try using a different movie app (MX player), even watching videos on YouTube stopped crashing my xts and occasionally I steam Netflix with no issue. Slow updates are a pain for the xts since it's not really dev friendly but if you really want updates on the phone just flash a new rom it isn't that hard, plenty of people in the dev community will fix things as long as they have time.

when you watch videos from browser you usualy can't.........
Also the issue exist in any app yes even mx player can trigger it because its issue with memory management.
It's not about the player app, I tried the stock one, mx, thunder, you name it, the app would freeze if I exit the app using the multi task button then go back again, the player would freeze then the xts shuts down, it seems to have something to do with Bluetooth, another way to cause shut down for me is having a streaming app running in the background then use the small app widget browser, sometimes it shuts down streaming music via Bluetooth as well, 2 to 3 shut downs a day is excessive!

bluetooth has nothing to do with it, if had bluetooth headset and their was time i did't have bluetooth headset.
nothing did change with rate of shutdowns.
Their some bugs that bluetooth manages to break wifi internet just don't work untill you disable wifi and re enable it verry anoying.
I don't know what to tell you guys I haven't had the same issue, the only time that my xts force shut downs is either over a long charge or when I'm hooking the tablet to a tv via hdmi even then it's rare. Shutdowns are triggered from watching movies especialy doing from browser youtube apps or similar apps give issues.
the videos just overload ram never clears up so it ends up randomly shutting down either on playing another video.
Or loading another app while ram is bassicly only having like 1% room.
You can't clear up the ram thats loaded into ram either from watching video's will remain in ram.
No issues with shutdowns either on my tablet.
Only concern is screen flicker.
Those that have no shutdowns tough what region are you from ?
Xperia z had or has this issue to, but read it was regional issue aka not every region had it.
Anyway if i don't play videos then i don't have shutdowns either tablet get laggy tough after a while.

Had the tablet for about a month and so far watching movies offline with stock app is fine but did have it reboot when watching youtube. The biggest problem seems to be wifi dropping connections, almost always when it is awaken from sleep but also happens times when it is in use. The tablet is US model.
I think class action would be tough, I saw the petition and signed it and people was not enthusiastic even for something so simple. I wonder if we can focus efforts on getting them to unlock the bootloader, its only going to reduce headaches for them and get people off their backs if the devs can figure out a fix. Probably would be better for sales too.

started updates not for xperia tablet s alone or tablet s but more off global issue the slow updates.
its mostly android team from sony that holds back these devices.
The reason probably only happends online is because off the demuxer and its purpose sony has to limit memory for it to 1 video at a time, because its keeps loading up more more without clearing old data.

That might be due some apps you installed did't have before.
Check batery page in settings.
Mine fluctate depending on settings but remained pretty normal with different settings.
The wifi issues with this tablet makes you need to install advanced wifi lock to this also drains more battery.
I purchased the G3 on release date and was excited when I got time to test it out. YouTube happened to be one of the first Apps I tried and I found that it took quite some time to actually start a video up (this is with 3-4 bars of Verizon 4G LTE) and when it finally did start it would only play for about 2 seconds and then start buffering again...this happened continuously for a couple minutes until I got frustrated with the buffering (pausing the video and trying to let it buffer didn't work either) and decided to close the App.
I have had the phone for about a week now and for some reason if I open Chrome on my phone and go to the YouTube website, videos stream without issue, but I'm still having problems with the YouTube App. Is anyone else experiencing this as well? I asked a rep at the Verizon store and was told that so far I'm the only one at that store.
YouTube
Same here, having the opposite problem of most everyone else, streams fine on Wi-Fi massive buffering on LTE.

A lot of people have had problems with recent updates to the youtube app. Many confirmed that changing their dns to a different dns server fixed the problem. However if the problem is on LTE I do not know if this is possible. Just trying help hunt down the source of the problem.
Sorry, I meant that the YouTube app itself doesn't work with LTE. but when I use my internet app and go to YouTube.com with LTE videos play just fine.

Yeah, its an off problem. Streaming via the app over wi-fi works fine for me, when I'm on LTE there I'm seeing an inordinate amount of buffering.
I assume its the app, I haven't tried streaming via the web but that seems like it should be an unnecessary work-around.

Its rather unfortunate as it is a great phone but some minor flaws are putting quite a damper on being able to fully enjoy it. My battery life is horrible too...apparently the amazing screen is too much for the battery, which drains while just sitting in my pocket. Hardly using my phone throughout the day I end up having to put my phone on the charger as soon as I get home. Meanwhile a friend of mine has the G2 and is able to brag about his battery life.

After a bit of adjusting I managed to get home after a 8 hour shift and light phone use with 51% battery left.
Things that have worked bes for me on two different phones:
Turn off WiFi if you are walking around a lot.
Turn off location reporting by network discovery! Leave it at GPS if you need location info. I have been testing this for over 6 months on a galaxy note 3 and I find very little battery use this way.
Disable all the Amazon crapware. You can keep on the Kindle app if you need to view off files.
Obviously watch screen brightness. I have mine on manual.
Turn off the shortcut keys on the volume if you keep it in your pocket. Several times mine turned on by accidently and I got a buch of great burst shots of my pocket!
Hope these help..
install an older version of YouTube ~5.5-5.7
I know on this phone and others as soon as YouTube updated to 5.7+ it started to buffer all the time... likely an issue because it detects verizon... however, switching back to an older version allows me to fully play videos on 4G LTE with no issue. So I'm running 5.5 and it's running flawlessly... and while there could be newer features, it is just fine for me.
Edit: this method worked on my galaxy nexus which just retired ... changing versions I the g3 hasn't made a ****s-worth of a difference. Still buffering every 4-5 seconds.
Hi, has anyone had any popping, crackling, or skipping when listening to music? I get it about twice to 3 times per hour when listening to spotify or local music. There was one time in particular where i was listening to music, when opening the recents menu and opening a recent app caused a serious crackling distortion.
Should I return my phone?
Side note: have tried safe mode. Crackling still occurs. Have tried repeating the same file. Crackilng does not occur at the same time.
Second side note: on version 119. Phillipines has no updates beyond that.
Mine does it too. This phone has more bugs than a bush tucker trial!
Haha. Yeah, it does. I've also have had apps randomly open sometimes and another music player play for a few seconds when I press play on Spotify, then return to spotify. I'm planing to try and have my handset exchanged tomorrow at the store. Hopefully they will.
I do believe this phone has really great potential, if only it wasn't so buggy.
Had too sometimes.
However, I think problem is Oreo, not the phone!
I want to believe it's oreo, since everything else on my phone works great (minus the hiccups mentioned above). No wifi or reception issues. Not even sure I want to get a replacement and do a lottery again.
so glad to see its not just me. phone is terribly buggy. settings turning on and off. sometimes after being on the phone for like 5 mins, the phone locks itself. sometimes without me even touching the phone eg when im watching youtube with it propped up on my desk. has anyone who exchanged their phone actually received one that doesnt have these issues though?
whats up with the blue light remaining on in settings when you turn a setting off? UI nightmare
Hmm. This makes me think we should run a poll so we can identify the common issues everyone is having to rule out hardware issues.

A lot has to be with Oreo as these issues don't exist in other Huawei phones. Also i wonder if some of these unreleased roms that folks are using have bugs in it compared to the official roms received via OTA.

Yeah me too...
I'm waiting an update !
I have some bugs with contacts sync, gmail and music popping.
Except that, everything is fine !
Ah well, i guess I'll just lean on the huawei warranty instead.
