Good price for S2? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What's a good price for a barely used Galaxy S2 for use on AT&T? Planning on getting one off eBay but not sure what I should be paying. Thanks.

bumpity bump

I would stay away from ebay after my experiences from last few weeks of buying a brand new one. It was in box, after 2 weeks, came up with a message mobile service not available. Called my network up and check the serial with there blacklisted database and found it was a lost claim with an insurance firm. Just warning beware and read into it and happens a lot.

Sold my 4 month old rooted n unlocked galaxy s2, LNIB condition, 420. Here in toronto the new ones sell for 450.

Where is the best place to buy a GSII?

I know the US model is coming out VERY soon but I really want to get this phone. Right now I am an infuse owner and was looking to just buy this outright since I used my upgrade on the infuse a couple months ago. Where do you guy recommend me ordering one? Or the one that seems to be the most reliable? I was looking at amazon and a few other site but just cant decide. Thanks in advance!
Amazon. Nowhere will you get a warranty (aside from Expansys USA which offers mail in warranty back to the UK).
Plus with Amazon, my box was sealed and I got a Brazilian model that's one of the first to get 2.3.4.

Was that ordered directly from amazon, or from a 3rd party store fulfilled by amazon?
Also, they have used-like new galaxy s2 for $629.99, that qualifies for SquareTrade.

Directly from Amazon (i.e. "ships from and sold by Amazon.com"). I'm not fond of resellers for unlocked phones. I once ordered a Nexus S I9020A (for AT&T's network) from a reseller on Amazon. Sure enough, I received an I9023 (European model - not compatible with AT&T). I promptly returned it. I just trust Amazon direct and don't like rolling the dice with 3rd part sellers.
Careful on the open box...I ordered an open box SGSII from Amazon and received a friggin Verizon phone (used and beat up). Some jerkoff stole the SGSII and returned the box with a Verizon phone in it. See my photo on the product listing.
I have never ever had any issues with Warehouse deals (open box) items from Amazon, but got burned pretty bad with that one. The good news is Amazon kindly credited my account for the return and even gave me a $50 credit, making a brand new SGSII the same price. Can't ask for more than that.
I bought my gs2 from Popular Electronics, who is based in Chicago. I live in Canada. Interesting experience with these guys. They have their store warranty, which is useful. I'm not sure how long that warranty is for. They ship free to the US too. Right now, the phone is cheaper than the one on Amazon. Plus, they have a "Low price guarantee" and will match any other prices anyway.
I'm from Canada. My first phone gs2 (brand new, fully sealed with seal sticker) was defected (hardware, touch screen didn't work lol). I called them and they gladly helped me with a replacement phone. I had to pay to ship it to them though 2nd phone, another hardware defect (line of dead pixels). Once again, it was brand new and fully sealed. They couldn't believe that of all the customers they've sold the gs2 to, I was the unlucky one to have 2 faulty phones. They took that one back too and sent me my current gs2 which runs perfectly smooth. If you call them, ask for Tahal (possibly spelled as Taha) He is the man!

If you mean this photo: (http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-m...TBQ2C/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_0?ie=UTF8&index=0) I've seen it. With the difference of ~$30 or so, I think it is worth the risk...

Yep, that is my photo. Imagine how pissed I was when I got home, ripped the box open only to discover that...
As usual, Amazon made it right. It does piss me off that someone swapped it and made off with a SGSII. They probably paid like $100 on craigslist for that Verizon junk. Punk.

[Q] Is anyone getting charged extra on ATNT?

I believe alot of ATNT users are sticking to their $10 a month unlimited data plan. I have recently been charged $25 for the 2gb data plan on top of the $10 after switching to the UK version of i9100 Samsung galaxy S2. Is that supposed to happen? From what I read, there is an argument that they do not have a record of the IMEI if it is not an ATNT model so they have no way to track whether the phone is a smartphone or not. One reason why I bought an unlocked phone in the first place is to take advantage of the $10 a month and not pay the absurd $25. Is anyone having the same issue?
Which version of the galaxy do you have? The white or black one, there is actually a difference. Also did you remove your previous data plan before adding the ten dollar one?

My plan has been the 10 dollars one all along. I changed from a nokia e75 (also unlocked and not from atnt) to a white galaxy s2. Right now, from the website, my phone is registered as a blackberry curve What is going on ATNT...

Samsung trade-in program

Samsung is now offering a trade in for older phones after you buy a new samsung galaxy and send your old one in with a receipt.
http://www.samsungupgrade.com
I777 is quoted for $140
Which makes sense considering u can sell one in eBay for between 200-300.....
For those who don't wanna deal with selling to someone, its easier.
1. Buy S3 (Amazon preferred for $150)
2. Register IMEI's of trades and print pre-paid postage from http://www.samsungupgrade.com
3. Ship phone and receipt of new S3 (or Note) purchase
4. Receive check from Samsung in about 3 weeks (able to track status through website)
The I777 is going for $140 but you could also include up to 6 phones per redemption and they buy many manufacture's phones not just Samsung.
look's like it just went down but I already got mine through
Edit: Could also try http://www.samsungsafe2switch.com/
They should have clearly indidated as $140 for a dead, unpowered SGS2, $150 for SGS2 that runs stock ROM and $300 for SGS2 running custom ROMs such AOKP or CM9
I plan on unlocking my sgs2 and selling it on ebay. They look to go from 250-300

If by unlocking u mean taking 30 seconds to download the app from the market that does it for free I say go for it.
I wonder if they'll give me something for my epix with a busted charging port I'm still sitting on... I've owned enough of their stinkin phones they could give me something (Whatever the first color flip phone was, Blackjack, Epix, Captivate, SGS II and in a few days SGS III)

I believe target still has it (single/primary= $150) and Amazon (single= $150).
I called At&t and and pre-ordered from premiere to get activation waived and once I showed them it was $150 at target for the same line they offered $50 in credit on my bill.

Good Deal?

So today I was browsing Craigslist and found a good condition sprint Galaxy Gear S for $85. I have verizon and planned on just using as a WiFi paired device, buying it I found out it has an outstanding balance on the original owners sprint account. Since I'll never use it with sprint as it's own line, did I still get as good of a deal as I thought?
Never buy sprint
$85 is just amazing, where did you find this? Testing CM12 at this price!
Was just browsing Craigslist and somebody was selling theirs with a bad imei on sprint

Sounds like a good deal, if ya ever wanted to you could pay to have the imei/esn repaired and unblacklisted...
Now time to share my steal of a deal, bad esn/imei mint condition Gear S T-Mobile on eBay for $145 I made that offer to the buyer, upon receiving I checked it with swappa and the esn/imei is actually indeed clear. LoL
Hello. with a bad ESN Gear S can you still send text messages from your watch when you're not connected to a WiFi network?
and can you use a sprint gear s with a tmobile note 4??
