Google voice search and camera - TouchPad General

Does anyone know where the issue is with these two items in the code is? I have worked as a web developer many years and would like to take a look if anyone has some immediate direction. (never worked on android roms yet) Or has anyone made any advances on these issues already?
Thanks

[Q] re-arrange items/apps in "share via" list

hi
here's a little pet peeve of mine
whenever i go to share a picture, website link, etc i am presented with a *huge* list of apps that i could ever possibly use
but here's the truth - i only ever use three (maybe four) of those apps
and, just an extra bonus, those three or four are distributed all up and down that list - and yeah, the gmail icon is at the bottom! lol
is there *any* way to modify that list??
or an app that lets us mod that list??
i'm asking you guys cuz you would know
and... if anybody wants an idea for an app to build... there ya go! i'd pay 99cents (heck, probably even 1.99) for such an app!
and, while i'm asking, i might as well say what would be just killer features ---- allow us to pick the say top five apps that would always show up, and the last entry says "all" so the entire list becomes available
would be good to be able to sort the apps that show up in that list too
anyway.. just gonna throw that out there
??
no one has anything to say about this?
Shame that there are no replies, as this is also bugging me. Here's a bump for the topic.
Annoying me as well. Recently downloaded a QR app and the damn thing added TWO entries. I'd love to be able to remove everything but email, facebook, and messaging...
How can this still be an issue
I can't believe there's no way to filter the list or at least sort the list in order used.
'Intents' and MIME-types
Recently I find that I've become rater annoyed with the list for "share via", and started wondering how I might go about deleting specific items or at the very least rearrange the order in which they appear.
I've been unable to find the answer, as most threads, only consist of the question, and no answers.
I did however find out that what causes an app to appear in the "share via"-list is an 'Intents'-argument with regards to MIME-types (.jpg or .txt etc.) when coding the app.
See: (add the http yourselves, as I'm unable to, with this being my first post)
stackoverflow .com/questions/7891473/how-to-write-an-android-share-plugin
&
stackoverflow .com/questions/3553017/android-share-via-dialog
That means, that in order to remove them from the list, we would need some app, like LBE Privacy Guard, that could limit the "offending" app's 'Intents' in certain regards.
However I've been unable to find anyone that seems to know which file to tweak in order to rearrange the order in which they appear.
I doubt this helps anyone very much, but it may just lead someone on the right path to maybe coming up with a fix for this.
Try 'Andmade Share' from the market, seems like it would be what you're after.

or
share customizer
Play link
Feature request added at code.google 2012-01-25
It would appear that a feature request has been put in at code.google at 2012-01-25
(Again add the http-part yourselves)
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24741
While we are waiting for this "obvious" feature, the above reply's seem to offer what I'm asking for, at least in an app, though it ought to be built in...
Thx a lot itscro & biopsin
EDIT: I think I'll pass on the Share Customizer, with all the funky (chinese?) writing, and dec. 2011 latest update.
Andmade Share however looks like a winner, and I like the fact, that it doesn't require any permissions...
Awesome. Andmade Share seems to do the trick. Love it when old threads are brought back to life and solve a problem.

Indeed, though it doesn't seem to work on Jelly Bean unfortunately.

Maybe not right now, but give it time, JB isn't exactly widespread just yet.
Such is the cost of being on the bleeding edge...

Its been quite awhile since this thread was active, but I'm hoping someone has something new on this topic. I can't find any other threads that cover this issue...

Anyone else have the backlight problem with Google Navigate?

When I search Google for this problem, very little comes up, although I found one other person (at least) who seems to have the same problem as me and has filed this issue on the Android bugtracker:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=20650
When I'm driving and running Google Navigate, the backlight turns off after a while and I can barely see the screen. Surely this is a bug, and not by design? When you're navigating you want to see the display clearly. It's such an obvious flaw that I can only assume that most people aren't experiencing it. So I thought I'd ask here; is anyone else getting this problem and/or does anyone know whether it can be fixed without Google updating Navigate? If you're having this problem, please vote for the issue on the code.google.com link above, and maybe Google will fix it.
Just to add, this 'feature' is also being described in various places as 'screen dimming'.

