I want to remove the camera shuter sound and some other UI sounds.
On my last rooted device Galaxy Note8 with Android 7-9 I removed or renamed the *.ogg files in /system/media/audio/UI folder.
This worked all the time.
Since I am rooted an have RW ROM from Dr.Ketan installed I did the same procedure as described above.
First i added extension .bak to the files, but as it didn't work I moved the renamed files to a different folder. But the shutter sound is still active.
I assume there is a second folder which contains the same files.
Any ideas where the releavant files are located?
S23 - call recording - possibility of changing CSC ?
I know the question is probably too early, but it is essential for my pre-order:D Does anyone know if it will be possible to change the CSC and activate call recording in the S23? (...

@yakapa40
I confirm the folder is not there on my S918B.
That's why I prefer the old way with renameing files, that usually works for all UI sounds.

Hi,
Replacing the stock ogg files with silent ogg files is the only way I know of disabling camera sounds. Are there better ways? I am using cyanogen mod 9. Thanks iin advance.
you can go to system/media/audio/ui/ and take the file named shutter_01.ogg
hey all,
This is the stock Camera app based on Eryigit's Chinese-based stock. (I think that this is the right subforum...) You'll need to-
1) be rooted
2) have a deodexed ROM
( 3) You'll probably have to be on a Gingerbread-based rom [vs CM, ICS, whatever])
======
While the stock Gingerbread 2.3.5 Camera app had a silent mode (if I'm remembering correctly....), flashing the Eryigit mod left me with a noisy little camera app. (I believe that this is due to the legalities regarding the int'l source of the stock firmware [ie the gov'ts decided that guerilla upskirt shootings were a bad thing. While true, why not try to get the people to stop instead of hampering tech? ug, people!])
I couldn't find anything to replace the camera app online (other silent Camera apps didn't work, disabling the /system/media/UI/audio shutter sound files didn't work [the sounds are "baked in" the apk], the advertised build.prop script was a no go, and Camera ICS was close, but flipped the viewscreen- seriously annoying). After decompiling and getting stumped by the code (no Java or smali training and no real desire to learn, atm), I just decided to edit the .ogg files (in the raw folder) to play nothing. It's a dirty, little method, but it works.
========
Process
Make a backup of your stock Camera.apk (found in your /system/app folder; you can use Root Explorer or Ghost Commander, or ES File Manager if it's rooted.) just in case.
a) Place this file in your root folder.
b) Change the permissions to 644 or Owner read and write, group and everyone else read only. (via terminal or Root Explorer)
c) move the file to your /system/app folder.
Done.
====
Use
The only sounds I've enabled are
I) Shutter sound 1
II) Shutter sound 3
III) Camera timer.
(In case you like sound. For no shutter sound, select shutter sound 2 in Settings. The camcorder has no sound available though.)
====
PS. If you're odexed (you see/have .odex files) I believe that deleting the Camera.odex (after backup, of course) and replacing the Camera.apk file will work. Again, back them up, just in case.
PPS If something like this was already available, then ...oops. I was not in the know

It's nice to have options.
The BLU R1 HD ships with very annoying and horrible SystemUI sounds. Luckily, it is very simple to replace them with the normal AOSP ones. I realize than not everyone wants to go through the trouble of searching for the Android SystemUI sounds and putting them together in the system. That's why I made this pack.
What's included?
SystemUI sounds from AOSP including...
Touch/click sounds
Keyboard sounds
Camera shutter and focus sounds
All original stock sounds, prefixed with "Stock_" for backup purposes.
How to install...
Download the attached zip file
Extract it using your favourite extractor
Copy all files inside to /system/media/audio/ui/, replacing any existing files using your favourite root file manager.
Reboot
Profit???
FAQ
Q: I have no SystemUI sounds at all!
A: You must enable them. Touch sounds are in Sound & notification, under the audio profile settings. Keyboard sounds are somewhere in the settings of your keyboard app, so you'll have to find them yourself.
Q: I want to go back to the stock SystemUI sounds.
A: Simply delete all the files in /system/media/audio/ui/ that have "Stock_" counterparts and rename the "Stock_" counterparts to remove the "Stock_"
Q: I don't have a root file manager or zip extractor.
A: I used ES File Explorer. Amaze File Manager is better. You can find it on the Google Play Store.
Will add more as needed...

