What Micro SD card are you using in your Razr? - Motorola Droid RAZR

I'm looking to upgrade the micro SD card in my Razr and was wondering if anyone could help guide me towards the ones worth looking at.
I've never understood if our phones will show a performance/ speed increase when using a higher class (faster) card? Just wondering what kind of SD card everyone is using in their Razr?

Im using a 16 gig class 10 card. It wont improve phone speed. But quicker access to your mem card. Some ppl might not find much a difference. It really all depends what you plan on using the card for.

the 16G card that came in my 3rd DX. The first 2 went corrupt hope this one continues to last.

I ordered this bad boy to go with my RAZR:

Problem is that neither device came in the mail just yet, so I'm stuck with my Droid X for now.

The 32 gig one that came with my thunderbolt.

I use to have a 32gb from my droid charge, I have no idea where it went when I was using it for a micro camcorder. Now I just have the 16gb that came with my bionic when I bought it new.

Waiting on the Sandisk 32Gb Ultra also!

Patriot 16GB Class 10.

SanDisk 32gb CL6 too... had it in my inspire for 9 months, now in the RAZR with no issues.

Samsung 32GB Class 10.

lexar 32gb Class 10!

Had an team group class 10, have had a lot of issues with corrupt files on that one.
You'll need a minimum of class 4 to record full HD video, since it's 20mbits, it will continuously write 2MB/s to it, a class 4 should allow 4MB/s, leaving some headroom.

Personally just go with SanDisk. They are more expensive, but they out-perform other cards on their class. The one I linked earlier does up to 30mb/s...and it's a class 6.

Same here.

32GB Class 10 Patriot Signature for $42 from Amazon free Prime shipping.

The same 16 gig I had in my OG droid.

I just switched from a Class 2 16 GB (came with Xperia) to a Class 4 32 GB (SanDisk).
The class 2 worked very, very good, every action was snappy and responsive, but now the oddest thing happens with the class 4... the phone seems to warm up and my battery drained a lot more. Is this a problem with the card? or firmware/phone issue?
I formated it within the phone (since it once showed me a "corrupt card" message) but the warming up persists. Any thoughts?

I use this one from VZW. Just got it on saturday, so far no problems.

+1 on Sandisk, always works.
Not always more expensive either, since they own all the patents.
Class x is based on the lowest value, might be 1KB writes that are slow, but that doesn't matter when saving large files like photos, that's why some class 2 cards can to 10mb/s in real world usage.

Is a class 6 microSD card worth it?

I currently have a stock 8GB class 2 in the phone and i'm thinking of getting a class 6. I'm pretty much using 7 out of 8GB so i can manage it but it's getting rather close.
The 16GB one would cost me almost 60€ and that's a lot! The 8GB one would be only about 19€.
I didn't try ebay, maybe i could find something there. But given the price difference i think i'll stick with 8GB, what do you think?
The main reason i post here is to ask if there's going to be a NOTICEABLE difference in opening a gallery full of pictures, and picture saving time after taking a shot with the camera?
The HD recording is just a plus here, i just want the galery/shots taking to be faster. Anyone with experience?
thanks
EDIT: ok i've found this one on ebay and it has a USB reader so that i can still use my class 2 8gb as a usb stick so that's a money saver.
I've never had any experience with this company "Team", are their cards any good?

Well I bought it from eshop.gr and paid it 99 euros, it's 100% original but the phone itself can't handle faster chips, the difference is not that much, you might consider buying a 4 class which is by far cheaper!
i think i'll just get a class 6 8gb for 20$ and stick with that, that way i'll just use my old class 2 8gb in an adapter as a memory stick

Configure "app to SD" then you will notice the difference. For normal use, class 2 is more than enough.

for normal use, it sucks! i need to wait at least one minute for the gallery to open because of all my photos, isn't that because of a slow SD card? correct me if i'm wrong...
Be carefull when buying SD cards from Ebay. I bought an 8GB class 6 card once (no brand, from Hong Kong) and it turned out it's not really class 6 at all, more like class 2 or 4 (low transfer speeds). The class 6 card that came with my X10 is a true class 6 card (transfer speed of 6 MB/s).
I'm not saying all SD cards on Ebay are fake, but alot probably are (fake as in not the class they advertise).
heh, i already ordered one
it's from a top rated seller so i hope it'll be ok
thanks for the heads up
I have a class 6 16 gig, i did have a class 4 8 gig and i could not play need for speed as the game would freeze. now the game plays no problem with the class 6 card.
what does an SD card have anything to do with it?

