Hi,
Replacing the stock ogg files with silent ogg files is the only way I know of disabling camera sounds. Are there better ways? I am using cyanogen mod 9. Thanks iin advance.
you can go to system/media/audio/ui/ and take the file named shutter_01.ogg

Hi All,
I used BladeBuddy to make ro.camera.sound.forced = 0
My phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace) is rooted. I have android version 2.3.4.
Build number GINGERBREAD.ZSKPD.
I attached a screenshot of my BladeBuddy settings.
I have set the phone on SILENT and tried as well but the sound was still on when i take a picture.
I have also tried rebooting several times.
Help would be really appreciated.
Cheers.

Thanks for the idea. Can you tell me where to find the sound file, please?
I have one here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19355771/silent.ogg
replace camera_click.ogg and VideoRecord.ogg..
Thanks, but the sound is still there!
I installed RootExplorer to replace the sound files. The location is system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg
I replaced the file and the sound is still on!
The sound made from the camera doesn't match the original sound found in that location. So i'm assuming there are other camera sounds in another location that i need to replace. Can some PLEASE tell me where to find the other sounds that the camera uses as a shutter sound ??
this is driving me crazy ... ><

Did u set d permission to rw-r-r ?
Sent from Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 using Jusada's awsum ICSunday2 + Slaidmod script.
Dont jus say thanks, use d 'THANKS' button. [XDA RULE]
the permission of which file/folder exactly?
Cheers.
Ok i solved it. Thanks to your help guys.
The Solution:
My root explorer version was not the right one. I had to download 2.17.2
Then, i had to change the folder permissions to r/w instead of read-only (r/o) [this didn't work properly when i was using the wrong version of root explorer].
Then, i had to download Vignette and choose silent for shutter sound from settings.
Then, i had to replace the camera_click.ogg file with a silent audio file {thanks to vitorpacheco for supplying it}.
Now i can finally take pictures using Vignette without sounds!
Cheers .
I get rid of the shutter sound, but still have issue with focus sound. Is anyone know how to disable it?
Thanks.
Well, it looks like it's gone in JB, but assuming you're in ICS and rooted:
Using Root Explorer, navigate to \system\media\audio\ui, mount it R/W, and rename the appropriate .ogg file. (Example: Camera_focus.ogg --> Camera_focus.OLD
Hope this is helpful.

Thank you for your answer.
But there are no files which sound like the focus beep.
This is a simple procedure to change default notification sounds like email pop up, touch interface sound, boot , shutdown, lock, camera shutter, keyboard sounds etc for a116
Phone needs to be rooted...
Download root explorer or root browser. Go to system>>media>>audio>>ui
You will find all ogg audio files there..Each one for different task...
For example KeypressSpacebar.ogg is the sound file for pressing spacebar in keyboard. You can replace the default one to any sound file or music file of your choice in the folder but make sure to rename the replaced file to same KeypressSpacebar.ogg . Same method applies to boot sound, shutdown etc. The audio file should only be in ogg format. . There are lots of online ogg converters to do this. Before doing all this pls take a backup of the ui folder just incase u mess it up..
i know this is very simple but i guess it would be useful esp to change that annoying touch sound on jb..
Just incase anybody wants default "click" ics touch sound..Here it is..
Press thanks if it was of any help

Hi,
I have a LG G4 (H815) with Android 7, TWRP Root and Xposed.
I dont want the Sound when you take a Picture. There will never be a Time when I need that fuc*** Sound.
First i tried to Rename the Files in System->Media-> Audio-> ui to Xcamera_click.ogg.bak Reboot- Sound still there
Then i changed all Files with Cam or Video in the Title the same way- Reboot- Sound still there
Then I created a new 2seconds of pure Silent .ogg File and deleted the old an placed the Silent ones of all relevant Sound Files there. Reboot
The replaced Autofocus Sound is silent. But there is still a Camera and a Video Start Sound.
The Files in System->Media-> Audio-> ui are the correct Silent ones.
Is there another Location where the Sound is stored?
Nobody Knows?
do a grep on extracted system folder with the file name , this may help you
I want to remove the camera shuter sound and some other UI sounds.
On my last rooted device Galaxy Note8 with Android 7-9 I removed or renamed the *.ogg files in /system/media/audio/UI folder.
This worked all the time.
Since I am rooted an have RW ROM from Dr.Ketan installed I did the same procedure as described above.
First i added extension .bak to the files, but as it didn't work I moved the renamed files to a different folder. But the shutter sound is still active.
I assume there is a second folder which contains the same files.
Any ideas where the releavant files are located?
S23 - call recording - possibility of changing CSC ?
I know the question is probably too early, but it is essential for my pre-order:D Does anyone know if it will be possible to change the CSC and activate call recording in the S23? (...

@yakapa40
I confirm the folder is not there on my S918B.
That's why I prefer the old way with renameing files, that usually works for all UI sounds.
