Galaxy s2 odin error - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to flash a firmware via odin and it stucks to factoryfs.img.now i cant open my phone. When im flashing every firmware va odin it stucks at factoryfs.img.i tried to wipe everything from the stock recovery and retry but i had no success.when im flashing kernels i have no error.so i was wondering if i could flash cf-root and then when i will be into recovery push files via adb to internal sdcard.is this possible?if yes tell me how.If not tell me other ways to unbrick my device

Which firmware did you try? Try to flash a stock firmware. Go here and pick up the latest ROM and follow the instructions it is very well explained

Good luck

i flashed a stock firmware.i tried this and i had no result.if you can answer this i told about cwm and adb i would be very happy

try another cable.
I had similar problem because of a poor cable ordered from e-bay.
even if you are using the stock cable, try another one as it might be damaged.

gokhan thanks for your help but it didn't work.if i format the /system partition will i be able to get into download mode?

I don't see how you could get Odin to recognise your phone in order to format the system partition if you weren't able to get into download mode.
So I guess I'll play Captain Obvious...Can you get into download mode ?
If not, does Odin recognise the phone when you hook the phone up to a PC via a USB cable ? (a long shot I know but I'm trying to think of anything that might work here).

You really need to start giving more information.
Excactly what rom did you tried to flash? And yes, you can just flash CF-Root and start flashing from recovery. If it is possible to push the files true adb, I don't know. But you will have adb for sure in recovery.
And why are you flashing? It looks like you have really no idea what you are doing.

the problem is solved.i flashed a cwm 9 rom via odin and now im ok.now im flashing chechrom.i had checkrom and i undervolted too much.the phone closed but accidenatly i had ticked the set on bot button.my external sd is broken and i didnt have a checkrom backp into my internal sdcard.so i decided to flash an official firmware and then flash again checkrom.this is the story but now my problem is solved so you can lock the thread.thank you all

[Q] stuck without an OS

hello
i rooted the phone and installed recovery , downloaded custom rom and placed it by mistake on the EXTERNAL SD instead of the internal , and i formatted the OS (without making a backup) , and then i found out that CWM doesn't support external SD on the GS2 .. so now i'm stuck without a OS..
i googled a lot and i found only 1 topic about the same problem , and the solution there was to flash stock using odin , so i looked for the stock rom that i had (Pelephone Israel) and i'm downloading it, and its taking like forever to be completed ..
my question (which i couldn't find an answer to anywhere) whats the difference between flashing a rom via CMW and Odin ? can i just flash it from Odin instead of waiting another hour or 2 till the download is done and then flash it , reroot and flash recovery then flash custom rom ?
another question, when flashing a custom rom vua CWM , does it change the kernel ? (while Odin doesn't ?)
i'm a little confused here and i would appreciate any help (by the way the GS2 is my fiend's and its the first time i try flashing one)
Flashing via odin: You can only use tar files, and it boosts your custom binary count.
Flashing via CWM: It uses zip files, which is the most popular format for most roms. And it doesn't boot your custom binary counter. It's also harder to mess up flashing.
Pretty sure that's right. Just use CWM.
Edit: CWM only changes the kernel if the kernel is within the rom's zip.

thanks for the fast reply
do you confirm that flashing stock via Odin will solve my problem ? any worries of a brick there doing that?
what happens if i flash (via Odin) a firmware that uses a different kirnel from the 1 installed?
thanks again
as long as u're following the instructions right i'm sure you'll be fine..
if you are flashing via odin, PDA file is the ROM which usually includes a kernel.

the thing is that there are no instructions .. someone told the OP to flash original firmware via Odin and thats all .. i couldn't find any information anywhere thats why i got confused and i'm asking here ..
what i'm downloading is the exact original firmware i had before .. i have CWM installed but apparently its useless in my case , and i can enter download mode ..
what i'm planning to do is flash the firmware i'm downloading via Odin (its either 1 PDA file or 3 different files , thats not the case here ..) , and all i need is a confirmation that i'm safe ..
thanks

You can safely update the official firmware using odin and you won't bork anything by that method. I hope you have enabled the USB debugging mode in your mobile or else odin might not recognize the phone.

i9100 stuck at Samsung Galaxy SII logo

Hi all
I have recived a I9100 from a friend and I am trying to fix it for her... It went dead after she flashed a costum rom to her device...
Recovery does not work either
What I have tried
flashing a stock rom
flashing a kernel
flashing bootloader
flashing unbrick file using ASB box
flashing the handset with SPT box
flashing .pit
repartion
---------------------------------
SPT box flashing log
Detect Phone Connect ...
Connect Phone OK.

