Bypass Exchange Security - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I am desperatly trying to bypass the security policy of our exchange-server. I already tried the following methods:
- froyomailupdate.zip (does not accept apk file)
- Several email.apk found in the WWW (crashed)
- Installed AOSP email.apk (crashed)
Is there any other thing I can do? Attached you can find my Email.apk.
Currently I am using a stocked rooted T-Mobile Rom: BOKK1 V2.3.5
*EDIT: also tried this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117452&highlight=email+security
It worked somehow. But the phone became extremly laggy/unusable. Might have to do with the calendar/mail collision?!

Enhanced email works.

Yeah but thats not a real solution - just a work-around.
I would prefer using the system's mail-client.

Well, it's real enough...
Enhanced Email is built on the stock email client of Android but with more options. It can easily replace stock email...
But if you prefer a patched version of stock email, that's your choice
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775007&page=29
Push this in system/app replacing the stock one, has worked on my corporate exchange..

I already tried that patched version. But after replacing it with the stock one and after rebooting, it just crashes.
Is this the correct 2.3.5 one?
*EDIT: ok, the email.apk works fine. I had to delete the old Email.apk AND Email.odex
Thank you very much

Hi,
I just flashed the new simply honey rc1 that eb just uploaded tonight & I seem to be missing polaris office and the sgs 2 apps. I thought I flashed the full version correctly but the kernel says its from june, is that a possible problem?
Well, I did install the polaris-office.apk that was in the thread but it pretty much just force closes.
Any help would be much appreciated!

try reflash, if that doesnt work just extract the apps your want from system/app in the downloaded zip and install them on push them to system/app on the phone
and the kernel's from june because it still the JVP kernel, still works for JVR but there hasnt been a JVR kernel made but i think people are working on 1
edit: just downloaded 5.0rc1 and polaris office isnt in the zip, so he forgot it or chose not to put it in
View attachment PolarisOffice.apk thats from 4.0, should still work though

So I reflashed from recovery after doing a wipe and I still only have 2 pages of apps. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Well, I'll try to just install each of them manually, hopefully polaris works. Thanks again.
Has anybody been able to get polaris working on the RC1? I also took the apk from the 5.0 beta 3 and it still force closes. I also tried to fix permissions after install based on some suggestions on other threads. Any ideas?
Polaris also has a lib file. I'll be posting a small package that includes Polaris and a couple other apps I forgot. Probably by 930 eastern time.

You are trying to use stock browser of xoom one on your galaxy tab?
What android version is running on your galaxy tab?
yes. I am using task's "kiss my face"-p7510jkkj1. This rom is fantastic, it do not have video playback issues like newer US version does. However it keeps everything unchanged as what they are in original rom. As I recall, the xoom browser(3.2.2) should be smoother, that's why it has been used as a replacement in some custom roms(taskgalaxy, or overcome). I took the browser from those roms and tried to replace it by myself but no luck. Just wonder if there is anything else I need to do besides the method I mentioned in OP.
I think I found the solution:
Besides the process described in OP, I need to delete the browser related files in /data/data/, as well as the one in dalvick-cache. p.s. 3.3.2 browser is indeed much smoother .

[Q] Long Sms converts to mms, disable?

Hello guys, i am experiancing a problem with my s2, when i send a long sms with the stock app, it automatically converts to a mms which then charges me. I was wondering if there is a fix or mod for this?
I have tried searching but replies involve using a 3rd party sms app which i prefer not to.
I am currently rooted, on stock ICS 4.0.4 with Siyaah Kernal 4.1.5. Thanks
You didn't search very hard did you?
Admittedly you'd need to move to a deodexed rom.

You don't need to move to a deodexed ROM to use a deodexed apk file.
If you're on an odexed ROM, all you have to do is:
1. back up the current .apk and .odex files for whatever app you're replacing - in this case, mms.apk and mms.odex (unnecessary, but highly recommended)
2. replace the existing .apk file
3. delete the existing .odex file
Edit: forgot 4. Reboot. I think this will also cause you to lose all your existing messages though.
Well I've learnt something! Thanks.
I assume existing messages could be replace with Titanium back up?

