Help cant get out of bootloop - HTC Rezound

So I installed Ziggy kernel, then I chose to try and install InfectedROM_Eternity_A1(1) which didn't work. I have tried everything to include restoring a backup and factory reset with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciate.

try installing this unsecured boot.img and reflashing Amon Ra, then do a restore or try another Rom. you should install or reinstall ziggy's kernel after you install roms, considering the method required to flash kernels with our S-On phones.

had the same problem, amon would restart when trying to wipe cache. I went into options in amon and formatted everything to ext3. That fixed it for me. I was able to then wipe everything and install backup
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App

Thank you for the quick responses , I tried bamf 1.01 and it didn't work finally decided to try Ineffabilis-v1.0 and flashed the stock kernel and it worked fine. I think it might have worked because it wipes everything except the ext-sdcard.

Yes, the kernel stays between ROMs, so you have to watch out for that.
When more ROMs start ariving that depart from the stock format significantly. (Cyanogen, AOSP/ICS ports, MIUI, etc) they will need to supply both a ROM .zip and a boot.img we must flash after in fastboot.
If we want to run custom kernels in these ROMs, we will need to use the new tool provided in the Dev section that provides/converts the proper RAMdisk files and proper formatted boot.img from a kernel zimage.

Noob question. First kernel to root: CF-root or Siyah

Hi
I am new on the SGS2 though i have one Android Tablet.
I have been reading a lot and there is something i have not been able to find.
I want to root, , install CMW and install this custom ROM: Dynamic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582217
1.- Do i need to install first the CF-ROOT kernel matching my actual Firm to make the root or can i install the Siyah kernel at this will make the root anyway?
2.- If i install the CF-root using ODIN, do i need to install an specific kernel for that ROM? Or most kernels work with most rom?
Thanks.
I suggest you flashing the cf-root kernel with odin then you can install your custom rom from the modified recovery mode flashing the .zip file of the rom.
You can flash the siyah kernel after that, because generally custom roms mount a custom kernel which supports CWM (Clock Work Mod, the custom recovery).
If i helped u, press thanks.
if you are on ics you should be good flashing siyah but most of us here started with cf root

1/ follow the install notes stated for that rom also siyah kernel if flashed thru odin will give you root and install cwm/superuser
2/if you install cf root again follow install notes within that thread and it does say best to use same cf as your stock kernel or find one close to it to match
i prefer to use siyah less hassle but each to there own and everyone has there own choice
Thank you all.
I decided to go safe and try with CF-Root. Now i am rooted and i have installed the rom using the CWM.
Do you recommend to change the kernel again? I think that the rom has its own kernel but i am not sure.
Also something weird happen (little off topic), after wipe and reinstall the rom, i have some apps installed by default, some of them where on the old ROM.
I thought that all the apps will be deleted with the installation of the new rom.
Not sure how to fix it.
Thanks again
Apps will only be deleted by doing a full wipe in cwm. And you dont need to flash another kernel if you only want the root feature.. i think all the custom roms use a rooted kernel... some use cf-root, some siyah, some speedmod etc...
Well, i really prefer to use the features offered by other kernels. I was not sure if i can change the kernel keeping the Roms or if i need to reinstall everything afterwards.
How do i make a Full Wipe? most of the apps are bloatware and i do not want them.
Thanks
im also a noob and i use siyah without changing much
just OC to 1400 and choosing en demand for governor

You must go in the custom recovery and press "Data wipe/factory reset", so you wil have only the system apps, but you must start the phone configuration again.
U can flash another kernel if you want, there's no problem with the rom, but remember to do a dalvik wipe.
If youre thinking about to flash a new kernel, i would prefer to flash the kernel first (now) and then do a full wipe and dalvik wipe. Otherwise youre doing some work twice...
And if youre yet haveing some "bloatware" (e.g. from a provider branded firmware) after wipeing, you can delete them (be careful with system apps) with root explorer... (in "\system\app" folder....

If your happy with the results you get form using CF then by all means stay with it otherwise follow the thread in which your rom is based on users will often leave feedback on there selected kernels and setups like my signature for example check im sure theres users within your choosen thread with the same
I can advise using the kernel cleaning script after changing to another kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363738
This will prevent problems that left behind files from the old kernel can cause.
After flashing the file/script install the desired kernel
Thank you to everyone!

I did the Data wipe/factory reset and everything as per the instructions:
*For a clean installation and no problem
- Download the ROM and put it on your S2.
- Go to Recovery
- Wipe data factory reset, wipe cache.
- In Advance: wipe dalvik cache and wipe battery stats.
- In mount and storage - format data , system and cache
- Install the zip file and you will get the CWM install completed message.
- Select Reboot Now and let the phone boot up to an Android setup screen.
- If there are Update, download it, put it on the phone, go to recovery and install it. Don't do wipes.

That is the strange thing. I am not using any branded firmware, i came from one, but i thought everything was to be erased after the wipes and formats.