Sending Sbl Data ...
Sending Param Data ...
Sending zImage Data ...
Sending Factoryfs Data ...

Sending Cache Data ...
Sending Hidden Data ...
Please Wait Reboot Phone ...

Total Time: 146.4 s
My guess is that it is NAND rw problem, and I will have to wait for my riff box service cables to arrive, so I can jtag it back to life (I have the box, they forgot to ship the service cables)
Any ideas is appriciated
Best regards
You actually see the logo? Can you get into Download mode? Not recovery.
If not you either need to Jtag or she has somehow triggered the super brick bug. Then the device can't even be repaired with the RIFF box.

Yup, it is stuck at the Samsung GSII logo...
I can easily get into Download mode... But I have no recovery... Im thinking that it is a eMMC fault, I am trying to find a place to buy the eMMC and get it replaced/reballed
Well if you can get into Download mode, I'd suggest you try flashing the CM9 resurrection edition. It's the only "custom Rom installation package" I know that comes with everything to start from every base.
If it's really a broken emmc chip, you better have the knowledge to replace it yourself (or know someone who has). It's neither an easy nor cheap procedure.

I apparently only found the CWM files, instead of the tar, that's why I was talking about CWM... but it is still dead...
Okay, you must have misunderstood me... I know how to use Odin, I know how to recover from a Soft brick, I know how to recover from hardbricks using JTAG... I am not a noob
I have all Samsung professional tools, riff, SPT, medusa, asb etc...

Hehe, it is just okay...
When I flashed the CM9 to it, I got the kernel panic uploade mode... So my guess is still NAND/eMMC fault...
Strange one. It seems like a hardware fault. Good luck with repairing that. Usually a motherboard replacement would be the way to go.
Can you check if you're able to get into stock recovery after flashing a stock ROM?
I have had similar problems on both SGS2 and on Gtab 8.9 after performing factory reset in latest CWM. The only solution was flashing a stock ROM and then factory reset from stock recovery (and then flashing whatever ROM I wanted to flash in the first place)
Could be worth trying.

Had the same problem, stuck in logo. I tried flashing stock ROM, but it didn't save my situation. So I tried flashing CM9 Resurrection and managed to get into recovery mode. Then I reflashed the custom ROM I had earlier on and everything went up again. Thanks a lot.
same issue
I am also stuck at Samsung logo, i9100
I can get into recovery. I installed stock many times - no help. (I9100XWMS1_I9100XXMS4_I9100NEELS1_HOME.tar.md5)
I was missing my IMEI so I guess it is the efs folder fault.
I tried to fix the efs with backups, I have zipped EFS, but I can not go to system and replace the files.
If you have any ideas - please share it with me!
I also had a nandroid backup - no help as well.
my sgs2 is softbricked and I have download AND recovery mode, and still can't fix it ;(

[Q] GT-i9100 (SGS2) Stuck at reboot after formating

My SGS2 stucks at the reboot logo, SGS2 GT-i9100 >> Logo >> repeating.
I wanted to format my phone cause it was almost full, so i format it, but it doesnt work and i got the same space free.
So i tried to do it manually in Recovery Mode, i formated some stuff, but i formated something like: Format Pre-Load (or something like this) and some more stuff, if im right that was only data/cache etc, and system to.
But now my phone wont reboot....
Help!!!
Phone connects to Odin only, i tried to flash the file i use to rooted my phone again, but i get: FAILED.
Srry for bad English....
Hey guys,
I have a similar problem after attempting a root on my Galasxy i9001T.
I used Odin following the instructions on this thread,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414, I've gotten as far as using Odin 1.83, using the GT-I9100T_DUKF2_original.tar as my insure kernel. Odin gave me the green light "OK" and I waited for my phone to boot upt.
My phone gets far as the initial "Samsung SII GT-I9100T" and stays there, there was no yellow triangle, which expected from the instructions. The phone recharges and is able to go into recovery mode, but is Odin is having trouble communicating to the phone via USB, it won't establish a connection, so I have a strange feeling that I've bricked my phone and need help to fix the problem if possible.
My phone model and kernel are below, any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

You should not have formatted preload. Why didn't you just format the internal sd card?? Anyway now you will have to flash official firmware with odin. you can find so many guides on how to do that
...and to format your system wasn't the best idea also

