[One-Day Amazon Gold Box Deal] SanDisk Ultra Class 10 SD Cards
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
These are full size cards and will not work with the Amaze I believe (we use micro-sd). Correct me if I`m wrong though.
Yeah I looked at pic and just saw slot in the bottom so I assumed it was a micro that came with an adapter... I was wrong yet again :banghead:
I'm still gonna get the 64GB to put in my 32GB Toshiba Thrive... ~100GB will be plenty

I saw your post on Android-Dev first. I responded over there with the same thing these guys said. Almost a great find though. I'd love to get a class 10 64 GB micro-SD for $50.
Other than read/write speeds when hooked up to a computer, is there any other benefit to getting a class 10 card? I have a 16GB class 4 card in my phone, and it works fine when it is in the phone, ie: I don't have any sort of lag when playing music stored on the sd card, etc.

Well, you need a class 6 at least for 1080p recording... Class 4 can only do 720p. And do a backup once on your class 4... Then do a backup on a class 10... You would be shocked how slow the class 4 is. Same goes for copying files

Well shoot, I didn't know that about the video recording. Looks like I am gonna have to get me a higher class card now to take advantage of the video on this thing!

I'm looking to upgrade the micro SD card in my Razr and was wondering if anyone could help guide me towards the ones worth looking at.
I've never understood if our phones will show a performance/ speed increase when using a higher class (faster) card? Just wondering what kind of SD card everyone is using in their Razr?

Im using a 16 gig class 10 card. It wont improve phone speed. But quicker access to your mem card. Some ppl might not find much a difference. It really all depends what you plan on using the card for.

the 16G card that came in my 3rd DX. The first 2 went corrupt hope this one continues to last.
I ordered this bad boy to go with my RAZR:

Problem is that neither device came in the mail just yet, so I'm stuck with my Droid X for now.
The 32 gig one that came with my thunderbolt.

I use to have a 32gb from my droid charge, I have no idea where it went when I was using it for a micro camcorder. Now I just have the 16gb that came with my bionic when I bought it new.

Waiting on the Sandisk 32Gb Ultra also!
Patriot 16GB Class 10.
SanDisk 32gb CL6 too... had it in my inspire for 9 months, now in the RAZR with no issues.
Samsung 32GB Class 10.
lexar 32gb Class 10!
Had an team group class 10, have had a lot of issues with corrupt files on that one.
You'll need a minimum of class 4 to record full HD video, since it's 20mbits, it will continuously write 2MB/s to it, a class 4 should allow 4MB/s, leaving some headroom.

Personally just go with SanDisk. They are more expensive, but they out-perform other cards on their class. The one I linked earlier does up to 30mb/s...and it's a class 6.

Same here.
32GB Class 10 Patriot Signature for $42 from Amazon free Prime shipping.
The same 16 gig I had in my OG droid.
I just switched from a Class 2 16 GB (came with Xperia) to a Class 4 32 GB (SanDisk).
The class 2 worked very, very good, every action was snappy and responsive, but now the oddest thing happens with the class 4... the phone seems to warm up and my battery drained a lot more. Is this a problem with the card? or firmware/phone issue?
I formated it within the phone (since it once showed me a "corrupt card" message) but the warming up persists. Any thoughts?
I use this one from VZW. Just got it on saturday, so far no problems.

+1 on Sandisk, always works.
Not always more expensive either, since they own all the patents.
Class x is based on the lowest value, might be 1KB writes that are slow, but that doesn't matter when saving large files like photos, that's why some class 2 cards can to 10mb/s in real world usage.
What's the difference between the classes of SD cards? Which one is best for the Atrix?
Sent from my Atrix
The higher the class the better it usually is depending on who makes the sd card. Sandisk is the best in my opinion even though the class cards get very expensive for them. But each card I have bought from sandisk have never failed on me. Try googleing class card speed and their should be a few guides put out there about them. I don't know personally if the ATRIX can handle the very high classes but I could be wrong.

