Probably not easy to flash back original modem .

There are loads of threads that have lots of different modems up for download. Just download one, put it on the Internal SD, and flash it with CWM. It's trial and error which one works best for you.

I can't get out of CF Recovery, no matter what I do, and NONE OF THE OPTIONS IN THE RECOVERY MENU WORK AT ALL. I can't reboot from it, apply zip, shut down.... nothing.... lierally~
so...
I want to Odin to a stock ROM, maybe KH3, but where are the Odin flashable ROMs?
Search is utterly useless for 90% of the real questions most people have these days in XDA... it doesn't return properly targeted answers the majority of the time... not even close.
Any help would be appreciated.
Can I Odin to any KH3 ROM without screwing up my carrier lock?

Have a look at the xda bookmarks in my sig. There's links there for branded and unbranded official ROMs.

Can I use a non-carrier branded ROM on a locked device?
I'd prefer a generic ROM.
Do I need to flash the PDA, Phone, and CDC files at the same time and are they located in these ROM files?
Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can flash an unbranded ROM. As for what to flash, it may be different from ROM to ROM, so just make sure you fully read at least the 1st post on the thread you download from. Everything you need to know will be in there.
I'm guessing you'll only need the PDA tar file.
That did it, my friend!
Thanks so much!
I haven't communicated with you since the days of the HD2.
It's been a while.
I'm up and running the stock KH3 and all is well.

Glad you got it sorted mate. And yes, it's been a while. There's quite a lot of the HD2 crowd in this forum now. We know the best devices when we see them
Hi!
My current phone is:
Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 which is rooted.
ROM: RootBOX 1.5
kernel: Fluxi 3.0.36
current modem: XXLPR
My question would be, can I change the modem just like a random fleshable .zip ? Do I need to perform FULL WIPE? I tried to look up in the forum but only found solutions for non-rooted phones.
Please help
Regards,
Yes. Most modems are CWM flashable. Do a Google search & append XDA to your search terms ("SGS2 CWM modems", etc...use your imagination). Here's a link to a thread that has a bunch of modems to get you started.
Edit - No wipe, clear cache or clear Dalvik required when you flash a modem. Simply boot into CWRecovery, flash the modem, reboot. Done.

yes u can flash the zip files of modem thro recovery without any issue, and no need to do full wipe, and also the modem will not wipe anything on ur phone.
after flashing a modem please see it settles down by allowing it for a cpl of days

Thank you both for your quick replies!
Hmm now could you suggest me which one to choose? It seems there are so many of them... My main aim for this modem change is to save as much battery as possible.

They all work differently depending on your location. One that works well for someone else may not work well for you. Try each one for a while to find one that works well for you.
Eventually I have downloaded the latest XXLPR modem.
Runs pretty good.
Thanks guys!
Uslpg is the best as per me

Okay but all I9100 modems are "inter-flashable" right? Which brings me to the question, why flash another modem at all? I mean logically the stock modem is meant for my region and should be, at least theoretically, the best for my phone.
Theres nothing wrong with reviving old threads as its better than opening up new ones.
Youve just got to try out different modems and kernels and see how your phone performs with the permutations youve chosen.
I was flashing a rom but I think I did it from the download folder instead of the root. Now is completely dead. Can't get it into download mode or recovery. I've tried diferent ways but no luck.Any suggestions?
Thanks
u can flash roms from any folder, that should not be a problem. You might have flashed a rom for a different model of S3.
Which model S3 do u have?

A guess based on previous posts .
You do not have a I9300 as per this forum but may have flashed I9300 firmware on a different model and bricked it .
Reason prev posts not International 9300 but another model .

Try some modems (and don't ask 'Can I use I9100 modems on my I9100G'). Start with the ones bundled with stock roms released by your carrier. If none of those help, try any/every modem you can get your hands on. How to find them/flash them ? Search.

I was using the S2 with Jelly Bean. I found the phone to heat up very quickly around the camera lens and top of the phone rather than when running on Ginger Bread. I then installed the Resurrection Remix Custom ROM v5.1.3 with KitKat 4.4.2.
But the heating problem is still there. Checking online I found out that the modem was the problem.I found the KH3 modem was the best for the Galaxy S2. I was wondering if installing the KH3 modem was appropriate on Custom ROM or can modems be installed only on Custom ROM???
If it can be installed can anyone guide me how ... BTW I am using the phone in India ...
Please reply the overheating problem is driving me nuts.
Attatched is a screenshot showing my phone information.
You question is a bit confused (because you haven't taken the time to learn 'the basics' like 95% of people who come here), but the answer is yes. Modems are interchangeable between Android versions on the S2 & not dependent on same; I.E you can flash a modem that was bundled with stock rom that was a different Android version to the one you're currently running (whether stock or custom, makes no difference).
As to how to flash a modem....C'mon....
This is absolute basics, you should know this stuff back to front inside out if you're flashing custom roms.
In other words, search.

Usually a modem file size should not exceed 10 MB. You can even flash the modem via cwm. On xda you can find links for such files.

That's not required. Just keep a flashable file of your current modem, just in case you want to revert. I mean, download it and keep it on your phone.
For India, ddls9 also works quite well. I have seen good results on xxls8 too.

If something happens and I restore the phone from a backup of the phone , will the firmware baseband be restored or thats something else??
Firmwares are included in the backup or not??

I am not very sure about that. My guess is that it doesn't backup your modem with the rom backup.
