I'm hesitant to start this thread because I love my Prime and don't want to see another flame/hate thread started. This is by no means a deal-breaker for me; everything else works great except GPS (which I don't care about, but don't mention that to the folks in the GPS thread)... anyway...
My Prime seems to occasionally lock up completely if I dock or un-dock it while it's "doing something". Most recently, it was launching the stock browser from a URL in Reader. I waited awhile (maybe a minute), but all the buttons were unresponsive, though the Wifi indicator kept blinking, and I could put it in and out of sleep. Re-docking did nothing. I eventually restarted it via holding the power button. I'm on .33 if that matters.
I've had this happen a couple times before. Anyone else? I'm assuming it's just a weird bug, since most Androids don't have detachable keyboards. Hopefully it can be fixed in an update, but I wondered if others had similar experiences before I opened a support ticket to Asus.
Will test this tomorrow, when my dock comes in. Separately, how much do we want to bet that a certain somebody will claim to have this issue?

I don't get lockups, but my dock connection seems to come and go. When it's docked, sometimes the dock battery doesn't show, and sometimes the keyboard is unresponsive (top row keys work, others dont).

I got the lapdock over the weekend (price-matched) and love it .... when it works. After experimenting with it for a day, it seems like the dock is defective. I was hoping it was just a software issue (clearing the cache seemed to solve it for a little while, but now I think that was just a coincidence), but that's not seeming likely :-(
Anywhere from a few seconds to an hour after entering webtop mode, the keyboard and trackpad suddenly stop working. Closing/re-opening the webdock will sometimes restore it. In all cases, I've confirmed that the webtop/phone itself is still fully functional using a USB keyboard plugged into the Webtop.
Has anyone else seen similar issues? I'll have to call a few stores in the morning t see if any still have the docks in stock to exchange it. If not, does anybody have any experiences with warranty claims on the dock from ATT or even Motorola directly (I assume there's at least a 30-day warranty...)?
what rom are u running on? could be a software issue
There is a 30 day warranty on the device. I just got mine and it's pretty awesome, had no issues, using it as a standard dock right now with the lid closed.
I'm running stock (but rooted) OTA ATT 2.2.2.
I started looking into updating to 2.3.x the other day to see if that would help, but I'm still trying to sort out the proper upgrade process.
The part that makes me think its h/w and not s/w is that the USB keyboard plugged into the dock keeps working, so it. The fact that it works for variable amounts of time, and that resetting restores it for a few seconds to a number of minutes when fully power cycled makes me wonder though.
At first, it seemed like "Delayed Lock" might have been causing issues, but stopping that app didn't have any affect, besides which altering the settings to not lock while connected to wifi or power also stopped any potential problems with that.
The store I purchased it from has one more left in stock. It'll be wasting ~45min. round trip to get there, but I'll head over there tonight and to exchange it and hope for the best...
I was able to exchange the dock without difficulty (for the last one they had in stock).
After experimenting with it for a few days, I can confirm that the first dock was indeed defective. The replacement is working without issue ... though the right-arrow key does sometimes think it's a touch-sensitive pad instead of a key, but I'm not complaining. Now on the other hand if I had actually paid MSRP for the dock, I would have been a bit miffed at the quality of the keyboard...
They come with a 1 year warranty from what I was told when I bought mine yesterday. I assume only a 30-day instore exchange.
I was using my TFP while brushing my teeth this morning and noticed something very strange. Did my diligence and didn't noticed anything else on the forums about it.
The TFP was on the counter as I was reading through the morning's posts via Google Reader. I opened a link that went to the stock browser and noticed that after I stopped touching the tablet, it developed some white lines, maybe 3/4 cm long and 3 mm or so apart, all along the length of the left edge of the tablet while it was in landscape orientation.
When I picked it up, the problem went away. When I put it down, it happened again after a second, so I picked it up again, and it went away again. This time I took a closer look to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me, so I was holding it a bit longer. After I put it down, the problem didn't reappear, and hasn't yet happened again, even after carrying it into work with me.
Has anyone else had this problem? The lines went down the entire edge and into the back button. The lines weren't static either, changing length horizontally but not vertically.
I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software problem, but either way, I'm inclined to exchange, return, or RMA it. Starting to have enough minor problems that it's becoming a major fuss.

Now that I think about it, I had just showered - humidity could be a factor, but that was like 20 minutes earlier.
white lines
I had something very similar happen yesterday..see pics.
Btw. Steamed music and Bluetooth connected to Bose with no problem.didn't try video.
Received mine via UPS from Best Buy at 4pm, returned it at 8pm. BB ordered a new one, which will arrive 01/14.

Wow, mine didn't do anything nearly that bad. Maybe that's the next phase of this issue though.

my tf201 has this problem occasionally as well.
it seems to be a memory/multitasking issue in android itself.
on my tf201 it happens when switching from a game to a non-gpu or graphics intensive app.
simple solution is that you need to kill some of the tasks in the background, then restart your app. then it goes away.