The answer to your first question is "SPEED" and that is it. It has nothing to do with who manufactured it (except indirectly in that lesser known mfrs may lie or exaggerate about their speed.)
In order to identify it as Class 4 or Class 10, it must have speed that fits in that classification.
Here are the basics.
Class Speed
Class 2 2 MB/s
Class 4 4 MB/s
Class 6 6 MB/s
Class 10 10 MB/s
Hope that helps.
FWIW, I am using an A-Data Class10 16GB card and it is smoking fast. No skips or pauses when playing media.

I am using a Transcend, class 4, 16GB card and also have no issues with skipped music, or recording/playback of videos. The only place I see a difference is with benchmarks if I drop in a class 10 from one of my other devices. Other than having higher benchmarks I see no advantage to paying the extra cash for a class 10 sdcard for the Atrix.
I copy large files often to my phone and also for when I make full SD card backups. It makes the process so much faster. Well worth the extra cash. Time is money afterall
now im wondering if my "frozen" songs its because my sd card.
i'll buy one class10 and see, my sd even show the class, should be class 1
The answers are right on. I have a 16gb class 4 and it is a lot better than the 8 gb class 2. Transferring zip files is a breeze. I am sure a higher class will be in my future.
I have a class 10 I got on sale and coming from my class 4 I could not go back. I do a lot of music transfers and the class 10 is a night and day difference

The other 2 were damaged by my G2x .... I just got my Amaze. And the thing is.... is that I make sure I put it on "Charge Only" when I wanna take the phone from the usb cord..... try to prevent crap like this from happening!!!!!
I am usually so careful!
This SD card stopped working when I went into my Gallery!
go to newegg.com they usually have pretty good deals. i bought my 8gb card and another 4g card for my car, almost 2 years ago and both cards are still working.

Is it formatted to a FAT32? That will probably save you from most headaches. I've had my 16g for almost 2yrs with no probs. I save tons of crap on mine. Movies, music, roms, apps...etc I haven't had a problem as of yet.
Wait....I sent this with Tapatalk?
did any of them happen to be sandisks, directly from sandisk website? I have NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH sandisk, IT MUST BE authentic though. Used a micro sd card for the past 3 years, still works.
depending on what you use your micro sd for it depends on what class you should get, a higher class is not always better for your purpose. A higher class has better sequantial read write, while a lower class has a better read write. If you transfering files all the time, I'll stick to class 2 or max 4. If you're trying to shoot movies more of the time get a higher class. there's been a topic on classes of microSD, honestly you don't need anything more than a class 2, it has plenty more write speed than is used by our phone to shoot HD video.
ALSO lower classes are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less prone to get corrupt. keep that in mind next time.
SanDisk is ALL I will EVER buy.
I've git a 32GB class4 that I bought before realizing I need a class6 for 1080p video recording almface: but I've had no issues. I've also had an 8gb class 2 that's NEVER had issues (other than writing really slow) and I've had it for yrs now

I have an ADATA 32GB card that I bought from Newegg back in September that has worked great for me. I used it in my HD2, and now in my Amaze. It is a class 4 card, but it has worked great for even 1080p recording on my Amaze. I'll test the speeds of the card and give the results later.
I picked up a class 10 Kingston 16gb on sale about 2 years ago and it's been working great. Loaded with movies, music, games, roms, etc... Use it everyday.

I had an 8GB which was Class 4..... and it was NOT SanDisk. I shoot a lot of high quality pictures and HD Vids.... That's mostly what I need my SD card for.... that and keeping my Rom downloads... I am so mad!
Doesn't lower class mean it will take a phone forever to read a 16gb class 2????

