Roms on the 2 devices? - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Alright, I know this will sound weird but I have my reasons for asking:
Is it possible a flyer rom would run on the Evo View? I know it seems unlikely but the only difference -should- be the CDMA radio and a few kernel files missing for the CDMA / Wimax radio but aside from that there should be no difference. So is it possible to run a Flyer rom on my evo view 4G? I know some devices with similar architecture can run the same roms (My friend had a device that was able to run Desire roms) just need to know if I can run one of the honeycomb flyer roms.

When I first got the view I thought they would run the same Rome but apparently not. I used to have a xoom and both the wifi and the lte version both used the same Rome so I don't know why that's not the situation here

Thanks for the info.

I have read that the bluetooth stack is not same as og evo. I am curious if anyone had info on this. If it its true it might and I stress might allow us to use bt devices such as wii or ps3 controllers. Now with full hdmi mirroring this could make for the ultimate gaming phone for those into emulation. What are ur thoughts?

Sheer joy, if it's true.
Any knowledge or opinions would be much appreciated.

i use a wiimote on my evo4g now. Just have to run an AOSP rom not SENSE.
I love the idea of emulating from my phone like I do now, playing Final Fantasy 3/6, 7, Tactics with a wiimote is already epic on the phone, couldn't imagine on a huge TV so easily now too. I ned a tv worth it though.
I have not found any custom roms I trust enough to void my warranty for. I have ran cm6 and cm7 and I did like them but as many phones as I have went through especially my hero last year ill stick with stock sense and hope evo 3d will allow such bt devices such as wii or ps3 remotes to work

what does the thread title and the OP have to do with each other?
The Evo 4G supports bluetooth profiles like A2DP for wireless stereo headsets, and FTP and OPP (object push) for file transfers. But when it comes to connecting an interface device, it does not support bluetooth HID (human interface device) profiles. It only supports SPP (serial port protocal).
Which is why things like the MSI BGP100, and the FreedomPro Keyboard work with it. Both of these devices use SPP bluetooth profiles. Drivers were created and released in the market, and a stock Evo 4G can connect to these.
Everyone blamed the HTC Sense interface for why we couldn't connect HID devices, (Wii Mote, and several keyboards, mice, etc). Which is why the OP mentions Sense 3D, because he still thinks it was sense that did it. It wasn't actually Sense that did it. HTC just never built bluetooth HID profiles into the phone.
AOSP roms don't have sense, but they are also built from ground 0, so they have HID profiles built into them. A lot of people have mistakenly thought that it was taking Sense completely out, that brought bluetooth HID back in, but it was really just coincidence.
For example, iPhones don't come with HID profiles, but someone in Cydia released an app that alters the bluetooth stack for you, and adds additional profiles. Theoretically, someone could have done this for the Evo 4G, but no one has yet.
That being said, I have seen several sites, including HTC's own, showing bluetooth HID under the specs for the Evo 3D. This isn't something I was ever able to find for the Evo 4G.
Don't quote me on it, but I am banking on all the WiiMote apps, bluetooth keyboard apps, and any other bluetooth input device, working properly with the Evo 3D right out of the box.
Thank you bradley. that is exactly what I was curious about. u answered my question and educated me at same time. that was much appreciated.

Bluetooth stack support wiimotes?

There was some speculation after the initial announcement that the evo 3d's bluetooth stack would support bluetooth hid and hence wiimotes. I looked at htc's site and don't see hid support mentioned. This is very important to me especially in the light that we may not be able to put cm7, which has a fully functional bluetooth stack, on the evo 3d.
Is there any way to tell from any of the system dumps if the evo 3d supports hid?
Anyone comment? I had originally seen something showing it did have it, on HTC's own site, but it has since been taken down.
It's a dealbreaker for me.
Who knows if this site has their facts straight, but it's shown here with BT HID. http://www.phonerated.com/cell-phone.php?phone=htc+evo+3d
I wonder what the problem is!?
Is this fixable by going AOSP route?
Or Honeycomb?
Or do we have to wait for icecream sandwich... it's just sad what a downgrade in usability features e3d is from the evo og.

The og evo didn't support wiimotes out of the box either. Wiimotes would work on cm6/7 and possibly other aosp roms as well. Htc is still using a crippled bluetooth stack on the evo 3d. Once cm7 is released for the 3d I'm sure it will support wiimotes though.

HTC BlueZ bluetooth stack won't even work with cars that have BT 2.x, ie, all cars older than 2010.

[Q] Bluetooth (Wiimote) Issues Cleared up in Sense 3.0?

Hi all,
I was searching the forums, but didn't see a clear answer to this:
Will Sense 3.0 correct the known bluetooth stack issues? (Wiimote's not connecting.) If not, does anyone know if HTC is planning on correcting the issues in an update? If not....does anyone know where we could petition HTC to do so?
Are there any TB ROMs, other than CM7, that work with the Wiimote now?
Thank you!

yes, most emulators like snes9xEX for instance allow you to use the wii controller. It's really a great feature. However it's incompatible with the Sense bluetooth drivers, so it doesn't work with HTC phones.
Hopefully someone knows the answer to at least one of those questions. Basf m just released a sense 3 rom. I'll have to try that

I too was very interested to know this. I just tested it on an HTC Sensation, and I'm extremely sad to say that it does not work. I really wish HTC would fix this but I don't have my hopes up.
Cheers.
Anyone know a good bluetooth substitute we could use instead of a wii mote?
Just to clarify, the wii mote stuff works fine on my TB with CM7...but data and wifi don't...

i used CM7 when i wanted to sync my wiimote. i dont think your gonna have much luck with syncing it to a sense rom though.
Bluetooth is borked on sense in general A2DP has dropping issues and it has issues syncing phonebook data to car bluetooth systems. Cm7 / aosp does not have these issues.

I installed wiicontroller just to test on VirusROM 6/23 build w/Sense 3.0 and it's a no go. I love Sense 3.0, but the fact that this is possible SixAxis controller makes me want to switch back to CM7. That's so bada$$ to whip out your Dual Shock controller and play Street Fighter. On another note, I highly recommend using FPSE. Let me know if you want the APK.
No, even on the 3d which has the improved BT3 stack the drivers are not there to connect to PS3, controllers etc.

[Q] Porting from View to Flyer and Vice Versa

Aside from CDMA vs GSM radios, how close in hardware are the other components in the devices?
They look to be exactly same specs...
So, I guess I'm wondering how hard it'd be to port LeeDroid's Awesome HC ROM for the Flyer to the View. I've ported Sense ROMs in the past, but it's been a while. =-) I have several Views and a Flyer.
My logic behind this is simply for his excellent phone functionality and the mods he's done on HC to make it work. And, since I'm certain the radio IS crippled in our View, I'd only be using it for outgoing cellular calls.
Any devs have any input?

I know the differences in the cell side of it.
I meant porting the ROM from one device to the other. I have both devices, the P510E (GSM T-Mo flyer) and a View.
LeeDroid's excellent HoneyComb ROM has full phone support via speakerphone. I want to port it to the View, with his permission of course.
SO: are they exactly the same device, other than the Cellular Radios?

Motorola Radios -> Ubuntu Touch

What would be the best way to get communication between the radios (CDMA) and the operating system?
I ask this since after all the Ubuntu Touch operating system is based upon Android.
Or is it mostly because the RIL's (Radio Interface Link) are proprietary to Android?
This is mostly just a question why it hasn't been integrated yet amongst the community for *any* device regardless of what radio (CDMA or GSM) a device has.
It'd be nice to try something new but I still have to have my phone as a phone lol.
