S.E released the Open Source Files for ICS!
ICS Alpha Blog
Message:
Last week we made an Ice Cream Sandwich alpha ROM available for unlocked Xperia™ phones. The response we got was overwhelming, and we want to say a big thank you for all your great feedback and the huge interest shown! We will look through all the comments we received in the survey, on the blog post and on the video, and incorporate the input into our planning of future software and product releases. We have now also made the open source archive for the Ice Cream Sandwich alpha ROM available. In addition, the sensor HAL will also be available as open source soon.
Even though we were expecting some reactions on the Ice Cream Sandwich alpha ROM release, we did not expect such an amount of great and constructive feedback. Some of the things we have received comments on are actually already planned for coming releases (keep in mind this was only an alpha). Other things will be up for consideration and prioritisation, based on parameters such as relevance, usability, workload, resources and timing.
At this point, it’s too early to go into details about what will be included or not in future software releases, but we can share some information about the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich software release:
We’re looking into making it possible to create groups in the list of contacts.
We’re planning to ship both the Ice Cream Sandwich vanilla gallery app and our own Sony Ericsson gallery app. They both include some great features, so it will be up to you to use the one which fits your needs best.
It is our intention to include the popular swipe to write feature, currently available in our Gingerbread software.
Open source archive available now
As the headline says, we have made the open source archive for the Ice Cream Sandwich alpha ROM available. Moreover, we will also publish the sensor HAL as open source. This means you will be able to get access to sensors such as the proximity sensor, the compass and so on, through the lower software layers. This file will also be published in our open source archive.
Keep up all the good work devs!

I have my fingers crossed to have a good rom using this and we all have a good fix for the DRM that was deleted after unlocking the bootloader
just a quick question though, I have had my Neo V unlocked its bootloader using the Official Unlock which is coming from SE website, and I understand I wont be able to download latest firmware (most especially ICS) from PC Companion, but if ICS is on Wotan Server can I use Wotan instead? Or does ICS have a special program that detects that your phone has an unlocked bootloader?

You can relock your bootloader, or download the ftf from tgis forum and flash it with flashtool.

hey thanks for the information, where is TGIS btw?
I think TGIS is "this" and yes u can use wotan, I don't see why there would be a lock to ics rom due to unlocked bootloaders...

Maybe, try with the real model: X10 and not U20

May i ask something ???
My phone has 2.0.A.0.504 .. I have restore my phone with se companion and it has already by it self the new market..
2.0.2 vs 2.0 .1 its sound good maybe the froyo is the next release
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
plz can u explain this fr what this site stands fr??
I don't think so
If they release the SE PSP they will not update X10 anymore
The playstation will be released on April so End of Q1 2011 is exacly as they says so That gona be gratefull if they give as Mulit-touch. I dont sure about froyo and I dont dream about gingerbread.
That is a pesymistic thinking and more realistic because if we analize the last upadate which take all most one year I going to suspect that we will get any update next Chistmas
Really not that bothered if they never release another update as long as they unlock the bootloader so the devs can start cooking up some real good stuff.
First off, there's no info what so ever to what that firmware is about. Just because one firmware is taken off from an unofficial list does not mean the official is canceled, it is still available in EMMA so it will continue forward.. There WILL be another update, there will NOT be any cancellation to the next update.

I have an xperia x10a bought from bestbuy (att) and i have succesfully updated my phone to the Generic 2.1.1 on baseband 2.1.54 with build number 2.1.A.0.435. I am also rooted. My question is will i get the 2.3 update right away, because I am on a Generic firmware, or will i have to wait for some kind of an ftf or something?
I read around here that rooted phones are a no go, so you may want to unroot just to be safe
Yeah just in case something happens, unroot your phone. Apparently SEUS nor PC Companion will update your phone unless it's unrooted.
ok i unrooted my phone but the question was more about whether i will get the 2.3 update at the same time as everyone else because i have an att phone with generic firmware

You will get the update. At the same time as everyone else...probably not. However the good news is is once it is officially released someone here will get it and the devs will be able to create a .ftf file for everyone to have it using flashtool. So once it is officially released the devs will have it ready for us in no time...you wont have to wait for SE anymore.

Maybe pre-rooted as well?
Because I remembered when 1 of the 2.1.1 updates came and we can't root it when it rolled out, so devs made a pre-rooted ftf file.

That's unrelated. You can use flashtool to update, see the sticky in the dev section.
Have you tried updating your .fw OTA?

Flashtool.
Nice, you have brown phone. Remove battery and check on sticker on phone, most likely you will see prototype
you can try with SEUS, I don't expect it to work but you can try.
Don't know if flashtool supports brown phones, I would first ask creator of flashtool. I expect it to work, but ask first
if it says prototype, I would first check what fw is on the phone, is it branded, what region.
some prototypes can die if you flash new fw on them.

Well, not really a big worry. Some people want to have prototypes
Prototypes, from phone models which actually released, meaning you can find that phone model in store, can sometimes be final products, meaning even though they are prototypes, they can be flashed and used like other units. I have one W715, it's final version of prototype, so it can be flashed, but it wasn't in store
Prototypes, from phone models which aren't released are more likely tricky, it need to be careful with them.

If it's working as it is, and if it isn't branded fw, I wouldn't mess with it

How can i truly understand that my Xperia Sola is really relocked. Last night i could not update my phone into 4.0 with Sony update service neither pc companion nor Update Center app in the phone. Then i thought my phone is still unlocked although i flashed the key file several times via flashboot. Then i had to flash indian ics stock but feel wrong about it. I want to get stock for my country.
So, how can i handle this issue and how can i get the official ICS for my country. (It is officially released here)

1)Unlock bootloader
2)Root your device
3)Change the SI code to your country and variant
4)Relock bootloader
5)Repair via SEUS or PC Companion
Note :- SI Code gives the SEUS/PC Companion which country and which variant to download

u will know when update will be available (if there will be new firmware)
you realise the software number is actually lower than the current latest one? 4.0.2.A.0.84 vs 4.1.B.0.587
Maybe SONY release update on GB because GB latest is .62 and this .84

I don't remember saying I know the best. but Sony [Ericsson] tends to release newer firmwares for specific models with higher numbers and letters, it's always been that way (for example, in my old W810i's case R4DB001 firmware was followed by R4EA031, then R4EK001, then R4GC031 if I remember correctly; same with Android firmwares - 4.0.2.A.0.42, then then .58, .62, then 4.1.0.B.431...). also, the news just said they released the source, so maybe it's some ditched GB firmware they decided to share, as they've already moved '11s to ICS?
Maybe not a new firmware but just the device specific driver sources for the devs? That would be awesome!!!! (Just a guess)

Doesn't make much sense to me that they'd release an "update" on an obsolete OS
They should update ICS, which is the current OS.
I was thinkin', maybe they're just releasing the source code... Which doesn't mean they're gonna release .ftf or update.
But in the end who knows, we'll just have to wait and see
