Merry Christmas lads, sorry for opening another one thread/spamming... I found xperia sola and xperia U at exactly the same price....which one shall i go for? Please answer me i need your suggestions! Thanks.
What do you like more? A colourful Illumination Bar or a Magical Display? Just Kidding
A perfect/good smartphone is good because of it's small great things, not because it has a Tegra 3 Processor or 2GB of RAM. Thats my Opinion
I think you should go into a electronic store and hold both devices in your Hand. The sola has a bigger Display and you can use it with gloves, yay So I would buy a Sola, but listen to your heart

I held a sola yesterday but when i surfed the internet it was a bit laggy...may because it wasn't updated to ics ? I don't know why....colours were REALLY beautiful too!
So, when you were kidding above did you really meant sth? Xperia U's screen can be compared with Sola's one? (forget the inches, talk about colours)
The internet thing: maybe the Ram was full?
Both displays have 16 millions colors and both have the Bravia Engine, so I don't think that there is a difference

I can't remember for the ram...
From the videos i have seen till now, Sola and U are exactly the same but U has only 4GB user accessible :-/ i think i can cover this problem witha usb adapter....you think that usb adapter will be annoying? Or will it be easy to get used to it?
Only reason why you should buy U instead of Sola is front camera. If you can live without it then Sola is better phone most definitely.
Also keep one thing in mind that both of these phones will NOT get official JellyBean from Sony. So if you are a fan of Stock manufacturer's firmware, you might want to reconsider buying either of these two phones.
Though, hopefully they WILL get unofficial JB Rom such as Cyanogen etc but it may take a long while to get everything working in these roms, there is also a chance that some features such as video recording may never work in an unofficial JB rom. So think before you buy
Nothing better than the stock rom
Go for a device that will get jelly bean
One more and last question guys...if I buy xperia sola and a freeze suddenly appears and as a result i must remove the battery to "unfreeze" it, what can I do then? I saw the battery is unremovable and it wories me a little.....any help? If there is a solution for this "problem" i will definately buy Sola, otherwise i am afraid i have to reconsider buying a new phone...
I think that there is a way to force reboot on such type of phones, something like power button and vol down...

On this phone you dont remove battery, you do vol + power untill the phone vibrates 3 times.
If i were you i would find samsung or HTC for the same money.

Yes bro
Everyone have their own preferences
I tried every rom present here
Bt I always get back to stock one
of course.... Xperia Sola is better than Xperia U... because Xperia Sola has external sd card whereas the Xperia U does not have... My friend's Xperia U running on stock ICS has the wifi bug... where he tries to turn off the wifi but the wifi still kept turning on... so.. consider Xperia Sola maybe? XD
Don't go for any of them s3 duos xperia go

after getting my Xperia Neo stolen I decided to go with Sola - as the 3.7" inch screen is perfect size for my hands. It is the minimum for me to be able to write text in portrait orientation (XU has 3.5" screen).
On the other hand I *hate* Sola's floating touch (or glove mode)! Main reason is that you cannot switch it off in games - what good is dual core processor if you are not able to control the game properly due to this floating touch nonsense? To name few: Triple Town, Temple Run, Muffin Knight, GTA3 and others are unplayable (even though the performace is ok). You can get rid of floating touch with different ROM (at the moment there are only two of them), but if you plan to game much, better go with XU...
Another thing to consider is that Sola goes crazy when on charger - it won't react correctly on touch - it think it is floating touch technology again to blame here... (don't know if the same problem occurs on XU)
You can google both of these problem - I would love to know about them before I have bought my Sola :/

hi guys, what do ye recommend? The mini or the neo or the ray? im a fan of the smaller size like the mini, really like the size of the phone, but seems that the camera on the neo and ray is a lot better, and camera is very important to me.
which one would you recommend? the amount of megapixel doesnt bother me but the picture quality, yes
any advice?
They have same hardware, only difference is about screen size and camera. U must decide what is more important to you, if you want better camera take the neo and if size is more imprtant then you will take mini we can't help you to decide what u need more.
if you just want android and basic apps, go for mini. if you want to play HD games, go for neo
thanks for the replys, so i was going for the neo, went to the shop to buy it and turns out the neo as reached end of the line, so was going for the ray, well the ray as been recalled, so finally mini it was.

dont know much, only that when i asked for the ray the guy on the shop said they didnt have any, the ones they sold, customers came back with problems and sony recall them back including the ones from other carphones warehouse.
does NFS hot pursuit can be play normally in xperia ray..? i mean,in my x8,the on-screen button is not located properly. i have to touch somewhere else so the onscreen button to detect the touch. example, i need to touch somewhere above the garage icon to enter the garage.
so...does the on-screen button works perfectly on xperia ray..?