Would be better if you made this into a flashable zip

I'll look into that.
I follow the instructions to the t and now I have no sound. Every sound option is enabled and nothing. I even deleted the files and rename the "stock_" but nothing. Please advice.
Hi,
I have a LG G4 (H815) with Android 7, TWRP Root and Xposed.
I dont want the Sound when you take a Picture. There will never be a Time when I need that fuc*** Sound.
First i tried to Rename the Files in System->Media-> Audio-> ui to Xcamera_click.ogg.bak Reboot- Sound still there
Then i changed all Files with Cam or Video in the Title the same way- Reboot- Sound still there
Then I created a new 2seconds of pure Silent .ogg File and deleted the old an placed the Silent ones of all relevant Sound Files there. Reboot
The replaced Autofocus Sound is silent. But there is still a Camera and a Video Start Sound.
The Files in System->Media-> Audio-> ui are the correct Silent ones.
Is there another Location where the Sound is stored?
Nobody Knows?
do a grep on extracted system folder with the file name , this may help you
Iam not a good thread maker so i will try to write everything as simple as i can.
Few days ago i bought and switched to A7 2018 from A5 2017, which was/is still an excellent phone to me.
On A5 i was on Oreo and on A7 i am and will be still on Oreo. Not planning to test this on Pie, but be my guest and try it on Pie, some stuff should work. Report if it does.
On A5 i made a similar thread to enable some features, but it was much easier to do because i had a CSC folder instead of ODM folder which has some files encrypted and you need them decrypted to proceed. And there is no flashable zip, you will need to do all on your phone, except decrepitng some files which you will need to do on your pc, and then put back and overwrite the same files on your phone and give necessary permissions.
First of all iam not a developer and i dont know anything about developing.
This is just enabling some features that were allready there in the phone through some lines on some files in ODM/OMC folder and some lines implemented in the stock floating_feature.xml file.
Never delete floating_features.xml file from your phones etc folder and dont touch permissions (0644), or your phone wont boot up. You just need to edit them and save.
Iv tested only on stock A750FNXXU1ASA4 OREO, which was only rooted and nothing else was modified.
The features you should get if everything goes right are:
1. Floating messages (option in Advanced features)
2. Record calls in (phone options)
3. Show network speed (option in status bar)
4. Data Usage Notification (option in data usage)
5. Camera Shutter sound on/of (in camera options)
6. ScreenRecord (options accessible from QPannel and Advanced Features)
7. S Bike Mod
8. Places option on keypad
9. Caller ID spam protection (in phone option)
9. LiveMessages in samsung keyboard
10. S PowerPlanning (Device Maintenance/battery)
11. HomeMode(screensaver option)
12. S Pen features( needed if you ever find working AirCommand).
13. In Samsung video options, but in option that apear when you press play on video,
you should see Video Enhancer option. Download Samsung video from Galaxy apps.
14. Multiuser support
15. Dolby Atmos dual speaker (works with speaker not just with earphones)
Anyway...
I f you dont know anything about floating_features.xml or bulid.prop or ODM/OMC folders and editing them, then dont try this beacuse I won't be held accountable if something happens to your phone if you loose your data or go into bootloop! So Dont Forget to Backup your Phone!
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.You have to be ROOTED offcourse and have a file manager like RootExplorer or simillar.
2. Now you need to copy from root of your phone two files from your contry ODM/OMC folder that your phone/SIMcard uses. It must be from your contrys ODM/OMC folder no other ones. The files are cscfeature.xml and cscfeature_network.xml After you decrypt them put them back in your phone and overwrite the ones inside your contry ODM/OMC folder and give permission 0644.
After that open in text editor with your Root Explorer cscfeature.xml file and on the bottom insert the lines that you can see in the attachment, then save and restart the phone.
To decrypt cscfeature.xml files follow this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/decode-encode-omc-files-omc-decoder-t3791471
3. Now open your floating_feature.xml which is located in system/etc folder and just edit/enter on the bottom of the file lines that you can see in the attachment, save and restart the phone. Dont do nothing else with this file just insert the lines then save and restart the phone. If you delete it you will go in to bootloop.
4. Now open your build.prop and on the bottom of the file enter lines that you can see in the attachment, save and restart the phone.
5. Now copy all files in system from the attachment and put them in their corresponding places.
Give perrmission for folder 0755 and 0644 for files.
Thats it!
I hope it works for you like it did for me.
Il try to answer any questions, when i have free time.
And if you all have problems doing this i will make a video tutorial when i have free time.
Does this tutorial applies to a7 2018 with android pie? I mean do I have to decrypt those files? I just want to enable call recording.

Okay upload the file. Will decrypt it if i got some time tomorrow. Easiest way is by using firefds xposed module. Youll see call recording setting under phone section.
So can I enable only call recording without decrypting those files? I've did it on my s8, just copied the csc code into build.prop...it will work on this device too?
Some more features if anybody is interested.
Its for Pie
