Hi all i've been using this forum to solve my problems with phones for a few mounth now but there's one that i can't ( hence why i joined and the one post count , sorry)
I bought a Hero ( t-mobile ) of ebay and i receive the following message - your sim card does not allow a connection with this network.
( this is with an old T-mobile sim card i had lying around and an 02 sim card ( on contract but shouldn't make a difference if the phone is unlocked? see below ))
I then purchased a Super-xsimIV to unlock the phone to any network (Wanting it on 02) however after many attempts to get the Super-xsim to work i relised that the phone was not supported .
I then decided to buy a code via a website that presumably used a IMEI calculator for an unlock code. I bought one and received it and it allowed the 02 simcard to work(ish!)
However i still receive the error, i have a very stong signal on my present phone with 02 - nokia 5800 so it aint the coverage. I did a bit of digging up on the net and found that the phone could actually be barred via IMEI ( how could i check this ) or that the radio is not functioning properly.
* i know this is illegal, but is there a way to change the IMEI by flashing or another method? I've seen a few tools for the windows mobile OS's but none for the androids.
Sorry if it sound confusing , but any help or suggestions at all are appreciated.
Is your sim too old? Try a recent ie 3UK payg sim.
IMEI change is not encouraged.
As Lord Lucan said, its sounds like a very old sim - get a free 3g one. And I wouldn't recommend changing the IMEI either!
Hi ill try a new sim but the 02 one im trying to use is out of a contract phone ( pay monthly ) that i got in august and it works in my nokia 5800.
sean.... here we are trying to adrress your core problem of mobile data connection. It is only to verify if your data sim has developed any fault.
Sorry i didn't meant to come across ignorant or cocky. I bought a t-mobile sim for 79p and if registers correctly , i then went to the 02 shop and got a new sim. On the 02 sim im still getting the error - could this be due to the new sim needing to be registered etc ( he said 2 -24 for a number transfer )
I think so.
The reason I suggested a 3 USIM to try is because:-
With a H3G sim you can take advantage of free skype calling and WLM for chatting as both require data connection thereby easyway to test data connection without actually paying for it. And its perfectly within H3G guideline.
Hi,
I just got my docomo SIM with unlimited data plan.
But somehow i and the guy from the docomo shop couldn't get the data to work. APN is set to spmode.ne.jp
Here are my info:
Galaxy s2 international version.
CyanogenMod7
Maybe someone has some idea why it doesn't work?
Ask question in Cyanogen forum .

This question was there already asked but not answered.
Anyways, i reverted back to stock rom and the problem persits. So it's not a problem of cm.
Is it possible that the s2 doesn't work in japan? In detail, that data doesn't work? Calls work very well.
If someone got the german/international version to work with data in japan please tell me.
Hi,
I bought my galaxys2 in France and unlocked it. It is now potentially possible to use it with any carrier (and I tested it with two other french carriers)
However, I am going to Japan for my job for at least a few years and since my phone is only a few month old, I'd like to keep on using it in Japan.
It is my understanding that if in "about phone" setting window the phone version is "GT-I9000", it means that I have the "international version" of the phone.
Is that right ?
If so, will it work with any japanese carrier (docomo, au, softbank...) ?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this because it is quite hard to find answers about this issue...
Guys I'm new to this website a friend of mine referred me to this particular site hoping someone can help me with my problem, a korean student of mine gave me a white galaxy note with the model of SHV-E160L, its seems im having problems with the messaging, is there something I can do to convert this phone to a universal model perhaps so that i dont have problems sending sms anymore because everytime there will be an error saying ( invalid sender ). please help me. thanks
Note E160L
Yeah... Same problem here. SMS don't work. And all the chinese ROM alternatives solve the problem but they aren't very good cause there are some functions missing. So that would be perfect, if we could change the hardware ID to an international model. I had a SE x10 and I remember it was possible (i changed it back then). So, anyone knows if that's possible in the Note so we could install a European or American ROM?
Thanks
whats the missing functionality of the chinese rom? how did u managed to send sms?
SGN
Dont put custom roms on your Korean phones unless it has been approved and tested to work. I say this because I lived in Korea 5 years there SMS system is diffrent from the rest of the world. There is very heavy coding that has to go into getting the SMS to work once flash. I am just a user i dont program I just learned this stuff over the years. I also have the LG U+ SGN and I just game from Korea off a 2 week vacation my phone worked just fine over there. As a matter of fact I am on my second SGN phone bother are Unlocked and work no matter where I travel. If anything I would just wait for the update to ICS and dont put any ROMS on the phone
Same Problem
Hi! I have a similar problem. I am living in China and bought a Korean model, SHV-E160L. My service provider is China Unicom (with 3G coverage). I was happy to get my phone - but bummed to find out that I can't text my friends.
"Invalid Sender" always pops up.
The usual reply is to change the number in your message center. However, when I or the Chinese Unicom representative tried to find it, there was no sign of the message center anywhere. According to some resources on the internet, pushing *#*#4636#*#* should pull up some backup menu in order to find it. It doesn't.
Should I be getting different coverage? Is it a problem with my APN? Should I get a ROM?
UPDATE:
Thanks to "uraz" here, I discovered how to access the SMSC.
I am new here to the forum however not to the android scene or programming. I have been looking around the forum for some software to begin to build some of my own roms for different phones as i use multiple phones:
Samsung galaxy S2 (AT&T / T Mobile ) unlocked
Lg Thrill (AT&T / T Mobile ) unlocked
HTC Vivid (AT&T / T Mobile ) unlocked
HTC inspire (AT&T / T Mobile ) unlocked
T-Mobile My Touch
HP Touchpad ( WebOS, Android, Linux ) boot
I would like to be able to build my own roms and boot animations. I have been unable to find and software here after looking around for two days and searching here, was wondering if anyone has got a tip for a good place to start besides a google search. I swear by this site it has never steared me wrong yet so I would prefer to stick here if possible
hey everyone..
is there a possibility that i can make spoof the name of the s2 to some blackberry name by changing anything in the system data, so that my network carrier can identify my phone as a blackberry phone instead of the galaxy s2.... internet plans for blackberry are better than the other phones at my place...
once, i flashed a custom firmware of nokia c6 on my nokia n97 due to which my phone was identified as nokia c6 by my carrier...
so is there any similar way i can spoof the name for my s2....
