I'm still stuck on 8.8.3.27 firmware. For some reason when I go into settings/about/check updates it says there are no available updates. There have been 2 firmwares released already and I wasn't able to grab any of them via OTA. I already tried a factory reset. I searched a long time to see if anyone got this problem resolved.
I have the same problem with a german Prime. I didn't get the notification that an update was available (27 -> 29).
maybe ASUS stopped the update push since a lot of failures were being reported as the result.
I have a US version and was not able to update since I got it which was back on the 27th. It is really annoying me as I'm trying to manually update but with no success. There has to be a reason it is not seeing any update. Some kind of setting? I'm not sure but I hope I get this resolved.
Hello,
I was experiencing the same. I tried to reset the tablet but it didn't change anything, no update showing up. I'm pretty sure Asus is rolling OTA updates region per region, and that europe is gonna come last.
Here is what you can do tho :
_ Go on http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_Prime_TF201/#download
_ Download the .29 firmware for your device ( Version V8.8.3.29(US) for the US version ). .33 is not available yet on the website
_ Unzip it and navigate through the files and get the zip that's inside. Don't unzip this one and just put it at the root of a micro SD card (didn't try at the root of the tablet so I don't know if it works).
_ Put the micro SD in the transformer prime and turn it off.
_ Boot it by pressing on power button and volume down until a text appears at the top of the screen and release. Don't follow the instruction (don't press volume up, just wait a few seconds)
_ Select the second option (NOT the factory reset !)
From here, I thought it would update from this mode, but it didn't on mine, it just rebooted the device in normal mode. When it booted, it said that it detected an update on the SD card, just press ok to install it (it will take a few minutes, be sure that you have more than 20% battery to be safe, or plug your cable).
I recommend to do this, .27 is really crappy (.29 is not much much better but still better...)
I'm in the US though. IT concerns me when I can't get an update OTA when ICS rolls out.
Having the same problem. I'm running ICS and haven't been able to update through two different firmware versions.. Everytime I try to update it reboots and displays an Android robot laying on its back with a caution sign. I tried a factory reset, and updating manually. Please help!

Hello.
Yesterday ATT finally rolled out the new update, but for me it freezes with screen where android with explanation mark in triangle.
A day before I did successfully install [PUDDING] International House of Pudding! (Unlock/root thread) Updated July 23 2011 v2.3.4 and also [Unlocked Only][Release]CWM Recovery Mod for Atrix 4G 2011-06-30 updated again!
After that I reverted to stock v1.2.6 and gradually upgraded to v1.8.3
On top of that the android recovery doesn't work either with vol down on reboot, same explanation mark in a triangle...
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Thank you.
PS. sorry

Hey [email protected],
There is no problem with your recovery menu. When you see the Android with the exclamation mark, you are in recovery mode. just touch the screen right above the Search button, which turns out to be the "Hide" function, and you'll see everything show up! Neat-o, right? =] Too bad CWM isn't touchscreen-capable =[
What probably happened for you is that you failed the pre-test. When they install an OTA update, it looks to make sure that certain apps are still there and makes sure no illegal mods are added to your Atrix. If you remove bloatware using Titanium or have root or you modded system files, you'll run into an error trying to update because you failed the pre-test. The best way around that problem AND the solution to upgrading without deleting anything is here. Use the Automated Update for PC Users, which will bypass this check. This was made for the sole purpose of those who don't want to lose their data, however, you'll be more likely to encounter strange bugs if you do upgrade this way. I suggest backing up your SD card before you do anything, perform this update, and then do a factory wipe. I know it's annoying because you have to re-input all of your info and stuff, but this is pretty much the only guaranteed way that about 95% of it will function as it should.
Hope that helped =D

When I touched the screen above the search button, I see the source of the error is "/system/app/swype.apk
so I imagine it is due to updating swype cuple of times and as far as I remember, in the first update i had to remove 2 system files to make it work.
This will help fix your issue.
1. Download the Motorola Drivers HERE if you haven't already, and install. (Link is to the 4.9.0 version, there is a newer one, but someone has said it has issues) If you would like to try the latest version, you can obtain them directly from Motorola Here.
2. Download RSDlite 5.3.1 HERE and install
3. Download the AT&T/Motorola 4.1.83 FULL SBF from this thread, unzip it and place it in a folder at C:\AtrixSBF\ (or something similar, short folder name, in the C:\ directory)
4. Plug your phone into a Rear USB port on your PC, using the OEM supplied USB cable. Set your USB option from the pull down Notification bar to None. ***For those that can't boot, power down, hold Volume Up while powering on. You should end up in Starting RSD protocol. Then continue. ***
5. Open RSDlite, wait until it recognizes you phone is attached.
6. Click on the "..." button and navigate to the SBF file you downloaded and select it.
7. Click the Start button and wait. It's good to stick around to make sure there are no errors, but it's going to take a good 20-40 minutes. DO NOT DISCONNECT anything until you see PASS next to the process you're running in the far right hand column.

