usb2hdmi compatibility SK17 ??? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi,this accessory is compatible with the sk17 mini pro ???
usb2HDMI
is very good but i do not idea if is compatible with SK17...
regards

I dont think so. A smartphone does not have the ability to install drivers for external devices.

ok,think same, but, how nokia have this technology and Android not ???
nokia have this accessory with symbian 3,how is possible it ???
the nokia N8 by example with de "Usb on the go" conect this accessory like mass storage usb.
android will have some app for this ???
regards

Yea but it isnt a mass storage device now, is it?
You can buy it and try it, although i highly doubt that it will work.

I think the phone needs to support MHL if I remember correctly and I don't think that the sk17i supports it.
Edit: just checked the link and it also says MHL so forget my post.

I asked for TV-out some weeks ago, and today i saw this:
-> http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/analogix-slim-port-technology-lets-you-connect-your-phone-to-you/

Does any of these hdmi cables work with xperia mini???
Has anyone tried it?

To this kind of adapter work, the phone need the MHL circuit in your microUsb. The mhl cable from Accel have the analogix slim port technology.
I asked to Sony support and they say what the xperia mini and mini pro don't have mhl circuit, but if you have a friend with the cable and the device, try, is like think outside the box you know .

Nice.
Yeap I totally agree with you, support haven't knowledge enough for this case for example. And this is the reason about say "think outside the box". Well mhl in Brazil is something what exist like unicorns, only on web. The only one I've found is the official for Samsung Galaxy, but here a bit expensive (I mean 11% of all I earn per month) in comparison with other cables outside the country. I'm searching where I can test on the store or find someone what have.
Regards.

Welcome to a big club , let's stop this pain and face the truth . I'm waiting for your feedback and we can end this. But be happy, we can wait for xBounds .
EDIT: { I know what you need plug the power cable in the adapter, plug the hdmi in the adapter and tv, and the usb in the mobile, so you must wait something like 5 or 10 minutes or a lil more, in mhl mobiles the delay exists also. Try to see if something happens in Service Menu > HDMI }
EDIT2: { expectation... haha}
And the feedback is....

Tuned.

Yes, see my latest post on this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590353
And we wanna know if mhl is not here on mini.

That HDMI menu is on all phones, however we believe there is no way to make it work as hardware is not built for that.

Yes, I read somwehere that't a specifici circuitry on the USB port is required.
But it's weird that my service menu doesn't report "missing mhl circuit" just like it reports "missing temperature sensor" or "missing pressure sensor".

[REQ] T.V. Output

Alright everyone, I bought my wife the Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S today and so far I have to admit, it's a nice device. And there is a awesome feature that I would love to see added to the Nexus One, T.V. Output.... It's something I would personally use all the time, and it would be fun to show off.
I'm not a developer so I can't say if this is possible. But if someone has the ability and the time to make this happen on the Nexus One that would be Great!
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I was tweeting about this, this afternoon i'm going to test my Zen vision M output cable.
It seems samsung is 4 channel in the jack instead the nexus one only 2 so maybe impossible with this hardware.
usb ... ?
Edit: tested with a video from gallery and only the sound, i think we need an apps that send the video output maybe wait for the dump and port of the rom
edit2 :where is this display &sound, not on 2.2

how many output channel does the nexus one have?
Well I already used my same cable that work with my iPod 5th gen, and the Samsung, but no luck with the Nexus. The samsung actually has a setting to turn on the T.V. Output in the Display & Sound section of the settings menu. So it's not automatic.

Get an usb->DVI adapter and the usb-host driver from sven killig.
I actually would love that.. I use phone with TV radio in car for music I have the auxiliary to 3.5 Jack and plug it in works for muisc perfect even talking on phone in car through speakers fine... iPod has TV out too... maybe that helps

Maybe intersectRaven need to find us a kernel hack for this too ^^
We need function or something (aps ) to send signal on all different jack channel
this would really be interesting if you guys get it to work
On the Samsung the settings menu is set up different it looks like they may have modified it. Galaxy S is running 2.1 and unlike our nexus ones, the sound and display settings are combined. Perhaps our froyo has changed it but I don't think that's the case.
I'm with you though. Maybe once they port the Galaxy S we'll get the option opened up to us.

