[Q] Firmware Update - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I received my HTC EVO View 4G and one of the main reason for me way a honeycomb, so first thing I do is go to Firmware Update section to find out following:
The firmware update could not be completed. Please try again
later. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Customer
Service. Error code:1233

wtf?!
is there a file (firmware) I can download and somehow go through that process manually? i don't want to sign up with Sprint for sure, I bought it to use as Wi-Fi only, whenever I'm outside I can tether through my Verizon 4G LTE

Go to HTC software update instead of firmware update for OTA HC. Read the warning in the dev forum first if you want root, though.

Server unavailable issue

I've been attempting to get the official 2.2 update however every time i go to the check new in the system update i get the message of server unavailable!!
Originaly my fascinate was rooted and flashed to 2.2 froyo leak , and when I heard that the official software was released I used oden install it to the official dj09 2.1 update 1 , now my phone is unrooted and unable to receive the update, would anyone know how can I get official 2.2?

Are you attempting to connect via wifi? I find I can only get official updates using Verizon's network.
I've tried with and without wifi with no success... any other suggestions?

I believe I would have to turn wi-fi off to initiate OTA updates on my DX. For kicks I would also toggle the other devices off and on prior to initializing the update. Bluetooth, gps.
I was running EB01 so I odin'd back to DI01 and DL09 but I got "server unavailable" messages when I would check for OTA updates. I've scoured the internet far and wide for a solution but I've had no luck. Can someone please chime in? I don't get why I would have this issue having odin'd back to stock and it is frustrating.
Im on that same boat I haven't found a solution, I read an old thread on a similar problem but when update 1 was releases that said that certain models can't get that update. .. I think MAYBE because we own these models?

I'm not sure what you mean by certain models. I can tell you for sure that when I was running the stock eclair build on my Fascinate a few months ago I was able to check for and install OTA updates. I've literally tried almost everything and still get the SERVER UNAVAILABLE message and can't find any help on this on any forums. If you find a solution please do post back here and I will do the same. For now I just ODIN'd the ED01 zip here.
No one else gets a SERVER UNAVAILABLE when checking for OTA updates? I really suspect even though I ODIN'd the stock tarballs something must not be stock for the OTA updates to fail. Anyone, please??
I guess we need to wait for an Odin 2.2 file

You can Odin 2.1 and then flash the ED01 update.zip. That's what I ended up doing since no one responds to these server unavailable issues.
Take a look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045753
It is not your exact problem but it does deal with a server problem.
If you can do either option it is worth a try.

[Q] New Evo view won't update to Honeycomb

I recently purchased a new HTC Evo View 4G from an internet retailer. Everything works pretty well, including CDMA 3G Internet from Ukrainian provider Intertelecom, except that I cannot update firmware to Honeycomb.
When I try an option from menu "Firmware Update", I receive the following message "The firmware update could not be completed. Please try again later. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Customer Service. Error code: 1233.
I suppose, that my device was rooted, but I don't know, how to check it and whether there are other ways to update firmware.
Can somebody help my?
if you want to use the gps at all, don't update.
Same thing happened to me. I looked in the "Settings" and found out my Flyer had been rooted and a custom rom installed. The vendor apparently didn't know. I requested and received a new Flyer. Installed fine on the new Flyer.
Most likely my firmware is original. There are plenty of HTC apps, which successfully update, also sprint apps and so on. I can update just everything on this tablet, but firmware.
Apps and such don't matter, it could just be a custom/stock ROM. Do you have Superuser in your App Drawer? What does your Settings->About page say?
Haha . If you want honeycomb you don't click firmware update you click HTC software update !
I get the same message on completely stock. I think firmware update has a tie in with sprint services. I use it as wifi only.

I agree, all my apps were stock, but "settings" told the story. I was rooted and a custom rom was installed. This was a Bestbuy Flyer, so someone returned it and
vendor sold as new.

Upgrade to JB from rooted, unlocked, stock 10o version without LGNPST

I was on stock ICS but rooted and unlocked and on software version 10o and wanted to update to JB but was reluctant to do LGNPST so I tried this and it worked for me so hopefully it will help some of you out.
Reading some of the forum posts, I understood that JB update won't remove root but if you have unlocked bootloader it errors out so:
First Step (locking the bootloader) :
Used FreeGee paid app from play store to restore my backup (which I believe locks the bootloader)
Second Step (Contact AT&T)
I contacted the technical support through the online chat option and told them that I would like the JB update but I am on version 10o. He told me to first connect my phone to wifi to be able to receive the updates. He was able to push 11c update to my phone which I installed and rebooted the phone. Checked that my root stayed intact using the Titanium Backup.
Third Step (Reset the update clock)
When I checked for a software update after upgrading to 11c, it told me to wait 24 hours so I went into TiBu to clear the olam data but it did not detect a new update so I advanced my clock to April 8, checked for update and it started downloading the update. Changed the clock back to today's date.
After that the phone downloaded the update, it rebooted, installed firmware, installed software and updated the android apps (48 something) and now I am on JB.
Hope this helps someone who was in similar situation.
I assume you still have root? Did you also unlock it with freegee after Jb?

