How many times have you dropped your phone? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I was just curious.
I've dropped mine a small handful of times. thing is pretty resilient though. only cosmetic issues are some scratches around the camera lens.
How bout you guys?
*Note: Pictures are encouraged to show off any damage on the phone.*

Looks like my girlfriends atrix she dropped over the weekend, no good at all

I have dropped mine two times just today.. Good thing it is made of metal, it has a little scratch on the back and I have managed to dent the ring around the camera lens somehow.

just once with a hard case on it. case popped off and the phone was intact.
+1 for phone cases

Twice. My TPU case has held up well as you cant tell that Ive dropped my phone (no scrapes, scratches or chips). Best $2.99 I ever spent.

I bought one also for 2.99, the thing is one of the best cases I have purchased and for that price was a steal!

I use a knock off of an otter box that has a kick stand, works great for when my little girl decides to throw it when Mickey mouse goes off. So I drop mine atlease 2 - 3 times a day

Dropped mine 4 times. First time w/o a case and got a couple small scratches on the case. After that I quickly got a case and no damage since...more drops to come I am sure. Phone is pretty 'tough'...

The only time I dropped a phone was around 2 summers ago, it was an HTC Aria, screen got shattered, it had no cover and went face down on tarmac. It was the first time and the last one. I never use a cover on my phones, I do have them for when ever my daughter wants to use it. but the majority of the time is just naked.

Got mine on release day. I always roll "naked" with my phones. I hardly ever drop my phones. But this one is so damn light I keep forgetting it's in my lap when I jump out the car so I got some bezel dings. No biggie to me

I have two cases that I use.
Case mate with the kick stand I don't use often, but have dropped my phone at least 10 times on asphalt in that case, phone is perfect
Other is the sgp case that I use daily, it's beat up but phone is still perfect.
Dropped mine prob about 5 or 6 times since Ive had it from Day it launched. No scratches yet. Dropped it twice before i got a case
No drops, no scratches, no butter

This is THE first device I got a case for BEFORE I dropped it that resulted in cosmetic damage.
Dropped mine the first hour of ownership as I was handing it off to my mom so she can see it lol. No marks though! Case coming in the mail too
I barely touched it the first week i got it. I've never had a phone this nice, the closest I've came to a nice phone was a palm pre a year after release.
So now I've got a Rearth case and screen protector. I'm paranoid. i probably handle this phone with more care than my own kids.... ?

I actually ordered the Otterbox case for the international version with the recommendation that it does fit the AT&T version perfectly and that the upper noise cancellation mic doesn't give any grief because of the cover. We shall see what happens ...
I don't know why, but for such a flagship phone, the cases really aren't forthcoming.

Dropped my phone

Was getting out of the car today and had my phone sitting in my lap and it fell to the ground and landed on the bottom left corner and proceeded to tumble across the parking lot all the while managing to dodge some puddle of who knows what. I picked it up and to my amazement just a scratch on the outer corner no cracked screen. I am amazed at how sturdy this phone seems to be. That fall would have shattered my old iPhones screen. I love this freaking phone!

Yup, most of the drops that I've had are just minor nicks on the corner but thats about it! I can't even take a picture of it because you don't notice it until you get really close to it...

Mine fell about 5 feet onto a tile floor day after I put my Taurus bumper on. Not a scratch on the phone or bumper.
When I first got my i777, I was so scared to even touch it, it was my first nice phone other than a Palm Pre, but this is a super phone. Saw very little use until screen protector and case arrived.
It's my baby.
I did something similar fell onto parking lot bounced and hit the under carriage of my car then back to the ground again. No case or screen protector or anything. Lucky and the phone is indeed durable. It got a few scratches along the outer edges and corners but everything still works and the screen still looks great. Almost couldn't believe the screen didn't crack

Mine dropped while I was trying to put it in my pocket, the corner hit the ground then the screen. I expected the screen would have a lot of scratch but when I picked it up, the outer edge corner damaged and the screen have a very little scratch near the Samsung Logo. Never thought it only has those damage while my old captivate scratch by putting it with a business card in my pocket. I sold my S2 to my brother for 300 and get the international one but still miss the ATT S2. It was the best phone I've ever had, It has nothing that I could complain about. Will get another one next week because the International never gave me the same experience the ATT version did.
I will use my phone without a case. This thing has passed the thoughness test. It has fallen so many times I lost count.
It has a few scratches but the screen is in perfect condition even though it has fallen screen first a few times

A coworker of mine bought a brand new iphone.
It was a nasty rainy day when he picked it up. On the way back to work, he received a call (he had had the phone maybe 10 minutes).
He answered the call & layed the phone in his lap. When he pulled into work, he totally forgot the phone was in his lap & got out. The phone fell into a large puddle & he stepped on it smashing the screen all in one motion.