I will use this on my next try this weekend.
If i do not understand wrong this is what i need to do:
Review the rom to find a kernel that suits it.
Use the kernel cleaning script
Install the new kernel.
Follow the instructions to flash the desired ROM with all the wipes and formats required.
Anything else?

need help please

I've decide to format my SD and install clean rom without any files at SD.
I've flashed the radio, wiped all what I need delvik, chance and data. I've flashed the rom and....nothing! Its stock at the logo of the rom (virtuous eclipse 1.0.0) in my case and nothing happened...
I removed the battery and contacted the SD to the computer and I found out that no file have been created and the SD is empty except the zip rom on it.
Did anyone can tell me what is the problem?
I have rooted evo 3d with unlock bootloader I use 4ext as recovery, my hboot is 1.49.1107 and my radio is 11.25.3504.06_m.
Something very important I had this rom and its works fine, I've done backup and when I'm restore it lots of apps don't work like 4ext when I want to get into recovery its stock and I have to get out the battery....
thank u all
Try restoring your backup and once your booted into your rom go to settings/sd & phone storage and format your sd. Then replace the rim you were about to flash back on your sd. Then reflash the rom.

Are you S-OFF or S-on? In 4ext recovery have you turned on the SmartFlash feature?
Try flashing boot.img seperately using fastboot.

Some Roms include a wipe script.

I formatted my SD because I wanna clean SD. I've made vipe delvik and chace trough cwm turn off my evo, removed the SD (I had a 4ext partition on him so I delete her with Gparted )and then formatted my SD. I copy virtuous eclipse rom to the SD and try to flash it and its got stack at the blink logo for half an hour
I removed my battery go to bootloader and flash 4ext recovery, made super wipe and trying again to flash the rom - I got the same result.
I tried to flash the boot from the zip file trough the bootloader and flash the rom again and again the same result.
I decided to try working roms for sure like leedroid's rom, I flashed him and its worked!
I want an ics rom with sense 4 so I tried to flash will1972's rom, its the first ics rom that someone published and get lots of bugs, I manage to flash him and its worked!
I try again to flash again the virtuous rom and got the same result, get stack at the blink logo...
I've done backup of the rom when its work (virtuous) and now when I'm restore it lots of thing doesn't work properly , like 4ext, like restart....
I think that something is avoiding the command to get the hardware and do what she had to do...

Need urgent help! Please!

I have a rooted s-on Evo 3D and Im trying to put my moms number on it since I got a new phone, but I keep getting an error I'm running a custom rom and I'm pretty sure you need to be on the stock rom so you could actually change numbers, I need to go back to to the stock rom, I have it backed up but I'm on a different kernel and since I can't just restore it I need to flash the kernel first of my back up, ive been using flash image GUI for flashing my roms but I don't know how to restore the back up I have of the stock rom, if I just restore it won't flash the kernel. Someone please help me. I can can fastboot I think, restore The backup. Does anyone have the link for the intructions? I can't find the thread that they made. Thanks.
What rom are you on? when you flashed it did you clear dalvik cache first?
Also you can try and go into custom recovery and clear you dalvik cache and see if that works!
Sometime (in my experience anyways) I have had to re-flash the rom because it was messing up after instal ie. FC on all apps but a fresh install worked like a charm.

[Q] Can't flash TW roms

A couple months ago I was having problems with my recovery. It kept crashing every time I tried to flash anything. Found out I needed to format my internal storage, once I did that I was able to flash CM but when I tried to flash a TW rom I get stuck in a bootloop. I re-downloaded the same rom 3 times thinking it was a bad download no dice. Tried other TW roms still no dice. But, when I flash a ASOP rom it works just fine. What could of caused this issue?
Anybody Know how to solve this? Been trying to figure this issue out for a whole month!
just a guess but for Note 2/3/4 users with locked bootloaders you cannot flash a kernel. Using safestrap or another vitual rom required it to be TW-based. If you're running true AOSP and was able to flash CM are you sure you're running the stock kernel?

It's possible that you could have something partially corrupted in your data/cache partitions.
If you don't want to have to ODIN back to 4.1.2... and then start all over again with CASUAL, etc.... then you might check out this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53624921
Wiping cache and doing factory reset in the Stock Recovery might correct things... it apparently does a more thorough wipe than the ones done through custom Recoveries like TWRP/Philz... etc... You can just Odin back your preferred custom recovery after completing the wipes in the Stock recovery.

[Q]How can I temporary boot a custom kernel using adb?

Hi,
I want to temporary boot my nexus 6 with ElementalX.
I'm familiar with the fastboot command fastboot boot boot.img
But what boot img I need to use after downloading the flashable zip file of the kernel?
Pics provided below, which file I need to use for the fastboot command?
I don't believe you can flash Elemental kernel in that regards as it is set up differently than many custom boot.imgs. Even if you did, you would be missing out on many functions of the kernel without the other settings being installed. You could either do a nandroid backup of your boot and system and restore that when you were done testing the kernel or dirty flash just the rom you are on (they have flashable stock roms in the forums) while just wiping the cache and dalvik cache.

I only want to flash ElementalX in order to be able to use properly on Android M.
But I'll try to do a nandroidbackup . funny I never though to do that. Thanks.
Yea, for best results, use TWRP, make a backup, then flash what you need. No reason to keep a stock recovery setup if you are running a custom kernel and root as you will not want to take OTA updates anyway. Keep in mind that it is also recommended to update the radio and bootloader. I have seen reports of members being fine without them, but it's best practice to keep them all updated together. If you don't want to mess with any of that and don't care about being rooted or customized at all, then you will just want to unlock the bootloader and flash the factory img files from Google and then all partitions will be updated to official 6.0 and you'll be done with it. If you go that route, remember to backup your internal storage as unlocking the bootloader and the update will wipe everything.