Whew... As long as it's not some sort of physical damage, I can live with it
It went away with newer firmwares. Pops up once in a while, but I think it's related to the graphics system. If I unload everything from the quickswitch, the triangle issue and this one don't occur anymore.
Anyone figure this out? I get it the odd time as well.
See attached. (The vertical lines in the picture are just from the camera.)
i've been getting the same problem with mine, just recently, i've done a hard reset but it comes right back. I requested an RMA from Asus, is it worth sending in and is it something that is fixable or is it just a software issue with 4.0.3.
And where is this quickswitch that you unloaded everything from..
i mailed it back, i told them i either wanted the wifi & the static lines fixed, a refund or an upgrade to a 700. Not that they care
For some unknown reason, sometimes the keyboard will get stuck in caps lock (without caps lock being on) and other times the typing cursor will go back to the start of a paragraph, usually interrupting a sentence that I'm already typing out.
The pads inside the keyboard dock near the connector are starting to rub off from the cheap glue not holding it properly. Design flaw from not thinking that the Tablet will be frequently removed and inserted into the dock.
The rubber bumper on the bottom of the keyboard dock near the touchpad fell off. Cheap glue is the culprit.
Touchpad is a redundant feature to the Prime, and really has no point in even being on it. I'd rather have better battery life instead of it. (Purely opinion.)
If holding shift while pressing backspace, it will not delete. Keyboard needs multi-press functionality.
Mura on the screen. (Bright spot)
Internal GPS basically doesn't exist since it doesn't work well.
Both the tablet and keyboard dock are very easily scratched. There's more irregular scratch marks on the back of the tablet compared to the laser-etched rings.
The stock browser, even after a factory reset (.28), is completely unstable and hangs/stutters/crashes regularly at least 20 times a day.
The worst part about the browser is that some days it's highly unstable and then another day it works perfectly.
I haven't had issues with Wifi or Bluetooth, Wifi has been fine. I don't use Bluetooth so I'm unsure if it's a problem.
Lastly, while the screen is gorgeous, the colors are a tad warm.
And sadly, my phone performs better than my Prime while simply browsing the internet and handling multiple tasks. (Samsung Infuse 4G)
For those who feel the need to give this thread a low rating, that's fine, because this is (for the most part) fact-based problems with MY Prime. You can pretend your Prime is perfect, but it's not. I may be picky, sure, but these are problems that I'm not just making up with the one I have now.
This also isn't saying "Oh no the Prime is teh worzt tablut evuuurrr dn't buy dis." I'm just sharing the negatives I've experienced with my model of the TF201. Perhaps even informative to ASUS so they'll better know how to refine their next models. (If they even look at this post, which is highly unlikely.)
I still believe the Prime is a premium tablet, but it DOES have issues.
So return it and wait or get something else..... Logic

its possible your stock browser still using old data. to remedy this, clear your browser cache then reboot. then hopefully your stock browser will be working fine. just try it if you haven't already
as for the cursor jumping while docked, I have THST issue also. its only happens while the touchpad is enabled. remedy for that is to press the button on dock to disable touchpad. then THST problem goes away. since you don't like touchpad, I would figure you'd disable it anyways.
GPS dongle is the solution to internal GPS. if you don't have GPS dongle, you better send off for one asap. its free and the offer ends very soon. just go to Asus website where you register your prime and fill out the GPS dongle application. then you will receive it in a week or 2.
People need to stop including GPS as a problem there's no use for it on a tablet so it doesn't matter if it doesn't work!

I would suggest you to download the .28 again, this time from the Asus Webpage, and install it from the SD Card. If you keep having those weird issues I think you got a defective Prime.
I connect/Disconnect my prime from the dock very often, and I have had none of the issues you describe.

Thats actually a feature... shift+backspace = sup.
Keyboard has multi-press functionality. There is a file around here in XDA with all the short cuts for the keyboard. (there are A LOT of them).

The TouchPad is also MultiTouch, depending on what you are doing, it IS useful. Specially if you do some precision work and need better accuracy.

1) Can't RMA it because ASUS will claim CID on it (customer induced damage) because of the dent on the corner. (I'm also not willing to wait 3 weeks just for them to mark it CID).
2) Can't return it, even if I followed the instruction of that one forum post telling you to call ASUS and tell them about not being satisfied, etc etc. PLUS it's way past the 14 day return policy, not just by a month or two, but 5. Plus what I said above about CID. You can't return a damaged product (physically) and expect a full refund.
Logic.

