Good morning everyone
Seems to be that my GSII has serious issues running his stock rom (continuous reboots, not-working 3g etc.). I tried several factory resets, but nothing worked 100% . CM fixes some of my problems, but the only full-working custom rom is MIUI, that seems to be stable and very neat. Despite that I still prefer the custom rom (yes I'm probably insane), or a more traditional one like CM and I really would like to understand what kind of problems can generate such a massive amount of errors and reboots.
Could be a hardware problem? MIUI works fine, I can't explain why I still got problems with other ROMs.
Sorry for my bad English, thanks in advance
Without telling us the version of the stock rom you are using, we can never give you any answers.
I'm currently using
2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513 [email protected] #2 Kernel
Gingerbread.xwkj3 Build
That's not the original stock ROM, just one I found (here on xda I guess...)
Is there some kind of hardware-check I can run by myself, just for exclude manifacturing defects?
if you want to check to exclude hardware defects, u could go to the dialer and press *#0*# .. it will give u a list of tests which allows u to pinpoint any hardware defects ( if it exists) .... but if the problem is with the 3g, you could reflash your modem..
Initial problems were strictly connected with 3g's use, after a few hours of use i've noticed slowdowns using sms, then it started crashing and random rebooting. That's the same reason why I initially switched from original ROM to CM. I mean, I know that Samsung's ROM is not the best one at all, but I can't figure why it's so instable on my device.

As that the oldest stock rom try a newer one .

Updating: now my GSII works with latest stable Cyanogen, except for the 3g that's still not working. Should I reflash modem, as suggested by roophz?
That old kernel is known to cause random reboots.
Update to a newer stock rom.

Update 2: I switched from the old stock rom to the latest cyanogen stable version, then to a newer stock rom and then back to MIUI again. Still no life signals from 3g.
How is that possible?

Hi Sergei !
I use DSC from beginning. It is the best ROM.
I just wt to ask
Until now I already update .64b. I have no problem with all troubles such as wifi,reboot,camera...
Which kernel I should install? the original with upd0.64b or DSC_teamXX or GXkernel...
Bz i got confused about many of kernel
I need stability and long life battery for normal using.
Anyway thank a lot for the DSC rom from yr team
Appreciated that
Larry
For 0.64b I used the kernel that was provided. Prior to that I used GKernel 1.5, since I never had any luck with using the GXKernels on my device.
Good day to you!
Stable kernel is always included in our ROM.
We provide and test different kernels, but only tested and stable version goes into release.
First of all.....
Like many of us, we just wanted a solid/stable custom ROM and I couldn't be more grateful for the fine work Greg and _n0p_ are/have been doing.
I love DSC above the rest, but I too have the Wifi freezes, and have them with nearly all GB-based ROMs.
However, when I first went to GB from DJ_Steve, I didn't have Wifi issues. Unfortunately, everything else went wrong, so I searched for a better ROM. Ultimately, I installed Longhorn, with the BB and kernal. At that point, I started seeing Wifi troubles. After that point, every GB-based ROM gave me wifi freezes.
I've been following and installing the DSC updates as you release them, and each time, the freezes come back.
Each time, I go back and re-flash the GXkernal1.0, and all seems right. I may get a freeze on that kernal at some point, but I haven't had one yet. The other kernal updates gave me freezes within a few hours of installation.
Sorry for the tome, but suffice it to say, IMHO, GXkernal1.0 has been the stablest kernal for me.
Thank you. You gave a new idea.
Hi Sergei,
Good news!
I am using DSC0.64b+kernel 2.6.35-14-DSC-Team-Phoenix+ from yesterday until now. So far it is fantastic. I have no FC, no reboot, no prbl with wifi...
I were supprised why many people get wifi prbl.
Anyway thank u and yr team for DSC.
Yes, I have the DSC-Team-Phoenix kernal in right now. Installed this morning, got a wifi freeze a couple hours later, but battery too low to flash back to GXKernal1.0. So far so good on Phoenix. I'll reflash GXKernal1.0 later when/if I get another wifi freeze.
But yes, got wifi freeze on Phoenix too.
Hi _n0p_,
I saw in yr build.prop has 1 line:
#wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=120 instead of wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=120
might be it cause of wifi problem?
When I change that line, i have no problem at all with all yr DSC roms.
Sorry if that is wrong.
Larry
Hi all,
Until recently I have been having very unstable results with my SGS2 (gt-i9100), every time the phone would freeze, overheat, use most of the battery in 2 seconds (figuratively speaking that is) or rebooting itself.
Some people on this forum told me to try a different kernel or roms, something I did and well no real improvement, I tried combinations of ressurection remix, omega and kernels such as siyah and dorimanx (I tried more but these are the ones I still remember by name)
Luckily (or unfortunately) I love my phone and android so I didn't really want to change hardware.
Couple of weeks ago, I figured that maybe I should try yet another rom and... SUCCESS!!
Ever since flashing AOKP milestone 1 everything is the way it should be (well to be honest first thing I always do when getting a new phone is rooting it and getting a new rom, so I am not sure how "normal" out of the box operating of an android is :silly
So basically my question to you is:
does the instability have anything to do with the kernel? currently using 3.0.31-cm-00008 (which incidentally, is that CyanogenMod?)
if it is related to the kernel, anyone has any suggestions to make dorimanx/siyah work (as they seem to be pretty popular here on xda, I'm guessing it has more to do with me)
and less kernel related, if a rom is AOKP based (or CM or whatever), does that mean that this rom has all the bugs from the base + the things the specific rom has?
Thanks!

