Hi!
I'm wondering about what phone should I buy, and I'm really intentioned to choose SE Xperia X10 Mini, but i'm affraid that the screen is to small to many of the apps and games.
Can you give me your feedback about it?
Thank's!
As far as I'm concerned, the size of x10 mini is ideal for a phone. Of course small design means small screen.
I've been using a lot of apps the last couple of weeks since I got the phone and I'm not lacking the large screen size. Of course this is a mater of taste
Depends on what you'll be using the device for. For me, I've never got in to mobile gaming so I'm generally not bothered how a device performs/displays games. Apps-wise, I've not had a problem with the screen size for anything I've wanted to load so far. It is a small screen and the resolution is low when compared with more expensive high-end devices, but it doesn't bother me.
Thank's!
My choice is done!

Agreed!
Get the Pro because the keyboard is great and the size is not much different. Screen is fine for everything. I watch TV shows on it and its great, also web browsing is easy and not hard zooming in and moving around quickly.
I hope to use this for GPS navigation in car, screen might be a bit small for that, will test and find out...

I am planning on getting the X10 mini pro this weekend. I had prevously been using a TyTN2, QVGA screen, but about 50% larger physical size. Let's see how it goes!

What kind of app do you use to watch tv-shows? Did you find it in the market?
Screen size, resolution and processor are an ideal combination if a succussful port of android 2.2 is achieved by developers.
After rooting the phone and removing the unwanted app's, this thing cooks. The only regret I have is not buying the pro, although the keyboard does look dorky.

End of September??
No, end of september is for androïd 2.1
Nope!
Screen size is really nice!
I like the sharp screens (big resolution for small physical size)
My previous phone was nokia 5500 and player was Sony Walkman NWZ616 with 2.5" screen with QGA(320x240). Image looks really good on all of these devices!
Pro with HW keyboard is very good and size of the x10 mini/pro is real size of a phone, not the big fat TV/game-pad.
I currently have a HTC Magic but I am getting annoyed with the lack of decent stable roms for it so I have been shopping around and for my budget I have a choice of either an X10 mini or the new X8 but wanted to find out which would be better as I understand the X8 is like the X10 mini but with a bigger screen and a lower camera
Dony buy either of the phones as they are dum.
I was a xperia x1 user and my x1 stopped working as it had gone in water.
I bought a x8 and my friend also had saved moey to buy a x10 mini pro.
But let me tell you that its nor worth thr money you are spending and the X1 had 13 buttons on the front bottom the xperia just had 3 buttons on the front bottom.

With a alternate Homelauncher (f.ex. ADW) you can bind the middle key with the dialer if you are already at the homescreen.
...and for the X8 and X10 use the sony-ericsson.com comparison tool and try to look at the phones at a market.

Sorry to sound dumb but isn't the X1 a WM device? the 2 I asked about are both Android devices I only ask about these 2 devices as I hate WM and Apple iOS. My other oprion is to strech my budget for a HTC Wildfire (all of these handsets would be pay as you go)

I have looked at the comparison charts but I am more interested in 'real life' comparison rather then a spec for spec comparison

i had also a x1 wm phone, and now i have x10 mini pro and had x10, x10 mini and htc wildfire....
If you will have a small phone get the mini, i only have the pro becouse i use the qwerty keyboard much.... the mini/pro is a great phone, but the wildfire has a ugly screen, then you use a picture as wallpaper is looks ugly.....
so if i was you i will look at x10 mini or x8....
my 2 cents

Cheers for that I am not much of a qwerty keypad user I prefer the old T9 style predictive keypad as I don't text often and I can text a lot quicker with a keypad rather then a qwerty. I know what you mean about wallpapers on the wildfire as I had previously had a Tattoo with a similer size screen
My thought
Personally I like more X8. I've got X10 mini pro two months ago. I like it, It is nice device but small resolution restrict from getting all those great apps so it is not ideal. I also thought I will use HW keyboard a lot but most of time I'm just lazy to do it. On screen keyboard could be good enough for me. Camera with autofocus is nice but I have problem with fingerprints on lens everytime I check lens out. Such small phone is hard to avoid touching the lens. And also AF is not working perfectly. I experienced decently blured pictures from time to time (just bad focus, not shutter problem). So, with X8 you can save some money and still get slightly more usable device thus better resolution. Personally I'm thinking about switch to X8 from my X10 mini.