What was the version number for the last good Facebook for tablets?

Perhaps this isn't the right forum, but none of the other Android sub-forums seemed the right place for this question.
Facebook for Android running on a tablet is a horrible experience. The same version running on my phone is quite a bit better. I think I've got 1.9.9 on both my Tab 8.9 ICS and my Amaze with ICS. On my phone, when I got to someones page, I get the new timeline with coverphoto and access to things like a link to their photo albums.
With 1.9.9 on my tab, the page is compressed to a thin column in the center of the screen, going to someones profile shows some old mobile form of their profile, and has no links to things like photos. At one time, the app used the full screen on my tab (no thin center column business) and had access to all the places within facebook. I know back in the 1.8.x releases, it worked fine. I think it was the 1.9.x that brought on the center column issue.
So, does anyone know the last decent version of facebook that worked on the tablet version of android? Please no responses like "use another client", or "go to the website".
Edit: Found a very minimal listing of facebook version numbers and dates released.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/facebook-for-android/com.facebook.katana
From that, and the time I bought my tablet, I think v1.9.3 was probably the last that worked ok on my tablet. I really wish the play store had better change logs, for example, when an app dev uploads a new version, there's a what's new field. I'd like to see way to access the history of changes to that field, perhaps even a way to access old versions of an app, for cases just like this.
Sounds rom related. I run thors JB on my A500 and dont have your issue with the most recent version of facebook. Ask on the forum for your tablet, preferably in the thread for your rom and see if anyone else has the issue.

I guess I remember seeing reviews on google play stating they had the same problem and assumed it was an issue with tablets. I'm running the stock factory ROM on my tab.
When I get some time tonight, I'm going to see if I can find a couple of the older versions of the apk to see if it was a client side or server side update that caused the issue. I assume the FB app just pulls up the profile page for someone, and it's pulling up an outdated mobile page, instead of the new timeline based page. After I try a few things, I'll report back, just in case someone else stumbles on this thread with the same issue.

[Q] Is there a Twitter equivalent of Haxsync?

This is something that has been bothering me for quite a while and couldn't seem to find anything in the Play Store.
When the whole Facebook/Google API contact sync issue wasn't being worked out, many developers came up with solutions to the issue and released them in the Play Store. Yet when Twitter contact sync stopped working and was removed from newer versions, no developers tried to fix this themselves.
So here is my question: Are there any apps out there that does what I'm asking? If not, is there anything being worked on to fix this? Thanks!

I actually have a proof-of concept version based on the HaxSync codebase lying around here. Unfortunately, Twitter has harsh API limits that make contact sync pretty difficult. Their API rules are also much stricter than those of FB and I'm not a lawyer, so I haven't really bothered finding out if I'm even allowed to make HaxSync-Twitter.

[Q] Getting back separate volume control for Google Maps navigation?

I've been searching the web for a couple of days, without finding any real solution to the problem. From September 2011, Google Maps decided to lump together its volume control with media apps, that used to be separated. I found a huge thread on googleproducts forums, titled "Why is the Google Navigator Volume No Longer Separate - But Now Linked with Media Volume?" where I see that things have never changed, nor Google acknowledged this being a problem.
Now, at the beginning I was confident that a simple solution existed for a rooted phone (Note 3 9005 for me) but, alas, I can't seem to find anything. Am I missing something?
Thank you.
PS
Not able to link the discussion mentioned above, too few messages for me, still.
I suppose there could be two ways to handle this. One would be to have a "per app" volume setting, through some clever Xposed module. The other a "simpler" (don't have a clue) hack on Google Maps itself. I just find strange that there's so little "literature" around, regarding this, as it's a really annoying problem, once it manifests itself in the car.
