Hi there, I'm panicking right now.
I just rooted my phone using a tutorial online and it was no problem and everything worked fine after that.
Then I used another tutorial to flash my ROM to CM7 and that's when I started to have problems.
I booted into ClockworkMod Recovery (holding volume up + home + power) and wiped data and chache partition, then I select "Install zip from sdcard" and chose CM7 zip file which I had put on to my sd card, I get a message that installation was successful.
But now I can't access my phone, it's stuck at the Samsung Galaxy SII logo.
I have wiped data again and used Odin to flash a stock ROM on to my phone but it doesn't work.
I need help guys.
EDIT: This post doesn't matter now, there is a new reply at page 3 with new problems.
Did you use a .pit file a repartition when you flashed a stock ROM with ODIN again? What do you mean the phone doesn't work? Does it bootloop or still stuck on the startup logo?

Well the phone did bootloop at one time and I fixed that by flashing a stock ROM on the phone with Odin, did not use a PIT file.
Now the phone is just stuck on the white Galaxy SII logo and I was hoping that flashing the phone again with stock ROM would also fix that.
I did not use a PIT file for that either.
Please reflash with a stock ROM that contains DBDATA and use a .pit file for repartitioning... That should fix your phone!

Yep!
@OP Download this package : http://hotfile.com/dl/130600047/b70801e/I9100XXKI3.rar.html
And then, in ODIN, put :
.PIT -> PIT
CODE -> PDA
MODEM -> PHONE
CSC -> CSC
Toggle repartition, and those 2 standard ticks. DO NOT TICK ANYTHING ELSE.
That WILL fix your phone Bootloops means that you soft bricked it. Flashing a new ROM + PIT always fixes a bootlooped device.

Could you link to a ROM with a .pit file, have not found any. Thanks!
Also, I tried flashing to CM7 again with ClockworkMod Recovery and it now said:
E:Error in /sdcard/cmgs.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
Is that bad?
The amount of bad advice in this thread is shocking.
Do you actually have an I9100?
My first thought from your original post is that you didn't flash twice in succession, and the flash you did do was practically instant.
Regarding your last post, status 7 is usually when you're trying to flash something not meant for your device.

I have an I9100 and I got the CyanogenMod from the official website where I chose my device.
The first flash was pretty fast yes.

Thanks man! You saved me!
I was seriously going to stay up all night trying to fix this and skip school tomorrow...
But I still want a custom ROM
Is there a better way than booting into ClockworkMod Recovery and installing zip file from sd card?
Also, any idea about why all this would happen to me? I got all the tutorials on an Icelandic forum where a person with the same phone did exactly what I was going to do and it worked perfectly for him, and I have gone over the steps many times, I did not screw up.
How to flash CM7
1) Flash a kernel with CWM, CF-root will do
2) Download CM7 zip and put it in your internalSD card
3) Boot into CWM
4) Flash CM7 zip
5) Reboot into CWM
6) Flash CM7 zip again
7) wipe cache/data/dalvik cache
6) reboot and wait for upto 10min for it to boot.
You HAVE to flash the CM7 zip twice.
Also you NEVER need to use the .pit, also never tick repartition, a bad flash with repartition ticked is a one way street to hardbrick land.

Ideally, you:
1. Flash a stock ROM via ODIN
2. Flash CF-Root via ODIN
3. Flash a custom ROM such as CM9 via CWM Recovery
Ok thanks guys!
And just to be sure, I went here: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices/samsung-galaxy-s2 and was going to download nightly, or is their anything else you would recommend more?

The stable build is much older and actually less stable than the newest nightly.
Also you can restore user apps with titanium backup, just not system apps.

My phone is really starting to annoy me now.
I put a stock ROM on the phone and then flashed CF-Root and when I boot up in CWM and select something it just displays the loading sign and then I hit the power button and I'm back on the main menu of CMW, doesn't matter what I select it only displays the loading sign and it doesn't go away.
It really sucks, I had put all the CM9 files on the SDcard and was ready to go.
EDIT: Never mind guys, finally got it to work Thanks for your help!

Don't panic dude, it happens sometimes Keeping cool is the key to fixing your phone without making it worse than it already is... I can't count the times this has happened to me already, and there ain't nuffin like a good 'ole repartitioning to set things straight (and show the damn contraption who's boss around these here parts.. I hate those stupid machines to whom nobody has ever taught that Man's genius INVARIABLY always triumphs over dumb and inert matter.. )
(although I almost never flash the whole ROM back on : most times flashing the .PIT file and rebooting the device does the trick -unless it's an installed app which caused the trouble in the first place, in which case you're better off starting over from scratch than wasting time trying to debug the problem)
N.B : don't forget to flash the "old bootloader" too, AFTER you've flashed the PIT and rebooted the device (or at least rebooted the recovvery, to check that it boots off a valid partition), I've noticed the new one can give a lot of weird and unpredictable behaviors when used in conjunction with root and a CMx ROM.

I was going to ask : have you flashed the CM rom twice, and flashed the google apps pack BEFORE even rebooting the phone ? It's almost always mandatory to do this precise sequence, the installation routine of the CM ROM is not quite perfect -far from it, actually..

Try flashing N.E.A.K. or another kernel tar package in ODIN while you have your phone in download mode.
That should fix your CWM recovery.

but after testing i wanted to get back to checkrom and now i have this problem that i can't flash any other kernel! only CF-Root is working , with any other kernel i em ending at the "Triangle"..phone is not booting any more
Really, ICS and GB is going crazy. Flash stock, kernel, flash cf root kernel, then flash newest kernel to fix sd card issue, etc... Since ICS was updated on sgs2 everywhere just problem, not booting, not installing, etc. Really, really big pain.
I dunno man what could solve you problem. I'm gonna search in all threads to find some useful information, if I will, I will post here, should be somewhere answer. LOL, best of luck.

