Sound Manager from the market fixes audio issues like that, but you'll want to double check the settings menu of your messager. In the messager press menu, and make sure show notifications in status bar is checked.
If it is from your android desktop press menu, settings, applications, manage applications, the all tab and locate messager. Clear the data.
Go from there.

Messaging --> Menu button --> Settings --> Notification settings, Notifications Display message notifications in status bar (deselect)
Sorry I perhaps should have been a bit more specific. Now this actually disables message notifications altogether. I'm not sure if its a bug or not? I still want to know i've got a txt, I just don't want it to display the entire contents of the txt in the status bar once it is received.

Hey Folks, is there a way i can replace the stock Messaging app with goSms, on my first page on my phone it has the stock meeaging app, but i cant replace it
Launch your app tray from your home screen and press the menu key. Select edit. Drag the stock SMS app off, drag GoSMS on. Select the menu key again and then select save.
What do you mean launch the app tray?
I have TouchWiz btw.

The blue icon that says Applications on the dock next to the icon you want to replace opens your app tray.
Ohh that lol
Sorry
Thanks buddy, all sorted now.
Much appreciated.

Thats wierd I dont see any notifications besides your alarm and the bar to the left that says u have more notifications....why dont u drop down the top bar and see what they are. once u clear those notifications, the bar to the left will disapear...unless u have a crap load of stuff showing on the top bar....
Enable notifications from quick panel, 6th option if you scroll to right

So I get a preview of my text message on my lock screen. Then when I tap the message a large empty box appears below it but doesn't do anything.
What is this box for?
swipe up from the box and it'll take you to your message
How do you disable the text preview?

Any way to skip this step?
The box seems like it would be a little reply widget.
i'd like that, but i what i would like more is just tapping the notification to go to messages.