the x10 mini has a good t9 keyboard, but the x8 comes with a on-screen qwerty keyboard like the x10 and not as the mini's keyboard
disreguard adils3d's juvenile comments lol...
Anyway i have a mini pro, and its a gr8 little phone but i bought it specificly because i wanted a small smartphone and a taste of android with T9 style onsceen keypad for sms...using the slider more for emails etc.
The X8 Depends if a bigger screen is more important to you and your not bothered about the lesser camera fucntions and like an onscreen qwerty apart from that i dont think there is any difference apart from price.
In the uk o2 are selling the X8 for £130!!!!
unfortunatly when I went to get the x10 mini today from CEX it had been sold so in the end I ended up getting a HTC Hero instead as they didn't have anymore x10 mini's within my price range. The X10 mini was going for £130 unlocked/sim-free but as it was sold I got a HTC Hero for £120 + £15 to get it unlocked

As a X10 Mini owner, I'd say it depends a lot on its usage.
I got the X10 Mini because I already owned an Omnia HD with great camera and multimedia capabilities and I needed a second device to handle another operator.
The X10 Mini is just that, a great secondary device with great software capabilities because of Android and spectacular performance. It does hold the title of world's smallest smartphone.
However.. the small screen and resolution limits too much the android experience, making some tasks like web browsing a bit painful, not to mention software incompatibility.
For a better smartphone experience, the X8 will be a lot better.
However... for a good android smartphone experience, I'd choose none.
Given Sony Ericsson's back story with firmware updates, I wouldn't get an android from them at all..
Android apps are too much version-dependent, and SE is still late to bring an update to Éclair when every other manufacturer has moved to Froyo.
They even ridiculed themselves to the point of launching a phone with a 2 generations old firmware, the X8.
That's like launching a laptop with Windows XP right now.
And no one knows when the updates are coming.. The X10 was launched a year ago there's still no update..
All we know is that they've NEVER updated any android from them, ever.
And looking at their background SE's background with their Symbian smartphones (laughable, to say the least), I wouldn't count too much on their support.

That is another reason why I was glad they had sold the X10 mini and went for my HTC Hero which already had 2.1-update1 on it and the unlock for the HTC was actually £5.99 via a reputable ebay member express-codes so £120 for HTC Hero w/ 2.1-update1 + £5.99 unlock made for a much better choice instead of £130 for a X10 mini
I have both of them.
And if the camera was the same in the x8 as in the x10 mini pro, I think the x8 was the winner.
It works faster, batterylife is longer, the screens bigger size make a real diffrence.
I use the x10 pro as everyday use and the x8's just for fun, I simply love the x8 with the exeption of the camera.
And about updates, who cares really?
If there dosent come a official realese, im sure there will come one here.
Not something there is giving me a headic

Hey Guys - trying to decide which one to choose from - Can get them basically at the same price ...
I have tried playing around with both - main points to look at - speed and camera.
The XLWW is definitively faster - but the images taken at artifical light - seemed more yellowish (should've been white) + there was more noise and less detail. The Wildfire S on the other hand made better low-light photos but was a bit sluggish as compared to the much nicer interface the XLWW had ?
Another point is : HD video on XLWW vs 640/480 on the Wildfire S
Oh and I am really keen on the Wildfire S design (not that the XLWW is that bad but the WIldfire is better).
Which one is the better one at the end - what is your opinion ?
I would go for the XLWW. 50% of my opinion 'cause I'm a Sony Fan.

Thanks - I think the wt19i is better myself - it's just that the camera issue is kinda important to me and the little test I made in the shop didn't convince me to take it ... I know it's a low-end phone - but still 5mp is supposed to make decent images at least.
I have had short experiences with both phones. And I would choose Sony Xperia LWW over HTC Wildfire S any day because.. its..
Newer (October, 2011 vs May, 2011).
Will soon get ICS (and this is a big one for me).
Lot more processing power (1GHz vs 600 Mhz) - this will matter a lot if you plan on keeping the phone for a while.. there is so much in the Play Store and you would want to install a lot of apps.. the more processing power, the merrier.
Music is really loud - although yes it distorts at high volumes but its awesome.. especially when watching youtube videos with friends in high noise areas).
Got a front-facing camera. I am an avid Skype user so it was a must for me.
Regarding Camera.. yes, Wildfire S is definitely better with stills.. but i would say it's a little compromise over LWW's ICS love and greater processing power. And moreover, LWW can shoot 720p videos..!
All said.. i still love to hold Wildfire S over LWW. But verdict - Sony Xperia Live With Walkman.
Hit Thanks button if I helped.
My vote for "Sony Live With Walkman", there are several reasons.
1Ghz processor
512 RAM
Start ICS 4 update this week onwards.

