[Q] Can you use an Unlocked Optimus T with Verizon??? - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hey guys - I'm pretty new on this xda forum and was just wondering if the above "subject" line is possible??? I have searched online and have found no source. I know Verizon uses CDMA network whereas Tmobile uses GSM but maybe if a device can be unlocked that it'll make this possible? I greatly appreciate a feedback. Thanks!

There's no way. You answered your own question in the original post. If you unlock it you can only use it with GSM based carriers.

Look at it this way, atleast you didn't drop 300 bucks on an OpT

this can techncialy not work as the Optimus T only comes with the GSM or CDMA chip unlike the new iPhone which has both included.
The Optimus T is not a bad entry phone but considering that Android 4 is out and I am not sure if the Optimus will ever have it maybe look for a different more modern cheap phone to run Android on T Mobiles cheap prepaid plans

Help AT&T Atrix on Tmobile

I just bought the prepaid 4G prepaid plan using my atrix and I'm only getting 2G speed. I read that it has to do with the frequency. I can't afford to buy a new phone, so I'm hoping to be able to change the phone frequency or hear any other solution that someone has already tried to get 4G speed. Thanks!

Hey, sorry I dont have a solution to your question but a question myself lol. I'm looking to switch to t-mobile pre-paid or month to month also. What all did you have to do to make the switch? Pretty simple?
someone already asked about using their atrix on the T-Mobile network.
search for it. I'm sure you'll find the answer with about 15 or less of search time.
----
and I found it already. took me like 5-7 minutes. and it's only because I read a few different threads as well.
so yeah. search. quite easily found.
Frequency=radio=hardware
Get to soldering and hacking drivers if you want to change the freq.

Its impossible to change the frequency of a device. There's a reason these things have to go through the FCC before they hit the market. Enjoy your EDGE. I recommend checking out Opera Mini, if you can live with some weird looking pages it'll speed up your web browsing quite a bit.
Not possible by software. Sorry.

Difference in models?

New to this forum. I'm thinking of selling my nexus s for a RAZR, or RAZR MAXX. I'm seeing a lot of talk in regards to the different variants of the phone ie GSM vs CDMA. When I search for the specs on line I only find one version. Will one from Verizon work with Rogers in Canada? Should I look for a particular model number? Just looking for some advice before I fork out the cash.

That helps explain the difference between the two.

The RAZR on their website appears to be GSM. I would call Rogers and verify which model you need before purchasing from a third party, though.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, referring to your original question, the Verizon RAZR is CDMA, not GSM.

What type of network are you on? CDMA is Verizon's network. What type of network is Rogers?

Again, how are they going to use a GSM device on Verizon? Verizon is a CDMA network primarily, with LTE being the only type of GSM service they have. Unless you have some magic radio dust, you need to a VZW device to use VZW's network.
Oh so trolling me means the cdma versions released dont apply? The n7100 and 7105 are not the only note 2s, i got it, if you havent something to add thats helpfull then dont post please.

So, you want to know who has tried the Note II on Verizon? Unless you are a device tester, no one has used the Note II on Verizon's network. Yes, we could go out and try a T-Mobile Note II, but I can't see anyone on VZW spending $650 for an unlocked international version when it won't work on VZW's network.
Maybe you should realize that you're posting in a VERIZON ONLY forum and asking people their opinion's on GSM devices that have a snowball's chance in hell of working on Verizon's network before you start complaining about responses you're getting.
I posted it in the note 2 general q&a before it was separated into different flavors by the mods into individual carrier models, and btw people unlock phones and try different networks all the time, and there are at least 3 models from south korea that could play nicely with Verizon with a little effort and was hoping someone had found a useful bit of info. So once again if you dont have something helpful to post please dont

You really have no idea how VZW's network works do you? If you can't get a Sprint LTE device to work on VZW, how do you think you're going to get an international version working? Just because it supports LTE doesn't mean it will work. If that was the case, why aren't people using AT&T or Sprint Note II's on VZW? Or one of the many other LTE capable phones out there that are available? The reason is because you can't. It won't work, and even if they did support the same protocols and frequencies, you would need to know someone that has access to backend VZW systems that would be willing to risk their job for you to even hope at getting it to work.

lol some people are just fools who will never understand the concept of how the networks really work out there. If it really worked, hell people would be going to one dealer to get it $50 cheaper like AT&T has, and then just using it with their unlimited data on Verizon.
You guys are morons, i am NOT TALKING ABOUT ONLY GSM i am also talking about the cdma korean versions, ever heard of cdma workshop? How bout unlocking? For being on xda you are kinda out of it. Ive gotten my answer thank you, two of these versions DO work according to pms iv gotten from people that live or travel to/from south korea where guess what they use CDMA. Only in the us do carriers stop you from using a boughten phone on another network.

