I was wondering, when i first got my samsung phone on froyo the gps didn't work at all much like my prime. I then got gps booster app and it fixed it basically, now i know the prime has issues because of the case but i was wondering if something like gps booster made specifically for the prime would help like my sammy phone? Any thoughts on this guys?
None "specific" to prime but there are many proven affordable - $50 - BT GPS devices that would for sure work
Hmmm okay, will look into those if I need it for a road trip or something. As of now I have not had to use the GPS much so no rush. Still sucks though I bought something that doesn't work like they advertisers. Sigh.

This is a hardware issue. The only way to fix this is to saw out the back metal plate where the gps chip is and put plastic over it.

It's just hidden from quick settings. You can still toggle it with the Power Control widget or by going to Settings --> Location services --> GPS satellites.
Ahh yeah, that gives me some hopes again. This
Last week has been too stressful lol.

The correct answer is No. While this "leaked firmware" seams to have fixed the GPS issue we do not know when it will be pushed out. Based on what I am seeing, it appears to be early beta quality. Figure a couple weeks to flush out issues, ship to the carriers, then the a couple weeks for them to certify it before pushing it out....basically I would say at least a month. However, this "leaked" firmware could be old as well and the carriers may already have it and we could start getting update notices tomorrow. The answer is, nobody on this forum actually knows.

Thank for your reply and i know no one here know for sure when it will come but then again i thought someone has more latest news then myself
Has anyone ripped the GPS fix from the leaked rom? I would like to try it but don't want to flash to the leaked firmware.

For you. I get unavailable messages. So its not a "for sure" thing. Unless i am doing it wrong.
GPS does not work for me either. After flashing I am seeing 12 satelites. All sats have an snr of 15-25 with zero locked.
I was able to get into lbstestmode using a market app called any cut. All of my settings are set to stock.
It appears that this update is not 100%. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.
op, if you are asking a question please put a question mark in your title so you dont waste peoples time with misleading thread titles. thanks

With the first Nexus S being compatible with the T-Mobile network, I'm wondering if the hardware is similar enough that the stock Gingerbread ROM would run fine on the Vibrant. What do you guys think? I'm hoping the modem, camera (with flash added), and GPS are all the same hardware so we wouldn't have any roadblocks.

Uhhh, no. Still not. Someone just asked last week, too... those lazy devs need to do something useful with their time (jk)! A better place to look for up to date would be the source (rootzwiki), but I guess they wouldn't be so patient with such questions.

I just had hummus, so I'd rather speak on the phone(or Skype via Touchpad)...
Unfortunately, this isn't possible yet....
O would have to agree. I used it a lot for Skype so not having those two features is huge for me. Hopefully soon?!?

yes, but it's faster to just pull my smartphone(Galaxy Nexus) out and use Skype that way.
much rather use Touchpad running ICS, but I can certainly wait for the developers to come up with a solution.

There is only 3 bugs for the TP to be perfectly usable.
WIFI stability
MIC
Camera

Well, you're partly correct. Those are issues that still need to be resolved. But often developers have other priorities that end users don't recognize. Performance issues and stuff that happens behind the scenes.
The Rootzwiki team obviously has a different task list, and one that might be considered to be more thorough than what you've named. Otherwise they wouldn't be working on stuff and posting nightlies on the regular. If you check changelogs over at the rootzwiki site here, you can get a better idea of how they're spending their time and what they've been focusing on.
Definitions of perception of success in IT projects are subjective. It's not always as cut and dry as one would think. I'm writing a dissertation on that very topic as you read this.
Usable? Id say wifi is working well enough to be usable. The mic and camera I would consider as "nice to haves". However, I don't use skype or anything very often, so perhaps my priorities are different.

For something that's free, developed, and distributed by private persons who are not obligated to provide you with anything.
Why do people feel so entitled to things such as these?!
If you don't like waiting...learn to code, and develop a better solution yourself.
How much of your time do you spend doing something that you're good at and donating your work to other people for free? Meaning, if you were a house builder...how many houses would you build for other people for free?
Solution: learn to code. Do it yourself.

You have to copy the apk file to /system/apps and set permissions. It has to do with being a system file. You could also adb push it if you want.
Does it work on Verizon or is dottat right about the grounded antenna. If he is right then Verizon is really crappy for doing that. Has anyone tried it with earplugs on cause I remember with the og evo the earplug wires were the antenna?

Big red does that cause theyre trying to make money off of radio, which is free,if you look at sprint they just did a deal with a company that makes a free streaming fm app i forget the name of the app but i think it comes pre installed on newer sprint phones that have the fm chip built into the chip!!!

It may not be hardware. When we tried to do this on the DNA we needed libs and kernel support.

The fm radio service app comes installed on verizon stock so I would be surprised if the libraries or anything else were removed. They probably did kill the pins and just remove the radio app so no one would try to use it.
But I would help out with what I could for anyone that wanted to look into it.
