I have tried searching this problem but found no solutions. I have a non rooted phone and no warranty so can get any thing replaced unless I know the specific fault.
I got a message from Samsung wireless kies to update to ics 4.0 so did so. Their phone installed the software perfectly with no faults that I could see. However I the battery drain was off the scale. I switched the phone off and charged it. After a full charge I left the phone switched off and the charger out the phone. The battery is contentiously draining and after a few hours i will be dead. So the phone is completely off but draining battery (I have switched it off properly).
Now also I get Sleep Of Death on my phone and the phone is so hot its ridiculous. Someone please help me as its my pride and joy and I have done a security wipe and still not helped.

What firmware version do you have?
Check in settings menu => phone info => version, and dial *#1234* into your phone.
PDA = ROM (and kernel) version is most important.
Maybe you have to flash another ICS ROM version.
Here you can find official firmware versions (non-wipe) => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
You wrote that you have already done a "security wipe".
What do you exactly meant be that?
Have you done a factory reset (wipe data) in recovery mode?
I would recommend to wipe cache partition in recovery mode (press Volume UP + Home + Power button until recovery menu appears).
If the battery drain is still remaining, install Better Battery Stats app (=> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809) to find apps, which prevent your phone from going into deep sleep.
Here is a good thread with some nice battery saving tips => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16973603
Good luck !
1: Factory reset using the code
2: flash different modem using Odin.
3: flash some other stock ics using Odin
4: flash your GB again using Odin and let it update again and hope it won't happen again.

Same problem to me, a factory reset (which means wiping all your data and settings) will gives you better battery life.
In regards to the questions I have
PDA:19100XWLP7
PHONE:19100xxlps
the firmware was is on 4.0.3
build number IM74k.XWLP7
I will try to flash the phone using the sammobile website. However Iam having issues with odin as it wont come up with id com just static will fix that first then give it a crack.
P.s I have done a factory reset and still no luck.

(For stock, non rooted)
1) Backup all your data, photos etc.
2) Under settings , look for factory reset. (This will wipe all data)
3) Setup your phone etc but dont drain the battery flat.
3) Charge phone overnight ( With phone turned off )
(Rooted)
1) Go to CWM
2) Factory reset , wipe cache partition , wipe davilk cache
3) Turn on phone, let phone settle for at least 5mins
4) Setup your phone etc but dont drain the battery flat.
5) Charge phone overnight ( With phone turned off )
If all else fails... reflash another rom
Your situation is very similar to my friend's S3. Her method was painfully charge it to 100% before she unplug the phone. After that it was working fine. It's probably due to the battery stats. I think her phone's battery stats kinda screwed up after the JB update. Anyway she managed to solve it.
The battery stats will reset once charged to 90% (if I remembered correctly.) Maybe before doing all of above, you can try to charge your phone to 100% and see if there are any problems after. There'll probably be people who will tell you to wipe battery stats on CWM but pls dont listen to their [email protected]#$.
Just try what i suggested and see if it helps.
Cheers

Okay, I've been driving myself crazy trying to find the answer to this little bootloop, and have been all over the place. So I apologize in advance if there is an elusive thread answer to this somewhere...
Here goes:
I downloaded and installed (properly) the [ [ROM] CM9 (ICS) for the Galaxy Player 5.0 USA ] by JackpotClavin. Now normally I would post my issue there, but due to me being a new member, it isn't allowed as you all know. So please bear with me.
Everything works fantastic, until I plug it in when the device is off. Then the screen and buttons light up, it shows the busy signal asterik, and gets to where it would NORMALLY show the battery next, but powers down. Now if I do something that stops the boot loop here (can't remember what right now; no internet at home) then when I plug it in, it actually boots up. But as soon as I unplug it, it kills itself as if it had no battery.
But if I plug in the device when it is already on, then it charges like normal. So I am REALLY confused here.
I already un-bricked it by myself at home when I did something dumb during the ROM restore (CWM). Set it back to stock, and it ran fine. As soon as I switch to the ICS ROM, issues
Now I did a little searching, and in the boot.log it references a "charging_mode_booting" I followed the file path, and found no file there. Now I am aware that I have little (none ) experience in android until now, so that may be normal. I would post the exact log here, but since the device is bootlooping as I type, this will have to wait until I get home again and can troubleshoot
Anyways, I hope I'm not wasting your time. Hope you can help me solve this!
Thank you for your time

Are you charging your device (while it's shut off) via laptop, console, desktop, or anything else besides a wall charger?
Look under your /system/media
There should be a bunch of battery charging files. If they aren't there, find the files from another ROM and move it there.

Ah thanks mate, that's what I did to get it to boot up while plugged in. Then it has the error here that if I unplug it, whole device shuts off as if the power was the only power source, but will reboot from the battery if I turn it back on.

