Well i know i bought i9100 (international) from VIPnet (Croatian network), but i don't know what't the diference between this forums:
Galaxy S II Original Android Development - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1058
and
Galaxy S II Android Development - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1204

@ android167
want to know the difference with a bit of fun?

Something else to note: there are GT-I9100G ROMs in this forum too. Make sure you don't flash one of those. The GT-I9100 and GT-I9100G have different hardware, so ROMs are incompatible between the two.

[Q] samsung galaxy s2 reception problems pls help

hello,
I am hoping someone can help me here. I bought galaxy s2 (brand new) on ebay few months ago. The seller was from usa and i live in australia. The phone does not have a reception most times. I get a circle with a line across display. I am with vodaphone and i have tried using other sim cards from different providers. It seems better with tpg. I have tried contacting the seller on ebay but they have closed the site now i am stuck with a phone j cant use and $580 down. I will appreciate a solution to this problem
Thanks
What version of the SGSII do you have?
What are the ROM details?
Go to Settings -> About Phone.
Generally how is reception (ie with other phones)?
I assume that the phone has been unlocked.
Is it only Vodaphone that is not getting a signal or is it only TPG that is getting a signal?
Flash an Australian CSC (make a titanium backup!) and flash a new modem.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Let us know some details. As you said the phone seller was from USA, then the phone will have the baseband and CSC for USA. You need to flash an Australian ROM on the phone

Before doing any flashing, double check and make sure you have a GT-I9100 and not one of the USA specific variants instead.

Sounds like you just need to find some Telstra modems for I9100 and flash them.
Props to whoever suggested you double check model though, as there are no less than 8 different models of Galaxy S II that can be operated in the US that I know of. Only 4 of which are actually sold by US carriers.

Thanks, on the settings - about phone it says it is I9100. Could someone pls tell me exactly what do i need to do? How do i ensure it is the correct model and how do I flash CSC for Australia. Would it be better to take it to a mobile repairer in Australia instead? I found a person that quoted $60 to $120 to repair it. Just don;t want to spend more mpney on this phone if I can do it myself.
I apologise for trouble but some step by step info would be really good.
thanks all for your responses tho.
you dont need anything until you try 2 3 things....
1: flash GB la2/la4 official rom via odin.
2: after flash and boot, dial *2767*3855#
3: read read read..... the following thread.

Mine is a i9100T but in about phone it says i9100. That's because I flashed an i9100 rom. The best way to confirm model is on the sticker under the battery.
If it is an i9100T you will need to flash a T model modem for decent reception. In Australia, both the Telstra and Vodafone models are i9100T.

Yes I know but he mentioned that in 'about phone' it says i9100. So does mine but it's a T. So to be 100% sure it's best to check the sticker. The T model is also sold overseas in a few countries like New Zealand, Israel, Thailand.

not sure about you and i9100, but once iv flashed i9000 rom on my i9000T and it ended up as i9000 everywhere.
but i9000 and i9000T were same hardware.
meaning unless you flash i9100 on i9100T it will say i9100T. and with my experience with galaxy S, i9000T was branded. flashing unbranded make it i9000

Correct about the flashing part. But both are not exactly the same. I have i9100T but with i9100 firmware. So it shows in settings and boot as i9100. Both are exactly the same except for reception radio. For me on Optus / Virgin Australia, if I don't flash a T modem after installing i9100 firmware I get very poor reception and no 3g. I have to run a T model modem.
So my point is that as we are attempting to help the OP sort out his reception issues, he needs to confirm 100% whether his phone is a i9100 or not. Just checking I'm settings doesn't prove anything. If it is then the modem is not the issue and it could be hardware or something else.

Please help me

Hello,
I would sincerely appreciate if someone shed some light for me on what the Baseband version of my phone means.
I bought my phone outside of my wireless provider (Canada - Telus) 2nd hand.
It's running baseband XXKG2 (see attachment).
I want to upgrade to to ICS but I can't find an ICS with that Baseband.
What is the baseband? Do different Baseband phones differ in their hardware?
How can I upgrade to ICS? (phone is rooted).
Appreciate all the help!
Thanks,
Vitaly
It doesn't matter - baseband is the modem. You won't ever find an ICS version that matches, because any ICS firmware will contain a newer baseband/modem than XXKG2.
Just download any official ICS firmware for the I9100, any will work. (Just make sure it's for the I9100, and NOT for the I9100G) Though you'll lose root once you flash it.
Although... you should probably read some stuff, seems you need to know some basic knowledge before I'd recommend you start flashing anything.

