Hello,
I have a problem with my "galaxy ace" subsystem "android" Gingerbread.xwKS9 version 2.3.5.
Indeed, the wifi always disconnects after a few seconds or minutes and it randomly. (I set the wifi so when the phone switches, Wi-Fi activated, and when the screen turns off the wifi as well)
For information, I installed "TasKiller" and also "Android assistant" to free memory resource to start the phone but it makes no difference.
This problem is difficult and I have not found a solution so far to resolve it.
Do you have a solution to make me (change of ROM or other ...)
I do not use special software except:
- Apps Organizer
- Calengoo (1.0.56)
-Llama
- TasKiller
- The software includes basic mail
- Go pro sms
The phone is root.
(i think il will try too install CyanogenMod Android 2.3.5 on my Samsung Galaxy Ace to try to solve the problem ?)
Thanks for your answers.
Go to settings -> wireless and networks -> wi-fi settings -> press the left feather button of your phone -> tap on advanced -> wi-fi sleep policy -> change it to 'never'
Please press the thanks button if I helped you
I've already done this... but without succes.
My phone is now with CyanogenMod...
For the moment Wifi is ok and always on.
Thanks for your help.
Have you considered checking your wifi router? I had this problem before... and thought it was the Ace acting up.. but then it was my wifi really causing the problem...
The thing i notice with most android phones is that home setups don't work how they should. I always give my device a dedicated (static) IP and never had a problem since.
Thanks for your answers.
For th moment, my device stay in wifi...
I change my ROM with a CYANOGENMOD, i don't know if this ROM solve my problem.
If no, i will chek for my wifi router or to put a static IP...
Thanks
EDIT :
Il work well with cyanogenmod

One Factory reset
Two Install stock rom
Three return to service centre mentioning that you have read a lot about these issues you have .

Make sure your WiFi is not using any channels above 11. If so, the stock firmware is able to briefly scan and find the wireless but not connect.
I had/have the same issue and the only way to fix was to change my wireless to use a lower channel and not auto switch channels.
Turns out this was (I believe) a limit in 2.3.3. Though I've tested on 2.3.4 (Nexus S) and this has the same issue.
I posted a similar problem else where and one person responded saying that (the leaked ) stock 2.3.4 firmware in wireless -> advanced settings has an option to set Regulatory <something> that allows all channels to be used.
Hope this helps,
I got a same issue. And, I had changed a lot of ROMs but still in this condition. Did you found the solution? Thank you very much
I get the same issue...
When i go to wifi settings and turn it on, it starts scanning and seconds later it turns off. Sometimes it won't even turn on and i have to make a hard reset.
Tried different ROMs and android versions but that was to no avail...
Any ideas?
my s2 also have problem on wifi and hotspot.. when i try to switch on the hotspot.. there is an error underneath.
can somebody help?
i oso flashed 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 firmware but jus no help..
Found any solution ?

Hello,
I became a proud owner of S3. As it usually happens to me there is the problem. Namely, from time to time problem happens to me when I'm using any web browser or anything that requires an Internet connection. Say for example Opera. I'm browsing pages and suddenly ... BOOM ... 3-5 second pause in the connection over WiFi (energy saving is off and in WiFi settings - I did it via code, in the service menu). Sometimes Internet connection breaks when I'm browsing menu or writing an SMS. For example: I browse the menu and suddenly I see - WiFi stamp disappears and after a while there is info about that phone is connected again. This is the first problem.
The phone is lying, WiFi operates in the background. When I Pick up the phone and when I'm clicking home (or power) button I get the lock screen and. .. freeze. Phone is disconnected from WiFi and only time the phone reconnects to WiFi I can unlock the screen.
On what ROM were the problems? On the Stock LF2, ROOTed LF2, Omega 7.1 - 9.0 and AOKP Milestone6.
And also it does not work automatic refresh of weather (at 1 h interval) on stock widget (the Samsung weather widget).
Sorry for my bad English.
Why couldn't you have just set your wifi to never turn off in settings, wifi, advanced.....it's practically the same thing....I wouldn't be messing around with the service menu. I would wipe data/factory reset and start again bud but this time, stay away from the service menu as it's for technicians and phone repairs etc I've not once touched the service menu....

I found the same problem ever since I upgraded to LH3 (the latest official release at this moment). The lock screen is frozen if: I had the WiFi Switched On, screen off either manually or timeout, then disconnected (say if I walk away from the wifi service area). When I press Power or Home button to wake the device, the lock screen is frozen.
Seems no freeze if wifi remains connected. Seems no freeze if wifi power saving mode is off (disabled via *#0011# (but setting won't stay if unit is power off).
Did both Cache wipe (didn't do factory reset) but makes no difference. Tried "never turn off" also makes no difference (probably because it will turn off anyway when connection is dropped)
The upgrade seems worser than before...
Any hints please...
This seems to be common but not always the same fix, my wifi constantly drops out and reconnects immediately (ruining any downloads/streaming) , i have tried the service mode, factory reset, different kernels, sleep time, static IP's, JB vs ICS Roms / Stock roms, you name it i have tried it and it STILL is doing it. Weird thing is..dont think it dropped out and reconnected when i was stock and unrooted, but as i said, tried stock rom and to no avail
Any ideas?

