Hi there
sorry for being a noob but what I read online and was following does not seem to work. I rooted my Froyo 2.2.2 bought Rom Manager downloaded Cyanogen used the flash recovery rom and hit install custom rom but all that happens is the phone doing a factory reset and thats it.
I would love in case somebody could tell me what I might be doing wrong and what all steps (noob level) I need to take to get Android 2.3 onto my LG Optimus T.
Thanks
Claas
Cyanongenmod is unofficial gingerbread on our phones..its a port of unofficial gingerbreakld with the latest being 7.2 A6...if you have root, than download either amonra 3.06 or clockworkmod recovery 5.0.2.1 or something like that....once you have root and you have recovery flashed.flashing roms is easy...full wipe, dalvik cache wipe, wipe data...
If you want official gingerbread 2.3,you will have to flash new baseband...I've always stuck with unofficial cyanongenmod or old baseband roms

I have an LG Optimus One running 2.2.2 latest firmware V10e. Recently, I rooted my device and installed ClockWorkMod Recovery and the Lagfix+OC Kernel by der_caverman. I am using the Stock ROM with that Kernel.
My question is when the official Gingerbread Update comes out by LG, will I be able to update it with the official LG software updater or will it not work because I have ClockWorkMod Recovery installed.
If not, how can I remove ClockWorkMod Recovery get my original Recovery Back???
any help would be appreciated!
I already asked the same question

you can just flash any recovery given above.its a zip file just flash the zip as you flash roms.one of the links contains original recovery for p500.
thanks...it worked
thank you guys...
If the phone is just 'rooted' and no custom ROM, would one need to follow the above steps before upgrading? Thanks

nope. you can upgrade at any time if u are staying with ur oem rom even if u are rooted. only thing is that u will lose ur root previllage after the update.
its alwayes advisable to have a custom recovery and custom rom. cause it can take nandroid backups(will save your day if anything goes wrong)

Can you please tell me can I upgrade without doing anything??? I have rooted my phone and installed AmonRa recovery, and I'm on stock rom 2.2.2 10e (I have just flashed some framework that I made on UOT kitchen).

it is risky since you have changed the frame work.if i were you i will do the following.
1)unroot the phone( if u have used gingerbreak use the same to unroot)
2)down load the original recovery from http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ and flash. thus u can getrid of amonra and get back original p500 recovery
3)reboot and hard reset and upgrade.
4) since u are now on original recovery and in unrooted condition if any thing goes wrong u can claim warrenty.
let me ask u why u need an upgrade? to get lot of crapwares? or to get amere 600mhz kernal? or to get a laggy phone with mere 60 mb of internal storage space to install all ur apps? or to have adds on every apps?
go for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
its stable,beautiful,oced and updated gingerbread.
Thanks for your answer!
And I understand you when you ask me why do I need official update, because I agree that official rom = creap And thats why the first thing that I have done when I rooted my phone was to uninstall all the bloatware from it
I will for sure flash miks rom when he base it on official gingerbread, and if I have a little time for weekend current mod that you recommended (I only hesitate because of the bugs - I know there are just a couple of them, but...). I tried yesterday francos kernel v151, but I'm experiencing color bending in lower half of a screen with it...

ya its up to you to decide...and i agree with u absolutly.but i aint had any problems with mik's 6.5.2(not using francos ker cause some error with cpu freq settings, u have to use setcpu).
Just one more question - when you said:
2)down load the original recovery from http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ and flash.

you mean to flash it from amonra recovery, right? (I know, it's a noob question, but better to be safe then sorry

yes its a flashable unsigned zip.but if u r using amonra to flash( cause it is unsigned) u have to uncheck the option "toggle signature verify" first.Amonra wont allow u to flash unsigned zips unless u do the above.
ps:if original recovery is flashed u will lose all the options in amonra and the only option will be the hard reset option.
there is a good how to section if u wish...

