Hi, I use CyanogenMod 7.1.0 on my legend and have problem with data access. My operator doesn't require any setup for 3G internet and this worked with froyo. After flashing new rom I cannot access internet over mobile network anymore. I already checked is data trasfer on and it is. So can anyone help me with this issue. Thank you in advance...

I've never heard of a data network carrier that didn't require APNs to set up. That said, of all the networks I've been using on my Legend running CM7, I've had to manually enter each APN into their respective fields. That got it working.
Try checking your carrier's website or talk to one of their CSRs to obtain APN information.
I told tou, my carrier does not require any settings. I already used this before cm7. Not even apn name. Just turn on data transfer.

What ROM did you have beforehand? You mentioned Froyo. If it was stock, or some variant, it wouldn't require APN setup due to it coming straight from the carrier or its affiliates.
Ok, I make it works... Finally...

I'm currently using a local sim card from Thailand in my Vibrant, but I still need to enable roaming to get data connected. One would think the phone should recognize the SIM and enable data without roaming on.
Is this perhaps hard coded in these phones, and is there a possible fix?
Find the proper apn to set up

Strange, I had set them up manually before, but installed a new rom. Now for some reason it automatically setup the correct settings for data as well as MMS.
It's not giving me that warning anymore, but I wonder where it got those settings from...

Well I was too early, still get notifications to enable roaming.

Anyone else an idea? I hate to keep roaming on, one day that's gonna cost me big time.

So I flashed the revolutionRom rc1 to my phone and it went good, but as soon as I booted back up I would have service and could text and call but I did not have data?? Why did this happen?? I have since flashed back to trigger and I am running smooth.
I am running a vibrant on att network since I am an att subscriber but I picked up a vibrant for free, would this have anything to do with the problem??
Thanks in advance

So it shows two att networks but neither one give me a data connection, wifi works but no 3g or any data for that matter. Is there a way to fix this?

I currently make use of AT&T's network of Wifi hotspots because I have the minimum data plan. They're spread throughout my city so I'm able to connect when I'm out to lunch or away from my school or work's wifi network. Do custom roms still allow the device to connect to AT&T Wifi hotspots? If not, is there an app I can backup and restore using Titanium to grant access? I know many of the custom roms remove "AT&T bloat", but I would like to keep whatever software is on the i717 that allows it to connect to AT&T's Wifi hotspots for free. I tried searching but the answers were mixed and different per device. Thanks for your help!
Surom works with at&t wifi spots. Can't vouch for the others but im think they will.

Why would ANY custom rom not work? Only reason I could see is if the custom roms removes the at& t app
All the app does is connect automatically
If you didn't have it or say had a sprint phone you just have to open a browser and connect first
Noteworthy and Alpha 2 work as well.

I have an att HTC one which I unlocked and got it working with telcel here in Mexico but I cannot connect to my mobile network. Mobile data only says disconnected. I'm still running the stock Rom, rooted and running bulletproof kernel. I verified with telcel and everything is good on their end. Telcel and att use the same bands. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance. First post
Did you set up the proper APN? In settings - mobile data - access point names?
Also type *#*#4636#*#* into the dialer. Then goto phone information then scroll down and make sure ur settings are set to "gsm/wcdma/lte"

New Photon owner.
Struggling with using it on Ting. Ting itself seems great. After changing MIN and MDN, I have WiFi, text, voice and 4g. No 3g however.
I've rooted and debloated. If I use the droidx bootstrap recovery it won't boot and I have to start from a complete sbf restore (198.7). If I unlock the boot loader I lose 4g, so I then have no data, but still have WiFi, text and voice.
Anyone successfully using Ting with 3g?
Aloha.

No reason to unlock no ICS video drivers. I've been on sprint now ting. Non 4g speed is dead slow.
Put stock on my Photon Q for testing, saw 3g icon.
I'll fire up the MoPho and check.

Well, I'd like to change ROMs. Without data, I'm stuck with stock, and the deblur script has broken contacts app.
I'd really like to move to the hybrid ROM, but once installed, if I relock the boot loader it hangs. So no data or no function. I'm looking for any way out of the deadlock.
Aloha.

I haven't used Ting but I activated a Photon on PlatinumTel CDMA by doing a ##72786# network reset.
When the phone restarted after the reset Hands Free Activation ran and it set up 3G, voice and SMS automatically. It should work the same on any Sprint MVNO
You need to be on a stock ROM for Hands Free to run. Once activated you can switch to a different ROM but you will lose WiMAX when you unlock.
Yeah. Stock rom just hangs on connecting to network screen. It's already registered on Ting, so it never connects.
Aloha. Thanks for trying to help. I'm thinking I'll restore to stock and sell it.

update prl & profile
I switched to Ting. The data speeds are slow. But I found that disabling Sprint's proxies and doing periodic prl updates and profile updates greatly improve 3g speed. Yes, I get 3g yet it feels like 2g sometimes. I found my phone seems to lose data all together sometimes and I have to update profile and prl to even get any data. Kinda sucks but spending $40/month on Ting for 2 phones (Note 2 & S3) is way cheaper than spending $160/mon on Sprint. What's nice is I still get to use Sprint's crappy network. lol
I use ting and had the same problems, after the third call to them. I got an email asking me to let them know when I got home. Woke the next morning, to find my phone in the settings menu? and every thing has worked great ever senses. Don't know if they remoted in or not?
