[HELP] My device just stopped working - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Today like 2 hours ago it was working just fine and i saw that my device had only %11 of it's battery so i've closed it to be able to listen music when i walk to my home but when i was on my way to home i just couldn't turn my phone on. I thought it consumed it's battery and wasn't able to open but when i got home and plugged it to charger it gave no response no charging icon, i've tried removing battery then plugging in and inserting battery afterwards but did not work again what should i do it was rooted and checkrom v4 installed and i've bought it from finland

it's getting HOTTER as it's plugged in charger so that means it still takes electricity right?

Put on charge and wait one hour .
Choices
Can you swap the battery
can you get to download mode or recovery mode .
USB Recovery jig to get to download mode .
As the phone is not covered by warranty with root and custom rom it will be best to try to recover rather than paying service .

Did you flash any custom ROMs or is your phone completely stock?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
First thing to do is to check the battery condition.
Put the phone on charge, then plug in the battery. Is there any heat as it charges?

yes there is heat .. i don't think the battery is dead .. when i removed the battery it was on charge and fully charged ..
sorry sorry there is no heat tell now
You have no recovery mode to try a factory reset .
In which case you need a service centre .
jje
so that's it i have to return the phone for the second time ..
and what is about the battery heat there is no heat does that mean the battery is dead or what

I just tested it and apparently no, won't turn on or go into either recovery or download mode.
You might get lucky and its just a faulty battery or your phone might really be dead. Either way your all set as its under warranty...

[Q] [Help] Galaxy S2 died, someone could help me? Urgent!

Good.
My galaxy s2 failed to turn on.
Yesterday I installed the rom-BAR7 CriskeloRomV22-S-Tog-BLN-CallRec-Overscroll-3LS-CamHack-PWR-M-Esxt-(XXKI3-2.3.5), and the kernel SiyahKernel v1.7.8
and it works good
He was charging all night, the morning did the Battery Calibration, and was working perfectly
By late afternoon, I'll take it, and it dont turn on, nor in download mode or recovery mode or normally.
If you connect the charger a bit, note that it heats up, but no links or picture or anything
If connected to the computer appears to be installed this drive, but without success as you can see the image HERE
What solutions are there, without being sent to the warranty?
thanks
Pull the battery, wait a minute, reinsert the batterry and see if you get in recovery or downloadmode.
You could try a USB Jig.

Just a thought
Maybe you had huge battery drain because of the rom or an application and it can not charged because of the temperature.Happened to me once with cm7(most probably my drain was from webroot security or setcpu)
.Remove the battery for longer time eg 15minutes and try to charge it
Ps if you have zero battery you can not enter recovery or download mode.I lived that and its really annoying

Yes as you have been informed already .
One try the USB recovery jig to turn download mode on that fails or you dont want to try a service centre for a non warranty repair .

Just another guess:
Charge the battery for some minutes.
After unplugging the phone, pull out the battery, external SD-card and SIM-card for some minutes.
Try to start that phone with battery only.
Good luck ...
Send from my SGS2 (GT-I9100) running XXKI3 with CF-Root 4.2
if you know someone who has the same phone why not try using their battery?
or leave the phone to charge overnight and see what happens in the morning...

hi tiagoorg i m still exact same situation as you. you can see my update in my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18139062
listen how far i come to know that it is mostly happend by moisterizer or humidity.
mostly people take his fone in their pocket and when sweat release from body body's tempreture again conveert it into vaupour and this vapour some how enter in to mobile in your pocket. so go to samsung care or any good mobile repair shop who know his job better and say your exact situation and also say which i mention here ok. may be they can help you to dry the battery coonect point ok. becos some time when you pull off your battery and press the power switch button for 1 minute and then put back battery on mobile but dont push power button only insert the battery, u will find that near camera some heat is rising up and after some time it would be good heat enough near your camera. if i m rite then plz reply me ok.u know i did every thing like bootloader update, jtag but no success. if u have external charger charge ur s2 bateery with it and then clear ur battery touch point in both means on fone and basttery too with blade or paper knife and then insert ur battery if u will lucky u will see that ur fone will start but when will u switch off ur fone again ur fone will refuse to start. i m damn sure about it. reply if it happens to u ok

[Q] Phone Suddenly Died

My S3 suddenly died and its not responding pressing the power button. And sad thing is it wont go through recovery mode and download mode using the button combination. Anyone experienced? and somehow is there any fix for this other than having it service? Need help badly
Im on Stock ICS with root...
Root voids warranty ..
You need to try a USB recovery jig from ebay or the like to boot to download mode .

Tried the usual suspects like a new battery & charger lead?

[Q] S3 doesn't charge when phone is turned off

Hello everybody!,
My name is Ferdi and usually if i need help i can find it somewhere on this forum but for this problem I searched the whole internet but couldn't find a thing about it
The problem:
Last week I turned off my S3. it went out for 1 second, suddenly after that the screen turns on again telling me: Downloading, do not turn of target.
So i didn't turn it off because i thought it was actually downloading. it wasn't downloading but it did manage to get my battery empty real quick.
When my battery was empty i tried to charge it at home but it didn't respond to anything (different chargers, connecting it to PC etc.)
I got a new battery thinking my Li-Ion battery had its best time, this new battery did wel and i was able to charge it when it was on.
after i put it off once more it showed the same "Downloading" message again and i pulled out the battery so it wouldn't get empty again.
Tried to reboot a minute later, S3 booted like it was supposed too.
Summary:
The thing is that I can only charge it when it's on.
Does anybody know what I can do to fix it because i turned it off again leaving the battery in it and the battery is now empty and the telephone does not respond to anything anymore.
Thank you very much in advance!
Kind regards,
Ferdi

Thanks for your quick respond,
do you think it is a pure software problem?
the main issue for me is that i can't boot it into download mode even now because it won't charge when it's off and the battery is down.
Charge your battery in an external charger or someone else's S3.
Download a full stock rom from sammobile and flash using odin, follow instructions from 'how to return to stock guide'.
Once stock then test charging function, if still the same then hardware fault - you'll need a service centre.

Galaxy s2 wont charge but will go to recovery mode

hi my Galaxy s2 wont charge but will go to download mode i have a jig and it opens download mode but the phone will not charge but will go download mode. it has just been fixed just over a month ago so not in warranty is it the port or batteary plus it was all ok last night. it completely died so i put it on charge and it came up with the charging symbol and i went back and will not charge. thanks
Go to a local mobile phone shop and ask to test and new battery. If the new battery don't work then it will probably be a faulty usb port. Have you tried to clean it? Have you tried to charge from pc/laptop to rule out a faulty charger? Does the phone boot up and run ok?

You should see how late I am with replys sometimes lol you can clean USB with 100% alcohol and a tooth bush. BE NICE WITH IT AND TAKE YOU'RE TIME. Take battery out of phone before you try and clean it. do try and test with a new battery.