I checked the thread in the first link, and theres various mms.apks for various roms etc. I am on stock ics 4.0.4, which one will be ideal for me then? thanks

Are you referring to the link that Ben81 posted above? I only see one Mms.apk in that thread.
However, usually the rule of thumb is it is best to use a system app apk that most closely corresponds with your current build of Android to ensure maximum compatibility.
EDIT to add: I just noticed you said you're on stock ICS 4.0.4. That mms.apk in the link from Ben81 was tested on VillianRom 1.1, which is based on XWKE7 - which is Gingerbread. I would NOT try to use it if I were you.
EDIT 2: Ah, I see there are mms.apk files sprinkled throughout the thread, instead of all being compiled into post 1. What I said above regarding compatibility still stands. Look for the version that most closely matches your Android build version.

I think maybe I wasn't clear.
Forget Gmail, I didn't mention that or icons.
For exchange email to work you need 1 of these 2 apks:
Email.apk
Email2.apk
AND 1 of these 2 apks
Exchange.apk
Exchange2.apk
However, if you have BOTH:
Email.apk
Email2.apk
Then it wont work.
Check in /system/app with a file explorer that has root permissions

Slimbeam, when you go Flash the AIO Aroma, you have to specifically select "Exchange". Working fine on Slim for me.
No Exchange
Same problem here. Running Omega v46 with 4.2.2. Does not sync with Exchange. Already done a factory wipe twice.

[Q] Stock samsung email.apk on custom ROM 4.4.2

Hello everyone,
I'm new on the forum, i just started using my i9100 with custom ROMs, i tried CM10 once but i didn't like it so i went back to stock JB.
Now when i saw that KitKat was available i just said "why don't i give it a try", so i installed omniROM 4.4.2. So far so good, but what i really miss from the stock samsung ROM is the peak/off-peak schedule for default email application.
I use my corporate email account with the default email app (company policy), but in omniROM there is no schedule option like in the latest stock rom for my phone.
So i thought, well lets look for another stock rom for a samsung phone that has 4.4.2 and take the Email.apk and move it to mine. So i downloaded the stock S4 ROM 4.4.2 and i see that there is no Email.apk but SecEmail.apk, i tried to use that file but it doesn't work (copied on recovery mode), i know that i'm doing it right because i tried before with other versions trying to fix that exchange "cannot connect" bug of kitkat.
So my question is this: is there a way to get "peak/off-peak schedule" feature? where i can get the Email.apk that will do that? or what is different with that secEmail.apk that it doesn't work?
Thanks, and sorry if someone asked this before, i searched everywere but didn't find an answer, i don't know why people doesn't ask "where that feature go? or how can i get it back in non stock roms", i find it one of the most useful features, in fact the first time i went back to stock from CM10, that was the reason why.

I tried this (installed via CWM on CM11), no luck.I found SecEmail.apk and SecExchange.apk in /system/app but Email do not appear in app tray. Should I remove standard CM Email.apk and Exchange2.apk ?

y#eah thre are many apps on playstore for email try them
^+1....the above is good advice, there are loads of email apps on playstore......
But as for installing the stock email app on a CM rom.....it ain't ever gonna work.......
This is because the stock email app is a 'system' app, and sysrem apps need the touchwiz framework to function. This framework is (obviously) excluded from CM roms........
My wife says I'm a phone geek....She's probably right

Indeed but not so many that correctly works in corporate environment (M$ Exchange). In fact Samsung did quite good job extending his Email.apk with some features that others miss like:
- S/MIME support
- setup of Exchange auto responder (server side)
- folders browser
etc.
BTW can you advice one with such features ?
@bhavstech
so, your first answer gave me point worth to check ...
