When i download a file with the standard browser i want to put the file on my micro sdcard.

i know some of the 3rd party browsers let you choose where to save, i don't remember offhand if the default one does, but if it doesn't, you can just move it afterwards to the uSD...

I can't seem to figure out how to permantly download pictures from memory cards to the gallery on my tab. They show up as long as card reader is plugged in but disappear when removed. Using the Samsung USB adapter with Sony 17 in 1 card reader.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Tried searching but my keyboard disappears when I click on search box......?
I'm not sure what you're asking. It makes sense to me that once you unplug the card reader that none of pictures on the card reader would be viewable.
If you want those photos in your gallery after you remove the SD card then copy them to the Tab's internal memory from the SD card.
Thats what im trying to do... Transfer files to tabs internal memory.

Use a file explorer app like EZ File Explorer, ASTRO File Manager or Root Explorer. In your /sdcard/ folder copy the images from a folder named usbStorage to your Pictures or any other folder in /sdcard/.
Ok thnx... Will try tonite
I noticed that the external SD card is only visible within the default file manager app. 3rd party apps are unable to view/browse the external sd card. Is it possible to work around this? I wish Samsung did it the traditional way here..

I too cant see it in Astro but is is visable in Root Explorer although the default location as changed and it took me a few minutes to find it, previously with the SGSII it was (in Root Explorer) when you clicked on SD Card > External SD but know the location is mnt > ext sd card

Yes I realised that too. It is very annoying! That made Astro practically useless!
Use Total Commander instead. It works fine ...
I use astro and can get to the Ext SD by going into Manage My Files then going Up one level to /mnt from /mnt/sdcard then the extSdCard folder is visible
I'm running CM7 off SD. I put the SD into my card reader and copied over the APK files but once back in the NT 16gb The file manager doesn't show the APK files for me to install them.
Check wheater they are hidden or download root explorer(avilable in market) which will solve everything

Grabbed the ES File Explorer and turned off hidden files and checked to show root. I can see alot more things now but still not where the files are. Finally though I can see my computer with this browser and I'm copying the files over that way.

If you used a card reader to copy the APK files to an SD card, you're copying them to a partition that is not visible when you actually boot the NT. You need to copy them when the NT is connected to the PC using the USB cable.
Why does the gs4 even need an emulated SD card?
The internal storage is short so I bought a 64gb SD. But everything wants to go into the emulated sd even my custom recovery only sees the emulated sd.
Is there a setting anywhere to change this?

What recovery are you using. In CWM Recovery go to Install Zip from SD Card > Choose Zip From External SD Card.

You can change it in TWRP and Goo Manager, too. The only place I saw that you cannot change it is from within ROM Manager, but ROM Manager sucks anyway, lol. And you can change it in Titanium, and you can change it in the TW camera (in fact, the camera asks you when you start it the first time).
I have Dolphin browser installed primarily because it allows you to choose download location. The only app I am stuck on is SkyDrive (I prefer it over Drive and DropBox because it has a very straightforward "just download the damned file" function), but I use FolderMount to get around it. I use FolderMount to relocate my Android Data and OBB files, too. So there is just some things like app setting files, etc. on internal card now for me.
what is the typical file size for a typical file
ALSO can I simply copy and paste from the old to the new sd card, if some apps function off my external (ie cloud services) and expect programs to recognize all my data on my external card no problem?
Or is organizing, cleaning up syncs (ie maybe permissions change with a new card) a longer process than that?

Not sure but your apps on sd card not surely gonna be copied unless you copy the .androidsecure folder from sd which is hidden on Media and Camera usb modes. You can copy it by using UMS mode.
It can be changed using an app but it requires root. On very old devices this is the default mode. all your data are likely to be preserved. BUT IF CAUSE OF ANY OR ALL DATA LOSS, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE. And, plus don't copy from sd to sd. copy from sd to pc and from pc to sd. Better if you use a card reader which is also gonna show you the .androidsecure folder removing the need of anything. HIT THANKS IF I HELPED
or am i misunderstanding your question?
So your saying as long as I copy the hidden folder I'm good?
Also what Android version are you talking about? ICS file system VERY different from 4.1.2 and Kitkat
