I recently flashed CriskeloRom V36.1 Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168836. It unfortunately mutes the notification sound that comes off when I plug in the charger or USB cable. How can I restore it?
Thank you in advance.
try going into menu-sounds-notifications and turn up the volume.

That's the first thing I did. Trust me, it's not that basic. I think there should be a file named connect_charger.ogg . but I can't find it in /system/media/audio. maybe it's deleted maybe it not even there in the first place. But thanks anyway
yes, it is there i have the sound and am running version 36.1

Can you please give me the exact path of the file and its exact name?
try /system/media/audio/ui/
it could be this file insert.ogg

I restored the whole ui folder from a CWM backup using root explorer. I love this app. The name of the file is Charger_Connection.ogg by the way. Thanks for your help.

I would like the same and I would make it myself if I knew how to unpack the .qmg file.
here you go! enjoy
EDIT: sorry, this is the vibrant Galaxy S boot. I thought i had the I9k
How would you go about installing this via root explorer?
I'm on Obsidian v5 if that helps any.
Just move the file to system/media
V5 custom vibrant

This contains a qmg file. If i rename the zip to bootanimation.zip it should work?
In case you were still waiting for a reply, no it should not work. A qmg file is a compressed video file using some proprietary format that gets played. Bootanimation.zips contain a series of images that are linked together to create an animation.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

OK, so I've flashed this, and I still get that drunken clam from Team Whiskey. Is there another location the bootanimation.zip is stored? I can see everything else as far as the Galaxy S boot and sound but it flickers in between the drunken clam. Any ideas?

I've already done that and it still pops up and I've even gone to the length of deleting everything else related to a boot image.

Don't know if you know this, but the bootsound comes from /etc/PowerOn.wav. I just renamed it to NoPowerOn to get rid of the boot sound.

check untermensch thread of the i9000 boot and shutdown animation. i have steps on what i did to get it to work on a rom modified for bootanimations.zip
whats happening is the zip you're flashing, isnt installing the qmg files to the system/media. so you'll have to push them manually with root explorer

If you move the samsungalaxy.zip file (unless that's just a flashable zip), make sure you rename it to bootanimation.zip
All it does when you move it is replace the existing one.

i noticed you are on nero v5..can you please tell me how you managed to get boot sound enabled and clam animation..that is exactly what Im trying and im stuck with a black screen and no sound..I used jbeez's korean flash that restored sound and then boots with qmg files..tried flashing bootanimatoin of clam and now nothing..no sound no animation...
for some reason I cannot drag and drop the file into the system/media folder. I am using Root Explorer. Is there something else I should know?
Select R/W in root explorer rather thn R/O
I'd love to be able to use the stock boot animation again after flashing roms.

Wht's funny is that Moto didn't even bother to add the audio file to the system/media/audio/notification folder. It is still as 2.2.2.
This just goes to show how lazy they are when they can't even update this simple thing. It may be a very minor detail, but it's the small details that make the difference.
OP, if you use the boot animation from the GB ROM and you want the boot animation audio, move att_power_opt.ogg to system/media/audio/notifications.

Maybe Motorola realized that the att_power_opt.ogg is annoying. And maybe opt stands for optional?

Yeah, guess it's optional since you need root and a file manager like Root Explorer to move it? If Moto wanted to make it optional to the general public, there would be an "option" to use it or not.

Ah ok, sorry still new to this, had to get root explorer to get access to that part of my phone.
it works, but it doesn't repeat the animation. How would I make it repeat that? Also, any possible way to add unlocked to the boot animation so it doesn't just disappear when it boots?
You will need to set permissions!
See the original file on your /system/media dir...

I'm not exactly sure this is in the correct section but here goes... I have downloaded different boot animations, replaced the bootanimation.zip file using file expert, made sure the permissions were the same, but when I restart my phone, i keep getting the same old factory one. Is there an extra step that I'm missing?
I forgot to mention, that I am rooted. I thought it was the file explorer program, to I downloaded root explorer, and when I tried to change the name of the original bootanimation.zip, it says that it cant because the file system is read only. Could it have something to do with my problem?

mount the system as R/W before you do anything in /system. it's at the top of the screen in root explorer.
Thanks, that did it. But now instead of the one I downloaded, all I get is the word "android"
NVM I got it now thanks again
I noticed that after upgrading to lastest OTA that the bootanimation sound doesn't play, even the stock AT&T one. The sound files are present, but they just don't play.
Any suggestions?

yes, but it will be played only if mentioned so in the desc.txt inside the bootanimation.zip at /system/media/
it is unnecessarily complicated now by changing the location to the new one while the config file resides in bootanimation.zip which originally remains at the same old place.
Because GSM/Non-US versions of the RAZR do not get that nice animation.
CONFIRMED: This bionic bootanimation works for all our RAZR's.
INSTRUCTIONS
Use Root Explorer
Copy bootanimation.zip & droidhd.ogg to system/media
Change permissions to rw-r--r--
Reboot & Enjoy!
Credits to kraziekc for the original thread, I only tested and confirmed this file works on our RAZR's.

right, the paths are absolute. yes you need a file manager or terminal emulator. no, there isn't since nobody created one.

Hello everyone.
The main thread for CM12 was closed and so I will be posting the modded mixer_paths.xml here. It will boost headphone volume and speaker volume. Be careful.
UNZIP, the xml is inside. XDA won't let me upload straight xml files. Dum.
Just drop it in /system/etc and fix permissions. Done!
Remember to make a backup of your original.
Thank you so much for this. Works great
Sent from my LG-ls990 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks for this. I tried it out and had distortion on music and video. Seems to be just a tad bit to loud. I ended up reverting back to stock.
I was just getting on here to ask for this. And here it is. Good work my friend.
Great Develoment
Not a total newb, but where do I need to go to fix permissions after pasting the file in system/etc?
It depends on your file browser. I use root explorer, just long press the file and it will be an option.
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
I'm using root browser, and I see options for permissions, but it's to change them for owner, guest, and others. Not sure what they are supposed to be set at, and whether the setting should be for the file I'm moving, the etc folder, or the system folder. Messed around with them but the volume isn't changing.

awesome , thanks
Please forgive my noob/ingorance here...but I need some help.
I use ES Explorer (with root enabled) and I have no problem unzipping, grabbing the xml file & pasting it in /system/etc file.
My question is, how exactly do I then 'fix permissions' ?
Thanks in advance.
Please disregard previous post, got it & it's working great! Thank You

What file explorer are you using? I asked a question here days ago and - while trying to figure this out for myself - ended up in one of my "efforts" with your same situation. I finally got this to work and may be able to help you.
I redownloaded the file and installed and now works great, must have been a bad download.

Download a root browser. I use fx file Explorer. Click on the system partition and grant it root permissions open up the etc folder and overwrite the mixer_path.xml in there. After that long click on the mixer_path.xml and click details, then click where the permissions are and set them to 0644 then Reboot. Make sure to set the permissions correctly otherwise you won't have sound or end up in a bootloop. Make a nandroid before you do this so incase something happens you can revert back to that.
Edit: download it on your phone and extract it and follow the steps above. No need to do it through a computer. It can all be done from your phone.
Sounds twice as loud, thank you!
