Anyone having problems with charging using the ICSrewD rom? Since I have installed it, charge time is about 4 hours to get it fully charged. Also my battery dies alot faster then stock rom. Left it at 50% overnight and when I woke up my phone was dead. I have 2 phones and switched batteries, so I know its not that. How do you go back to stock browser? I dont like the full screen browser included. Need tutorial on how to install .cwm flashable add-ons. Thanks.

Recommend using bbs to check for wakelocks and use CPUspy as well. If these two do not work then full wipe and flash it again.
How long have you been running ICScrewd? It can take a few charging cyles to settle battery in. Do you have any rogue apps running, Skype, Words with friends, etc.(known battery drainers)?
Also what are your sync settings? Auto sync with gmail? There are a ton of factors at play here. I've never had any issue with charging on this ROM(I know overall the GS2 charges slower than my captivate did).
You flash CWM flashable add ons the same way you flashed the rom Simply boot into CWM and select zip and flash.
Edit: ah jivy, beat me by 3 minutes. lol
OK i'm getting better battery life now, but the charging still takes hours. Just need to know how to get back to stock browser. I also dont like when I open the browser, it takes me back to the page I ended last. I want to go to my home page everytime I open browser. Couldnt find the setting to change that. It happens on regular browser and dolphin browser.

Are you exiting the browser correctly, with the back button? You may be leaving the browser running, thus bringing you back to where you left off. Also when you're finished using the browser check running apps in task manager, it may still be running when you think it isn't.

The only issue I had with battery on ICScreweD was where a reboot would lose me 30% in the battery meter. It has never done that to me on any other ROM, before or since. But, the battery still lasted as long. For example it did it to me almost every time when it was 40-50% and I rebooted. It would start back up in the low teens, they stay there, or go up slightly, for hours, then start to drop again. When I looked at battery use it showed the downward trend, the drop and settle, then where the trend should pick up again it would go down. Guess it's common for others to see this, just weird that it only did it to my on ICScreweD. The battery life wasn't impacted, just the battery meter would be wrong.
I have been using ICScrewed for two weeks now. Usually when you flash something new, I find that it takes about two battery charging cycles to become stable.
The battery life of ICScrewed is very good, but not as good as stock. Still, I use my phone about 3 full days per charge with a moderate amount of texts, calls, gaming, etc. I still can do anything I want to freely without worrying about the battery life.
I was using the golauncher task widget to end browser, but now I am using the Android one to end tasks and that one doesn't save the last page. How can I got back to stock browser though? I don't like the full screen one without the time on top.
Go look in the ICScrewed thread in the development section. There is a thread for this ROM that has the ROMs website. On the website is a cwm flash able add on to change back to the regular non-fullscreen browser.

I had just recently loaded ICScrewD (1.60 >1.6.1 blue) after a full wipe/cache/dalvik and I was unable to attach an audio file to an MMS message. As soon as I would select audio after clicking the attachment button, messaging would force close. I tried two clean wipes before giving up. Any other 1.6.1 users able to duplicate this?
Edit: I'm able to attach photos and some other files but audio seems to give me the trouble.
so far the best rom! i switch from unnamed. the issued with battery drops after reboot exist, comfirmed. but as was said it's battery meter issue.
what else i noticed and would like the dev to fix it is edit photo feature in galary app does not work, crashes on start.
another thing is: is it pisibble to intergrate LatinIME.apk from cm7 or unnamed?????? i tried to simply yank and install apk but it crashes after reboot.
thanks for your work otherwise perfect rom