This did it for me. Left the SD card update on my SD card and as soon as it rebooted to clean 183 it found the update and installed it!
Thanks
I did the OTA for .14 where upon my Prime immediately started an infinite bootloop. I tried re installing .14 with the manual sd card method, but it changed nothing. I'd like to try again with .15 but ASUS hasn't updated their page with .15, nor have they responded to my help request within 48 business hours. Does anyone have a link for .15 I can try? Or .11 for that matter so I can downgrade?
Edit: Just realized I posted to the wrong section. I am dumb. Sorry Mods! Go ahead and move it.
If your unlocked then Here you go.
I saw that. I'm not and don't plan to. 8\
Thanks though
I have the exact same problem, and seems like ASUS is not really worried about us ... what are they waiting to finally put online the complete firmware, it's been 4 days since the last OTA ...
Still no firmware and still no response on my support request. Time to take it to Twitter I guess. Got me help when my ISP was trying to screw me.

I downloaded the US version. How do you install it? it's just a zip file with no instructions or executables. There is no instructions listed on the support site either. Thanks.
Finally, my prime is back to life!
Method known as the EP201_SDUPDATE.zip method :
Download the firmware or your choice on the asus download page. It has to be the same version or an upgrade of your current version. You can't downgrade using this method.
Once downloaded, extract the zip. Inside, there's another file file.
Rename this one into EP201_SDUPDATE.zip and put it in the root of a microSD card.
Put the microSD card into the tf201.
As soon as your device boots (or reboots), hold the Volume Down key until some text shows up on the top left of the screen. Then, press Volume Up once within 5 seconds.
Some more text will be displayed. Wait a bit and ... there's three scenario here :
A) A droid with a blue diamond and a progress bar is showed on the screen for a while, then the device reboots and a long progress bar is upgrading or changing firmware zone. You Win.
B) The device reboots like nothing happened. It means you have a very bad reboot problem. I had it myself using .14. The device reboots so frequently that there's not enough time for it to load the rescue upgrade program. Solution : try again, repeat the steps to enter rescue mode. Eventually, you'll get it (took me 15 tries or so to get it)
C) You see the same thing as A) but then there's a dead droid with a red "!" symbol. It means your microSD card is not inside or the file you've put at the root of it is not valid (no downgrade!!)
So using this method, I was able to upgrade to .15 and my prime is back to life right, syncing all the programs right now, that's great
Yeah, I used that method too. Unfortunatly while trying to fix it the other day I wiped it. 8(
It's running, but now I have another problem. I have no wifi. >_<
Yep, that did the trick. Thanks!
Hello! I have scenario you don't have on your list. My TF201 just keeps repeating the ASUS screen over and over and when I try to go into recovery all I get is the GREEN Android with and GREEN Triangle and Exclamation mark. Have you heard of anyone with this type of symptom?

Have you put the right file at the root of your microSD? It's the zip file that is in the zip file you downloaded from ASUS.
Must be renamed EP201_SDUPDATE.zip
And you can't downgrade using this method. Use a different SKU or an upgrade.
It's supposed to work if done properly, give me more details on what you're trying to do (version and sku of firmware you have on tf201 and sku and version of firmware you're trying to use)

Thank you for your reply. Here is what I did:
My TF201 is a JP version and originally had HC on it. I read through XDA to find that I am able to use the ICS update from a different SKU so I updated to ICS US Version and all was great except that I could not use my Keyboard Dock since it a JP version Keyboard. Then I noticed we were able to put CWM on the TF201 so I went ahead and did that (I think this may be the reason why I can`t revive my prime.). I wanted to go back to HC so that I can use my Keyboard Dock again (I had already backed my Blob from the time it was still on HC JP Version). I googled the HC US Version and did the downgrade as posted on this site, all went well as it was showing the progress bar of the downgrade. But when I rebooted all I got was the ASUS Logo loop and when I try to access recovery I would see the Android Robot and a progress bar at the bottom then it would suddenly give me the green exclamation mark. I asked around here and was shown your thread so I gave it try using the latest ICS update for US version since that was the SKU of the HC I tried to downgrade to. I followed the instructions on this thread and to no avail will my Prime revive. I have tried about 10 times over and over but would still get the same Android Robot with Exclamation mark. Shall I keep trying your method or is there a possibility my Prime is bricked for good. Any assistance would be great and I am willing to try anything to get my Prime revived again, don`t want to go out buy a new one if I can revive my Prime.
Hmmm that's weird, maybe its because you unlocked your bootloader ... maybe ask to people who also did unlockthe bootloader ...