Good idea, I'll get right on it and see if I have any progress.
Thank you both, cheers!
EDIT: Just looked into my system/media folder, and have all "battery_charging_#" 5-100.
Also:
chargingwarning.qmg
Disconnected.qmg
LMprec_508.emd
PFFprec_600.emd
And of course the boot animation and folders

Hello everyone ,
first thank you for all your developments.
Secondly, excuse my English but I'm Portuguese.
I spent a lot of time to read all the topics related to this problem, and I have too with my Intl Player.
Since I installed the rj 's custom kernel (r14) if my player is turned off, as I branch as a wall charger or on USB in my MacBookPro , I boot loop load as described above.
So I installed a file explorer that allowed me to see that I had none of the files in the directory system / media.
Ok, I installed adb and fastboot on my Mac , and successful (despite the write permissions only one I managed to get around) to copy the files I found there.
I was sure now it was going to fix my problem, but unfortunately, I have always this kind of boot loop charge if my player is turned off.
Apart from that , everything seems to work well , I do not even know if this is really a problem , I did not let my battery run down lest I get stuck . As long as the player stays on, no worries, battery charging well. Of course I did all the basic wipe's (data/factory, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats).
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give as much information .
If someone has an idea of where it may come again, or at least tell me if it's serious in case my battery is fully discharged .
Thank you ! :good:
Edit : actualy I have installed the [ROM][4.3][YP-G70]CyanogenMod 10.2 - M1 Release whith the KKernel R2.1 by KOala888 (My YP-G70 run super fast...).

The charging mode bootloop has been a problem since the first gingerbread custom kernels and has been a problem up until KitKat. It is solved in KitKat. There is no fixing this problem in pre-KitKat custom roms without recompiling the kernel.
Here is information about the fix:

I have answered this question before. Getting tired of explaining it.

Thanks for your answer. I understand you be tired of answering this problem ... But everything I 've read (and I read for hours and hours , really), I thought it only happened when a USB connection to a computer, not to a wall charging.
If it's just a minor bug and I can use my YP-G70 like that, it's going well, I 'm just afraid to let the battery get to the end and did not do anything. (I also read an old post that says let the battery get to 5% and then moving into CWM mode, and let it discharge completely before reconnecting to a wall charger)...
Last question, is there an kitkat "light" version of that will go as fast as the YP-G70 I installed (4.3) ?, because really outside this bug, all is so good and speed all I 'm doing it (basic use) is really fast.
Strange boot loop too with YP-G70 (4.3)
So I try to install a kitkat to see if the speed is correct.
Thank you again.

When I was running pre-KitKat ROMs, I let the battery drain completely a few times. It does charge, when it is bootlooping. I let it bootloop for a while, say 10 mins or so and then disconnected it and started it up. Then plugged it back in and let it charge the rest of the way...

Well, I installed a Kitkat's ROM ,apart from the start a little longer, everything seems to work well. (Perhaps the least stable wireless)...
I'll try to use it like that a few days and I'll see.
Thank you again. :good:
I had install a new ROM and a new CWM
But I'm very curious so i touch to "wipe battery stat", now my baterry doesn't recharche and it still 23% and continues to decrease
What can I do?
sorry for my bad english, i'm french
If it's Stock based ROM, it happens, a common bug. Try restarting your phone after charging a bit. If not, try pulling the battery out and back in.
Thanks but i already try this, and he do the same thing.
So I diside to flash one of my backup and now,
ALLELUIA He works good
This problem is already solved please ignore this and solution is below if someone is facing something similar. Thank You.
Let me tell you what exactly happened so you can tell me what is the exact problem.
Problem started when i changed my SIM card. After changing my SIM card my phone was always showing 100% battery and after a day or more sudden death of battery. Then i try to recharge it back by plugin the charger in phone off mode. First i thought my battery is OK just i have to wipe battery states and everything will be fine. So i did wipe of battery states like 100 times no change.
Then i thought may be i need to re install the OS so i did that but no change and i always noticed that every time when my goes off since it shows me 100% battery every time, my battery backup was less.
So i thought my battery is drains so fast, maybe there is some problem in my battery so i should replace it. But it tried my battery in my friend's neo V and it's working fine in his mobile showing right percentage and everything so now i want to put original GB firmware so i started installing the firmware but i think because of low battery installation process was stuck at 4% so finally i removed the cable while installation was still on now it is not even recharging in phone off mode when i connect cable to mobile (LED shows nothing). And now i can see red blinking LED when i connect cable. I think phone is all dead now.
So please guys help me what should i do ?
I solved this problem by putting battery out and in again i was able to enter into flashmode and i installed .62 firmware and finally its charging hopefully my battery is OK.
Buddy thatz kernel problem use any other kernel like lupus, suave or any other it will be fyn.. Problem is in night elf kernwl and alliance kernel so din worry ur phn battery all ok..!
Assuming uh have mt 11i (neo v)