I have gone through countless battery reconditions, following various methods, very tediously, various roms (nero, bionix, trigger, etc.) trying to get acceptable battery life. After a lot of detective work I finally pinned down the problem to the 'mediaserver' process within the system processes. It runs CONSTANTLY and drains the batter within half a day from a full charge. This problem has been documented on google code: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=6765
The process cannot be killed via any task manager as it seems to be a sub-process. So I finally mustered the courage to move the file from its directory into the parent directory to see if that would do the trick and restarted.
Now I'm stuck on the boot screen.
Can someone please help find a solution for this issue? I think I can recover from the boot screen issue but I know I will just encounter the same issue again and again.
I am currently on trigger 2.6.1.
Help?
I should also ask if it is possible to even ODIN back to stock from a ROM that has the voodoo fix enabled?
Just odin back, root, flash a rom, freeze the app with titanium backup.
Edit, n/m, just realized you weren't talking about an app. I'll read the link you posted.
I'm on trigger 2.6.1, no issues here. You sure it's not a bad app man?
As far as I can tell, no. It certainly could be but the I've been having battery issues since bionix 3 I think.
However I did read on that google link that certain media centric apps can cause it to go nuts. I am using the winamp beta app and youtube pretty heavily (although thats obviously unlikely to be the culprit).
I thought about freezing it but ya, its a sub process under the 'system processes'...process so I can't freeze it without taking down the whole thing and probably causing way more issues.
Thanks for the response though, appreciated.
Dude, winamp and youtube are going to use a lot of power.. How long is a full charge for you?
About 8 hours. I pull it off the charger at 7:30am, use winamp for music for about 1 - 1.5 hours and other moderate use. Dead by the time I leave work at 5. Get home, charge it up until I hit the gym (usually get it to roughly 50%) and listen to music, watch a couple videos and its begging for the charger by the time I get home.
Furthermore, I use the system panel app to find out exactly what is eating CPU cycles. That 'mediaprocess' thing is exponentially above everything else. So either a bad app is causing it to run and keep it running or something else is triggering it. I formatted both SD Cards per some of the suggestions elsewhere, but no dice.
seems like your getting normal battery life.
heavy usage on your phone will eat up the battery. especially watching videos.
So what do I make of the mediaserver process that is using up 40-50% of the battery? Watching videos, listening to music or not, I get the same results. I really don't think its that.
Are you sure you're completely killing the apps when you're not using them? Use the task manager and be sure the app is not running. Otherwise, be sure to freeze media hub and the DRM storage with TB. It should help with drain while the phone is on standby.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Ya I'm sure. I don't even have mediahub installed on the phone however I am going to try freezing / removing the DRM storage thing.
Mediaserver constantly running is the reasons the battery drains. I didn't know if anyone has any solution as to how to kill it, or how to keep it from running continuously. This is a known bug as shown in the link in OP.
I'm guessing everytime I open up winamp or something it starts, then never stops after that. Who knows.

Do you have allshare installed?
running Trigger 2.6
W/ dragon kernel uv/oc to 1.28
and Adw launcher ex
No sir. I've deleted pretty much anything DRM, Mediahub or Allshare related. Most of it is already removed with Trigger (ROM I'm using right now) and I removed a couple more services / apps in the quest for better battery life.
I am completely new at this, I read that some say the battery drains too quickly over night while in sleep mode (running the vegan 5.1 rom), even when wifi, sync, etc. were shut off. Has anyone else experienced this? How is this compared with iPad? Thanks!
I'm too a bit concern about this issue. Does this problem occur on Vegan ROM only or other ROMs?
What about standard ROM?
Why not just plug it in overnight? Seems easy enough...
Well, it's all about convenience. I just don't want to remember to keep thingy plugged in overnight, every night...
With average usage about couple hours per day - single charge should lasts for 5 days.

I had to retrain myself when I got my HTC Incredible. I keep a charger at work, home and in both vehicles so I always have power available when I need it. Once I rooted, installed Hydra Kernel and got rid of the bloatware my battery uptime was significantly improved.
I suppose the bloatware on the stock ROM would cause some battery drain that would be helped by a custom ROM or at least removing the bloatware that you do not need.
Yup, that's the question. Which ROM has least amount of bloatware...

Depends on what you consider bloatware
VEGAn is pretty clean if you ask me, but I did stream line it a bit for battery life.
System app remover is awesome. No more using terminal to pull apks manually.
I Yank out the tts (text to speech) stuff
I pull streetview and gmaps (I can get directions from gmaps online if I need them)
I pull email and Gmail (the galaxy tab email port runs my Hotmail and Gmail from one app and I can tell it to never check unless I press the check button)
I pull the news and weather app (I can control update regularity with beautiful Widgets to sync once an hour as apposed to once a min with stock)
I gut out the stock browser and launcher after replacing them with dolphin HD and launcher pro.
There are more but since I already pulled them I can't exactly check
I get amazing battery life this way. If I shut it down when I'm done with it I can make it last all week on one charge at about 3-4 hours of moderate use a day.
I can use it all day heavily and put it to sleep at night and still wake up with 30+% battery.
Looks like gTab never goes truly asleep, just turned screen off. Some apps continue to work.
Thank you, I will give the systemapp remover a try.
This is where the Ipad and the Gpad are totally different. I can charge the ipad to 100% and wifi wll be turned on and I can turn it on a week later and the battery will be at 99%. The gpad with wifi turned off will be down to nothing in just a couple of days. Like someone said the thing is never off. I hate having to keep it plugged in all the time.