But this is not just in the rom this is in the kernel ?
I have no idea

If you have DLNA compliant device in your media center, your TV, HTPC, Xbox or ps3. if you have any one of them then you need this app. called TwonkyServer Mobile
I use twonky server on my home server and my Nexus to stream my media to my ps3.
Electrically all you need is the standard 4 pins for the TRRS connector (left/right/data/ground). The N1 recognises the data pin as an input, so if someone can manage to get it to output composite video on that pin then you may be in business.
If there isn't already something in the ROM/radio to support it, then writing a composite video encoder from scratch would be a helluva lot of work I would've thought though, so if it's not an easy hack (which I suspect it's not), then I dunno if anyone would want to step up for that one
If the physical connector lacks the pins you're fuxored. Analog video is a huge pita. You can no more get composite video out of a regular headphone jack than you could from a serial port. Apples vs. Oranges.
You want video out? Time for a new phone.

agreed but what about micro usb?
htc have a cable for tv out on the incredible: http://shop.htcpedia.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=875&compability_product=757
That's exactly why I stated this thread. To see if it's even a option.
What I'm hearing is that as long as the Nexus One has a 4 pin 3.5mm jack it's conceivable to suggest we can get video output. So long as we can get the right programming... Right?
So if the samsung galaxy s phones have the code and interface, and they're running Android 2.1. Would it then be possible to get the information we need from the file dump of one of these phone. Then use it on the Nexus One (assuming we have the right jack) and have video output on our far from out-dated phones?
And does anyone know where we can find this information?

it's most likely a feature of the software/rom but given that the phone's are somewhat similar i don't see why the nexus one couldn't be modded to do it.

Even easier with a Incredible Dump I'm sure. I see over in the Vibrant forum # wesgarner has released a dump for the Samsung, how hard would it be to make this work on the Nexus One? I really wish I knew how to cook but I'm just a noob. About the best I do is make my own metamorphs....lol

[Q] Possibiliti x10 HDMI?

Have any possibiliti to make hdmi for x10, from arc sources and implement via micro usb like in nokia? In service menu also have hdmi?
I am Zulea, past developer of unlocking tools. You know USB Smart, but now I am out.

you are talking like everything is possible with x10(like quadcore).not that i dont like to have HDMI,but its very very unlikly
(dont get me wrong brother)
Anyone know any dev to show him this?....
Every dev most likely already "thought" about this many times, but this is a dream, it could be possible to get somehow a video output using usb or even the phone connector, yes it would be possible, but that would be a very poor output, because they would have to remap somehow a software encoder inside the phone to redirect data using USB or phone connector and connected in the usb or phone would have to be an adapter that would again translate the information in some vga, A/V, RGB, or at max S-Video, nothing like HDMI could ever happen as there is no such hardware for this built inside x10.
Don't dream on this guys, this is not like something that you can build on drivers.
Here goes an example of things that may be developed in future for x10:
Mass storage like pen drive(connecting a pen drive in the phone directly)
Mouse, keyboard and other input stuf.
Further undervolt and overclocks.
Multitouch, real multitouch(no dual touch as it is now with axis issue)
This may be developed sooner, and only maybe...
HDMI is too far from possible, not impossible though, but yet they would have to find a hardware in the phone to use for that which i don't really know if there is such a thing in x10, but i doubt.
@ all dev...
Is it possible to use USB OTG...?? like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224676
Or
Live Dock support for x10??
any hope..
This would be amazing but highly unlikely. I just don't think the X10 has the necessary hardware to push HD video out of the USB controller. The only thing I would add is there is a HDMI section in the Service Menu. I don't know if that would help us but it's a place to start.
@xpaa thanks for the interesting link.
My wife's Samsung Infuse 4G came with the hdmi adapter and my first thought was, "How the heck would you get HDMI speed out of a USB anyway?"
i also try so many ways to share my videos and photos on TV via Hdmi out .. even i found some suitable cables for X10 which was selling for that aims. try to search vivaz audio video cable , it is working like output from audio jack , in vivaz it shows videos but in x10 only audio no video , but it is possible via Wi fi share photos and videos on TV
About Live Dock to regret it doesnt support X10 ( only neo , arc , arc s , pro ) as i know