I'm Newbie, and I'm using LG Optimus Z ( know as LG KU9500/SU950 ). I want install ClockworkMod to recovery rom. It run android 2.2.2
Show me please.
Thanks every one very much.....
I got galaxy I5503 with eclair 2.1 and i still got a stock rom. I just want to upgrade my g5 to froyo 2.2 via my g5 itself not using any kind of help from pc,Is it possible..???
if yes than plz answer the query cuz im very eager to try new custom roms.
Stock rom?
Hey dude.I think you cant do that without using a PC,as you need at least to flash clockwork mod.And one more thing,as you are saying that you are on stock rom please visit the below link and backup your rom.
You need to get ClockWorkMod on your phone first. To do that, you need a pc anyway.....
you will need your pc... for official updates or unofficial ones.
for official froyo you will need KIES and download thru it... if you want to run CM7 or any other rom you will also need Odin to flash ClockworkMod Recovery, and then you can install any other G5 rom you want.
Here is a tutorial about how to install CWM v0.7:

And here is a tutorial about how to install CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0 with ANDROID 2.3.7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149110
I've been using these two tutorials for about since 1-2 months ago... I recommend installing both^

So I have a LG-P509-v10s (the opitmus t) with android v2.2.2 its rooted and I have thunderg v1.2 recovery, can I only flash roms based of 2.2.2. Any rom suggestions
You can flash any rom meant for P509 or P500. Try void froyo final.
I'd say try void forever, 2.3.4 - its the cleanest room out there + franco's kernel.

the recovery has nothing to do with what rom you can flash,
its just need a flash able zip and ur ready to go
thats what i figured but I didn't understand why people would say things like "Heres how you install it on blank recovery" why not just say in recovery
back up ur stock
Hey there!
Just recently rooted my LG E970 (AT&T) so I'm fairly new to this.
I had been running CM11 for about a week and a decided to update to the newest nightly version earlier (cm-11-20131228-NIGHTLY-e970.zip). Well, the installation of the ZIP file failed (Error executing updater binary in zip). I'm using TWRP 2.6.3.0 recovery. Now my Optimus G only boots to TWRP recovery.
I've read that TWRP are having some issues installing 4.4 custom ROMS so it's recommended to use ClockworkMod. The problem is I don't know how to install ClockworkMod manually or using a PC.
So, how do I install CWM and override TWRP without an actual OS on my phone running?
I'm fairly new to rooting and installing custom roms .
Thanks!
That's an old version of twrp, there's a newer one for kk builds floating around here.

Thanks for the reply!
How do I exactly install another version of custom recovery on top of my current one without an OS running on my phone?
I have tried adb and fastboot with no luck.
If you can send me to a site with instructions, that would be fantastic.
Thank you!
Only for att version.

Hii!!
I hope I am not making an error by posting here, I am a little new to here so be king please
I just want to install Philz CMW6 on my I9100G so I can install a kitkat custom ROM; I have been facing problems with this, I tried many ROMs ( CM11 unofficial, SuperNexus, SlimRom, OmniROM .. ) but I failed everytime, I realized that my CWM was not suitable. So I started looking for it I found a good thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860 after installing the CWM it goes right installing ROMs but got stuck into bootloop.
So, if someone can give me the .tar.md5 file I can flash using Odin or maybe another thing to take care of.
Thank you
PS: I had CM 10.2
Running official stock ROM : JB 4.1.2

Try this steps:
1. Use the method in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365701) to flash JB stock + root. note that it's better to flash the kernel via recovery after it's on your external sd-card or sideload with adb. This way you don't get the triangle warning and no binary count.
2. Download the kitkat compatible CWM from here: (http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyS2/recovery/CWM-KitKatCompatible-i9100.zip)
3. Flash the CWM and reboot to recovery (advanced -> reboot recovery)
4. Flash your Kitkat rom (with all the necessary wipes of course )

I tried this but I got stuck on boot again, and knowing that the CWM that you gived don't work :/ ( my model is I9100G I think that this is the reason ).
I have read somewhere that maybe the wipe data / factory reset is the source of problem. I am not sure where I am doing wrong
thanks