Ps. I don't use apps2ssd so i don't know the diff there first hand, anyhu i reccommens class 6

It is speed. Sandisk has the fastest random write speed which is what seems to cause those lock ups. SD card class is just measures one (relatively unimportant) indicator of SD card "speed" (sustained read).
Sustained read and write are great if you're using your card to backup large media or picture files but more or less worthless for running an operating system. Same principle is in place for SSD. Manufactures advertise sustained transfer rates but the important stat for a OS drive is access time (which determines the speed of random read/writes).
Here's a link to a 32gb sandisk for $30 http://slickdeals.net/da/mem-i/p46847290/k4569/u125110/r4
These work just as well as the 16gb ones.

32gb is theoretically the maximum, since 64gb cards will all be part of the new SDXD standard. Then again, several people have found that the 64gb SDXC cards work in their SDHC devices so we'll just have to wait until someone tests one in the nook color to know for sure if it'll support it (I wouldn't hold your breath, our hardware is fairly old).
I can certify that the 32gb works fine, as can numerous others who I've seen post.

[Q] SD Card recommendations re: class

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of picking up an SD card for my prime when it comes in. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which class I should get?
I'm thinking 6 or 8 minimum, esp since I will likely end up watching movies (avi, mpg, mkv) off the card. Has anyone tried doing this yet or testing which class SD cards work best?
Gracias
Transcend 16G class 10 works super fast. Love it. My only choice.
And it's not expensive in my region (TW).
I tried a class 4 on my old Advent Vega. When there was no comparion, class 4 seemed ok. But now after a class 10 card experience, I don't think I want to settle for anything less fast.
Looks like Sandisk 32GB Class 4 is what a lot of people are recommending.
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150369
Just received the SanDisk 64 GB microSD Class 6. Getting 7.3-7.5 MByte/s write speeds.
Also have a Samsung 32 GB Class 10, getting 11-12 MByte/s writes.
Write speeds returned on transferring big files (>600 MB) only.
SanDisk comes exFAT formatted so you can put files >4GB on it (very handy for those big mkvs). Samsung comes FAT32, but keeps same high write speeds when formatted exFAT. 64 GB works well with the Prime.

CrystalDiskMark is real good for testing card speed (from a PC).
After reading a HUGE thread here on XDA about all the classes and how it can vary depending on your need, I opted for a class 4. I was convinced I needed class 10, but after reading that entire huge thread I came to see that for my needs, class 4 was fine and perfect and class 10 of little actual value. So I got a very highly rated Transcend 32gb class 4 off Amazon.

Other than read/write speeds when hooked up to a computer, is there any other benefit to getting a class 10 card? I have a 16GB class 4 card in my phone, and it works fine when it is in the phone, ie: I don't have any sort of lag when playing music stored on the sd card, etc.

Well, you need a class 6 at least for 1080p recording... Class 4 can only do 720p. And do a backup once on your class 4... Then do a backup on a class 10... You would be shocked how slow the class 4 is. Same goes for copying files

Is it formatted to a FAT32? That will probably save you from most headaches. I've had my 16g for almost 2yrs with no probs. I save tons of crap on mine. Movies, music, roms, apps...etc I haven't had a problem as of yet.
Wait....I sent this with Tapatalk?
did any of them happen to be sandisks, directly from sandisk website? I have NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH sandisk, IT MUST BE authentic though. Used a micro sd card for the past 3 years, still works.
depending on what you use your micro sd for it depends on what class you should get, a higher class is not always better for your purpose. A higher class has better sequantial read write, while a lower class has a better read write. If you transfering files all the time, I'll stick to class 2 or max 4. If you're trying to shoot movies more of the time get a higher class. there's been a topic on classes of microSD, honestly you don't need anything more than a class 2, it has plenty more write speed than is used by our phone to shoot HD video.
ALSO lower classes are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less prone to get corrupt. keep that in mind next time.
SanDisk is ALL I will EVER buy.
I've git a 32GB class4 that I bought before realizing I need a class6 for 1080p video recording almface: but I've had no issues. I've also had an 8gb class 2 that's NEVER had issues (other than writing really slow) and I've had it for yrs now

Must be bad luck. I have a 16gb class 6 that I use in this phone and my last phone. So close to two years old now.
I have an Adata 16 gig class 10 SD card that eventually went bad on me. They are supposed to have a lifetime warranty so I'll see if I try that.
That microsd gave tons of headaches. My Droid 2 would start acting funny once it went bad. It would freeze, pics would show up sometimes and sometimes now. Lots of forcecloses and my computer would read and read it. I pretty much had to reformat it to get it working again but a few days later the problems would pop up.
I went ahead and bought a samsung 32 gig class 10 once I got my Amaze. So far so good this thing is even supposed to be water proof with a 5 year warranty. It was around $37 from Fry's.
