[Q] Odin not detecting phone and CWM cant mount emmc - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I have recently tried flashing the biohazard ics kernel thru clockwork but now that I've done that the phone won't boot but mow when i try to restore my previous rom it says there's an md5 mismatch and when i try to install a rom from the internal card I get a can't mount emmc message. Also since i installed the standard ice rom odin only read my phone when it was turned on. Have I bricked my phone???

If you can still get into download mode, you have not bricked your phone. Just flash an original firmware, root it and try again with the restoration.

I have the firmware but if odin won't detect my phone do i need to reinstall the drivers or get a new cable.

what do you mean if?? pls explain your situation more clearer
try reinstalling drivers. and before opening odin, kill all kies related tasks in task manager. then open odin. then connect phone while in download mode

whenever i was running the previous rom, odin would only detect my phone when it was booted normally but not when i would go into download mode and since i can't pull roms off my sd card because i get a can't mount /emms/ i've never gotten that error message before.

Don't connect your phone to odin, since you have no proper kernel installed Odin won't detect any drivers.
Go to recovery mode and reflash stock kernel stored on your phone(assuming you have stored a kernel).
If you haven't then use Heimdall Suite to flash recovery mode again, use link below for reference:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II:_Full_Update_Guide

i reinstalled the samsung drivers and heimdall doesn't detect my phone either :/

What is the "biohazard ics kernel" ?
Try a different cable, different usb port and different computer.

it's an ice cream sandwich kernel created by biohazard and ever since i cant't boot up and clockwork can't detect my removable sd which is where all my backup files and other roms are. I've already tried about 3 different cables and all ports the only other thing is to find a desktop and see if that works...I have a feeling i might have to buy another phone since my phone so far can't be detected in download mode anymore.

So what exactly happens when you put your phone into download mode (power off phone, then hold volume down and home button while booting it) then plug it into the computer?
Does the computer detect it, does it try to install drivers?

the computer detects it but odin won't detect it unless you've installed kies on your computer

[Q] PLEASE HELP. Galaxy S II problem with rooting and Kies.

Hei, Im new to the Samsung Android Phones but I have had HTC Android Phones since the G1 and until the HTC Desire HD and Xperia Arc.
But now Im stuck, I cant get niether Kies nor Odin to recognize my device, let me tell you how.
1. When I try to connect to Kies the *Android MTP driver* fail to install.
2. So Kies will go on an endless Connection journy and my devices tells me its connected.
I have reinstalled the drivers many time. tried with both USB-Debugging mode on and off and still no result.
Ok, but thats not the worst part because i could careless about Kies since my interrest is in rooting the device.
Now if my device is powered on and the USB-debugging mode is on Odin finds it (mark it as yellow)
but when I put the device is in Download mode Odin doesnt find it and I cant flash :'(
Im confussed, i've been going at it for days now with no results. help me please...
When you're in Odin, have you disabled Kies? Both the .exe and the system tray?
What's your current firmware?
Hilsen fra vestkanten
I mean I close Kies when using Odin and vice versa. you think Kies is the reason for Odin not finding the device in download mode?

Turn Kies off = not running in taskbar .
USB debugging off reboot phone .
Open Odin select firmware connect phone via Samsung cable to a mainboard USB port .

Well frankly that MTP device error is a PITA, it happened for me with my S8500, did everything possible, couldn't solve it until I installed Win 7 x64. So may be a fresh OS installation could/should solve the problem.
If you can't do that Odin is the only option as you already know.
And make sure that you are pressing Vol Up+Home+Power button to enter Download mode and press the Vol Up key to continue.
Regards.
It seems that Im ably to enter Android System Recovery by pressing VolUp+Home+Power and Odin seems to find the devices find, but thats not Download Mode I guese, do I brick the phone if I flash from here via Odin?

You can't flash from Odin in recovery, and I'm not sure I've heard of anyone who can get recovery but not download. Something is FUBAR'd...
I'll let ithehappy and jj take over, they've more experience than me. But since you're in recovery, a factory reset seems logical.
Anybody have any idea? please help..
Did you try factory reset? And have installed the newest version of Kies, as opposed to re-installing old drivers?
Uninstall kies and the drivers
Download these driver
Install them
Put phone into download mode
Flash a rom or kernel using Odin
If this doesnt work
1) change USB ports
2) reboot computer
3) try another computer if you have one close by
Or if you have Clockworkmod recovery installed
4) boot into CWM recovery
5) connect phone to computer via USB
6) select mounts and storage
7) select mount USB storage
8) your phones internal SD card will now mount with the computer, copy a CWM flashable zip of what you want to flash to the phones sd card
9) go back to main menu
10) select install zip from sd card
11) select chose zip from sd card
12) flash!

my phone freeze on the first screen with the galaxys2 logo and the yellow trigon...!!recovery mode mode dont work and when i am going in download mode the pc cant reccognice the phone..!!i have allready install the drivers...!!i want to install an official rom but odin cant see the phone.!!help
If you think you get working drivers installed, put your computer online, put your phone on download mode, plug the cable, and wait for it to install.
This is for windows 7, otherwise install the Samsung usb drivers again

That's hard.
If you do not get the PC recognize your phone in download mode, you have a real problem.
Try another USB port and cable.
Try to connect your phone to another PC.
Maybe you have to give it to a service center for repair.
Is your phone already out of warranty?
I had a similar problem where it freezes on that screen.
My problem was I installed an ICS rom with old version kernel.
Once I installed the latest CF-Root the boot was successful.
If Odin can't see your phone and you can still go into Download mode, I would check to make sure that Kies is not open and no Kies process is live (Task Manager / Processes), I think it's call "KiesTrayAgent", just kill the process and any process that has a Kies word in it.
Otherwise try another PC.

