The permission of these 3 language files is not rw-r-r ... is --xrwxr-x !
I tryed to reinstall it, i put the files inside folder then set permission like the other files inside but still no changes ... !
you need to change permissions from --xrwxr-x to rw-r-r

Ok, I rooted and remapped the keyboard, and ti works fine, however, in order to get rid of the ugly language bar in landscape mode, I unchecked "default input settings" in the settings and.... they keyboard started acting as finnish/swedish again! When I checked "default input settings" - it reverted to normal. Is there any other file to edit?
ive got teh same problem
hmm since its still trying to grab qwerty-se-fi....what if we replace that with the qwerty-en.xml.
nope no dice
Any other ideas where the keyboard layout might be hiding?
if you uncheck the default input, the system uses the qwerty.kcm.bin file in /system/usr/keychars folder.
to get that replaced by the english layout you have to copy the qwerty-en.kcm.bin file from the /system/usr/keychars/mimmi/keyprints folder up into the /system/usr/keychars folder and save it as the qwerty.kcm.bin file.
i have read this somewhere on the x10 forum. i can't find the topic at the moment.
as i mentioned in another thread, the paths are from android 1.6. they might be different on 2.1.

also, i don't know how to make modifications inside these bin files but would very much like to find out.

You didn´t understand. This is easy, and everyobody does it. The problems start when you untick the default entry method in keyboard properties. Read carefully first post.
any updates?

I downgraded to 1.6 German and will wait for official release. Having a Swedish layout on a German keyboard using English for typing is too much for my poor brains. Meanwhile since you ar on 2.1 can you check the idea below?

I strongly suspect that this file will be the same in 1.6 . So what I will try to do - save this file from a german version of 1.6, flash nordic, and install the file from german version.
PS - tested it works.
great!works!
thanks everyone!
@magizhang...where'd you get the en layout?

Don´t forget that we will have to repeat this monkey business after every upgrade!
On the other note - I see here people of all nations, from all corners of the world rapidly and efficiently working together and solving all kinds of problems and I ask myself why it doesn´t happen offline in the real life. Makes me really sad.

This may be a stupid question but, when you put the apk file in system/apps/ and set the permissions, did you reboot afterwards?
yes i restard the phone, and nothig... y cant select for a input metod by long press on the layout and select in the "input metod" menu
In this rom have one bug of the keyboard app, I need the stock sony ericsson keyboard(2.1-update-1 T9 keyboard) ! Or the original android keyboard. Thanks!

hi,
I'm trying to install stock sms app but i can't achieve this. It keeps saying : installation aborded
I am on chameleon rom 1.1 ( hybrid aosp/samsung rom)
Can you help me ?
(sorry if i made mistakes in my post i'm not english XD )
You should copy the apk into /system/app, then change permissions into 644 (rw--r--r), change group and owner to 'root', and finally reboot and try.

i already tried it and it didn't work. and i am not sur about the about i trid to install because it s difficult to find the stock sms app.
i changed the permissions but i don t understand what you are saying by " 644 (rw--r--r)"
theoricaly it should work since i use an hybrid app ?
With a file manager, backup your mms.apk in /system/app in whatever folder you want. Then, copy the stock mms.apk into /system/app.
You shouldn't click on the .apk and let the app install as you do with other apk files, because this is a system application.
644 means read/write-read-read.
rw-r--r means u set read and write in the owner row , and set read only in the group row , and set read only too in the others row
Note : u get to permissions window in root explorer afer changing r/o read only to r/w read write from the button at the top
then just long click the item u want to change its permissions
i tried what you have said and it didn't work. Is a flashable zip existed ?
up
The stock mms.apk might not be compatible with the custom ROM you have on your phone...
Why do you say it doesn't work? What happens? You open it and it FCs or something else?
I just followed instructions given by posters above and it didn't worked. ( remove the old Mms.apk by the stock one, and fix the permissions, then reboot ) Maybe i don't have the good app, i don't understand why it didn't work; The chameleon rom support stock camera app of samsung and others apps...

Maybe the pakage cant be praised because of android version differnece , some apks from ics dont work on Jb and vice versa
So if u want a stock sms to work on jb , then download another jb rom that has it and take it from there
For pushing files to system app , it is better to first delete the app u want to replace then do a reboot after that copy the new app to system app and set premissions and set r/w back to r/o
Here are some custom themed Note Pro Keyboard apk files with screen shots available for download. Mikep2323 and I have been working on different themes and will post more as they become available. To install, just download the apk, change the name to SamsungIME.apk. Then using a file explorer of your choice (with superuser privilege) backup and delete the original apk from system/app and replace with a themed apk. Reboot, then with your file explorer navigate to the apk click on it and install with package installer. Once that is done you will need to go to settings/controls and enable Samsung keyboard as primary input and download your language dictionary in the keyboard settings.

I dont think so cause there both named SamsungIME.apk.You can always just rename one and keep them both in system/apps then change back and fourth if you wanted.I usually name the original one org.SamsungIME.apk then put the themed one in and if i want to change back to original i just change the names around reboot and original one is back there.Hope this helps.