Yes. I still have root. I have not tried unlocking with freegee after JB but the change log said it unlocks after at&t JB update so I think it should work.
Is there a specific keyword you are using to tell the customer service rep? I called 611 and they said they do not have any ability to push any update to any particular phone. They said that you just have to wait.

I prefer to chat.. so I just went to the technical support chat directly but they can definitely push an update to you. I didn't specifically ask for 11c update but I told them that I am on 10o and trying to update. I have found the chat more useful than phone.
Just got off the chat with the same results. Oh well. Hopefully it gets rolled out here soon. For reference I'm in Seattle.

I think when I was chatting with the rep, one of things he copy pasted in the chat window said that the customer needs to be on 11c to be eligible for JB update. May be try chatting with them again and ask them to push 11c update to you. I should have taken the screenshot of the chat window.
Just use lgnpst to get on 11c. G33k3r released the 11c file last night after I discovered you needed to be on 11c to receive the update. Lgnpst didn't effect your warranty so your good to go.

So i'm omn E97011c android 4.0.4 on a rooted phone.. once i click update software it will find JB and update.. i'll still have root when it's done?
Thx!
Couldn't wait any longer and just gave in. Used LGNPST to flash to 11c that was provided in the other thread. After that was upgraded I immediately got notified for the JB update. All my data was retained and nothing was lost in the process.
Thanks to the IRC channel for the help.

Yes, you will still have root. If you have unlocked the bootloader, you should lock/restore them before updating.

Yes. You need LS970.DLL

Or you could just flash the stock zip snowleopard posted and keep unlock and root.

You will need a PC. If you were rooted you could download the flashable zip and have it. But again you need a PC to root!
Sorry!
So you don't know anyone with a PC?
You don't need to be rooted to flash the zip version -- you just need CWR or TWRP.
So, have you installed a recovery?
I havn't installed recovery yet, im new to this, but do I download a recovery and then once I do this, what would I use to flash? Ty

From a pure stock phone:
Plan A: Download Kies software (google for it). Install Kies software, connect phone to pc, and let the phone upgrade to 4.1.2. Phone will be pure stock JB.
Plan B: Download JB update file from development section. Download Odin3 software - find it by googling "odin3 1.85". Then run odin software, reboot phone in download mode, connect to pc, and install JB update. Phone will be pure stock JB.
Plan C: Wait a few days and you will get a software update notification. Accept the terms, and phone will update itself to pure stock JB.
If you don't have access to a pc you will have to wait a few. The last ICS update took only four days to hit the phones after the release on the world wide interweb.
I updated but its really not different than 4.0.4 ICS . . . No new features but lots of extra bloatware from at&t.

No you do not need root to use Odin. In fact, you use Odin TO root.

It is highly doubtful that this update will be released as an OTA. Better start looking for a PC or go to a friends house.
Why not, Amigo? And do you think that will leave out Canadian phones too?
Almost 800MBs is quite high for an OTA update especially since this is a totally new OS with different partitioning. More likely it will be a Kies update only. Should be no difference for Canadian versions once released. Time will tell and this is only my educated guess by experience. I know I have read that it can be received OTA but nobody that I have seen has reported it yet.
Probably right. But at&t could break the update into two parts. They did that on a big windows phone update a few years ago. Just a speculation.
I know at least telus made the ics update ota..
It's doable, not even that outlandish really, cause Going from ics to jb would be pretty much the same as gingerbread to ics...
oem roms of all 3 android versions have been relatively the same size and partitioning can be done on device within the update script.
It being possible and them doing it are different arguments though lol

Update for GT-i9300T?

Hi all, I've searched through the forums but am not getting the information I want so thought I'd ask here. If the info is out there then please just show me where it is. Not used to having so much info to read as the HTC One X forums didn't have as much info
I've got a GT-I9300T version which I've read is the Australian/NZ specific version. I was just wondering, what with all this talk about the 4.2.2 update, if my phone will be getting the update as soon as it's released for the international version? The reason I ask is because I'm considering rooting and flashing a custom rom for better battery life but if 4.2.2 is going to be out soon then I thought I'd might as well wait and then root, backup and flash.
I've just come from a HTC One X and was very used to flashing custom roms over there. Whenever there was an update for a HTC phone, the hboot would be updated and if you didn't update your phone from the official ota, then there's a process that you have to go through to update your hboot so that it's compliant with the latest android update. Is there a similar concept for samsung phones too or does it not matter?
Thanks in advance!

So when 4.2.2 comes out, all the firmware will be available online, regardless of the fact that it hasn't reached a particular model ota?

Yes, the firmwares will come out region by region. Usually available on SamMobile.com. You can also use I9300 firmwares btw.
