I've noticed a recent problem with my razr that I've had for about a month. It now doesn't charge from my car charger, which is the Verizon branded one with two USB sockets.
The charger works for other phones and devices. It also doesn't charge while docked in a speaker I have with a micro USB dock. it does charge when plugged into the wall with stock or non-stock wall charger. I'm running a stock ROM, .748 update, and the big dx ics theme. First noticed the problem two days ago, before I had loaded that theme with boot strap. Reboot doesn't fix it.
Had anyone else experienced this or heard about it? Any ideas on fixing it?

only issue i had with this is when the USB is already charging something and i go to charge the Razr. it would charge for a few mins then it would display 'disconnected' on the Razr and say that it's not charging..but then a few mins later it would start charging and do the whole 'disconnected' thing all over again

Greets - I came from the Incredible, so I have a BUNCH of chargers (car and wall). Does anyone know if these will work with the Rezound, or if I have to buy a new one (I know Thunderbolt stuff would work; but I didn't have that phone).
Also, anyone know why the phone would flash orange, while off, when plugged into the charger for the first 30 seconds to so, before going solid orange to charge?
If they're microusb and the charger can output 5 volts and at least .5 amps, it will charge. It will charge faster with a charger that can provide more amperage, but that's all.
I use my Incredible charger and USB cable and everything works just fine. The wall charger is actually the exact same charger. As for aftermarket chargers I would assume they would work seeing as the device charges on standard 5v 1A that most USB chargers provide.
I am using the same stand alone charger I used for my Thunderbolt.
Flashing Orange
I prefer to charge the phone with the power off, so it gets a full charge. When I plug in a charger it flashes orange for up to a minute before going solid orange to charge (ultimately going to full green). Any idea what flashing orange means ESPECIALLY in a powered off (but plugged in) state?
Mine never has blinked, just shows orange til charged, then green.

I think that the orange blink has something to do with either battery temp or when the battery is fully dead. It happens to me to. I wish the manual had more about it...

I still have a few 5V 700mA blackberry chargers lying around that I use if I have to, but I prefer the one that came with the phone (or the one that came with my dinc -- same output specs) because it charges faster.
Whew

Punman - THANKS! You are right that my battery was completely dead yesterday. I had charged my first Rezound before using it, but the 2nd one was with whatever charge was on it from the factory. Had been trying to load it up and get it up and running, and was less than 10 seconds from shutting it down smoothly before it ran out. In fact, I was in the process of the shutdown procedure (already hit shut down), but it ran out before it could finish. We'll see what happens tonight.
If the LED is flashing orange it means the phone is unable to power on, for either reason it is too hot, or too dead. Once it goes solid it is charging and is able to power on.
Does anybody else have an issue with their X2 when it's plugged in to either the wall or computer of the screen not responding like normal thus rendering the phone completely useless while charging? It doesn't happen every time, but probably 35% of the time which is still more than it should. And it's not just my phone either, my wife's X2 does it as well and all 3 of the X2's I've had have done it on both stock and eclipse.
Just wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue.

I believe the charger is to blame not comlatible. Not every charger is setup with same pins or wattage... if ur mis-matching equipment.
MIUI X2
I have noticed this. With mine the keyboard becomes sluggish and the lockscreen is hard to unlock. I have eclipse now and it hasn't done that yet.

I have five different USB cables and they all work fine. I've never seen this issue before. Weird!
Sometimes mine does this not sure what causes it. Seems like phone is usually warm when it does. maybe it gets too warm with screen and charging at same time. i have had it happen with every ROM even stock.

I've used my old Crackberry charger along with my usb cord for the cpu, car and wall chargers. Havent had this problem. Strange......
Today it hasn't happened on the same cable at work.
Mine doesn't seem to take issue with any specific charger or cable except for one which is the one that was sent with my wife's phone from verizon, screws both of them up, and it's a moto charger with the same voltage/amperage as the other moto ones, but it has a 9 ft cable.

Interesting it has happened on vz provided chargers. Do theyhave the Moto M on them, or sonething else?
Mine specifically is 5.1V~850mA. Has a USB cable. Has a port we can plug a cable into.
I'd be curious what everyone else has. I wouldn't think it's the cable itself but working in technology, I've seen stranger things.

It could be one of two things, either:
1. you're using a usb cable with a broken data pin.
2. you're using a charger that doesn't output enough current.
the problem lies in a lack of available current in a certain charging state, a "fast charge" if you will. you get either not a high enough sustained supply voltage, or "dirty" power (essentially a little AC in your DC) and that really screws with the capacative touchscreen.
with a bad cable, the phone thinks it's plugged into a charger and not a usb port so it will try to draw up to 850ma from a port that can only feed 500ma if you're lucky.
with a bad charger, or one incapable of supplying the required current, you get "DC ripple" where your voltage fluctuates up to half a volt or more, 60 times every second. generally your phone will get very warm under this condition as well.
so it could be a cable, a charger or a combination of both.
some car chargers are notorious for making dirty power... so are some cars...

Oddly enough I have zero problems with the car chargers, the phones work fine when plugged into them.
Yeah the newest cable is one that is USB and 9 ft long but not moto one that verizon sent with my wife's phone. The moto one that came with mine an the two moto ones I got from Amazon I don't have any issue with but the cables are so stinking short they are a pita to use anyway (2' cables).
I've also noticed that the USB ports on different computers charge at different rates as well. My work computer will barely charge the phone and sometimes can't even maintain the battery level if I'm using it. My laptop at home charges it pretty good but you can't use the phone because you get the screen issue again.