Under settings / about look at battery usage and you should be able to see what is using your battery.
I used system app remover to take out all my reduntant apps (launcher, browser, music player, ect) and set my wifi to turn off when the screen turns off and now my gtab just sips the battery.
I went to bed with it at 41% last night and checked it this morning as I was about to leave for work (8 hours later) and the battery was at 35%! Before I was losing almost 20% a night so this is a HUGE difference!
I'm going to try to optimize a little more when I get home. The only app running that I dont really need is the Amazon Market so I may get rid of that and see if that helps any. My goal is to get it to .5% battery drain per hour.

Setting the wifi to turn off with the screen is a HUGE power saver. When my gtab was draining a lot of battery I looked up the battery usage statistics and the wifi was using almost as much as the system idle!
I think right now I'm hovering at about .8% battery drain. I might turn off my RSS widget since I mainly use Pulse as my news source now. .5% here I come!
Well, I set WiFi policy to Off when screen is off and use Task Killer to shutdown every running process before putting tablet asleep and still battery loosing charge from 91% down to 77% in about 10 hours.
So, my numbers are about 1.4% per hour when gtab in "sleep" mode.
I check WiFi router and can see that gTab does switch WiFi off...
Question about that system app remover. How it removes redundant apps (say like stock email, music player, google search) from read-only system partition?
I thought that the only way to remove them is to rebuild and then re-flash ROM without those apps.
That's why apps like "Advanced Task Killer" etc. only kill processes from memory, but then Android re-launch them again.
I understand, that for phone not to fall deep into sleep is a feature, but for a tablet it's just a waste...

I installed "SystemApp Remover". It lists the apps in 2 categories "Regular Apps" and "System Apps". Regular apps are the ones you can remove normally without this app; the ones under "System Apps" are the build-in ones that you can not remove using the usual method. Once you select "System Apps", choose "Assist" in settings, and the app will highlight the system apps in 3 colors - green, yellow, red. Green=ok to remove; yellow=maybe ok to remove; red=removal not recommended.
I suggest you know what you're removing even for the green ones. The name of the app usually tells or just Google it. You can also back it up in settings before the removal.
I have removed some, not enough to test for results yet, but I've seen a few positive feedback from others. Just be careful while doing it, that's all.
Interesting, what is the most "power hungry" or better say - "refusing go to sleep" application?
I understand, this tests might be tedious to do. I think that the best candidates are those who are restarted on its own after Task Killer killed them..

Try "SystemPanel", it has a function that monitors which app uses the battery the most. According to its description, the monitor function uses about 1 minute of battery if it runs for a full day. And, the monitor function can be turned off and nothing else would run in the background from SystemPanel. There is a Free version as well.
Hey guys, I just flashed my phone to the latest version of BeastMod last night and used it until my battery went dry. I charged it overnight, and this morning it went from 100% battery to 56% in around 2 hours while it was mostly on stand by! It was completely dead in around 4 to 5 hours and I barely used it for anything but a few phone calls and light web surfing.
Also, when I installed BeastMod, it didn't come with the Gallery app OR the web browser. Is this supposed to happen? I ended up installing Dolphin Browser, and some other gallery app, but now I can't send pictures over MMS. Has anybody else encountered these problems before, and can anybody give me some advice on how to fix it?
If you looked in the thread where you downloaded the mod, there is also a patch and a warning from Xboarder to disable the facebook app sync.
Do I download the .zip file and install it with CWM?
And does the patch fix all the problems up there, or just the power drain?
The patch restores the gallery and browser apps, while disabling Facebook sync prevents the battery drain. If you're still getting battery drain after a couple of charge cycles, recalibrate the battery.
My battery life isn't bad, but it could be better.
The long period of time my screen is off (see pic) is when I went to sleep, it's also when I set my custom ref. In the other pic you can see how many time my phone woke up when it was supposed to be sleeping!
Attached is also my log, it's the paid version with everything ticked, so it should have all the info needed, except I can't make heads nor tails of it.

Thanks, but if you can tell by the time i made these logs you can see it was over 12 hours ago, I've spent a good portion of the day trying to figure this out.
I wasn't being a ****, i posted in the q&a section, so while i appreciate your reply, i could do with someone helping me understand this and in turn I'll learn something and maybe not have to ask again.
You went 15 hours and still have 60%, that's insanely good, mine dies in less time than that. Although it seems because you haven't used anything except having the screen on, I use heavier applications constantly.
You could use lowest screen brightness and if you're using stock firmware, disable data when you don't need it, since I figure some of the bloatware apps would want to connect to the internet.