You cleaned everything boy even the Android OS
You just formated your whole phone you deleted your android os. you have to use ODIN to flash rom download some official firmware of some custom rom or if you have cwm download the rom transfer the zip to sd card or internal on your phone and flash it from cwm. And remember if you want to clean up your phone completly Just use factory reset in setting and if you want to delete all files in your internal sd check delete all files. Never format SYSTEM and PRELOAD
Now he's got a clean device alright.
I can just put a custom rom on it?
Using Siyah kernel, Philz, CWM or another? Does this matter?
Otherwise is put a rom on my sdcard and i put my sd in my phone and i flash it.
I putted a rom on my sd, installed it in Recovery Mode and its working again, thx for the support.

[Q] Another way to unbrick my s5830i?

Please help me.
I have Jellyblast installed on my ace-i. Then I found another custom rom for ace-i called "Ace-I-Sure". I downloaded it. Before flashing the rom, I did a nandroid backup. After the backup, I flashed the ace-i-sure, then rebooted. Unfortunately, I was stuck on the boot screen (softbricked). So I booted to recovery mode and did a nandroid restore. Everything was back to normal and my phone was working again.
A few days later, I tried to flash the ace-i-sure again (yeah im stupid). I did a nandroid backup, then flashed. But, same result. It was softbricked again. Then i thought that this was no big deal, i will just do a nandroid restore. BUT, now I can't access the recovery mode! I can access download mode though, and I know that i can flash stock firmware using Odin. BUT, my USB/Charger "mouth" (you already know what i mean, the place where you insert the usb connector/charger, at the top of the device) is not working! It can't detect my charger and USB connector. I charge through a universal charger, where I just remove the battery and insert it into said charger. (Before any of this softbricking happened, my uncle went to a repair shop to repair the USB/Charger "mouth" but the people their said that the only solution was a universal charger.) Anyway, using odin or any other unbrick programs means I need to connect my phone to a PC, which is unfortunately, impossible right now.
I need your help. Do you know any other way of unbricking my device? What should I do?

See if you get working with recovery then try these
1.search over xda for MultiFormator tool
2.Boot into recovery flash cwm then flash these tool
3.Now Aroma will startup then choose RFS
4.Now flash your backup it will boot up .
But if not then you need to give it in Samsung's service center they will repair it .
Without download mode you can't get to flash Stock Rom via Odin .
May try this,

I really don't know what you mean by "doesn't fit", do you mean installation failed in recovery? Or what?
Have you repartitioned your phone to higher system partition with 45mb preload? , if you did that, then you will have to repartition again to 512mb preload to be able to flash stock rom with odin, please provide more info about your problem..
And how changes to the 512?
It must give specific kernel? It seems to me Send link

To change preload partition to 512mb, you need to use a pit that does that, like using the stock pit or XGB_XGB_512mb pit, flash this recovery with one of them using Odin, and reboot to recovery and do the following :
-Wipe data
-Wipe cache
-Go to "advanced" and wipe Dalvik cache
-Go back and then go to "mount" and format system and format internal sdcard using (default)
Then remove the battery and put it back and reboot to download mode and flash the stock rom alone.
Choose any pit you want from the zip in attachment.
You can not use the pit file does not register until Odin Samsung Galaxy S2 on the computer.
Me SG2 is displayed as Connected When you open Odin. It is simply unmounted
Therefore, if it can be changed to JB through recovery so tell me how

I still don't get what you want, you can easily repartition back no matter what android you're using, just boot into download mode and load the files on Odin and connect your phone and if the drivers is correctly installed, Odin should recognize your phone without any problems
Although the dam phone to download mode odin EQUIPMENT recognized. This does not appear there. Therefore, I ask whether it is possible to install JB differently using Odin

No you can't install stock rom without using Odin.
All i can tell you is to make sure that:
1- you are using a working Odin version, you should use Odin 3.07 or 3.09 or 3.10.6 for better compatibility.
2- Samsung USB drivers is installed correctly.
3- you're using a good USB cable like the original, because some cables doesn't work, also try connecting to different USB ports in your Computer.
If your phone is recognized by Odin and give you error when flashing then check your hardware, probably a corrupted motherboard or check if the firmware is right.
Thank you for your help. After much torment I recorded on the phone custom ROM based on Jelly Bean
Thanks. Although I am not solve the connection problem but it's jelly bean although adjusted
