I've been considering flashing and hellraising a ROM from the original galaxy s2 and have been wondering which ROM would be best. With performance, battery life and UI into consideration. Thanks in advance

Definately the turkbey rom. Has awesome graphics and has been working without a problem for me. I have tested it with Entropy's kernel and currently testing siyah and it works awesome with either one.
Battery life is good as long as you don't have any of the battery draining apps installed or controlled.

I would give Villain Rom a try. Its based on KI3(2.3.5) and its rock solid! Battery is stellar, no wifi bugs/issues. It hasn't been updated in a while but for good reason, new doesn't always mean better
It doesn't have a flashy theme or anything(you can change that if you want) but performs great, fast and stable.
There are a lot of nice Roms in the I9100 forums. I've tried a few of them(Crysis 2.0, Turkbey Rom) but keep coming back to Villain 3.0
Only you will be able to tell what one works best on your device. Each device is different

Hi guys im a new android user - about a week old now.
I recently flashed to Lite'ning coz people are talking about it and i guess its popular.
Im not happy with the icons and blue/black theme that comes with it.
Which ROM should I go for if i want to achieve the below theme? I have read a few good ones VillainROM / LeoMar ? What are your suggestions?

I think this is only a personal choice. you can always try and flash roms and reflash. Just that its time consuming process and ofcourse *backup* is one important thing.
Hope you find a better one for you
i think your are pretty new in rom flashing, i would recommend you Leomar Rom.
Just download RevolutionRom app from market , it will download it for you ,istall it for you,change themes for you and kernels and......
The revolutionrom app is... wow...., nearly every new tweaks ,themes and other stuff arrives in the app.
The first 2 pictures are MIUI I think with Suave HD icons.
The third is just stock GB or something with Launcher pro and some other stuff.
Hi,
I bought a new Atrix from Personal Argentina. Ever since I bought it and change it to CM the battery drains as 3% or more per hour when the phone is idle (no data or wifi on, neither screen). I changed to Neutrino 2.2 EE rom as it is supposed to be optimized for battery life and the issue still persists.
I tried to check if some up was running in background using high CPU with WatchDog but I didn't find anything.
I also tried the process these guy describes on the first thread but my Atrix already measures around 4200 mAh http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198333
Not sure what to do next.. Maybe change the radio, but I am not sure which one should I use for Personal Argentina.
Please Advice
Just changing ROMs is not enough, you'll have to experiment with different Kernel, ROM and Basebands (radios) until you find the best combo.
For me Wetdream 1.4.3 ROM, FAUX 1Ghz Kernel and 77.36P radio seem to do the trick. (see screenie)

CM7 vs ICS What do you like better? looks, performance, simplicity, better features? What are your pros and cons of each? I like cm7 because its very simple and really clean looking, ics is still new to me so i have no real opinion, what do you guys think?

Really isn't a remote comparison as of yet. CM9 is still beta and offers so little customization as such. I'm looking forward to complete builds so I can try it and MIUI V4 and see which I like better, or try both.
From what I've seen so far some of the ICS features are pretty cool and worth the devs taking the time to bring our way.
too early to compare it mate,when all devs focussing on ics,you'll know who's the best..

yes you guys are right still early! i do appreciate all the devs working on cm9 , i was just curious or what people would think thanks
Currently I would say CM7 would be better only because it is more stable and provides more options to customize etc. However give ICS more time and ICS will win by far.
agreeeeeeeeee
just like when gb first coming,you would say froyo is the best,right??

Hey! I've searched for a long time some virtual soft keys (on screen buttons) for Galaxy S2 like Nexus ones for stock odexed ICS ROM. Didn't managed to find any, someone can help? ->

Thank you!
Some ROM's like Resurrection Remix (found in Android Development Section) allow you to have the soft keys on screen. Not sure how well they work as I have never used it. I think it would just take up too much of the screen as we have hardware buttons already, but everyone to their own liking. Or you could sell your GS2 and buy a G Nexus!

You can check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364757
Or, flash an AOKP rom, some MIUI roms have it too, ParanoidAndroid(CM9 based)
Well, thank you both of you.
@themadba - Yea, i know i was curious if was something like that for a stock ROM. Just wanted to test it strictly on a stock ROM, i have test them on AOKP ROM. ( and yeah, pretty useless )
@curodot - that doesn't work for stock odexed apps, like framework.
what Gb kernel and battery mods are recommended for a great battery life?

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
GB kernel I recommend you this, for battery tweaks you can add these lines to your build.prop:
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180
pm.sleep_mode=1
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
+1. Xkernel is still the best. So sad development has stopped. AIFK, kernel 3.x will never work on stock GB so I think I'll stick with this one

You want battery life like this

Use this
But at your own risk. It will probably harm your device.
There is no such thing as which is the best Kernel, Rom or what ever for battery life, every person uses their phone diffrently so diffrent kernels will suit diffrent people.