I've factory reset the Prime multiple times. I'm pretty sure that deletes the old data. If not, then I'll give it a try.
The cursor jumping is not the touchpad, I always have it disabled. (Else I'd be a hypocrite!)
I have the GPS dongle, and it's great, it's just that I wish that the internal GPS would have been the same.
@Zephyrot
I'll try installing from the SD Card, this wasn't really supposed to become a Q&A, but it wouldn't hurt to take advice.
shift+backspace=sup. what is that? It doesn't help when I type quickly.
Yes I realize that being aluminum that the tablet would scratch, but I'm just nitpicking at that point.
I don't find the touchpad to be helpful because anything I can do on my touchpad, I can do on my screen. Again, this was a purely opinion based point.
Multiple issue threads already... post your problems in one of those threads, instead of starting a new one, please.
Thread Closed.
I finally got around to buying a dock/keyboard and got mine today but I'm seeing some really strange things when using it.
I'm wondering if anybody has a clue what is happening to me.
Sometimes I connect the dock and they keyboard/mouse works perfectly. Other times, only the keyboard works. Sometimes, the mouse begins working after some time (like 30s); sometimes it doesn't work at all. Sometimes I connect the dock and neither the keyboard nor the mouse works.
I thought it may be a short in the connector, but I've seen things that suggest this is not the case. For example, I can press the lock key on the keyboard to lock the tablet, and then when I unlock the keyboard no longer works and its battery shows as empty. Other times, I can lock/unlock it with no problem at all.
I've tried wiggling the dock and stressing it in all directions to see if I can cause it to malfunction but once it works, it works forever until I either remove the dock or lock the tablet.
I normally use SwiftKey Tablet but switched to the asus keyboard hoping it would help, of course it didn't.
So are there any thoughts? wtf is going on with my brand new keyboard?
Also, fwiw, I know there is a mouse on/off key. That is not my problem.
Update: I cleared data on ASUS keyboard and it seems to have solved the problem. Not 100% sure yet but I haven't had any issues since.
I have the same issues. A reboot solves the problem. Factory reset solves the problem. Connecting the dock like 10 times solves the problem.
BUT.....
after a night of standby, the problems re-appear.
I've sent in my prime for RMA for this issues 2 times. 1st time they didn't do anything. Only re-connect some cable that apparently come loose on its own (****ty build quality)
I hope they fix is this time...
Unfortunately, clearing data on asus keyboard was an illusory solution. The problem came back.
I also noticed another issue. Sometimes when the keyboard seems to be functioning properly, it isn't actually charging the tablet. Talk about a weird issue. I noticed that when I'm having issues though, I can force kill the asus keyboard and redock and it works again until the tablet sleeps.
I did a factory reset on the thing, hoping it would help. Of course it didn't. To throw salt in the wounds, I didn't realize my app backup transfer failed so I lost everything. fml.
So anyway, the damn thing works probably 1/15 tries. It's so bad I packed the thing back up in the box and am considering returning it. The keyboards are so hard to find though I am not sure if I can get another.
Please let me know when you get it back from RMA. If they fix it for you I will send mine in.

umm...but the keyboard?
Also, my son dropped my prime and cracked the screen so I have to send it in for repair. I'm wondering if I should tell them about the keyboard issue while I'm at it.
You had the mobo on the tab replaced, right? Not the PCB in the keyboard?

Keyboard is working fine now.
The RMA only sais that they replaced the motherboard, not the keyboard pcb.
Wifi is working again, had to reset the router (even though all other devices were working fine).
Noticed a new LCD mura though.. so I'm sending it back again and claim my money back.
My dock only connects sometimes, usually after it's been disconnected for a while and i unlock it.
But at times i try to unlock it and it simply won't work at all.
The prime itself has no problem with connectivity it seems, it connects to chargers and to USB for file transfers no problem, it's just the dock it has a problem with.
Also sometimes it'll say it's connected but only the keys will work, not the trackpad or buttons on it.
I have tried 3 docks, one for the tf201 and two for the tf300, all have the same symptom and none offer anything more than a sporadic connection.
Having it charged makes no difference at all.
My prime has been sent back to asus twice now already.
Has anyone had a similar issue?
Running Androwook v2.0, Android 4.2.
I've already asked in the thread and no one has said that they're having anything similar, this problem also was persistent on other versions of android and even on the stock rom.
Any help is appreciated.
I'm having a similar problem. The keyboard randomly stops typing. All I have to do is detach the tablet, and put it back to fix it, but that's very annoying. It happens a lot.
I'm completely stock, and have done a factory reset, but it didn't help.

Yea i'm having the same issue kind of, for me if it's on and i disconnect it and reconnect it it will continue to work, if i leave it off for a bit then it might decide not to work, I've already RMA'd mine twice and i simply can't be bothered doing it again.
My mate has asked me to swap it for his Sony tab, not the xperia Z one the one before it, i might actually do it cos this is just getting to be a joke.
EDIT: Just had a look at the Sony tablet S section and it's like a ghost town, i think i'll be keeping my Prime until i can at least afford to buy another one, i'm getting the HTC One next over the s4, Sammy has burnt it's own bridges by not letting the UK have the octa core version.
As far as the prime is concerned, if i send it off again, I have no idea what condition it'll come back in, plus i'm doubting that it will have ICS on it like it did when i got it back this time.