These things are affected by the way the developer targets the screen resolution. Your X8 has a 320x480 resolution, standard until a couple of years ago but quite uncommon today and not usually targeted by developers of high-spec games. Consequently they sometimes don't optimise or even test for lower or unusual resolutions.
The Ray has an 854x480 display, a resolution that is already pretty common and becoming increasingly so, and I'm pretty sure that a 'big' title like NFS will have been optimised for all common resolutions so you shouldn't have any problem. Indeed, there are plenty of videos on You Tube showing it running on Play & Arc etc. which have the same resolution.
This link has more on the need to consider differing aspect ratios when developing on Android:

Hi,
As subject says.
I am having right now white xperia mini pro But i am planning to buy Xperia U. Should I buy???
would u suggest to buy? if not may u would lik to tell my why
I will be really thankful if u help me, i m really confused
The only real differences are the Software and the design.
My mom got an Xperia U and it's really awesome, the only downsides are the camera (bad in darkness) and no MicroSD card slot.
The Xperia U has a very beautiful design and a camera shutter button. The One V is thin and simple but the chin is very ugly and so unneccesary.
On the software you'll have to tell yourself, I personally like the Sony UI and Sony has some great apps, but also a lot of bloatware, I've only had Xperia Phones so I haven't had a TouchWiz or Sense phone, but from what I've seen I think that Sense is really ugly EXCEPT for Sense 4 (I think the One V has Sense 4) which is actually really beautiful and ICS optimized, also the Xperia U won't get ICS for a few months but if that doesn't concern you then I recommend the Xperia U.

I won't recommend xperia U.Personally I don't have it.My friend recently bought it and he regrets it.The main draw backs are no support of Devs(atleast for now).No ICS out of the box.Although sony promised an update we don't know when(correct me if I'm wrong)
So a better choice would be (according to me) Galaxy Nexus. It has got the best dev support. You get "instant" updates. And stock experience is what I like.So add a few bucks get Gnex.Only down side is bit a lag in 3d games but better than Xperia U.And other alternative is keep your xperia mini and get the Nexus 7 tablet if u aren't committed to a phone .
Hope I helped You.Think twice before buying

I was gonna recommend Galaxy Nexus too but it's a little more expensive.
You're right, Xperia U has a small community, but it's still pretty new and Sony Mobile isn't that big in the US, mostly sold in Sweden and Japan. Also Gingerbread SUCKS but if you're patient you can wait for ICS, and this guy just got ICS for his Xperia Mini so he's used to GB.

I think Gnex is not in India i guess, correct if i am wrong.
The phones just launched and the dev support will be there slowly i think.
Out of the Box Ics is not a importnt thing when u can get it by updating later or sooner
I already got dell streak with 5inch screen and ipad. so i guess i wont go for gnex7 tab

Well you could always hope for a direct Jelly Bean upgrade, but Sony are so lazy with skinning Jelly Bean so I wouldn't think so.
But Jelly beans on Xperia U .......eehhhhh
wen Ics update decreases the RAM then i think JB will kill it. i mean JB will be requireing alot space.
btw, any1 know eta for ics on U
So, guys, I've been right. I bought Xperia Go and I got defected device. I've got full compensation and service man told me not to buy Go again or any other Sony smartphone because of lot of defected devices and bad software. What do you think, Go owners? I like Go, because it has small, 3.5 inch display, it's water proof (I want device for sport), but I'm thinking right now about Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, because of Jelly Bean and same price point.
You will get jelly bean for few weeks anyway for Go.

