got my HTC View 4G before New Year, but haven't really had time to even touch it... kinda looking forward this weekend.
it came w/ gb and one of the main/important reasons i bought it, is that i want hc, i've tried going to software updates, but I get error 1233
i'm thinking to myself, since htc already officially released hc and unlocked bootloader for this tablet, i should be able to go to hc freely right?
btw, does unlocked bootloader is same as s-off? and how do i upgrade it to hc? also is there a way to remove all this bloatware that it came with all sprint crap, i was only planning to use this tablet as wifi not as 4g
2 Evo View family here. We use them WIFI only, no 4G data.
I upgraded from standard GB (as delivered) to HC using "Update Android" menu selection, over WIFI while sitting at McDonald's.
I did receive a OTA (WIFI) notification about the upgrade.

No.
The EVO Shift 4G won't be receiving an ICS update unfortunately

Why do people assume that if one phone gets an update, that another phone is guaranteed to get one soon? HTC and the carriers have different people working on each phone/update. There is absolutely no correlation between one phone getting an update and another phone getting an update.
I just got a system message saying I received some kind of system update. Anyone else getting anything like that or know what changed? I can't find anything out of place. Got my hopes up thinking I'd finally get stable LTE but no such luck.
Is it version 1.22.651.3?

This was not an OTA update. I was never given the usual choice to download the update over wifi. The message stating that the update was done just appeared with only an OK button to acknowledge.
I am S-off and rooted.
I got the same thing but mine was in the DC area because a tower near me was down and I kept getting error 16 with calls (at least that is what the tech on phone told me). This all happened after feeding the panda and reactivating so more than likely it was that causing the problem. However I think SPRINT's default thing to do is send at update to you the minute you call.

I have gotten several of these so call updates. A small box pops up and says system updated . I have gotten like 3 to 4 in the last few weeks. I have no clue what was updated.

I am in a LTE "launch" city. I was able to connect to LTE very sporadically before the update and have not noticed any improvement afterwards.
I'm having several issues with my phone and am on the verge of selling it and my OG EVO and getting an S3 or S4.
I stupidly purchased the device during the pre-order period last May (b4 any user reviews were out).
I'm rooted and running a stock ROM by Viper: Stock Rooted 3.15.651.16 Odex
3.15.651.16 710 RD
Android 4.1.1
Kernal 3.4.10-g 014d33e
Hboot 1.12.0000
Unlocked via HTC
S-On
TWRP 2.3.1.0
Baseband 1.02.12.0427
Radio version unknown
TWRP version 2.3.1.0
I don't know what radios (forgot where to find that info).
My issues are:
Random re-booting several times (3 to 6) per day.
Very rarely connect to LTE (and I live in L.A and work downtown).
On the rare occasion that I do connect to LTE, my apps (like maps) report, "This app requires a data connection", and I am un-able to access the Internet (but they work when the 3G icon is displayed).
I have read opinions that we should update our phones firmware to receive the latest improvements. However, xHausx has a post with links to firmware files, but he recommends NOT updating your firmware if your phone is S On (which mine is).
So I'm thinking of trying another ROM b4 giving up. But I'm unsure if there is any advantage (or dis-advantage) for me to update my firmware.
I want to stay mostly stock. I would prefer to keep Google Now. But after almost one year and still unable to use the LTE network here in Los Angeles (rumored to be nearly 50% complete), I'm about done waiting. The 3G network is painful, and I'm in effect paying $85 a month for 450 voice mins and email, but not much else.
You are on really old radios for one thing.
Not sure if that will solve your issue or not. But it's worth a shot. I would s- off the phone and then do the firmware updates.
Your baseband #'s are the radios.

Ah!. Well, tells you how long it's been since I've delved into this.
I assume I can S-Off even though I did the HTC unlock?
And I still have the constant re-booting issue to fix. Factory reset maybe?
You can use FacePalm to S-OFF you will find it in Original Development it takes about 5 minutes or less
Then you can update all your firmware manually using Captain_Throwback's firmware files
Any questions shoot me a PM

I just got the firmware and radios updated this afternoon, so I'll be checking it out fr the next couple of weeks to see if it does any better with Internet and LTE.
As far as where to sell it? That depends on where you are. Ebay is great for most people, but it takes longer because you have an auction to deal with.
Craigslist is ok if you're in a densely populated area. I'll probably use EBay if I do sell it, just because I'm willing to take a little time to get the best price.
But I'm hoping I can fix my issues because I still have 14 months left on my contract, and Sprint doesn't pro-rate until about 6 months into the contract. So I'm probably looking at about $300 to end it.