Phone stuck on Cyanogenmod 9 splash screen and not recognized by Odin

The thing is that I cant to get into the CW Recovery Mode either because the phone appears to be charging even without any cable. I know it is not a battery issue, because I have tried with other batteries and nothing changes.
I'd really appreciate any thought that anyone can throw in this because I have read and tried so many things that I'm starting to think that I have bricked it.
You do not make it clear whether you are unable to get into download mode, or you get download mode but odin does not recognize the phone.
Attempt to enter download mode and connect to Odin while the battery is out:
Open odin on the desktop. Pull the battery, then hold the vol down button while plugging in the usb cable. let us know what happens.

Im sorry if I didnt make myself clear.
I can make it to download mode but Odin doesnt recognize my phone, even though I have Samsung kies installed and it worked before with other roms. The thing about the battery is that the phone "thinks" that is charging all the time, which means that I can make it to the CW Recovery mode when I press Volume up + home + power button :crying:

So, did you try to connect to odin while the battery was pulled? What result did you get?

Nothing either, neither Odin nor the system recognized the phone in any moment.
Any other idea??
Start by assuming it is not the phone. Suspect the usual possibilities, and eliminate them one by one. It could be a problem with driver, usb port, usb cable, or PC.
1. Check in Windows uninstall programs dialog. You should have "Samsung USB driver for Mobile Phones." If not, install it. If so, uninstall it and reinstall the latest version.
2. Try another usb port. If a desktop computer, be sure to use a usb port that is directly connected to the motherboard. Try all the ones that are available.
3. Try another usb cable. Use the original cable that came with the phone. Try any other cable you can put your hands on.
4. Try another computer. One person even said they could never get their phone to connect on Windows and with Odin, but were able to flash it with a Mac using Heimdall.
If you exhaust all of those possibilities without success, then it is a fairly good bet that the problem is with the phone.

I tried uninstalling the samsung driver and installing it, but nothing. I'm pretty sure is a phone issue, most likely related with the ROM that had installed before, because i tried with my brother's phone, same model galaxy s2 I-777 and Odin recognizes it perfectly.
The thing is that if I cannot connect it to Odin, is there any other way I can flash it? like from a external micro SD card or something? Or any way I can access to the phone in download mode??

Heimdall performs the same basic operation as Odin, but it is built by a private individual, not by Samsung. You could try Heimdall from your PC, or if you could get a hold of a mac you could try Heimdall from it. I'd suggest the command line version, although it has a nice UI as well.
If you've tried all of the four points I posted, then that's all I know to do. But I wouldn't just try #1 and then pass up the other three because you are convinced the problem is in the phone.
Oh, and the final resort would probably be to send it to Josh at Mobile Tech Videos. (not free)

Ok, I don't know why but now Odin started to recognize it. It seems there is something wrong with the usb port and that's why the system couldn't recognize it. But now the problem is that the phone "thinks" that it is always charging and therefore I can't make it to the CW recovery mode, only to the download mode. So now, is there any way I can install some stable ROM on the phone from Odin???

Use Odin to flash one of the stock plus root firmwares; I suggest (4.0.4) I777UCLL6. See the link in my signature for correct thread. The OP of that thread also has full instructions for installing a custom kernel, and which one to use. Use Mobile Odin Lite or Mobile Odin Pro to flash a custom kernel with contains ClockworkMod Recovery. Then use CWM recovery to flash the firmware of your choice. Profit.

Stuck in CWM

Good night
Well, this morning I tried to make a backup of my rom using the rom manager. It failed and I got stuck in the CWM. I've already tried flashing other roms (transwin and bionic monkey) and wipe cache, data, etc. Right now, I'm trying to flash CWM using odin, but it can't recognize my device. I've already trying unnistalling/reinstalling KIES and Samsung drivers, but it always shows that error code: 10 (even in another computer).
So... anyone have any ideas? I think I should try to make odin recognize my device, but I don't know what to do anymore...
delete kies from system and try to connect device in Download mode wait for Odin to install drivers and recognized by it or try different port or cable

Thanks for your attention. I did it all again, but I think the problem was that I was using the recovery to enter in download mode. When I tried to enter without it I managed to get out of recovery, but now I can't make KIES recognize my device to get back to stock and the Bionic Monkey rom is bugged ("Android.process.acore has stopped" every 3 seconds). I saw the topic with some stocks, but I can't find one for my country (Brazil) and IDK if I can just flash any rom... I'm going to try the TransK rom, I wanted to test it anyway.
Thanks again ^^