Yeah, but my defected Xperia Go without working GSM module (airplane mode), from factory reset, screen always off - 22 hours and dead. Sony says Up to 460 h (3G). I was 22 h without 3G. So in this case it wasn't my fault. Or Sony can say bull**** in their site? Or phone stores give you full compensation without any reason?
Auto sync on?
Bluetooth, wifi, GPS?
All that things can be negative on battery life

It is true that sony phones have problems pretty often. I had a placment in a cellphone store once and trhey also confirmed that, people who buy Sony often need to get their phones fixed after a few month and maybe multiply times. I had an Xperia Play before, it had one radio brick, two times bloken flexcable and one motherboard defect... But i have to admit i didnt have problems with my sola yet even though i have it for 6 month already. Other then that Sony is not doing a very good job with their stock roms. I mean, i love the UI, its the best in my opinion, way better then touchwizz, but the performence and memory managment is not very good. Especially when it comes to older or low price devices. That was also the case with ICS on Xperia 11 devices, its terreble laggy while other S2 phones run it smooth.
I'm pleased with my Go <3

Guys sony is the best.....
460h is stand by time not wen using. Understand that first

Sony creates the best roms....

Xperia Go will receive Jelly Bean 4.1. The blatant lie in your comment shows how incorrigible you are.
Ive been using tipo for 2 months now. Its quite rigid, accidentally dropped it to the floor a few times, still tough, loud audio. It sure beats my brothers galaxy5 and galaxy y in battery usage. I can get up to 26h with brightness as low as it can, gaming? About 1 1/2 hour of online nfs mw on 3g, it drops to 75%. Heh, I guess most entry-level android phone cant even last more than 12hours. Its obvious with y and g5, ive run typical test on those two. Long life battery on under rm500 phones? You wont get it with samsung.
Now using:
Sony Xperia tipo ST21i
stock 4.0.4
11.0.A.4.22
(rooted, locked bootloader)
Current problem:
Cant get past installing flash drivers in xp.
I'm thinking of buying the Xperia U but I have a few questions.
How is the call sound quality, headphone quality and loudspeaker quality like?
How is the screen quality like and how are the graphics like on high end HD games?
Is the browsing very fast on this phone? Does zooming in and out on desktop websites lag a lot?
Has anyone's screen stopped working or has their been any hardware failures that have happened to a lot of xperia u's?
Finally, how long do you think it will be before the phone becomes out of date? I want to use it for maybe 3 years after purchase so I need to know if it is future proof.
Sorry for asking so many questions but I want to be entirely sure the phone is ideal for me. Thanks if you bothered to read this far and double thanks if you answered any of my questions.

I would recommend you to increase the budget a bit and buy Xperia P instead Xperia U.
Cause 1GB RAM will give you better smoothness than XU's 512 MB RAM.
Also SONY is still keeping XP in their mind while releasing Official updates like JB. [XU have Unofficial JB Port]
No offense to the XU users. It's just what i think that while buying android handset, it's better to go for a better hardware spec. Off course if u plan to increase your budget.
Guy above is right, i still regret buying xperia sola, when i could pay 30 more euros and buy xperia p... It is MUCH better and worth the money... I also think that its developing community is more active than xperia u... No offense of course
Also, u should know that a device like mine it is said that because sony reached the target of sales for this device, now they dont give a damn about it.... We all rely on xda to get jelly bean while xperia P DOES HAVE official jelly bean from sony...
Finally, technology is evolving SO FAST that u need to buy an expensive device so that it can compete with future device... (my opinion)
Does the extra 512MB RAM make a big difference from xperia u to xperia p? The processor and GPU are the same but stuff like screen and camera is better on the xperia p
Trust me, xperia sola with 512 mb of ram barely gives 150mb available, logically xperia p should give u at LEAST 300 mb of free ram...
As far as i know, true gaming devices must have at least 1gb of ram...
Any other comments on the Xperia u? What do you use it for on a daily basis?
If u dont play heavy games then it will do the job BUT IF U:
1) Are sure that 4 gb of storage is not enough (like me). Remember xperia u cannot take sd card...
2) Want to play heavy games, i am pretty sure that xperia p will do better
If u meet either the first or second condition then i urge u to buy xperia p but if u dont then feel free to buy xperia p... My sola is the same as xperia u but i can use an sd card and i must say that since i am not a hard core gamer it does the job pretty damn well
Does the xperia p have a slightly yellow tinted screen? In some videos I have seen the the white looks slightly yellow. Can anyone with an xperia P confirm whether the white is pure white or tinted yellow? Also, after upgrading the firmware to jellybean on Xperia P, do you get various problems with apps such as gallery app not working and does the phone lag or does it get faster? Sorry for all the questions. I just want to be sure before I purchase it