No, i don't think so. Xperia Neo V had some picture quality issues too with GB and it hasn't changed with ICS.
But, you can always post-process images to remove that yellowish tint.

the yellowish tint is easily removed - I would be more concerned in the loss of detail made some test photos at a shop today - compared to the wildfire s - the lww had significantly low detail when image is zoomed ...
otherwise all the rest seems much better - but I am hoping his could somehow be a software issue

Yeah indeed, its a software issue coz it overcompress images but I am not sure if there's a fix for that yet.. maybe some senior member could shed some light on that (anyone listening?), have you tried googling it..?
But even if you decide not to go for LWW, Wildfire S is still a big NO, the processor is really dated. What other phones have you considered..? Is Xperia Neo V (there is a bit price drop with the launch of Sony Xperia Sola) and HTC One V within your price range..?

actually had a look at the Neo V and the picture quality of the camera was pretty much the same - which lead me to the conclusion that the problem might be coz of the software... or a crappy camera matrix.
anyways - the lww works really like a beast with the regular rom that it comes with I was looking at it in the shop and was impressed - let alone with a custom rom - just maybe waiting on a fix for the overcompressed image - wasn't there going to be a less compressed version of the image coming with the ics ? (as a setting ?)

I truly hope this gets fixed - I see the same problem with Neo, Neo V, LWW, ARC - pretty much most of the late 2011 phones have this issue ... so until a fix is released I will be pretty much holding off.
And you won't have to wait for long.. coz ICS coming to LWW soon starting in a couple days as per the official Sony blog. Start asking around on ICS related threads.

.. and man i just realized its the android 4.0.4..! The ICS update on Neo V I was talking about earlier was 4.0.3. This time, both LWW and Neo V will get 4.0.4. And some guys here at XDA saying we will get a new kernel too.
So hopes are high again for a fix for the camera.

Merry Christmas lads, sorry for opening another one thread/spamming... I found xperia sola and xperia U at exactly the same price....which one shall i go for? Please answer me i need your suggestions! Thanks.
What do you like more? A colourful Illumination Bar or a Magical Display? Just Kidding
A perfect/good smartphone is good because of it's small great things, not because it has a Tegra 3 Processor or 2GB of RAM. Thats my Opinion
I think you should go into a electronic store and hold both devices in your Hand. The sola has a bigger Display and you can use it with gloves, yay So I would buy a Sola, but listen to your heart

So, when you were kidding above did you really meant sth? Xperia U's screen can be compared with Sola's one? (forget the inches, talk about colours)
The internet thing: maybe the Ram was full?
Both displays have 16 millions colors and both have the Bravia Engine, so I don't think that there is a difference

From the videos i have seen till now, Sola and U are exactly the same but U has only 4GB user accessible :-/ i think i can cover this problem witha usb adapter....you think that usb adapter will be annoying? Or will it be easy to get used to it?
Only reason why you should buy U instead of Sola is front camera. If you can live without it then Sola is better phone most definitely.
Also keep one thing in mind that both of these phones will NOT get official JellyBean from Sony. So if you are a fan of Stock manufacturer's firmware, you might want to reconsider buying either of these two phones.
Though, hopefully they WILL get unofficial JB Rom such as Cyanogen etc but it may take a long while to get everything working in these roms, there is also a chance that some features such as video recording may never work in an unofficial JB rom. So think before you buy
Nothing better than the stock rom
Go for a device that will get jelly bean
One more and last question guys...if I buy xperia sola and a freeze suddenly appears and as a result i must remove the battery to "unfreeze" it, what can I do then? I saw the battery is unremovable and it wories me a little.....any help? If there is a solution for this "problem" i will definately buy Sola, otherwise i am afraid i have to reconsider buying a new phone...
I think that there is a way to force reboot on such type of phones, something like power button and vol down...

Yes bro
Everyone have their own preferences
I tried every rom present here
Bt I always get back to stock one
of course.... Xperia Sola is better than Xperia U... because Xperia Sola has external sd card whereas the Xperia U does not have... My friend's Xperia U running on stock ICS has the wifi bug... where he tries to turn off the wifi but the wifi still kept turning on... so.. consider Xperia Sola maybe? XD
Don't go for any of them s3 duos xperia go

after getting my Xperia Neo stolen I decided to go with Sola - as the 3.7" inch screen is perfect size for my hands. It is the minimum for me to be able to write text in portrait orientation (XU has 3.5" screen).
On the other hand I *hate* Sola's floating touch (or glove mode)! Main reason is that you cannot switch it off in games - what good is dual core processor if you are not able to control the game properly due to this floating touch nonsense? To name few: Triple Town, Temple Run, Muffin Knight, GTA3 and others are unplayable (even though the performace is ok). You can get rid of floating touch with different ROM (at the moment there are only two of them), but if you plan to game much, better go with XU...
Another thing to consider is that Sola goes crazy when on charger - it won't react correctly on touch - it think it is floating touch technology again to blame here... (don't know if the same problem occurs on XU)
You can google both of these problem - I would love to know about them before I have bought my Sola :/