[Help] Improve to 200mA USB host

Sorry for creating a new threat but I have searched on forum but there is no solution.
I have a USB keyboard ( a flexible USB keyboard) but it does not work on my archos 70 8G, I think it requires over 100mA. So I try some kernels made by Sibere but all kernels I found are for the 1.1 uruk droid, but my device is running 1.5.1
So any helps, thank so much
Sorry for my English
guy u are lazy!!!!
plz use the search function next time or at least read the last 2 pages of the relating tread (UD Dev Thread)
meanwhile try this and read his signature !!!
or consider updating to 1.6RC1 and use this.
Further questions in DEV Thread plz.
CLOSE PLZ
first of all, thank for ur respone. As I said before, I have searched I tried all the kernel of sibere and all were not work (some even did not boot). Because I really need it now, so I created a new threat. Is there any other methods? Please help me.
Ups thats something completely different to:
>So I try some kernels made by Sibere but all kernels I found are for the 1.1 uruk droid, but my device is running 1.5.1
This sounded more like you just didnt found any Kernel for 1.5.1. (or u tested some 1.1 Kernels at 1.5.1)
Im still not sure what exactly u did...
Anyway with the new information - if the device doesnt boot up u need a non-OC Kernel as your device doesnt seem to like the overclocking (mine doesnt either and wont boot up)
Im not sure if sibere released a non-OC Kernel with just his patches for 1.5.1 - you should contact him via pm.
Still this is UD related and belongs to the Dev Thread - as he realeases all Kernels there and even the "new one" u need will propably be released there.
Im sure u need it now - but if anyone creates threads over and over even there is one already we end up in a mess here...
As far as i know there is no other method atm as the maximum current is limited by the Kernel (and as far as i know just for the 70 series not for the 101)
1 last thing - are u sure its you Keyboard needing more then 100mA!?!?! A Keyboard shouldn't need more then 50-80 mA imho - just what I estimate. There is nothing wich would take that much current... its just a microcontroler with many "switches" and those dont really "take" current. Or is it a fully lighted keyboard like this?
Just HD's need more current as they got a permanent spinning engine inside,... and even most of those just need more then 100mA for the initial spin up and need less later.
An alternate solution is to use a powered USB hub between the archos and the keyboard. The keyboard will get its power from the power supply of the USB hub.
Here is my USB keyboard and USB adapter

I have tried all the kernel of sibere (1.1 and 1.5.1) but none works. The Sibere_Kernel_UD.zip kernel makes my device not booting and now I flash the Sibere_Kernel_UD_1.5.zip but I still can not use my USB keyboard. Is it necessary to activate any app or turn any function to use a external USB keyboard when connecting?
I have tried a 4GB USB and it work perfectly. Is there any wrong with my USB keyboard? (I still can use it with my laptop)
Sorry for my English.
i think its quite hard to help u if we have to pull out any information of u
1. now I see the keyboard but i still dont know if it has backlight/ what product it is...
2. "dont work" is a crappy definition of telling others about a problem
tell us
2.1 is there ANY reaction form the archos?
2.2 are the lights (numlock,..) of the keyboard on if u plug it in
2.3 plug the flexible keyboard in - open "terminal" - get superuser rights (type "su") - type "lsusb" (all of those without " ofc) - what is the output?
3 Did u try pluging in another keybaod (try your normal pc keyboard - if u have one) is it working?
As far as i know i just pluged in the reciever of my mediacenter-keyboard and mouse and keyboard were working instantly - but i got an 101... can tell anything about the host cable thing.
There is no any reaction from the archos and light from the keyboard (but a USB mouse has light but does not work too). I bought this keyboard in a promotion so I dont know what product it is.
I tried 2 USB mouses and 2 USB keyboards and all are not working.
This is the output of terminal:
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 227d:0797
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
That outputs are the same when connect with a USB mouse. And I try a USB storage and here I have
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 227d:0797
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 090c:1000 Feiya Technology Corp. Flash Drive

