[Q] SEEEEERRRRIOUS problem when updating to 4.3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am actually a Newbie to Linux & Android stuff...
I am from India & since a Month, My Phone SGS3(Current Version is 4.1.2) kept saying there's an OTA Update of 4.3 & I kept Postoning it till today...I have downloaded the Update, but I kept postponing it...
But, just today, I decided to do the OTA Update...
1) Phone had 37%-of-Battery when I started the Update...And ALSO I connected to the Power Source before starting the UPDATE & made sure the Phone was charging...
2) Exactly at 84% of the UPDATE (it was just around 2-Minutes after starting of the Update, so that means the 30%-odd Charging left is not a Problem I am sure), PHONE went BLANK & it did not Restart (or) do anything even after I waited for around 30-Minutes...It is Just SIMPLY-BLANK...
3) Now, when I disconnect & connect the Charger, there is no Indication of Charging also...
4) Now, When I Hold the POWER-button till the Samsung LOGO comes, it just goes BLANK again...Phone does not Load into the OS...
5) Now, KIES also not detecting the Phone...Also, I Re-installed Kies, but in vain...(Actually, many a times, KIES would not work for me, so I always used Phone Explorer to Backup the Data...I hardly use/used KIES)
Plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help somebody...
Plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Thanx in Advance

Yes, I can go into Download MODE...

Make sure your firmware matches your phone. Flash via odin, factory reset, flash via odin again.

[Q] Error occurred while upgrading 2.3.4 using Kies...

I was upgrading my Galaxy Ace from S5830DDKQ5 ## to S5830DDKQ6 ## but suddenly an error occurred while the firmware was being downloaded on Kies..
And suddenly a pop-up window appeared for Emergency Firmware Recovery... I selected it, and the recovery was carried out.. and when when i checked the version on my phone it was showing DDKQ6(latest version in India)..
I'm in a doubt how could the emergency recovery updated my phone to the latest version and that too it took just 2-3 minutes only(while it was taking around 30-40 mins when i was doing the regular updgrade)..
So, Is my phone completely upgraded to DDKQ6... Or is it just an improper upgrade with many of the files and features missing???
You know what, Odin flashes the phone in 2 and a half minutes.
you are lucky it doesnt take 30-40 minutes. if it is then your phone might be bricked
So, is it sure that a complete DDKQ6 package has been installed successfully..?? Cos i'm doubtful if the whole package was properly downloaded or not??
But don't you think if the firmware hadn't been downloaded fully then it shouldn't have completed the upgradation successfully ??
spare the hassle and headache, use odin instead of stupid kies. agree with jun hong, ur lucky enough it doesnt bricked ur device
So if the Current version of the android is shown as the latest version in my phone then it is sure that the phone has been upgraded successfully ?? And i shouldn't worry that the phone will not malfunction ??
Also i wanna ask - Are these Kies updates an Add-on updates or the complete Firmware gets downloaded and replaced??
that was the cause of still pursuing the update via kies..hehe..
odin was a friend of mine..^^
So what should i do... Is my phone perfectly right to be used ?? Or should i reinstall the firmware using Odin...??

I'd say go with Odin just to make sure.

[Q] Updating Firmware failed.

Hi guys, not entirely sure if this is in the correct place but I believe it is, sorry if it is not.
Today i plugged my Samsung S2 into the laptop and Kies proceeded to connect and everything seemed fine. I then saw that there was a firmware update, I then proceeded to download and try to install it, this failed some how and it then tried to do an emergency recovery which also failed. So i turned the phone on and off again and the screen that appeared was a phone..warning triangle...computer.
I tried plugging it back up but Kies was not connecting with it anymore, and everything i have search about it talks about something called "Odin" and rooting, neither of which i have tried or read about in any great depth.
I contemplated going up to the local shop and seeing if they could do anything although i think they would be just as good as me.
Before today i hadn't updated any firmware at all since getting the phone in January, i have just been using it straight out the box. So my question is, can i fix it? And how would i go about fixing it?
Im am in the UK and on the O2 network if that is any use?