Anyone know where I can get the multi-file old-style firmware so I can get this working again?

Here you got ICS ROMs & LS8.
That's for I9100, make sure you're packing the right model as well.
I managed to get it working again by VOLUP+Power+Menu and going into CWM and restoring from a backup.
But it is rather concerning that if I hadn't of had a backup I would be screwed right now, I use Odin and I was using the thread you posted above, however even after flashing those and even wiping user data, it still boot looped.

If you can flash a back up you should be able to flash anything else. I mean, there's nothing wrong with your device.
Are you sure kies is all closed before flashing via Odin?
Try Mobile Odin to flash a stock ROM.

Did you try follow the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
It outlines what you did, only it suggests flashing a stock ROM through Odin instead of restoring a backup. Data stored on the internal memory will be lost during process, but it seems you have no way of retrieving it anyway! Give it a go with the stock ROM's link that gastonw linked you.

Dude, your device was not "bricked" and it was of no concern. The problem was simply that you flashed a incompatible kernel.
To solve it all you needed to do was flash compatible kernel in download mode using ODIN and you would have then had correct cwm, root and rom would have booted no problem.
So today I bought Galaxy ace after having galaxy 5, which I rooted and flashed a ton of times. I picked this phone up, found a cm7 rom, tried to install it. It didn't work, it showed me errors ( I learned that you need to delete some code somewhere in the .zip file ). I tried again. It installed correctly but I couldn't boot normally, it was stuck on the starting screen. OK I thought, it could be normal, I'll just reinstall it. I did that and guess what. NOTHING. I have no idea what to do, I tried flashing with odin, but odin 4.[something] didn't even detect it and odin3 3.07 detected them but was stuck on SetupConnection... At that moment I lost hope.
How do I fix this mess
Thank you

Hello all,
I am a first-time poster on XDA, but I've read loads on this site and want to thank everyone who contributes to it!
I managed to soft brick my S5830i while flashing a dodgy ROM, and am trying to unbrick. I've been trying to do this by flashing stock firmware through Odin, but I'm not having much luck so far. I keep getting write fails. I've used multi-file firmware (through Odin v1.85/v3.07) and single-file (through Odin v3.07). I've re-downloaded several different versions of firmware, and none have worked (i.e. I don't think it's a file error). I've tried with the cooperve .pit file, tried with the bootloader. I've turned off my antivirus. I've taken the SIM and micro SD cards out of my phone (I've tried taking the battery out as well, but then my drivers stop working!). I can boot into download and recovery, otherwise I'm stuck on a boot loop.
Odin has failed a couple of dozen times with different files, and sometimes just times out while initializing.
I feel like I'm running out of options - if anyone has any fresh ideas, I'd be grateful to hear them!
Thanks very much,

I had a go at your instructions. I've wiped the data and cache multiple times as you suggested, but I'd not thought of formatting /system, so I hoped it might work. It didn't - it looks like I can't wipe it... I get an error message:

Done
I remember having problems mounting /system because of the ROM which bricked my phone in the first place! Maybe that's the problem? Any thoughts on how to get round it?

Thanks again,
In case it helps anyone else following these instructions, I found the tool. Search for "multiformatter" [note spelling]. The thread is number 2012003 and is called "[TOOL] Multi Formatter [EXT4 to RFS vice versa]" - go to page 6 as Hitesh said.
Okay, so I got the tool, flashed it on my phone, formatted everything to RFS. Once it finished I went into download mode, and tried flashing stock... still no luck! I've tried different files, different versions of Odin, different USB ports and it always gets stuck at initializing and hangs.
Any thoughts? I'm really grateful for the help so far.

Oh see our all steps are correct but now you have to check your firmware buddy...
Go to sammobile and download latest firmware and spit it by using these guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840645
And try to flash it ...
And follow that Video also provided in Guide

Just to get closure on this thread,
I continued trying everything I could to flash different versions of firmware through Odin. It was a big help to format the system in RFS, so thanks for pointing that out. After that fix, Odin was still unable to communicate with my device... but after realising that the underlying problem was now dealt with, I moved on to flashing through CWM. I didn't manage to get anything done with Odin - might be my (only!) USB cable, or my USB ports, or any of the other millions things that could go wrong with it. But I successfully flashed AndroidScream in recovery and am up and running.
Thanks again Hitesh, and also to the whole XDA community!

Hi
I am having the same problem with odin (3.7 and 1.84), its just not flashing the stock roms. I am running out of ideas and getting desperate. When you say you "formatted the system in RFS" do you mean you factory wiped your phone? If that is the case then no luck for me
Here's the Solution,

A Galaxy Ace Plus is not the equivalent of GT-S5830i. They most probably don't have the same chipset either, so DON'T TRY FLASHING GT-S5830i STUFF ON YOUR GT-S7500.
Instead, seek help on the relevant forums, and Google is also your friend.
Dude... ? I said my FRIEND has an ACE GT S5380i and she BRICKED her ace she asked me to help her out so... Please help... Me out...

What did she do to brick her phone? A ROM? A kernel?
And does she have a backup of the stock ROM?

Just Follow these TUT
Above all, do you have the Samsung USB drivers installed?
For CWM, there is a flashable temporary CWM, and several custom kernels already have CWM as the default recovery.
Please post the links as i dont know which thread to search for as i m nt familiar with d device