Yes it is very wierd. I get no errors like most people do. I think it is the bootloader that is causing the problem. I am going to try to run ADB logcat to see if anything pops out. If I can only pin point the problem I may be able to figure it out or .... not. I am going to ask around some more and keep trying your method. Thanks for trying to help me out! Greatly appreciated!!!
EDIT: I have tried everything to revive my Prime, I pretty much give up. I have asked ASUS for assistance in getting it repaired but have no reply from them yet.
I had a similar issue (stuck at the Eee Pad screen) and used this method to resolve it.
It is worth noting that the Micro SD Card must be formatted as FAT32, not FAT as suggested on some sites. I wasted a day or more on this using a FAT formatted card.
I have a 80 G9 (16GB) . It came with 3.2.79, I updated to 3.2.80 when it came out.
I successfully rooted 3.2.80 using information from this site.
This weekend I tried to update to the new 4.0.4. The update seemed to "hang", and I ended up forcing a power-off.
I subsequently used the recovery menu to do a full system format, and then tried to reinstall the 4.0.4 firmware - I've tried this a few times and each time it *seems* to be successful. After copying the AOS file to the device over USB, and selecting "ok", it says to leave the USB connected, a progress bar winds its way across the bottom of the screen, and then it reboots.
However, each time when it tries to boot, it just sits at the animated boot logo and never proceeds further. I've even tried letting it sit overnight - when I checked it in the morning after allowing it 6+ hours, it was STILL just sitting there rolling that bright bar across the "ARCHOS" logo..
I've tried to go back to 3.2.80, it gives an "update failed" on that every time I try.
I did the "remove developer edition" in the recovery menu, thinking perhaps the official firmware was balking on a 'rooted' device. Reformat, recopy AOS file, reboot, still no cigar..
I tried downloading the AOS file again, no luck..
Am I now the not-so-proud owner of a flat shiny brick? Is there some other procedure I can try? Has anyone else experienced this?
ANY advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
If anyone needs more details or other info just let me know.
1. Download update .aos again (just to be sure)
2. Boot to recovery
3. Select Reset Android option
4. Install update
I hope this helps

I've already done 2,3,4 several times. I managed to get a hold of someone at Archos that said that the file gets validated when it goes to update, and I'd get an error if it was corrupt. It doesnt give me an error there, it accepts the file.
As I'm currently on a slow hotel Internet connection, does anyone have an md5sum or sha1sum of their ICS .aos file I can use to validate mine against? (Annoying that Archos doesnt include a hash on their site)
Update .aos file is digitally signed (this also includes checksums of contents). If signature check fails recovery will not flash it.
My guess is that you'll have to give tablet to service unfortunately

In case anyone cares, I did in fact end up sending it back, and they sent me a replacement.
The replacement had ICS on it, and has in fact since OTA's another update without any problem.

I cant believe you got through to support. I have been trying for the best part of 3 months and got no reply. I am new to XDA since I recently got a HTC Sensation. Saw that we have this section here for Archos G9s. Got my ''broken'' one out of storage and rooted and flashed it with a custom ROM. And it works again. Surprised since I had the exact same issue you got but I was not rooted when updating.
Hello,
i rly need help now i messed this up.
Short story: I made some stuff which was logical to me but now i dont now further
I cant update to jelly bean.
My build number says now i have US Version Firmware, but my bootloader (when entering update screen) says it is WW.
So i tried Build.props from both devices to get the manual update working, all time saying my build.prop doesnt match!
With the released download updates for the prime i both tried the US- and WW Version of it just in case (which is pretty dumb i know, but nothing is working...)
In the microSD card he recognizes the US Version but after 10 seconds of waiting in the updatescreen i get the red triangle
If i switch to the WW Version he doesnt recognize it.
The Manual update, which i tried before, gave me build.prop errors which i tried to switch to differenz version, nothing working.
trying liveupdate i only get only no update available. On my first try i got the chance to download to 98% but then it failed. I tried reset and stuff but i got only no update again .
Plz help,
thanks in advance!!!!!!!! )
(Btw i read every thread about this problem i think.
I am actually a Newbie to Linux & Android stuff...
I am from India & since a Month, My Phone SGS3(Current Version is 4.1.2) kept saying there's an OTA Update of 4.3 & I kept Postoning it till today...I have downloaded the Update, but I kept postponing it...
But, just today, I decided to do the OTA Update...
1) Phone had 37%-of-Battery when I started the Update...And ALSO I connected to the Power Source before starting the UPDATE & made sure the Phone was charging...
2) Exactly at 84% of the UPDATE (it was just around 2-Minutes after starting of the Update, so that means the 30%-odd Charging left is not a Problem I am sure), PHONE went BLANK & it did not Restart (or) do anything even after I waited for around 30-Minutes...It is Just SIMPLY-BLANK...
3) Now, when I disconnect & connect the Charger, there is no Indication of Charging also...
4) Now, When I Hold the POWER-button till the Samsung LOGO comes, it just goes BLANK again...Phone does not Load into the OS...
5) Now, KIES also not detecting the Phone...Also, I Re-installed Kies, but in vain...(Actually, many a times, KIES would not work for me, so I always used Phone Explorer to Backup the Data...I hardly use/used KIES)

Yes, I can go into Download MODE...
Make sure your firmware matches your phone. Flash via odin, factory reset, flash via odin again.