Cheers,

I have this issue on my galaxy note N7000, and only recently for like a month now and on various different ROMs all JB. Any updates on what the cause could be?
Go full unrooted stock and send the phone in for warranty repair. It's the smartest thing to do if a problem persists after lots of ROM switching and factory resetting.

That's would be the smartest thing to do, indeed. But... Warranty expired centuries ago.
Any clue what is causing this not uncommon problem?

Try visiting a(not crowded) place with public Wi-Fi, and see if the issue persists.
If it starts to work fine, get a new router, preferably with 802.11n support. If you buy a N compatible router, check all of your Wi-Fi capable devices for N support, and if one of them doesn't, make them N compatible(if it's a computer, get a new N compatible Wi-Fi card or USB reciever, if it's something else, well, you can't do anything else other than buying a newer version of it with N support, or not using that device's Wi-Fi feature at all) because your router will operate at an older mode even if one of your devices doesn't support N.
Hi,
I've just gotten a Galaxy S2 and I'm not able to switch on the WiFi-adapter... I have Android 4.0.4 on it and it just tells me that tha WiFi is gonna be activated endlessly...
I've searched here in the forum and on the internet a bit and it seems that many people encountered similar problems after they've updated from an older software version to ICS... I've already tried many things people reported on those threads to get their WiFi working again like:
every kind of wipe
downgrading to a Gingerbread firmware
using cutom kernels/ROMs (AOKP-Rom, CyanogenMod, Siyah-Kernel)
many different APKs that seemed to fix the WiFi issue on some devices (like WiFix or FXR WiFi fix and rescue)
but nothing of the above mentioned approaches worked out for me...
I've also found a post of someone who managed to get it working by making "wifi:wifi" the user of /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and change its permissions to 0777... This didn't work out neither...
And here's the really strange thing now: I was able to connect to our home network once. All i had to do was to change the WLAN-frequqncy bandwidth (I'm not sure how it's called on an english firmware, I use a german one) in Settings/WLAN/Advanced from "Auto" to "2,4GHz" for that is what I'm using at home... After I got the WiFi working with this i restarted the phone to see if this really solved the problem, but then the WiFi was gone again and since then I'm not able to change this setting anymore because the phone doesn't save any changes I make for this option in the Advanced settings anymore. When I change this setting, leave the advanced settings section tha WiFi doesn't work and when I open advanced settings again the WLAN-frequency bandwidth is set to "Auto" again.
So I'd like to ask if anyone has an idea what else I might try to get it working or if anyone knows where the config-file is where the above mentioned settings are saved so that I could try to change this manually or if anyone encountered a similar problem and already knows the solution for it...
Btw, I don't think that this is a hardware issue because like I mentioned above I was already able to connect to the network successfully once...
thanks in advance

There are some reports of leaked acid from the internal button battery (BAT500) which ruined some surrounding components, such us some resistors causing WiFi malfunction.
Not sure if that could be your case, but it could be worth give it a try and disassembly your SGS2 just in case. If you have a damaged/leaked internal battery then you could just remove it and clean the zone with CRC. That battery just helps to store the date and time when the "big" battery is removed.
This is a link to a spanish forum where you will find some pictures of the affected battery: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=454012
And this is a "how to disassemble SGS2" video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=65pvAINg2ME

i've the rom GingerDX 031c and I've noted a bug with wifi.
pratically, when the phone connected to a wifi and when I put it in standby, it lose the connection with the wifi, so, for example, if someone send me an important message on whatsapp I can't know, because is such as there isn't wifi.
anyone can fix this bug?
sorry for my bad english.
If u use scripts it happens especially performance scripts like pure performance... Scripts switch to data and close wifi when phone sleeps... Did not read the scripts yet, could look when i had time...

LooL.
1.Just Go to Wi-Fi settings
2.Click Menu (Left button) Of ace.
3.Click Advanced
4.Click on Wi-Fi Sleep Policy
5.And select 3rd option that is Never
This happens because usually By default Option selected for wifi is like when you turn off screen Your wifi gets disconnected automatically. This setting is for battery Conservation purpose.
So you have to manually change that default setting. So after this your wiFi will not turn Off though your screen is off.
Hope this helps you.
& I don't think it has anything to do with Scripts.