Yeah, it was overnight though, usually get about 4-5 hours screen time during the day. I'm on check rom with most bloatware disabled and most if not all apps are set to manual sync.
I'm wondering what keeps waking my phone up overnight.
1) Nail the samsung push service com.sec.spp.push
2) Remove any battery monitoring widgets you are using, maybe you have a battery icon on your clock widget, try removing that or something.
Looks like you are using viber, whatsapp and vlingo, so thats 3 big background apps.
I would also be inclined to swap to something other than go launcher as well.
If in doubt ask in the BBS thread here

Hello!
I know its a common problem for everyone. But I think my problem is quite a bit more. It drains fast even if I don't use my phone. One thing is my 3G is on 24/7. But I saw people with some other roms who open the data traffic for 24/7, bt still get 1.5 days service from battery.
My Xperia Go really drains so fast.I uploaded some screenshots. The first two photos, i uploaded the app use right after charging my mobile & in the next pair of photos are next mornings'. In between i just make a call for 10 min. Nothing else. Now say what should I do?
btw, i found just non-system apps like facebook, messenger & whatsapp which might drain some extra battery. Otherwise I have no other major apps non-system apps. I JUST WANT TO RUN MY XPERIA GO FOR AT LEAST ONE DAY WITH A FULL CHARGE
My Phone: Xperia Go rooted with doomlord kit version 14
Build number: 6.2.A.1.100
Kernel version: 3.0.8+ (I think its the stock kernel)
My pc operating system: Windows 8
Is there any better rom for me with pretty much less bugs?

I did follow some steps:
Step 1:
1. First You go Settings--->APPS--->All Tab---->ECO Mode Controller/ Extended battery mode (Click Clear Data and Force Stop)
2. Then Again you Go Settings--->APPS--->All Tab---Setting.apk (Click Clear Data and Force Stop)
3. Charge Your Mobile 4 to 5Hours
4. After 4-5 Hours While Charging That Time You Click Vol Up+Power Button( after 3 times Vibrate)
5. Remove Your Charger and Again Plugin Your Mobile The Sony Logo With Comes And Charging Logo has been Shown
6. Then Power On Your Mobile While Charging
7. Then Go Setting--->Power Management TURN ON BATTERY STAMINA MODE.
8. Then see the battery state.
Step 2:
As ur phone is rooted like me, install Greenify app & add those app works in background even if u don't use the phone. May be Greenify will stop them.
Step 3:
In power mangement, press the stamina mode & exactly add apps like which u did in grennify. In my case Facebook, Facebook Messneger & Whatsapp were the most dangerous app. So i added those.
Step 4:
Use app2sd card software & transfer app from phone memory to sd card. It mau help a liitle.
after these steps i get some little improvement
Note: There's always some bug in other roms. That's why i didn't install any
hey thanks for replying ...
I was using ALL THE PROCEDURES THAT U ALREADY MENTIONED...
BUT I THINK ITS A BATTERY ISSUE...I HAVE BEEN USING IT SINCE ONE AND HALF YEAR OR SO..
EVEN SOME BATTERY APPS SHOW THAT IT CAN SAVE ONLY BATTERY WHICH LONGS FOR 1HR OR SO WHERE IT IS SUPPOSED TO SAVE FOR A 5 HR TALK TIME
U CAN USE " No Bloat Free" to disable system apps if u dont want to use...:cyclops:
I am gonna replace the battery i guess..
Sony ericsson is not providing a battery replacement , they are asking for warranty and all which is expired in my case..
Anyways Thank YOu..
Well try factory format its work for me
also always charge your fon atleast more than 55%

I'm having trouble with the same phone but different rom. I'm running CM11 on my GO and battery lasts about 7-8 hours. This is with some maps usage, 10 minute calls, 10 viber messages and some surfing using Firefox. I've greenified everything including Viber & Whatsapp. I also got Juicedefender turning 3g off when screen is off and turning it on briefly every 15 minutes. Clean master is also running in the background because I have to keep clearing ram.
Edit: oh, and I got No frills cpu control set to 200/800mhz Interactive/Noop
Going back to stock rom might help but then Viber "effs" things up and dialer starts lagging.
Any other tips? This piece of crap phone has been nothing but trouble since the beginning.

It's the screen that drains most of it, how long has it been on?
And it is weird because it doesn't show to be awake when screen is on which usually is the other way (awake with screen off).
Check CM thread to see if it's a known/fixed bug.
I updated to the latest CM11 and things are a bit better now... I'm getting about one days use. Which still isn't much considering most of the apps are greenified. Anyway.....
edit: and I've tried to keep the screen brightness at constant ~25-30%.