Thanks for the reply.
So the baseband is a software version of the modem?
When I get my ROM I should be mostly concerned with localization, right?

Perhaps you should read that which I linked you to....
I looked through all these threads and while they did clarify some things, they mention nothing of the baseband version.

One of my previous replies, I said "baseband is the modem"... Then your immediate post after that was "So the baseband is a software version of the modem?" I wasn't answering that question, since I had already answered it, and didn't think it needed clarification. I guess I was wrong. Yes, you can think of it that way.
My suggestion of reading what I linked you to was for your other question.
You can also find nearly any answer to just about any question you can think of in the roll-up sticky in the General section.
My suggestion is to look under the battery on the info sticker which model you have. If it says GT-I9100M, go to Sammobile.com, download the ICS for that phone, UGLD3 and install it through Odin. If you bought it in Canada, there are good chance that it is a I9100M and not a I9100. There is no hardware difference between the two model but the UGLD3 firmware is made specifically for the 9100M model.

His screenshot in post 1 shows model number GT-I9100, not M.
EDIT: actually, your advice is good. He said that he bought the phone second hand. So it could be an I9100M with I9100 firmware installed. Sticker label under the battery is a good way to know for sure.

Yes thats the issue with the 9100M, with a I9100 firmware, only the sticker can really tell us if it is a I9100 or a I9100M.

As far as I know, functionally there is no difference between an I9100 and an I9100M. Just the bootscreen, about phone info, and build.prop. Which is why I9100 firmwares and ROMs work on an I9100M.
Thanks
Thanks for the answer guys.
I checked the sticker and it is indeed a regular GT-I9100.
So any 9100 ICS ROM will work? Just pop something localized to North America?
Thanks again for the help - wonderful community.

If it's an i9100, and not an i9100M, I'd use an i9100 firmware. Those are mostly localized anywhere BUT North America. Mine's running a Poland firmware, and I'm currently using it in the States.

can i flash i9100t roms to i9100

I live in Israel and I want to flash official israeli ics rom to my galaxy s2 i9100 ....is it possible?
No. You would brick the phone.
Sent from my Galaxy S2 GT i9100
But there's no hardware differences between this versions as I know only different modems so the 3g would work normally...so why should this brick my phone?
Australian/Oceania variants
GT-I9100T
The GT-I9100T (sold by Vodafone Australia and Telstra, and some carriers around the world except Europe and the Americas) is virtually identical to the I9100 and is functionally equivalent. There are claims on the XDA-Developers forum that this variant there are some differences in software, giving slightly better performance in the 850 MHz WCDMA band.

Info taken from wiki. In theory seems yes, but you don't have to. Your phone will work with any ROM designed for i9100.

YES, it is possible.
Do the following when flashing such Roms:
1. Backup your present ROM just incase.
2. Do normal wiping necessary before just like you want to flash a new ROM (just ask for help if you don't know what I'm talking about)
3. Flash the ROM
4. Flash back your modem (also known as baseband version)
5. Flash an I9100 custom kernel e.g Siyah or speedmod (don't flash any CF-ROOT kernel)
6. Fix permissions (under advanced)
7. Reboot your device.
All should go on as expected
Good luck

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1(P5100 with 4.0.4) no root, update to JB?

Hey! Is it possible to update to one of the 4.1.1 PDAs from sammobile . com (say Germany) even if my device is not from there? If it is do I have to root the device or is Odin enough? My current build is BUBLH2.
For downloads from sammobile just Odin is good. But what country variant does your tab have? It is not advisable to flash a different version....
And this is wrong forum.... You may not get good suggestions here. Above given are general advise.

Hey thx for the response. My tablet is from Romania Vodafone. So I shouldn't flash a german version of JB?
No I think you might brick your device.... Better confirm with a developer of your device...
My advice would be, if you're a looking for a stock update wait for one from your carrier. If you re a people user, get a good customers m rom.
I suppose xda has got a separate Dev portal for you device...

Query about international s3

Hey peeps just a simple question, I have the galaxy S3 I9300T and live in Australia is this classed as the international version.? Also when I look for roms do I look for I9300T version or is I9300 good enough? Cheers

question answered many times, the T-Model is equal to the I9300, it just has some specific modems, but even here you can use modems from the I9300 as the T-Model modems are just more optimized for 850mhz frequencies. Hence you can use I9300 roms & modems on the T-model.