I have my original 8gb SanDisk that came with my Evo 4G on release date and it still works perfectly. I've always stuck with SanDisk because they last.
Must be bad luck. I have a 16gb class 6 that I use in this phone and my last phone. So close to two years old now.
I have an Adata 16 gig class 10 SD card that eventually went bad on me. They are supposed to have a lifetime warranty so I'll see if I try that.
That microsd gave tons of headaches. My Droid 2 would start acting funny once it went bad. It would freeze, pics would show up sometimes and sometimes now. Lots of forcecloses and my computer would read and read it. I pretty much had to reformat it to get it working again but a few days later the problems would pop up.
I went ahead and bought a samsung 32 gig class 10 once I got my Amaze. So far so good this thing is even supposed to be water proof with a 5 year warranty. It was around $37 from Fry's.
I have a 16gb card for 8 bucks from ebay that I bought about 2 year ago. Works great.

damaged card
had a problem with sd phone and computer could not reformat put it in my blackberry formatted working fine higher class higher speed capable reader determined may increase reader read ahead to 2048 shoud show more speed root toolbox or similar app works
Here are the speeds I got on my ADATA class 4 32GB microSD card. I'm able to record 1080p with no problems.
I read somewhere that class 4 records 720p. I'll see if I can find it
While looking... I found myself proven to be corrected.

Both the brands are awesome....But class 4 is obviously better than class 2 for android....My Sandisk 16 Gb Class 4 MicSD gives a read speed of about 14 MB/sec and write speed of 5-6 MB/sec......
SanDisk is more known, also class 4 is faster.

hmm, but transcend normally cost more than sandisk here, class 2 transcend 16gb is almost at the same price on sandisk 16gb class 4 so i thought transcend has more quality than sandisk,
I personaly use also 16gb class 2 trascend about 3 years already without any problem first in SE elm now in my mini. But my opinion when you buy new is buy even faster or maybe even biger coz lifetime microsd is great and you can use it in many phones. Anyway speed in phone is for any action enouhg for me now and never got any problem with memory from trascend (i using from trascend now microsd, normal sd, ram, flash disc)

Guys don't forget that the speed class only describes the write speed of the card.
Most cards, I mean even class 2, are fast enough at reading speed for usual use.
For good writing performence you should buy a class 10 card even if the price is higher.
Its a big difference copying for example 700 mb with 10 mb or only 2 mb writing speed.

Forget brands, its the class that matters
Well I went over to the accessories section and found threads on this...they are REALLY serious about this stuff there....the bottom line here, and in other fora is that the San Disk Class 4 is perhaps the best out there. People claim (and show pictures proving) that it has beaten higher class SD cards. I went for this one and am very happy...it beats expectations. I agree it's mostly more about class rather than brand, but brand can affect things sometimes.
I bought a Kingston 16MB class 4 for my x10mp, and the phone kept hanging up. Sent it back as a defect and got another one, but I had the same problem with that one, too. Sent it back for a refund. Bought a Sandisk 16MB class 4 and haven't had any problems with it. I'm not sure about the '11 xmp, but brand did matter on my old phone.

i am thinking of ADATA 8GB Class 10 Micro SDHC Flash Card with SD adaptor Model AUSDH8GCL10-RA1, for my sk17i. It has good reviews on newegg. What yall think? Also how the process of changing sd cards goes, i mean i just simply copy everything from sd card that came with sk17i, to new sd card, via windows explorer or what?

class4 is better
Im curious what class microsd would be good for me taking pictures and recording 720p 1080p video? (yes i know class 10 is the best possible) but Im not sure I can afford that. I have a class 4 sandisk in there right now but im not sure if thats acceptable or not.
any imput or information is welcome. thanks guys.
Just use the internal for pics and video. Has a 30MB/s write. 3-4 times faster than class 10. But class 10 if you do use the sd card, if you shop right you can get a 32gb class 10 for 20-30 bucks
Sent from my HTC EVO 4g LTE
Here are a bunch for around $30.
so my class 4 wouldnt be too good for recording video/pics i take it
You would have to do a comparison to see, but most people would say you would need a Class 10 if you want to record in 1080p. That has been the recommendation since the OG Evo so I'm pretty sure it would apply here.

Haven't had any problems with my Lexar 32 GB class 10. I haven't tested the speed difference between internal & external but I would have to assume that internal is gonna be faster. If Class 10 isn't fast enough then maybe you should check out the UHS-I rated cards.