Yeah, I have had this same issue for quite some time and after reading this forum tonight I tried a new charger and BAM, problem fixed! I had thought it was my phone, but it was definitely the charger. The one I was using was the Verizon 9ft charger they send out with replacement phones. Model: B141000. Black with green on the back. Gave my wife my charger that came with the DX2 to take to work and use because I liked this big long cord. So for months now whenever I tried to use the phone while it was charging it lagged so bad I would have to continuously unplug it and plug it back in when I was finished. Needless to say, having a text conversation when battery was almost dead was really annoying...
So when I read this post tonight I went up and grabbed my old Samsung charger from my old Samsung Fascinate and sure enough it worked just fine... No lag what so ever. So I am guessing it is an issue with the DX2 and the generic Verizon charger they send with replacement phones not being compatible...
Furthermore just as a test I just tried the actual 9ft USB cord with the Samsung plug you plug into the outlet and its still working fine... So I assume its the Verizon plug part not putting put enough voltage or something. Pretty happy that I can seemingly still use my 9ft cord! So if you have a spare plug I would say give it a try!
Upgraded to ICS today and now a portable battery charger I use is no longer functioning!!
Works on wife's Samsung Stratosphere just fine but not on my Maxx since the ICS update.
I turned off USB debugging which didn't help. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this. Going on extended trip with limited availability of electricity and need portable unit to work.
i'll need to charge up my ext btty and test... probably has something to do with mass storage mode.
I had same issue with charger I have in my car! But mine not only doesn't charge it actually drains the battery rather quickly I was at 30% the other day figured I plug it in for ride home from my friends house and was at 10% once I got home!

Check your AC adapter, especially if you're using the travel adapter. If the connection is loose, it will think you're charging with USB. Go to your phone settings and make sure it says "Charging (AC)" and not "Charging (USB)"....unless you ARE charging with USB, then it's supposed to be slow...iono about 6 hours though...

It says AC...
Check..
Are you charging from computer or the power point. Are you using the charger you got with your phone?
I had the same problem with my phone. Turned out it was the USB cable. Got it replaced from Samsung. You might want to check a different USB cable or a different charger. If you are trying a different charger do make sure the output matches with the stock charger. Also have you tried resetting it back to factory default?

Battery charging incredibly slowly even after switching cables
I got the notification to update my I9300 to Jelly Bean yesterday and went ahead with it. The battery lasted an okay enough time, but I left it plugged in using the stock wall charger overnight. After almost 11 hours, it has only gone from 10% to 75% and I've seen it drop a couple of times while I've gone through the settings. Switching to another charger doesn't seem to make a difference and using the CurrentWidget app shows about 999mA all the time. I haven't rooted it or anything, so it has been difficult to find threads with the exact same issue. Is anyone else experiencing something similar? Thanks!

hi there i just got the same problem as you are getting right now im observing my gs3 and found the charging is very slow 1% evry 30mintues and that the condition is the brightness is low wifi and 3g is off i notice this happen just this morning after 24 hour of chargin using the AC charger from the galaxy s2. right now im using usb cable plugin to the wall out let and also tried plug it in to usb port still having slow charging issue my s3 is JB updated and that it is not rooted, before all this issue happen i was using the same usb cable tha im using bow 2days ago and i have no issue i could watch movie while plugin to the usb port or the wall outlet and im still around 94 to 97% charge with full brightness on and wifi and 3g is on, im in singapore and the outlet here is 220v. ill try to check if might be thusb cable is the issue r not.
my problem is the cable. i used my old samsung phone's charger and it worked!
Same here..
Same problem here, the i9300 charged almost nothing through the night. It recognised the charger as AC. After I woke up, I just took the cable out and reinserted it, then it charged way faster the short while before I went to work. I read somewhere that phones with jelly bean installed OTA over gingerbread could have this problem? I can't really say if it's the charger, the cable or the phone that is the culprit. I have previously had a problem with getting the phone to accept my car charger as well..
The cable you use makes a huge difference.
Best to use the original cable, using an old Nokia cable also works fine.
Be ware of 3rd party cables that for some reason dont deliver sufficient juice to the phone and then it charges very slow....
I guess I should add that I used the original cable and charger. I'll come back with a post if I experience more problems.

For some reason, my battery only wants to charge when it's plugged into my computer. If I plug it into the wall, the battery page displays that it's being charged by USB and not by the AC Adapter that came with it. Plus it charges very slowly, even slower than my computer. When I plug it into my car charger, it doesn't charge at all.
Does anyone else have this problem? I'm gonna charge it for a while and try flashing a new ROM, it started happening since I got on a certain nightly update.

I"m having this problem. Read on another forum that several people were experiencing problems with charging. One guy opened up the phone and noticed that a few pins to the usb port on the phone appeared to be burned/corroded. I went to Verizon today and ordered a replacement. I'm not thrilled about the idea of getting a refurbished phone and may just use the purchase protection from my credit card to get a new one. Not sure if it's something that's been fixed or not or if I'll have the same problem with the replacement phone.... keeping my fingers crossed.
Are you still having the problem?