Rezound, rooted, loving it.
Don't your cars have cup-holders? I keep my phone there at all times.
What I have a bad habit of doing, is at night when I'm chillin on the couch I'll have my phone sitting on my lap on top of the blanket that is covering me. Then when get up to go to bed I'll forget about it and yank the blanket off. Usually the phone just falls on to the carpet, no big deal. On my old Incredible, I did this and it flew up in the air and flipped a bunch of times and landed flat on it's back on my padded ottoman/coffee table. My CM7 lockscreen came on when it landed. My wife looked at me and said "That was pretty good, now do it again". Lol
first day i had my rezound, i dropped it off the counter at my store..so like a 4 foot drop lol..landed on hardwood floor..but was fine. i was so mad at myself i just screamed the F bomb as it fell hahaha

This exact same story happened to me before too! You just need to replace the word "phone" with "pipe", and then replace "received a call" with "smoked bowl". =P

this thread has inspired me to get a case. my inc2 was cheap enough to just buy another in the off chance that something terrible happened, but not this puppy. besides, it's already massive. what's another couple millimeters on each side, right?

I strongly recommend the OtterBox case for whatever phone you have. I have one for this, my fascinate, the droid 2 i gave my mother-in-law. Besides the extended battery for long trips and when I wanna use the **** outta my phone, the defender was the best thing I got for it. Two days after I got the case I dropped my phone on concrete and kicked it while at work and watched it bounce across the room, woulda been dead without the case.
If it falls out of my truck, it's easily a 4' drop. I'm careful with my phones, never had a major drop with my Incredible, but Otterbox Commuter arriving tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

The damage not as bad as some of the other guys that have also dropped theirs, just scratch and bent the aluminum by the Mic hole on the bottom...

I haven't dropped my Evo LTE yet, well, because my preorder is in lala land.
But a month ago. I was canoeing at a lake, taking pictures with my OG Evo. I put the sucker in my lap! My fuggin lap! on a boat! Then while I got close to the dock, I stood up and all of sudden the world around me turned into the Matrix. The phone in slow motion went from my lap to about a three inch gap between the dock and boat. Helpless. Ofcourse it couldn't go into the boat or hit the dock. And it sunk like a dead hookers body.
Now I've had no (real) phone for a month, while I wait for my stupid preorder. Does that make you feel any better?

Not a drop so much as it flew out of my shirt pocket, skidded across a bar floor and smacked into a wall. Picked it up and not a single scratch at all. I was beyond shocked.

You people are clumsy. I haven't dropped mine yet and won't.
Ok I have over no joke over 40 different phones over a ten year span. I use to work at a retail store that sells sprint and since the HTC touch I been a Htc fan. Only once have I dropped my phone into a bucket of mop water that was freaky. I also buy good cases and have insurance. It's the be safe then sorry feeling. Ever since the windows PDA that I recall buying for 500 bucks have I did the insurance. Since then these phones are fragile.

Dropped mine yesterday.
I got out of the car and it slipped out of my hands onto the parking lot asphalt.
Just two small notches in the metal lining on the very left bottom corner of the phone is all the damage it took.
A friend said they bet my heart jumped. I said, "Nah, Its just a phone."
I'm lucky that there were no scratches on the back casings or glass.
I've had cell phones for a long time, and I stopped dropping them when I got my i860 Nextel. I've always had phones that are delicate, and I'm careful about my electronics. Unless they're marketed as such, THEY'RE NOT SHOCK RESISTANT, and they will break.
My philosophy, if you're a klutz in your day-to-day life, you should have a case.
I have an otterbox case and i hate it. So big and bulky. but it works until i find something slimmer.
It's not always about being clumsy, sometimes sh!t just happens. I live in NYC and at any moment someone can walk or run into my hand while im walking down the street and send my phone flying. Let us also not even bring up a crowded bar with drunken people who like to zig zag unpredictably.
Truth is, if my insurance was still $100 then i wouldnt even bother, but at a $200 deductible i feel forced to rock a case.

So I dropped my DNA on asphalt today

Am I the first one to do so? As I got out of my car the phone fell out of my jacket pocket and as I heard the thud and skitting sound I thought fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu just my luck... Well it seems the phone hit on the soft edge where the power button is and slid on the pavement. After wiping the pebbles off of it I've noticed a couple of small indentations in the soft plastic but they are barely noticeable and not a single scratch on the screen. I guess this phone is pretty durable.

Otterbox Commuter Series - Can't beat that!
Not sure I would say this phone is durable based on that one case, but I can certainly say you were lucky. Truth is any phone will break if it hits the ground at the right angle. Doesn't even have to be a large drop.
I would certainly felt like crap had I broken the phone already, but I don't really want to cover it up
I've dropped my DNA on a tile floor from chest height and couldn't find any marks anywhere to show where it hit. Lucky or durable, I don't know.