Can you try turning the phone off, then simultaneously press the Down Volume Key + Home Button + Power Button, keeping same depressed for about 10 seconds to see if the phone will boot and enter Download mode?
If it does, then you may be able to use ODIN as per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 to properly reload an image.
Better send it to your near Samsung service center to have it replaced if it still under warranty.
if download mode works then jus flash stock rom via odin...an kies dosnt update the device if the space on main drive(ex--c drive )dosnt hav enough space i think around 30 or 60gb is required...an if u wan to update via kies only then flash old stock rom an connect to kies hope all goes well...if none work then try the jig (search on forums)well i made my own jig tht jus pushs the phone to dounload mode........cheeeeerz

[Q] uk s3 not booting after latest update

hi,
i have an unrooted uk sgs3 on orange.
last night i found an update come thru on my phone which i delayed until i checked it out & backed up all my stuff including an android note pad (which i keep a few things on for work).
anyway my daughter was playing about with my phone & pressed the update, which in turn just about killed my phone ( all it does now is stays on the samsung screen).
ive tried taking the battery out for ages, fully charging it & going into the v+, home, power screen but nothing seems to work.
is there any way to reload the original firmware without losing all the aps etc.
if so or even if there isn't could anyone help me find how to get it back working.
thanks.

[Q] Unrooted, stock and soft-bricked(??) after official OTA update - is there a way?

hi,
For a day now I've been trying to figure out the way around my problem and I couldn't. But I'm just a beginner, I hope you guys can help.
short version: After official OTA update my stock, unrooted GT-I9300 boots only until one of the logo screens. I want badly to keep apps data, especially sms'es and voice recorder files. Downloading the update via KIES in download mode repeats update procedure but then again the boot ends on samsung logo screen (the one with just 'samsung' letters if that matters).
longer version: I've been using stock ROM forever and lived happily with stock ROM on Android 4.3 (except for laaags) Yesterday I went to check if an update is available - it was, so I downloaded it. It was all fine, I got to 'optimizing app 222/222' screen then the phone rebooted. It went through GT-I9300 screen, carrier screen, and in the end it stuck on pulsing LED and letters on the screen: 'SAMSUNG'. And now it happens each time I turn the phone on. I can still go to download mode easily and to recovery mode too.
I've reinstalled the update used KIES (2.6.3.14044_14) with the phone in download mode but that gets me to the same place (optimizes all 222 aps, reboots and hangs up at the same sceen).
Is there a way to have this fixed while keeping apps data?
this thread gives me hope there is, since there are 'NO WIPE' files, but sadly this one is only for US Verizon, not international..
(as a newb I can't post links but it's there) - s3forums site, thread galaxy-s3-hacking-mods/3292-guide-unbrick-restore-your-galaxy-s3-back-100-stock
my device:
Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300 (International), carrier - Orange Poland
Android 4.3, no root, Stock ROM
There is a good chance you only need to factory reset the phone but in that you will lose your data. You can try odin and flashing the latest stock rom for your phone (orange poland). Do not flash any other carrier, do not do anything with a pit file. Do not attempt to go back to the old firmware unless it was an earlier 4.3.
Get your carrier update from samsung updates and a copy of odin.
Put your phone in download mode via vol down +home +power and then connect it to the pc on a usb cable
Open odin, click "ap" or "pda" (same button, different versions) and select your poland orange 4.3 rom and then click "start".
Wait until the phone fully reboots and odin says "pass". Disconnect the phone.
This shouldn't wipe data but if this doesn't work then you have to bite the bullet and factory reset.

thanks. I tried various firmwares - branded and non-branded, current and a previous one (but also 4.3) - but I still got locked on the same screen. After factory reset it stayed on the very same screen for a minute, but then it came back to life.

S3 Complete OS reinstall

Hello androiders,
Recently my friend drowned his S6 and told me that he needs a spare phone. He has one, but it's messed up he said. So as a good friend I took that phone home and it appears to be Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 international model for baltic countries. The phone was always kept factory set and never rooted or tweaked in any other way. I am also a really early begginner in this android business, so I am not completely sure what I did.
At first I thought, well, no problem I'm just gonna connect it to Kies and do an emergency recovery. But no, Kies downloads the files all right, but hangs on 0% when installing, also the phone doesn't show any progress bar in download mode. So I abandoned the Kies idea.
Then I said ok, let's try Odin. Got the ROM from Sammobile, checked the tutorials and tried flashing. It went okay for about 80% and then said "FAIL!". After browsing through the abbyss of Google I found that you have to extract the missing.img file and reformat it o .tar, then flash it again. Did that and it semi worked, it started booting! BUT nothing lasts forever, the phone started showing error messages in red and it looks like the phone cannot read the data flashed into it.
So, people, I am asking for your help. I think I need to delete every single crumb of information from the phone and write everything manually in it. Or don't I?
