With the first Nexus S being compatible with the T-Mobile network, I'm wondering if the hardware is similar enough that the stock Gingerbread ROM would run fine on the Vibrant. What do you guys think? I'm hoping the modem, camera (with flash added), and GPS are all the same hardware so we wouldn't have any roadblocks.

I was wondering, when i first got my samsung phone on froyo the gps didn't work at all much like my prime. I then got gps booster app and it fixed it basically, now i know the prime has issues because of the case but i was wondering if something like gps booster made specifically for the prime would help like my sammy phone? Any thoughts on this guys?
None "specific" to prime but there are many proven affordable - $50 - BT GPS devices that would for sure work
Hmmm okay, will look into those if I need it for a road trip or something. As of now I have not had to use the GPS much so no rush. Still sucks though I bought something that doesn't work like they advertisers. Sigh.

This is a hardware issue. The only way to fix this is to saw out the back metal plate where the gps chip is and put plastic over it.

It's just hidden from quick settings. You can still toggle it with the Power Control widget or by going to Settings --> Location services --> GPS satellites.
Ahh yeah, that gives me some hopes again. This

Seems to me like a Hardware issue, do check with a samsung service center and see
It might not be a hardware issue. It can also be software lated, i.e you have wrong ntp address, its finds some satellites but they are too weak to connect .o Try GPS fasterfix to change your ntp server. Search for it on the forum. Gps test plus is a good app to see the satellites strength .

Thanks, it is a really nice ROM too boot. And 4.1.0.0 fixed the mic issue I believe, I can make calls fine.
Works fine on Tranquility. I use it every day.
It looks like there aren't any ROMs based on the T-Mobile formware on any of the forums. Are y'all getting the same data speeds on the international ROMs? Is there a tmobile radio to flash?
You should be able to flash any in the HTC One Forum. Our device is the M7 so you should have no issues. Only problems some people have been seeing is from ATT so far with roms that don't have the proper RIl files and this is believed to cause the radio to switch from E, H, and LTE chronically.

thanks, i wasnt sure if our device was M7 or not.
stupid question, but does flashing the roms on the international one forum **** up the radio?
Only if the ROM includes the radio. As far as I know, no one is including radios in their ROM's. I would personally hold off flashing any radio until we get a flashable zip, RUU, or other means to go back to the shipped radio. Some users are having issues with the WWE radio on Tmobile and ATT. Some may think it's just the rill files too.

Yah that's the one bummer about non T-Mobile ROMs. It's impossible to get WiFi calling working. Has to be a T-Mobile based ROM.

It's the same thing after you unlock the boot loader and have a custom recovery
The only thing is you have to flash the kernel manually

I mean, the "you can sort of unlock the bootloader but you can't have S-OFF" is obnoxious but it isn't any easier to bring your phone--if anything, the limitations placed on operations done in recovery make it harder to actually brick your phone since the boot and recovery images are normally flashed in fastboot.
But yeah, Nexus phones are much kinder to tinkerers. News at 11.

Yeah, that's what I did too. Only mildly sad to give up wifi calling; I never go over on minutes anyway.
Can't wait until there's T-mo specific roms. I get absolutely crap reception in my apartment and NO reception at work, so i desperately need wifi calling.
What we need is a good all around android dev /Rom chef to dedicate there time to our branded HTC one.
I hope Roms aren't gonna be generic forever leaving us with partially set up Roms/ having to flash radios constantly and whatnot !Never knowing what's compatible and what's not .
If that's the case I foresee a lot of angry people and jtag sales in the future .
I'd give it a month or two before we have a few 2-4 dedicated tmo HTC one roms 100% ready to flash and go just for us only .

The international HTC one got the camera update which is a night and day comparison, my question has anyone gotten an OTA on tmobile, can you flash an international OTA on a Tmo rom?
I was also wondering how this update will be delivered to tmobile and other carriers. Does an update like this have to go through carrier testing or can it be delivered directly from HTC?

Which roms have you tried this on?
Since Wifi calling is built into roms bow that the pretty much impossible. You can try tmobile super old Wifi calling app. That might work.

It has been said that until we get specific roms for our tmobile one's there's no way of flashing an international Rom and still having WiFi... So you have to ask yourself what do you prefer better camera quality or wifi calling...
Me personally I can live with the camera for now.

According to the latest android central podcast... The HTC one in the US was released with the camera update, so there won't be any new update.
Yeah, they got OTA'd to what ours (all US) shipped with. The camera is already fixed.

We are talking only about the camera fix.. the us versions came with that. Obviously the international update has additional bug fixes along with the camera update. Not sure our useless carriers will push that fast.
There are 2 fixes.
Originally it was 1.26.
The first fix improved camera quality greatly- 1.27. This is the one t-mobile is on.
The second round of fixes (1.28 and 1.29) also improved camera quality (although less so) and the capacitive buttons. Very slight battery increase as well.