Yeah, we're all idiots and have no idea what we're talking about. Care to tell me how they got the ESN into VZW's database? How are they authenticating and using the LTE network, or even using the CDMA network properly? Probably by doing stuff that is less than legal, or they know people that not many others do. And if it's so easy to do, don't you think that people would be importing the international versions frequently rather than getting bloated Verizon versions? Then again, we're all just idiots, so wtf would we know.
sprints version should be able to work on Verizon, they are both cdma+lte with global capabilities... I know they could since sprint and Verizon roam of each other just like AT&T and T-Mobile do and unlocked gsm phones work on AT&T and T-Mobile all you should have to do is unlock a sprint version

Sprint doesn't use the same LTE frequency, and you wouldn't be able to get the phone's ESN info in VZW's database. This is why I've been saying you have to get a VZW version to use on VZW.

To be a recognized dev you really are trolling pretty badly. The dude asked if anyone had gotten another Note2 to work on verizon. We are all very happy you understand the policy behind the scenes of getting the device onto the network. There are plenty of people who do have connections within Verizon that could possibly have set it up to make it happen. I'm sure you know all about chipsets and network bands so I'm sure you understand it is completely within the realm of the possible that it happened. Don't bust on the guy for asking a question.

Would you risk your job to put a friend's Note 2 from another carrier in the system just so they could use the network? I imagine there are some very heavy restrictions on adding new devices to the database, with pretty heavy consequences if you're just adding stuff for fun. Is it possible to make it happen? Yes, it is. Is it likely to happen? No, and I doubt if you did get someone to add the phone info, they wouldn't want you to go around posting about it everywhere.
Given the likelihood is next to zero for knowing someone with the access to do this, being able to buy a non-VZW phone with the proper radio frequencies that isn't a VZW specific device, and then getting said person to add said device to the network, I don't get why the thread was started to begin with. I know of people that have tried to get Sprint CDMA only devices on VZW's network, and even that is a venture in futility, so I can't imagine how you expect to get an LTE Note II from a non-US carrier to work.
Also, you people need to learn what trolling is, as I wouldn't consider any of my posts in this thread to be trolling. I'm stating facts as to why what the OP is asking is extremely unlikely and near impossible. Trolling rarely is factual. Maybe you could say I'm a troll if I came here posting "OMG, I'm using it on VZW's network right now and it's the best thing since sliced French Bread", but I'm not.
So it is possible
It was just a question (in the Q&A section no less) looking for like minded people to respond
Trolling is responding without addressing the topic or in this case answering the question, which was what you did.... repeatedly.
I'm only responding because I would expect much more in a response from a developer. Leave the negativity and the can't do attitude to someone else.

[Q] Which version should I get?

Hi guys,
I went ahead and got a D801 (T-Mobile) thinking basically all G2s had all the bands listed in GSM Arena. I sadly found out after I got the device that this is not the case and that the D801 doesn't have the 900 band for HSDPA, which is what my carrier uses, so I'm stuck with Edge.
I'm now selling it in order to get another one that works for me (because why would you buy a Ferrari if you couldn't drive over 20Mph?...)
I've been reading up on the subject trying to find one that fits the bill but I find a lot of conflicting/confusing info so I'm just asking straight out, which version of the G2 do I need to get in order to have HSDPA on the 900 band?
Thanks in advance.
Sprint maybe

Does anybody know a place where I can see the different bands for all models? I can't find one single place that has them all.

Thanks! That's just wat I needed. I was on wikipedia before but some how I missed it.
Seems like the only one I can go for is the Verizon one. Honestly, I'm not too thrilled given their update record on my current phone (Motorola Droid 2 Global) which is also from Verizon (yeah, I waitied A LOT to do the upgrade but I really liked having a keyboard so I held on to it as long as I could).
I'll need to check how's the development scene for this one (although, I think T-Mobile is the the one with the least development going on for what I've seen) but if the scene is good I think I might go for it. Otherwise I'll get a Nexus 5 which is the closest thing to a G2.

[Q] LGOG on T-Mobile

Hi! I have a question regarding the widely known problem regarding the LGOG lack of LTE on T-Mobile.
Does anyone have a N4 converted LGOG? Is that able to run LTE? Or, is there any way to make the network believe that the device is a Nexus 4 instead of an LGOG?
Thanks in advance for answers. At this point, I'd give anything for LTE. Even a 20-minute call with 611 did nothing, and their support request disappeared.