I think there is at least an attempt to give one Android update. If you are lucky you get 2. What I mean is aside from security or "fix" updates you will get an Android level update. For instance the Thunderbolt, shipped with 2.2, got an update to 2.3, was lucky to get one to 4.0. Rezound, shipped with 2.3, got an update to 4.0. Now the DNA, shipped with 4.1, should get a 4.2 update. Doubtful it will get a 4.3 (or 5.0) update, but possible. This is just from my experience and observations.

I think HTC will make 2 updates for the GLOBAL DNA phone and possibly one for Verizon, but Verizon will only officially put out 1 update IMO. They won't sink any more $$ into the DNA. But that doesn't matter since as long as the GLOBAL version exists, Verizon users will get theirs. After Moonshine, how can we not believe our DEV can do anything. The only thing that would hurt this phone is if Beaups leaves the DNA community. I've seen where just one strong dev left the community for my phone and the phone support practically all but dried up. He seems to be the king of the DNA. As long as he supports it, we'll be fine.

Beaups doesn't develop ROMs. If he left there would be no difference as far as that goes.

beaups runs on stock rom.
Somewhat related question. I recently moonshined and now have all the s-off goodness that comes along with it (still on stock ROM minus bloat). Question is, when Verizon starts pushing the next software update, do I need to worry about my phone trying to accept it? Does the customized hboot preclude us moonshiners from getting the update?

Do you have a custom recovery installed. At the least I believe (and its been a while since I go an update on the phone with a custom recovery) that the recovery will not automatically install it. But I think there should be something you can freeze or remove that would prevent the OTA.
The HTC rep I talked to yesterday claimed thatthe DNA is HTCs favorite device. Even more favored than the One. He also claimed that the DNA, for that reason, will be supported with various updates for years to come....carrier permitting.

He was trying to make you feel better by saying so. From VZ track records, we'll be lucky to see Sense 5 by the end of the year if HTC releases it in the next 3 months.
There's no reason it shouldn't get updated. It's still quite new, and hardware is top notch. Now when? Who frigging knows! Verizon hates it's customers.

It does have the hardware and specs. Take Verizon out of the picture and this phone would already be on sense 5 (maybe not 4.2.2 yet). I think once the HTC One drops on Verizon it won't be long before the DNA gets it. Kinda funny Verizon is the last major carrier to get the HTC One and S4. They gotta get their dirty little fingers in there first, just so beaups, adamoutler and crew tell them to suck it.
Honestly, the ONLY thing I like about Verizon is there data speeds. Other wise I'd never of jumped ship from sprint.

I or my girlfriend have had every major carrier minus Sprint over the last year+ and Verizon was hands down the fastest and most reliable. AT&T's LTE is a joke.

Let's get the facts straight, it was just shy of 2 years from the phone getting introduced that it got ICS (Intro March 2011, ICS Feb 2013). Yes it was after the phone was EOL, but at least they did it.

Yep, that was exactly my point. We might not see a TIMELY update, but I am sure we will see one eventually.
TBH, if one is running the stock ROM, they are so far from stock Android it isn't funny anyways. I actually prefer Sense 4+ to Sense 5, HATE how they took away the animated lockscreen weather.
my device is HTC Amaze (carrier Wind in Canada). Bootloader unlocked, S ON, Rooted, Recovery 4EXT (Ver. 1.6.... something). H boot: 1.93.0002 CID: GLOBA001
I recently installed CM 10 in it, after much hick ups, to say the least. Now my 4g disappeared. I only get 3G showing in the network signal. How do I get back 4G?
on a related note, I haven't been able to access my internal and external SD card. Says it can't mount SD card. (but I guess I will read some other threads before posting about that issue).
Thanks.
FYI
I just thought I should mention that my wifi and bluetoth is working fine. Also, I can make receive phone calls, browse online, everything is fine. Just not getting 4G data anymore.

Is it possible you were coming from GingerBread and did not do the proper upgrade to ICS first, INCLUDING the radio?
Might be good to go back to stock whatever you were, verify that the signal is working again, and then go through the slightly more involved procedure necessary to upgrade to ICS, INCLUDING the radio, before flashing any ICS-based ROMs.

Right you are, the device came with GB, but then it got updated to ICS through HTC software update. I didn't have to do anything, but select yes.
I will wait till my SD card issue gets fixed then I will go back to stock. So you are saying I should go back to GB or should I go back to ICS? I had 4g in ICS.

I know with the stock T-Mobile ROM, they lumped everything above 2G together and called it 4G. So, 3G, H, and H+ would all show as 4G on a T-Mo ROM.
I'm with wind, but your theory does make sense. I never saw 3g in stock. It would either show 4g or won't show anything.