Y accoring to lsusb this might be the answer - but if he tested 2 mice 2 keyboards + this one and all dont work im not realy sure if the answer is that simple...
And still there should be ANY output on lsusb - shouldn't it !??!
Even if the kernel can't load a module/driver for the device the vendor codes should be listed... (k im no linux expert perhaps someone can correct me)
Especialy casue I thought todays USB keyboards all use the same method in registering as a default HID device?!?!
Anyway i still don't think its a current related problem - but hey cmon how unlucky someone can be owning 5 standard devices not being compatibe?
EDIT:
I just pluged in a device i NEVER expected my archos to have any modules for,... (a TELLSTICK - usb stick for controling light remotes) and even there lsusb shows me the PID/VID with "Multiple Vendors" as name - so the problem should really be something else... (k I got a 101 - might be a 70 problem only?)
If u really go buy another now - go to your local store - take your device with u and ask for testing it out! Or u might be disappointed again...
BTW: did u EVER try it our on archos stock firmare? - if not boot into it and try again plz - repeat the lsusb for all 5 devices and report if there is any output (just the last line is of interest the first 3 are the usbhosts + the camera perhaps)
Does the HD really work properly if plugged in? test it! DO you have any device woking properly with your cable?
EDIT 2:
Do some research yourself plz googeling for "archos host cable mouse" gave me several links to problems also for people with having problems with mice,... some menitoned about wrong soldered usb host cables also,...
Here its mentioned about a intelli mouse not working with 1 cable but woring with others,...
The problem seems to be more complicated tho - also it was mentioned about some devices just working with a usb hub between while others dont work with a hub in between - get a powered hub (ask a friend?) and test it out
good luck guy
HID is added to all my recent builds
Code:
Say Y here if you want full HID support to connect USB keyboards, |
| mice, joysticks, graphic tablets, or any other HID based devices |
| to your computer via USB,
But if your KB requires more than 400mA, there is no chance for it work straignt from the USB port.
All the greedy devices I have tried on my A70IT worked but they were only USB keys or wireless mouse controllers. I never tried a KB.
I don't have a A101 so I can't try on this device.
I got this KB occasionally so I did not made any testing. Maybe I will try another KB like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQTEeO2sj-g
That device is a Chinese one but I appreciate its KB case and it costs ~20USD.
I think it's time to close topic. Thank so much guys
well 1 last advice - as u will buy it via ebay propably - watch the rathings of the seller for your product - i recently was about to buy such one - but many ppl complained about: bad quality, the case not even fitting the device (power button got permanently pressed while it was in case), and several other things
good luck guy
UPDATE:
hey just searched for it again. seems some sellers have an updated version now - avoiding the power pressing - be sure to get one of those !
No, Im not going to buy it via ebay, because ebay is not supported in my country so It's a big disadvantage I guess. Im gonna buy it at a retail store so I can test it before purchasing. That KB case is the only one I can find near my region so maybe it is hopeless.
In addition, my A70IT usually appears black screen error and Im really mad because of it. I had install the SupperDim 1.52 but It seem to be the same. Maybe in a near future, I should sell my A70IT and think about another Android tablet.
PS: This is the one Im locking for http://fusiongarage.com/grid-10/features
Oh y i also have the blackscreen issue sometimes - but it seems better since I use superdim atm (even it didn't feel different in begin - but itsworking fine atm).
But im still searching the real reason for it - as i even had it with non-dimmed screen...
Anyway I hope we'll get it fixed soon - then im completely happy with my 101.
Hm the device looks nice (a bit win8ish casue of the grid view)- but also just 512 RAM
(its the main reason for me not to buy a gen9 atm - 265MB was to less for gen8 - and 512MB soon will be to less for gen9 i think)
The price seems quite "normal" like the gen9,...
But they just ship to germany atm as it seems (hey I could get one - but i dont have the money atm)
good luck with testing your keyboard...
Yes I love that device's design and it's strange-looking screen. I usually use my A70IT in study so 512 RAM is enough for me and the most important thing is the battery. I wonder how much mA the A70IT's battery is?