Actually there is no device exists which is completely error free. You just have to make it right by your self. The situation is quite same for Android Update also. Check the General Section, you will find a thread there named as - Xperia P JB Review.
Many users posted there JB experience there. That should be useful for you. And as for the Yellow Tint, Sony took care of that issue, after first few shipments of all of their models.
Hey guys ! I'm Running rooted and S-off HTC Incredible S. Its okay but outdated now. We are fully up to date in software, but the hardware is behind. Looking for a new phone is so difficult right now..
I have a budget of $300-$400 Aus. Samsung SIII is a little old now, N4 has no storage.. I wandering is Sony a good option? Would you recomend any Sony device in that price range?
Thanks

Call sound quality-good
Headphone quality-sounds good , the default headphones aren't good enough u'll surely need to buy a new 1
Loudspeaker-Totally disappointed by the loudspeaker
screen quality-Display is just awesome with 280ppi
Browsing used to lagg when I had too many apps installed..otherwise it works good
No hardware faults as such
Hahahaha there is nothing called as future-proof..U is already outdated, maybe you should go for P instead.
I have doubt in getting satisfaction with recent releases sony device, compared to my x10i.
Also, the reason behind this change over is due to heating and restarting issue for past few days.
Even, After back to stock rom and relocking the bootloader perfect baseband flashes. Nothing helps me to ride out of this issue.
Hopefully, i concluded that it should be a hardware issue.
So, i need to miss my x10i badly :'(
If you can please suggest me for good change over.

Even, After back to stock rom and relocking the bootloader perfect baseband flashes. Nothing helps me to ride out of this issue.
Hopefully, i concluded that it should be a hardware issue.
So, i need to miss my x10i badly :'(
If you can please suggest me for good change over.
thankyou mates!

I've currently got a xperia T (the forgotten flagship) awesome phone with awesome hardware, I haven't looked back in regret when I updated to it.
I would recommend the xperia Z as it has better Dev support and it's new

Still using my XPERIA X10i with 64GB Class10 SanDisk(3months use), overclocked CPU with root access and 1800mAh Mugen power battery.(1 - 5days battery life)
It's now become a music/media phone with Neutron Music/XiiaLive/Video players and a mobile file server.
Syllable G18 Bluetooth headphones keep the phone sounding sweet.
Thinking how good my XPERIA X10i still is, I thought, gee, the XPERIA L must be heaps better....
Hmm... that may lose some of the sparkle when one looks a bit closer..
XPERIA L appears to only support Class 6 MicroSD cards and maybe nothing over 32GB.
USB-OTG doesn't seem to be supported from what I read.
Sony is indicating the XPERIA SP needs to be referred to service support if touch screen issues are noted, so indicates HW issuse and not something a SW patch can fix.
Have an XPERIA S and that's in a world of pain after JB upgrade, where XDA Developers will probably be left to pick up the pieces if Sony doesn't address the many voices of dismay.
Third JB update mooted for early July, so it may not all end in tears.
Sony is not at it's best at the moment with firmware updates, but I'm sure they'll want to prove us doubters wrong. :fingers-crossed:
Given the above, I may enjoy my XPERIA X10i for a while longer before it is retired.
Still have 20GB of my SDcard left to fill....

You may be onto something there.
I can purchase an XPERIA LT25i for approx USD350.00 which is less than what I'd paid for an XPERIA LT26i
The XPERIA V has all the 'modern' features and an S4 Snapdragon chipset with an Adreno 225
The XPERIA V also has a good chance of getting Android 4.3 as the Adreno 225 supports OpenGL ES 3.0
Pity I already have an XPERIA S. [mumbling something about JB 4.1.2]
I saw a post were some dude in Asia lost his XPERIA V at the beach in the ocean while videoing and it kept on videoing for some time after it was lost.
It was found and returned to the owner some days later after being dragged from the ocean. All still working and the under water video was on YouTube. Can't say better than that.
XPERIA i1 HONAMI ... THE NEXT YEAR