I'm thinking of buying the Xperia U but I have a few questions.
How is the call sound quality, headphone quality and loudspeaker quality like?
How is the screen quality like and how are the graphics like on high end HD games?
Is the browsing very fast on this phone? Does zooming in and out on desktop websites lag a lot?
Has anyone's screen stopped working or has their been any hardware failures that have happened to a lot of xperia u's?
Finally, how long do you think it will be before the phone becomes out of date? I want to use it for maybe 3 years after purchase so I need to know if it is future proof.
Sorry for asking so many questions but I want to be entirely sure the phone is ideal for me. Thanks if you bothered to read this far and double thanks if you answered any of my questions.
In order.
Brilliant,
Brilliant but storage is an issue
Good
Nope
1 year at most.
Press thanks if it helps!

I would recommend you to increase the budget a bit and buy Xperia P instead Xperia U.
Cause 1GB RAM will give you better smoothness than XU's 512 MB RAM.
Also SONY is still keeping XP in their mind while releasing Official updates like JB. [XU have Unofficial JB Port]
No offense to the XU users. It's just what i think that while buying android handset, it's better to go for a better hardware spec. Off course if u plan to increase your budget.
Guy above is right, i still regret buying xperia sola, when i could pay 30 more euros and buy xperia p... It is MUCH better and worth the money... I also think that its developing community is more active than xperia u... No offense of course
Also, u should know that a device like mine it is said that because sony reached the target of sales for this device, now they dont give a damn about it.... We all rely on xda to get jelly bean while xperia P DOES HAVE official jelly bean from sony...
Finally, technology is evolving SO FAST that u need to buy an expensive device so that it can compete with future device... (my opinion)
Does the extra 512MB RAM make a big difference from xperia u to xperia p? The processor and GPU are the same but stuff like screen and camera is better on the xperia p
Trust me, xperia sola with 512 mb of ram barely gives 150mb available, logically xperia p should give u at LEAST 300 mb of free ram...
As far as i know, true gaming devices must have at least 1gb of ram...
Any other comments on the Xperia u? What do you use it for on a daily basis?
If u dont play heavy games then it will do the job BUT IF U:
1) Are sure that 4 gb of storage is not enough (like me). Remember xperia u cannot take sd card...
2) Want to play heavy games, i am pretty sure that xperia p will do better
If u meet either the first or second condition then i urge u to buy xperia p but if u dont then feel free to buy xperia p... My sola is the same as xperia u but i can use an sd card and i must say that since i am not a hard core gamer it does the job pretty damn well
Does the xperia p have a slightly yellow tinted screen? In some videos I have seen the the white looks slightly yellow. Can anyone with an xperia P confirm whether the white is pure white or tinted yellow? Also, after upgrading the firmware to jellybean on Xperia P, do you get various problems with apps such as gallery app not working and does the phone lag or does it get faster? Sorry for all the questions. I just want to be sure before I purchase it

Actually there is no device exists which is completely error free. You just have to make it right by your self. The situation is quite same for Android Update also. Check the General Section, you will find a thread there named as - Xperia P JB Review.
Many users posted there JB experience there. That should be useful for you. And as for the Yellow Tint, Sony took care of that issue, after first few shipments of all of their models.
Hey guys ! I'm Running rooted and S-off HTC Incredible S. Its okay but outdated now. We are fully up to date in software, but the hardware is behind. Looking for a new phone is so difficult right now..
I have a budget of $300-$400 Aus. Samsung SIII is a little old now, N4 has no storage.. I wandering is Sony a good option? Would you recomend any Sony device in that price range?
Thanks

Call sound quality-good
Headphone quality-sounds good , the default headphones aren't good enough u'll surely need to buy a new 1
Loudspeaker-Totally disappointed by the loudspeaker
screen quality-Display is just awesome with 280ppi
Browsing used to lagg when I had too many apps installed..otherwise it works good
No hardware faults as such
Hahahaha there is nothing called as future-proof..U is already outdated, maybe you should go for P instead.