Thank for ur information. This Grid10 has 512RAM and 5800mA Battery and the price is not expensive. I will go and have a keyboard test on this Sunday, It everything does not go well, I will sell my A70IT. It is really annoying with the dark screen issue

How is hdmi out on the evo 3d

I have a evo 3d coming soon and I'm curious to know how the hdmi out works. I'm interested in playing n64 games (I'm assuming they'll run decently) on my tv with my wii classic controller. On the evo 4g it was unplayable even playing snes games from hdmi out. Is it smoother now and would 3d games be playable?
Well that's good news. lol by 3d i meant games that are not the side scroller type, I do have a 3dtv so if that's true then that's awesome.
Does the quality of the adapter matter? I'm thinking of just buying one off ebay for 10 bucks or so.
Not to hijack the thread or anything but what kind of a controller do you use for that kind of setup? I've got a nice little MSI adaptor but find without a controller, it's damned difficult to operate some games...
The old Chainpus bluetooth gamepad works great using bluez IME from the market. I've heard the Zeepad (?), Phonejoy, and Icontrolpad bluetooth controllers also work well.
I've only had the old Chainpus gamepad and it's a lot of fun for emulator TV out.

I use the classic controller plugged into the wiimote. Connected via bluetooth, works really well for emulators.

Well I can't say it works perfect, and I haven't tried it yet with any emulators....but this http://www.gamestop.com/android/accessories/tablet-wireless-bluetooth-controller/97838
works with sense roms...the problems I've had are that most games that are controllable with the gamepad seem to be mapped for portrait layout...meaning for example trying to use it with gtaIII ,the 3 o'clock direction is forward or straight...pressing actual up stick guides you left. I'm still on the fence whether I'll return it or open it up and see about switching the orientation of the thumb sticks. And also alot of games either won't use the gamepad input, or its just not configurable at all...you may be able to move around but the buttons don't respond. Like I said I have not tried an emulator yet and maybe you can do mapping which would make this controller sweet. Hopefully they release an app to run in sync with the controller or games get updated to allow for more configuration
HEY GUYS This is my first post to the site.. although am a longtime follower...

If you have a Frys store nearby, they have a micro usb MHL adapter (Accell) it works great and costs about $24
This is what I bought. Works fine. I'm just a little disappointed with the performance of the evo while using it, hoping its because I'm on the stock rom + kernel.

This is what I'm using.
This works perfect just make sure the kernel your using can output HDMI none of the anthrax kernels can do that

Yeah, that's the ACCELL MHL
Does Stock Roms support HDMI outputs?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Stock ROM rooted or not as long as the kernel supports it then yes...
I won a PhoneJoy and the controller is awesome.. works perfect with stock kernel phone with BlueIMZ.
In my experience.
1. Video is grainy, though my TV reports it as 1920x1080p, and it does not fill the whole screen. Their is half an inch of space left on all sides of TV.
2. I bought this to play audio. The quality is great. Sound is crisp clear but I have to keep screen awake and it drains battery out. It would be great to turn screen off.
PS:- I am using CleanROM Reborn 1 with stock kernel.