1. May or may not be, usually it's kernel related, yeah that is the usual kernel made for CyanogenMod
2. The latest dorimanx does work fine with xwlsn and so does the latest siyah for xwlss.
3. An AOKP rom has different frameworks and usually is more buggier than stock rom, because of closed source codes (blame Samsung) several features are disabled or improperly functioning.

Hey I flashed CyanFox 2.0.2 (CM11 / KitKat 4.4.2 based) and I've been experiencing constant signal issues.
One moment I have full bars and the next no signal at all. It happens randomly: during calls, while tethering, when on stand by.
I've tried different basebands / modems (MS1, MS2, MS4) but I couldn't find a fix.
Any ideas? I can always go back to stock JB but I really dig this KK rom, it's almost flawless otherwise.
Thanks
Make a backup of kitkat rom and try stock rom or some other rom stock rom is in my signature included stock kernel and modem. If it is working then its not a hardware problem then try maybe some other kitkat rom.
The link to stockrom in my signature is from xwms1 but i dont know or the moden works in every country

Did you check out calling anyone or receiving a call? Maybe its just the icon problem.......
In the end I flashed a stock 4.1.2 rom and the problem persisted, so I guess this is a hardware issue.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I had the exact same experience with my wife's phone that I bought of ebay. I even flashed a variety of RIL's (radio interface layers) and different modems. I'd never had the problem with my SGS3 before, and have hundred of different roms on it.
Anyway it seemed to be a kernel issue and after trying ever combination possible I found that wifi would always work perfectly on any stock based rom or any CM based rom (assuming that hey used the CM kernel). It wouldn't even work on a CM rom if I flashed a different kernel such as Yank's, Boeffla or Googy.
Also at the time I trawled the net looking for answers and found one or two others that had the same issue, but could still use stock Sammy or CM. Strange... almost felt like it was an odd batch.

Good Morning People: I have an issue with my Razr XT910. I ve just installed Slimkat V 3.8 (and before 3.4, 3.2 and 3.1) and in all versions i lost signal after a few hours. The only way i have to get it back is rebooting my cell.
I did all the wipes, I delete the cellbroadcaster.apk but the result is the same.
Any ideas? Besides that, the rom is incredible...
Thanks for your help!
Try other rom and see if you have signal problem.
Same problem
I have the same problem on my XT912, I also did all of the wipes (multiple times) and I am still losing service. I have flashed a pacman and carbon rom to test and have not lost service with those roms. I am a n00b as far as contributing to tweaks for roms but hopefully I will come across something. I hope this info is helpful.
