GB Gps Accuracy Issue! - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm wondering if the devs are aware of the accuracy issues with the GPS on GB. The accuracy reading is always 0 and it ruins the accuracy of apps that use GPS. For example, tracking with the Google Navigation isn't as accurate and it sometimes goes past intersections. In comparison, Froyo and CM7 roms have no issues with Navigation whatsoever.
I upgraded from a Captivate because the Atrix was free AND it had a working GPS. I really hope that devs could find a workaround for this issue because as much as I need a working GPS, I don't want to HAVE TO use CM7 for a fully functional GPS because I find landscape hdmi mirroring really useful.

Bump.

[Q] GPS is accurate with wifi but not data plan

Alright, so I'm not sure if this has been covered or not, used search but haven't really found anything helpful. When I'm using Google maps with my data plan (T-mobile US), I get a GPS location roughly a mile from my actual position. However, when I enable wifi, my position auto-corrects to within a few hundred feet.
I've already edited /etc/gps.conf for US usage, just wondering if there is a way I can get the GPS to work accurately with my data plan. I'd use GPS Status to try and reset it, but my android build (shubCraft 1.5 CyanogenMod) freezes up, haha.
If anybody can direct me to a possible better android build with accurate GPS or help fix mine without changing builds, I'd be greatly appreciative ^.^
I know GPS isn't fully accurate on the HD2, but I figure if the wifi can get accurate readings, why not the Data plan.
have you got the gps settings correct?
On my (UK) phone the gps is more accurate than my old Navman, and also a lot faster. It updates routs changes in about 3 seconds and is accurate to about 50 yards or less. I use IGO8, but the settings used are
Com 4
manage gps automatcally
gps hardware port none baud rate 4800
I have not used the HTC gps tool, quick gps or google maps

[Q] GPS: Effect of changing accuracy setting in LBSTestMode?

I see my Accuracy setting is 50' in LBSTestMode, which I believe is the original default value. What effect does changing this have? One problem I still have with my GPS is that, even though it locks well on the majority of birds, and is generally accurate when navigating, it still wanders when I am sitting still (like at a traffic light). If I increase the Accuracy reading to 100' does that have a benefit, such as the GPS tolerating greater wandering around before it decides I'm moving when I'm not, or what?
Not trying to be mean or anything, but just don't mess around with your GPS settings, you will just make things worse. Leave the default settings along.
The issue is hardware not software, the Vibrant GPS will never be accurate nor will it stop drifting.
You will make things worse by messing around with the default settings.
Good luck.
I've tried a few GPS "fixes" here and there, but I finally just cleared my GPS data and used the Samsung GPS Restore app... Runs better than I remember it running before I started screwing around with my settings. I rarely use my phone for navigation purposes anyway, so maybe I just haven't noticed a problem...
Hope ya find what ya need. -j
I appreciate your cautions, but I'm not doing a lot of messing around in LBSTestMode...I've got all stock settings. I've followed the issue of the Vibrant's flaky GPS issue a lot, and believe it depends on the particular phone: it can be hardware, software, settings, or any combo of these. I happen to have one of the ones that started working well about 98% of the time after the JI6 OTA update.
However, I'm still wondering what difference it is supposed to make whether the Accuracy in LBSTestMode is set at 5', 50', or 5000'. Specifically, what is the interaction of this setting with how the whole GPS system is supposed to function? I've experimented by changing it from like 50' to 100' and then back and can't see that it makes a difference. Does anyone know what the technical implications of this setting are? Thanks.

What does "Use sensor aiding" setting actually do?

Does anybody know what it actually does? Any benefit/harm to GPS tracking/navigation?
does it boosts the signal or Improves gps resection/accuracy?
Its supposed to improve ur gps accuracy but I've found that it just wastes battery and makes my gps worse....see how it affects you and decide
Works fine for me, use it always. I have a launch vibrant with hardware fix performed running Project V with stock KB5 GPS.

[Q] Camera GeoTagging Problem

Greetings!
I'm having a problem with my Camera geotagging. I'm in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. With GPS on, all my pictures are geotagged as being in Almaty Province, Kazakhstan.
Does anyone else have a problem with bad GeoLocation in pictures? Or even more important, does anyone have a fix?
I am having the exact same issue. Almaty as well. Would also be interested in a fix.
Is the GPS off in nav or other apps such as GPS Status?
What ROM are you running?
Have you tried various location settings? Turn Use wireless networks and/or assisted GPS on/off? I usually use only the GPS with the others off and get accurate locations.
I have the same, using DJ's 1.9.1 Everything on ... GPS, AGPS, wifi.
I think it's ignoring the negative on the longitudinal coordinate putting me in Kazakstan or such, rather than NY.
The GPS works fine though, so it's either the camera or the album. Has anyone checked exif data?

I'm running the stock ROM, Rogers version. I've got GPS on, WiFi usually off. I think it's only in the Camera application. Maps and Google Earth locate me fine, and the EXIF data says I'm in Almaty Province. I just tested it and it seems the Camera app is not putting in the minus sign in front of the Longitude.
Take the following coordinates: 43.64552307128906,79.37709045410156
That's where the Camera thinks I am. It's Almaty Province.
When I add a Minus in front of the Longitude: 43.64552307128906,-79.37709045410156
It finds me, in Downtown Toronto!
I'll have to experiment with different camera apps to see if any other ones do this. Any suggestions?
BlueBagodah,
That does sound like a camera app issue, but try other camera apps from the market to see if it is the app or the way that the data is passed from the Streak to the app. I have never used a third-party camera app so can't make recommendations.
I did a quick search for camera app bugs in android and didn't locate anything, but only spent a few seconds on it. you may have better luck.
I was having this problem running StreakDroid 1.9 and 1.9.1 and now on Simple Streak 1.2 things are working correctly. It was pretty annoying, Google+ even titles all your photos in Chinese because it thinks they were taken there.
camera geo location says Qamda Tibet, CN
Same Geolocation proglem over here. anyone have a fix yet?
i'm on Simple Streak 1.3 but it's been doing it since 1.2

Locking 8sec with 6meter but when I use gps status it locks in 3sec with 2meter and this is standing still, it gets closer when I move
Sent from my CM7/Glitch11.1/ec09 Fascinate
I'm on CM7, I get a lock with GPS Status in 3-5 seconds. This is the best my GPS has ever worked.
My GPS doesn't work at all.
I was wondering if any of you could help me. I'm on the latest build of CM7 with the EC09 radio, and my GPS never locks. It searches for GPS, but the arrow in the notification bar remains gray and "follow the route" appears after 2-3 minutes. I have a clear view of the sky and relatively good reception. Any ideas?