This cable works only on Nokia 5800.
There are no Android phones that support TV-out via 3.5mm jack. Some phones have HDMI port for this, but most don't.
Now, microUSB-HDMI adapter is known to work on some Androids, but LWW has not been tested. So we also do not know, if there is any app for it or not.
2nd way would be DLNA, but that only supports media files.
Thanks man

i still confused how to use DLNA?
I already tried the Samsung "Micro USB <-> HDMI" cable and it dindt work. But that cable it's a bit weird, you have to connect the charger to the cable. Maybe a generic "Micro USB <-> HDMI" cable works

You don't connect the charger to the adapter.
I am not sure, if Xperia's support TV-out from microUSB. If not, then likely will not work.
For DLNA, you need the original file from stock ROM.

In Xperia Mini st15a, DLNA can be used through an app what initiate an server what give access for media content like videos and photos, and if you have an eletronic like a notebook or tv with dlna certified, then they have the client to connect to the server and execute these contents. Although, windows 7 comes with dlna client, windows media center, through wifi (dlna is a protocol what runs over wifi).
I asked in my country to Sony support about MHL, they say what the only device is the Xperia Arc S what have MHL ... but i can't confirm that, and the new Xperia U, P etc etc maybe have. However, for us owners of xperia 2011 devices, theres no mhl function, and i searched a lot... so i found xBounds, google it.
About cables through jack, the same, don't work... Sony have an oficial cable to x1 i guess, but not for live's or mini's.
Search also about mirrorOp app on Google Play Store.
PS3 have dlna also and Sony have an app on Play called VScreens.
ps: sry by the english.
OH Sorry guys.

"No problem" about threads, just be careful. One day I made this also . Post an answer on your thread with a link to this post.
And it we go again... all noob have hope about the HDMI in service menu...
Yes, in service menu there is a button for hdmi test. All Android with service menu have a button for hdmi test. All Android with this button kinda have hdmi software support. But, in order to use HDMI properly, the device need a hardware what support HDMI, for example, MHL need an USB socket and a circuit, HDMI need a HDMI socket and a circuit.
In this case, is all about hardware not only software. Although, there are some ways to do screen mirroring, some hardwares and softwares. I bet in xBounds.
No one tried to plug an MHL adapter in mini's or live's, because no one reported if work or not, all we have is a uncertainty. No one tried to plug another kind of cable and reported if work or not. *No one since the latest search I made.
I haven't tried to use an MHL adapter yet because I don't found it in my country so easily and don't found a MHL adapter "more appropriate".
I just need search for a friend or visit some seller what I can meet to test it. I don't found yet.
ps: here lives a bad english also

Doubt not. You're obviously too busy to look it up . Suffice to say that entering "android tv out 3.5mm" or "galaxy s tv" on a well known phone spec checker (sometimes known as 'giyf') gives prominent links to the correct accessory and video demos.

The Sidekick 4g does as well. 4pin 3.5mm TRRS (Left,Right,Ground,Video) cables work on it. So does the Galaxy S II (i9100), and according to Samsung's website, with "Samsung Exhibit™ 4G Android Smartphone Samsung Captivate™ Android Smartphone Samsung Vibrant™ Android Smartphone Galaxy S™ 4G Android Smartphone Samsung Omnia® II Touchscreen Smartphone"
Composite video on 3.5mm jack, and most of those phones have MHL over usb or hdmi as well. Suck on that non-believer.
Samsumg have nice phones.
Sadly theres no MHL, or jack, or HDMI, or magic for xperia mini/pro, et cetera.
Is really unpleasant what the demostration video for LiveDock cause the impression of is possible do tv out for any phone Xperia, but this was discussed before, the true is what the phone in demostration has your own HDMI out. Even the docks with HDMI out, is for phones that already have the HDMI out builded in.
We have just a long wait for xBounds becomes a true for us, because is the only resource what seems work as we need and want.
Of course there's another solutions, but the issue is the delay, but this is not problem, for example, if you want just show content in non-real time.
i have used the galaxy notes MHL in my xperia mini and it dosent work....!!!!1
